Summary: Recent changes to propsheet.c causes crashes in
MagnaCura
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: peter(a)cendio.se
This patch to propsheet.c causes Wine to crash when using the application Magna
Cura Äho:
+ /* unset active page while doing this transition. */
+ if (psInfo->active_page != -1)
+ ShowWindow(psInfo->proppage[psInfo->active_page].hwndPage, SW_HIDE);
+ psInfo->active_page = -1;
It was added in revision 1.169 of propsheet.c. Removing these lines avoids the
crash. The other parts of the changes done in revision 1.169 seems ok.

Star Craft needs it BADLY ... I have Sempron 2600+ and GeForce 6200 and the
game lags because of the color conversion made by the CPU. The cure for
slowness does not help. And if I run my X in 8bit color mode SC runs great (no
lag at all), but with a very mishmashed colors...
P.S Yes I have the proprietary drivers for my GPU.

Is it possible for wine to lie and tell GameGuard that everything is working,
when in reality its doing nothing?

Oh, in case you wanted to know, I captured it using the following command-line:
wine xc3.exe 2>&1 | tee ~/xc3_log.txt

Unfiltered default console output
Assuming I didn't misunderstand you, I've attached what you asked for. I
managed to pare down to the minimum relevant by not advancing to the first bit
of dialogue. (there are several panels of narrative which display the rendering
bug before the dialogue (text and voice) triggers the unrelated errors about
ALSA buffer under/over flows)
All the lines up to and including this one appear before you even click "Start
New Game":
fixme:dsalsa:IDsDriverBufferImpl_SetVolumePan (0x1a72d08,0x1bbc78): stub
...and the three successive lines saying this appear while it's in the process
of shutting down:
err:ole:CoUninitialize Mismatched CoUninitialize
In other words, it's completely silent while doing the drawing for the
incorrectly-rendered text. As for the stuff before that, my current video mode
is 2560x1024x32@50 (dual LCDs), so I doubt it's a color depth issue.

Still there in unpatched 1.1.6.
I did not apply the patch using patch, but applied it manually since I believe
the file to patch has changed since. I added the patch-lines at about line 1019
instead of line 996. When applied manually the patch still solves this problem.

Yes. The problem still persists on version 1.1.6. I attached a new batch of
logs for the setup run and the (failing) GK3.exe run.

+d3d,+ddraw trace in wine 1.1.6
Here (I think) is such a trace; it's a bit long since I was having trouble
quitting (resorted to closing the game window in the end). Hope it helps.
