I have been trying to use Word Viewer, downloaded from this URL:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3657ce88-7cfa-457a…
to print a file, because neither OpenOffice.org nor Google Docs can display it
correctly on Linux. (Actually, not even Word Viewer displays it correctly on
Wine, but it does seem to be almost correct.)
The document I have been trying to print is at:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/bulgariaroma…
The first time I tried to print, Word Viewer said there were no printers
installed. I think this was because I'd installed cups-pdf while Word Viewer
was running. So I quit Word Viewer and ran it again.
This time, when I tried to print, the Print dialog appeared, but when I pressed
the Print button, I got an error dialog saying that there was a problem with
printing - but it didn't give me any clue as to what the problem was. There was
no error in the cups error log.
If I do "echo hi|lp -" in Linux to print a test to a PDF file, this works. So
cups-pdf seems to be configured correctly.

Colin McRae Rally 2.0 currently needs a dll override for msadp32.acm, otherwise
the following assertion error is thrown by the built-in version (see attachment
for backtrace):
msadp32.c:228: cvtSSms16K: Assertion `*src <= 6' failed.
The exception is thrown after the long video has been played and the title
screen is resumed.
Curiously enough, the game provides exactly the native library in the
installation directory, so using the override was easy:
[Software\Wine\AppDefaults\CMR2.exe\DllOverrides]
"msadp32.acm"="native"
Using Ubuntu 8.04, winecfg: ALSA HW accel.
Alas, the game is not playable because no background is rendered (street and
landscape are invisible), but that's another bug topic.

Tested MYOB accounting 10.0.2 running under Wine 1.0.0-1ubuntu4~hardy1, but
it's not usable currently. Sales invoices printed a blank page (all output is
missing, just a get a single completely blank sheet of paper from the printer),
but reports seem to print fine. Sounds like the same problem being described
here.
Also for tabs (e.g. general ledger -> chart of accounts -> tabs at top of
page), could not switch between tabs selected unless clicking followed by the
space key, or using the Alt + "underlined letter" keyboard shortcut (as
described above).

Even though it says
Backtrace:

I think the problem may start with the richedit since it is just text being
sent over and the sound was not a main thing on the list of changes since wine
0.9.58. Of course I have no idea how these backtrace things actually work in
wine so I may be wrong.

Make log
Trying to make wine 0.9.56 from the source package
on a 64-bit SuSE (SLES 10 SP1) Linux system, the build for
dlls/winex11.drv/winex1.drv.so fails.
The problem is that the list of directories on the winegcc command line has
/usr/X11R6/lib64 instead of /usr/X11R6/lib.
Near the top of Makefile,
EXTRALIBS = -L/usr/X11R6/lib64 -lXext -lX11
"lib64" has the 64-bit binaries, which won't link with the 32-bit object
modules.
I'm new to WINE, so I don't totally understand the build process, but it
appears that the Makefile is built on the fly from Makefile.in, which has
the definition:
EXTRALIBS = @X_LIBS@ @X_PRE_LIBS@ @XLIB@ @X_EXTRA_LIBS@
Apparently, @X_LIBS@ comes from the "config.log" file, which contains:
X_LIBS=' -L/usr/X11R6/lib64'
Apparently, this was written by "./configure". When I re-ran "./configure",
the output contained:
"checking for X... libraries /usr/X11R6/lib64, headers /usr/X11R6/include"
So apparently, the configure utility doesn't handle 64-bit X properly.

I am using ATI fglrx (8.471.3), so this may only be an issue because of a

All menus and buttons seem to render and work perfectly in Anim8or. however,
the 3D opengl view renders just to the left of the main window. you still
manipulate by clicking where the image should be, but the image only renders
to the left. this makes any sort of 3D editing almost impossible. otherwise,
the program seems to work flawlessly.

Summary: cannot enable/disable "emulate a virtual desktop"
setting per application
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.56.
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: erpo41(a)gmail.com
For some applications, such as StarCraft, it is necessary to enable the
"Emulate a virtual desktop" setting. If this setting is not enabled, the
application will not run.
For other applications, such as the UltraVNC viewer, it is convenient to
disable the "Emulate a virtual desktop" setting. If this setting is not
disabled, the application is cumbersome to use.
Running winecfg to switch this option on or off before launching each
application is a real drag.
One solution to this problem would be to allow users to set the "Emulate a
virtual desktop" preference on a per-application basis. A comment in Bug #
11078 makes it clear that this would be difficult or complicated to implement.
However, the problem still needs to be solved in some way.

error log of Asda Story
Hi!
This is my fist Bugreport so I hopefully made it right.
In Asda Story (http://asda.gamengame.com/) are no 3D Objects.
To make it more detailed:
In the Title Screen are no 3D Objects at all. There are only a black
Background, and not the "Chest" which can be seen on Windows.
More serve is the missing Objects after the Login. Everything is missing. Only
the plain 3D Map is visible. No Objects at all. No Trees, no Buildings and no
Charactes and Monsters.
in my log are only the Login screen. because the game wrote too many fixmes to
copy out of the Console. (Don't know how to write a Logfile with wine)
And some more things are Strange:
Another User can actually play the game wuthout any Problems. Maybe it is a
compiling problem with the Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon version of wine 0.9.55?
My Info:
AMD Athlon 1833 MHz
512 MB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce 2
Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10)
Wine Version 0.9.55 (I had the same Problem in 0.9.54)

Tactical Ops 3.5 is a Total Modification of Unreal Tournament 99.
This game was a Gold in 0.9.55 and in 0.9.56 is complete Garbage.
It gives the next errors and doesn't open at all:
err:advapi:service_control_dispatcher pipe connect failed
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk "Core.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for

Sadly this is the only game that i play, so i will have to go back to 0.9.55.
Core.dll is a dll located together with the .exe. Is part of the Unreal Engine,
so i think that any Unreal Engine based game will work on wine 0.9.56, and
those, all golds will become garbarge.
I leave you with some logs.

I've just replaced Ubuntu Gutsy with Debian Etch. With Ubuntu I've had no
problems running LFS via Wine (the latest versions). However when running it in
Debian Etch, LFS freezes as soon as I click the "Agree" button in the Agreement
screen (the screen just after selecting the driver name). At this point I am
forced to alt-tab back to the terminal and close LFS from there.
The only thing that looks out of the ordinary is a fixme message repeated more
than a dozen times when the Agree button is clicked (the message does not
appear before that action):
fixme:d3d:unloadNumberedArrays >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_ENUM (0x500) from
glDisableVertexAttribArrayARB(rgb) @ state.c / 2913
Note that this fixme did NOT occur when running LFS under Ubuntu 7.10 with Wine
0.9.55.
The latest Wine version available for Debian Etch is 0.9.55. I've tried running
LFS using 53 and 54, but encountered the identical problem.

Note :
1. This bug seems to be exactly the same I got running Panzer General
under Windows XP, without having activated the "Win 95/98 compatibility mode"
of the desktop shortcut.
But even if I say to Wine to emulate Win 95 or 98, it fails.
2. This bug is also reproductible under Windows 95/98 if you don't have the
original game CD in your drive when launching the game.
3. I have the legal CD (I bought it)

It would be great if you could correct this issue !
In the meantime, I went back to the 0.9.49 version :(

Gutsy and Delorme Installation procedure
I did a fresh install of Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10 on a new Compaq F750US and got all
updates from repositories. The complete procedure is in an attached file.
I then installed Delorme 2006 Plus using the procedure attached with nothing
other than WINE 0.9.46 as released by the Kubuntu repositories. I set the
default to Windows XP. The program did install with quite a few error messages
shown in the attached file. While installing the data CD, the number of errors
was too large and I could only get the last 50 pages or so.
I ran dmesg to get a listing for the hardware and any possible problems for
WINE to detect hardware related issues. The file is attached.
The program does start and does run. The graphics and text are poor quality,
and were much better when I used the Wine-doors as reported in another bug
report using the installation I over wrote.
Various functions do not work. One is the "Find Tab" error common with Delorme
(magnetic declination fix associated with DCOM and MDAC). Also, when tabbing
between boxes while attempting a search, the tab moves 2 boxes rather than 1.

Bit of an odd one, when you invoke the help system in Lord of the Rings Online
you get a window pop up (see screen shot), that window flickers while it loads

going black again).
If you move the cursor to where there is a link the cursor changes (so that you
can select the link) so it has loaded successfully it is almost as if the
background to the window is being drawn in front of the actual foreground.

Summary: Steam client, when I click on game, windows pops up
requesting latest version of DX
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: faheyd(a)yahoo.com
I've installed wine-0.9.54 on ubuntu 7.10 (system updated with the latest
patches, etc). Steam client installs and works fine after fixing gecko.
However, in the Steam client, when I click on CounterStrike Source game (or any
steam game in the game tab), I get a little window that says, 'Steam - The
latest version of DirectX is required' and it won't let the game start.
I get this error in spite of whatever '-dxlevel XX' I put in the command line
or start up options.
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=615763 see last posts #8,9,10 to
confirm others are seeing this also.
I've not done a bug report before, so I hope I put it in the right place and
right format.

Summary: Unable to install TaxCut2007
Product: WineHQ Bugzilla
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: bugzilla-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: silbar(a)whistlesoft.com
Created an attachment (id=10603)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=10603)
terminal error messages following "wine TaxCut2007.exe"
This appears not to be the same as bugs 6956 and 7397, as these refer to
TaxCut2006, not 2007. Besides, the descriptions of the problems look
different, although the end of the error messages I get in my terminal window
(see attachment) does say "unhandled action", somewhat similar to 7397.
The problem is that when I start with "wine TaxCut2007.exe" I get the attached
error messages. The InstallShield installer does start, but then immediately
comes to a stop after extracting the .msi file, saying the wizard was
interrupted before TaxCut 2007 could be completely installed. My system was
not modified at all.
I should say I am a first-time user of wine (version 0.9.9 on Ubuntu Dapper
Drake).
Thanks for any help on this -- it is getting on to tax time. Please also copy
me at silbar(a)whistlesoft.com, in addition to this Bugzilla list.

Summary: NWN2 toolkit crashes on startup
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.54.

log
I have tried to make nwn2 toolset to work on wine. I have ubuntu 7.1 with
latest patches and gnome.
I have followed up the instructions of how to setup .NET framework on this link
:http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=3754
I have applied all extra ideas from it :
cp /media/disk/WINDOWS/system32/l_intl.nls .wine/windows/system32
cp /media/disk/WINDOWS/Fonts/* .wine/windows/fonts/
Modified
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NetFramework\Policy\AppPatch\v[SOMETHING].00000]
to
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NetFramework\Policy\AppPatch\v2.0.50727.00000]
cp /media/disk/WINDOWS/system32/mscoree.dll .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/
cp "/media/disk/WINDOWS/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v2.0.50727/Microsoft .NET
Framework 2.0/unicows.dll" .wine/drive_c/windows/system32/
start it up :
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Atari/Neverwinter Nights 2/wine
NWN2ToolsetLauncher.exe
<clip>
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x7cf07fcc,0x00000000), stub!
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
attachement bt shows this in detail.
BUT if I remove fonts, e.g.
cd .wine/drive_c/windows
mv fonts fontsorig
Toolkit Window rises up nicely, albeit with garbage instead of text on the
file. And after a while it starts to complain about pasrseURL :
fixme:shell:URL_ParseUrl failed to parse L"NWN2Toolset.resources"
and finally crashes on :
fixme:variant:VarDecFix semi-stub!
fixme:variant:VarDecFix semi-stub!
fixme:shell:URL_ParseUrl failed to parse L""
[1]+ Segmentation fault (core dumped)
It looks like it cannot find resource files. Could core dump be caused by it ?
Any ideas of how to proceed ?
Any ideas ?
