Summary: Wine Windows OpenGL support regression
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.57.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: imamdxl8805(a)yahoo.com
Dear Wine developers,
This is wine version 0.9.56 and 0.9.57
There are two games that support OpenGL rendering as well as Direct3D redering.
Here are the games:
1. Hitmen 2 Silent Assasin
2. Hitmen 3 Contracts
When I have updated my wine version to 0.9.57, then these games are not playing
anymore with OpenGL rendering. But when I start these games with Direct3D
rendering they are playing fine.
These games played properly with wine version 0.9.55 with OpenGL rendering as
well as Direct3D rendering.
Then I have decided to reinstall wine 0.9.55.
Sorry for the err message printed in the command line. Because I do not have
Internet connection in my home PC.
Best regards,
DXL

Summary: WInUAE settings window reappears after being dismissed
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.50.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: wine-user
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: markk(a)clara.co.uk
Hi,
WinUAE is an open source (GPL) emulator of Amiga computers. After running
WinUAE and starting the emulation, pressing F12 brings up the settings window.
When this is dismissed by pressing Reset, Quit, Restart, OK, or Cancel, the
window closes and reopens. It should not reopen. That repeats if you press one
of those buttons again. If you press Quit, then Cancel a few times after the
window closes and reopens, the program does eventually quit.
Steps to demonstrate the problem:
(Typical usage of WinUAE involves obtaining an Amiga ROM image file, however it
is possible to use some software without.)
- Download WinUAE 1.4.4 from http://www.winuae.net/. Direct URL for the
installer is http://www.winuae.net/files/InstallWinUAE1440.exe
- Run the installer.
- For an example disk image, you can download e.g.
ftp://ftp.coresystems.de/pub/uae/rsi1.adf.gz
- Start WinUAE. The settings/configuration window appears. Click the "Floppy
drives" entry in the left side of the window, then the "..." button for drive
DF0:. Select the rsi1.adf.gz file.
- Click Start to start emulation.
- Press F12 to bring up the settings window.
- Try to dismiss the window by pressing one of the buttons at the bottom.

Setting winver to XP does the same thing, but also the intro movie and main

For example; my GNOME desktop has a PDF viewer, but when an application that is

I think the best way to handle this would be to replace the implementation with

Summary: Macromedia Studio 8 installer hangs
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.44.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
To try installing Studio 8, you first have to work around a
bug in the way the CD-ROM was mastered: they
included rockridge extensions, but neglected
to make files world-readable. This causes
mysterious errors about not being able to run the installer:
wine: could not load L"D:\\install studio 8.exe": Module not found
So you have to remount the cd-rom with the 'norock' option, e.g.:
$ umount /media/cdrom
$ sudo mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom -o norock
OK, on to the problem. Like Studio MX (see bug 9035),
Studio 8's top level installer runs the installers of six
or so apps. And like the earlier version, it hangs.
But this hang is bad; it's on the end of the
first app, and it it can't be solved by clicking "OK".
The hang occurs at the end of the Dreamweaver installation,
right after it says "Publishing product information".
The installer still responds to the mouse, but if you
ask it to cancel, it keeps going, no matter how many
times you say you want to cancel.
+process revealed the commandline used to invoke the
problematic subinstaller. To reproduce with just
the subinstaller, do
wine msiexec.exe /i 'D:\fscommand\Macromedia_Dreamweaver_8.msi' MM_STUDIO=1

ReportedBy: drakh(a)spamcop.net
Games based on the open source Kirikiri engine update the screen rather slowly.
These are Japanese visual novels, mainly consisting of static images with some
simple filters and compositing, accompanied by text and sounds. They're very
undemanding resource wise, and screen updates happen more or less
instantaneously in Windows on the same hardware. It's most noticeable when the
background image changes, taking a second or two to load from top to bottom,
but even text rendering is clearly slower when fast forwarding through a scene.
The engine has been used for commercial games like Fate/Stay night, though the
author's generic build (linked to in the URL field) has a simple example script
that demonstrates the problem. To run it, you need to have Japanese language
support installed, then launch "\kirikiri2\krkr.eXe" (passing wine the
LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 variable) and point it to the "\kag3\syoukai\" folder.
The source is available through SVN
(https://sv.kikyou.info/trac/kirikiri/wiki/AboutSubversion).

In the VISG editor (see url) the tooltips aren't resized and painted properly.
Works on windows.
Developer explanation (copied below without screenshots):
http://www.reactos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=36824&sid=9c02654b3b5b22544622…
As you may see, the button tooltip has the same size as in winxp.
This is correct, but it is not painted. I think, it's because ROS paints the
tooltips not via WM_PAINT.
And the second: the window tooltip with little screenshot...
It is not painted and has wrong size.
I think, it's because this tooltip didn't have LPSTR_TEXTCALLBACK as its
caption (in other words, it has direct caption). I resize the tooltip on
TTN_SHOW message. But, as I see, there is no such message for the window
tooltip. But the winapi documentation says TTN_SHOW is sent when the tooltip is
about to be shown. And no matter, has it LPSTR_TEXTCALLBACK or not. The button
tooltip has LPSTR_TEXTCALLBACK instead of its caption, and it's resized
correctly.
So, I think, there are two bugs:
1) painting tooltips not via WM_PAINT.
2) not sending TTN_SHOW, if the tooltip did not have LPSTR_TEXTCALLBACK.

This bug has been transferred from bug 9490. The month calendar control
displays sunday as the first day of the week, even though
LOCALE_IFIRSTDAYOFWEEK=0. This is because the implementation is based uses
0=sunday, rather than 0=monday. MSDN indicates that the API
(SetFirstDayOfWeek/GetFirstDayOfWeek) should use 0=monday, see
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms670423.aspx.
So, either the implementation needs to be changed to use 0=monday throughout
the code, or we can continue to use 0=sunday internally, but then we need to
convert when we talk to the rest of the world.

As far as I know, this is an issue that exists in only one application, but
could extend to others.
The application is minor and the bug is minor so this is just a minute fix.
According to this page:
http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=8240&iTestingId=12794
Paul Fisher has been able to reproduce this on 3 separate versions of wine.
------------
Linux Distribution information: Ubuntu 7.04 on x86
Program: Muckclient v3.42
Issue: After connecting to a world, any text entered into the input box at the
bottom of the window will not be seen. I had this issue with 0.9.44 and
reverted back to 0.9.15 thanks to a testing note on the application DB pages. I
then grabbed different versions from that point and found the exact version
that 'broke' this functionality.
The 'break' occurred between 0.9.20 and 0.9.21, hence the version number I've
used in the report.
To reproduce:
Download and install program through wine.
Launch program.
Connection window will pop up. Double click on the entry already in the list.
Try typing in the entry box on the window that appears. No text will be seen.

Summary: 3rd party treeview stopped working
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: brendan.dowds(a)sciencesoft.com
CC: julliard(a)winehq.org
Hello all,
I am a developer for a software company trying to get our software to work on
WINE. Unfortunately the third party treeview control we rely heavily on fails
to work properly. Namely in that we can not drag items from the treeview.
A small test program (TV_Test.exe), written in VB6, is attached to demostrate
this behaviour. Upon clicking on a node the program performs a HitTest to
determine what type of node it is and its subsequent behaviour
(expand/collapse, allowing dragging, etc.)
To duplicate place the attached folder in the 'Program Files' folder (or where
you please) and run the exe, through WINE obviously. Add a node (or several)
via the button then click on a node. The message box should then tell you if
the test has been passed or not. A successful test should also change to be a
couple of right pointing arrows, and the direction of the arrow in the treeview
node (if it was the lowest branch level). A failed test reports an error
("Error: Error in loading DLL (No.48) In ClickedNode") in the message box.
Now, this is where I know I'm breaking the rules. But this test program and our
main program (which I hope to at to the Apps Database today) both need wine
tricks to have been run, specifically vcrun6, for redistribution reasons.
However, I've already emailled Dan Kegel and he believes this may not be
necessary. I digress.
The test program always failed without winetricks vcrun6, but after it (and
before the bad revision) it worked. (Strictly you do not need to run the full
vcrun6, you need to remove the msvcrt, oleaut32 and olepro32.dlls from the
drive_c/windows/sysem32/ folder and run the vcredist.exe through WINE.)
A colleague looked into this problem in more detail hoping to solve it
ourselves (how wrong we were) and we believe that although we use winetricks,
in this case it actually helps expose a bug rather than the bug being something
intrinsic in what we use winetricks for i.e. replace built-in dlls with native
ones.
So in summary, running the test program without vcrun6 has always failed, with
vcrun6 it used to work but now doesn't.
Some more relevant information (I hope):
- I pulled down the latest git repository this morning (SHA1 ID:
2f445e4e4a74bda3034d993226f05073e777eb85) and tested it, the bug is still there
(wine-1.1.1-339-g2f445e4).
- I'm running FC6
- gcc version is 4.1.2
- command to run the program is '"wine C:\Program Files\Treeview
Test\TV_Test.exe"', assuming the folder is located in 'Program Files'
- A git-bisect showed the first bad revision to be between 0.9.37 and 0.9.38
(SHA1 ID:2f445e4e4a74bda3034d993226f05073e777eb85)
- Further investigation found that by commenting out just two lines the
program worked. And still works in the lastest version. The two lines are in
load_library of /dlls/kernel32/module.c and are shown in the attached file
(load_library_EDITTED.txt)
- The git log for the bad revision is attached.
- My intention was to also attach the output of WINEDEBUG but with the below
command:
$ WINEDEBUG=+relay wine "C:\windows\Program Files\Treeview Test\TV_Test.exe"
I get:
WINEDEBUG=+relay: Command not found.
Look forward to hearing anything and many thanks.

When opening an in-game book for reading, there is nothing to work as a mouse
pointer to help clicking the page corners or other clickable elements with. The
books do work, but finding the correct spot to click without any pointer is
quite hard. Saving and loading the game as well as selecting spells are also
implemented by an in-game book, so these functions are likewise affected.
A similar issue affects using the inventories and toolbelt, though the pointer
is not so much missing as being drawn under instead of over the inventory
panel. Otherwise the game seems to work well.
I'm running wine 1.0rc3 on a CentOS 5 system with a GeForce4 Ti 4800 graphics
card and nVidia proprietary drivers version 96.43.05.

Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.57.
Platform: PC

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: n5470(a)pinefields.com
WXTide32 includes a feature to show tide data by creating a cursor that tracks
time of day and water height. It appears when the main window is opened and
showing the realtime, graph, or overview display, and the user presses either
the left-arrow or right-arrow key. A popup or tag follows the vertical part of
the cursor line, showing the data for the time (vertical cursor line) and depth
or height of water (horizontal cursor line).
Under Wine, the cursor lines are drawn but the cursor popup or tag is missing
or flashes briefly (hard to tell which is happening). At the same time, a new
entry appears in the task bar: "Untitled Window". The app then blinks between
idle (based on the regular movable cursor, controlled by a mouse, etc.) and
busy, with "Untitled Window" showing in the task bar while the mouse cursor
signals "busy". On minimizing the main window (showing the tide levels), the
"Untitled Window" entry remains in the task bar. It cannot be maximized,
opened, or closed. Only terminating the application removes "Untitled Window".
No messages are written to stdout or stderr when the problem occurs.
Under Windows, the key-controlled cursor moves as expected, with a popup
attached to the scrolling cursor. No additional tasks appear in the task bar.

This is observed on the full version of Heroes of Might and Magic 5 (but is
probably reproducible on the demo). After updating to Wine 0.9.45 (coming from
0.9.44), I started experiencing application lockups in Heroes 5 during game
play on the map screen. The lockup consists of no further mouse or keyboard
instructions being recognize, although the background music continues to play.
An ALT-TAB to a shell and a "kill -9" get me back in control.
The problem is triggered somewhat randomly, but I've reproduced it twice by
loading up a saved game, panning around the map, viewing a hero's status
screen, and returning to the map. At this point, some of the status windows
are no longer drawing themselves completely and my system starts thrashing on
my hard drive. A little more panning around the map results in the lockup.
This issue did not exist in Wine 0.9.44.

Screenshot of hidden child windows.
Poser 7.0 is a 3D model manipulation and rendering program. It has a main
background window and several child windows, including a 3D viewport using
openGL. It runs quite well in a virtual windows desktop in version 0.9.55. In
versions after that, when the 3D window is manipulated, the child windows all
disappear behind the main window, as shown in the attached shot. Resizing the
main window will allow one to bring the child windows to the foreground, but it
happens after EVERY manipulation of the viewport. It only happened very rarely
under 0.9.55.
This doesn't occur when running on the KDE desktop using the window Manager;
however, in this mode moving the window causes the cursor to flash between the
normal pointer and the cross shapped move window icon, and the mouse buttons
and keyboard to become unresponsive for between 20 seconds and one hour-this
did occur prior to version 0.9.55(I suppose I should report this one whilst I'm
here). Eventually the flashing stops and the window can then be moved.
I'm running openSUSE 10.3 with KDE 3.59 and the nVidia proprietary video
drivers.

Relay log
When trying to enter rich text in a drawing in 4m - Ingellicad an endless loop
is encountered (CPU stays 98%). See details below. The console output is
attached.
Wine version: wine-0.9.56
OS: OpenSUSE 10.3
Windows: No windows, just a clean wine install
Program: 4M - Intellicad 6 classic. Download demo:
http://www.4msa.com/downloads/SetupICADClassic64_E.exe
Install: wine SetupICADClassic64_E.exe
How to run: I had to copy mfc71.dll,msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll from a Win XP
SP2 install into drive_c/ICAD6CLASSIC folder
Command line: wine "C:\ICAD6CLASSIC\icad.exe"
How to reproduce:
Run the program, in welcome dialog click 'Start Evaluation', in program
command line type 'mtext' in command line, drag a rectangle on screen and in
box
that appears type whatever you want (don't worry about black letters on black
background) and click 'OK'. All freezes.
When started with +relay, the following lines appear endlessly:
0009:Call user32.SendMessageA(00000000,00000150,fffffffe,00000000) ret=00585ec5
0009:Ret user32.SendMessageA() retval=00000000 ret=00585ec5
Only difference is that the third parameter decreases with 1 every time it is
displayed.

Summary: GetLargestConsoleWindowSize() should not return hard

sizepro.c - A source demonstrating the problem and a solution in terms of APIs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MSDN library includes sample code for console applications
(http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa263818.aspx). The source is
available at: http://www.helsinki.fi/~sund/console_vs6.zip . The source
compiles easily with winelib after --cuiexe transformations with winemaker.
The examples 14 and 32 deal with the GetLargestConsoleWindowSize() function.
The problem is that the current implementation in Wine returns hard coded
constants (X=80, Y=24) for the maximum size. This causes problems for
applications that have followed the conventions of sample code, because
it "prevents" the resizing of console window to bigger than "maximum".
In principle, the window size could be changed manually by using properties
dialog, but that is an "ugly" solution. Another "ugly" solution would be to
change the hard coded constants to bigger values in Wine implementation.
A better solution would be to actually implement the required functionality.
I have attached a source (sizepro.c, compiles with 'winegcc -o sizepro.exe
sizepro.c') that demonstrates the problem and infers the maximum console
window size in relation to current resolution and font.
I also tried to implement the corresponding functionality to Wine, and
attached the source for the improved function (kernel32_console_
getlargestconsolewindowssize.c). That works fine for me, but I'm not sure
whether it follows the conventions of Wine (or how to deal with strange
__i386__ definitions without duplicating the code). So, I wonder if
someone else more familiar with Wine development could check it out
and derive an adequate patch.
