I've recently managed to install KOTOR off the Best of PC DVD set, and noticed
that the standard mouse cursor won't display unless the left mouse button is
held down. Other custom context-based cursors, however, will display when no
buttons are held down (e.g. the hand icon when the mouse is over the
footlocker, or the arrow when hovering over doors).
I am not able to display the cursor in a screenshot, and am not sure currently
of other ways to give examples.

Hello,
I'm using a fully up-to-date (at the time of writing these lines) Fedora 9
installation on my AMD Athlon 64 CPU.
Since all tests on the AppDB in this and later versions is silver and up, I
believe that either my graphics card or my CPU bit mode is to blame.
Graphics card - nVidia Corporation GeForce 8600 GT rev 161, Nvidia binary
drivers.
Clean wine dir, fresh install from 1.00 CD, tested with 1.09 patch as well as
the 1.00 ver of the game (patched ddraw dll).
Crashes after splash (or mouse or keyboard click).
Attached console log.
I'm a programmer so if you think I should try to comment things out, change
code, etcetera, to test possible solutions, I can.
Thanks in advance,
David.

Throw In launch error screenshot
I'd like to play to this old-school soccer game but it doesn't run in Wine...
I mean, after creating a new wine folder to use I have to set Direct3D ->
DirectDrawRenderer to OpenGL (if I don't do so, wine stops immediately saying
me that I've to change the DirectDraw render mode)...
After this modification, I can launch the Throw In exe file and for few seconds
I get the game (loading) splash in my screen while the music is playing, then
an «Error» pop-up message appears with the «Memory Access Violation» error
(as you can see in the attached screenshot)...
The music continues to play until I press the «Ok» button, then all crashes!
The only messages I've in my terminal are:
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_FillGLCaps OpenGL implementation supports 32 vertex
samplers and 32 total samplers
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DImpl_FillGLCaps Expected vertex samplers + MAX_TEXTURES(=8) >
combined_samplers
fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x34f840,0x00000000), stub!
I've tried to enable also a more accurate debugging output, but I don't see
relevant messages... Anyway I could attach it, if you need!
You can download this game (version 0.85) at http://tinyurl.com/37lhzh (0.86
update at http://tinyurl.com/36cjdu)
Just one note... If I try the version 0.8 (http://tinyurl.com/3ymj42) the
application behavior is different: when launching the exe the game menu loads
and I can navigate it until I select to play... Then the game crashes giving
the same output I've already described.
I'd have to say also that another game I can find in the same site (Total
Control Soccer), always written in the same language give me this error :(

When running a scan with Clamwin, the current file is displayed that is being

On Wine, the list is never cleared, so you get a long list of them.

When trying to run Medieval 2: Total War, the screen goes black, I get a
garbled cursor for a split-second, and then a message:
"Medieval 2: Total War has encountered an unspecified error and will now
close".
When I first ran this, I got a load of stuff on the command-line which amongst
other things complained about a lack of d3dx9_36.dll. After adding this into
the system32/ directory, I get similar set of complaints on the command-line
(minus a complaint about d3dx9_36.dll), but the game still comes up with the
same error. This game has worked *relatively* recently on Wine (I'm thinking
maybe 0.9.51 or earlier) but I'm uncertain when.
Attached are the logs for both pre-d3dx9_36.dll installation (medieval-1), and
after (medieval-2).
Many thanks!

When trying to insert text with many symbols it round turn into hurt cause i
have to wait ~3 sec after input every symbol. Another problem when i typing a
alot of symbols then appear only first. It seems to be there is no input buffer
like in windoze.
In windoze this is also resource eager (100% busy at the same situation), but
more comfortable and responsible.
To solve this we need to use device fonts for static text or turn on outline
preview mode.

Backtrace of crash on loading
I have some old software which drives a simple glaucoma tester which is driven
by the serial port. The software isn't really supported any more, but the
people who make it still operate: http://www.medmont.com.au/
I cannot even get the software to load. There is an unhandled page fault on
loading.
Attached is the backtrace, but it seems mighty unhelpful.

Attempting to load one of those cellphone unlocker proggies for Windows makes
Wine crash after several attempts at loading OpenGL. Some kind of weird

Worth fixing? Very likely if it also happens in bigger programs like AutoCAD
and Photoshop. If not, I guess don't bother for now.

Renegade 64's RAM viewer.
Renegade 64 has this nice RAM viewer that views the RAM of whatever emulator
R64 happens to be attached to.
Thing is, that the font used to render the addresses and their data are a tad
too small. The application seems to be programmed with one font size in mind,
and has no tolerance for fonts being a size their not supposed to.
Since the separators separating the RAM addresses are fixed, the characters
display over the separators rendering them useless. This also makes it display
too much information before a line break. I've included a picture with the
problem.
There is one fixme that also seems somewhat important:

I commented out the SetFocus() done in LISTVIEW_LButtonDown(), and the problem

Crashlog from garry's mod
In the game garry's mod (available for $10 on Steam), the game crashes when the
player is killed by crushing or ramming with any kind of prop. Any collision
that would normally kill a player will crash the game with an unhandled
exception.
Death by guns or falling works normally, as do things like killing a player
inside a pod.
Attached is a +trace log made by running steam and calling Gmod as it's startup
app.
The lines:
1970: fixme:d3d:handleStreams Tweening is only valid with vertex shaders
1971: fixme:d3d:handleStreams Tangent and binormal bump mapping is only valid
with vertex shaders
Are caused by me spawning a car to test the crushing crash (I held it over my
head and let it go.)
The lines:
2121: fixme:dbghelp_dwarf:dwarf2_parse_variable Unsupported form for const
value srgb_cmp (a)
And similar are displayed at the exact moment the crash occurs.
Since, upon death, the FOV is supposed to turn red, and this doesn't happen,
perhaps there is some rendering bug causing the game to crash because it cannot
change the colour?

Since 0.9.40 I am having problems with sound playback. The application is the
Arindal MMORPG-Client (http://www.arindal.com/), but it uses standard QuickTime
to play sound (installed QuickTime 7.2.0.240).
The first regression was introduced in 0.9.40. Before that, sound was playing
fine. With 0.9.40, sound would no longer be played continuously, but all the
sounds (in my case the sound effects of the game) were played fragmented and
choppy.

The second regression (or partial fix of the first regression?) was introduced
in 0.9.41. Since then, sounds will play continuously again, but very often (not
always) the ends of the sound are chopped off (the last 0.2 seconds or
something like that), so that very short sounds are no longer played at all,
especially if many or multiple sounds are played in short succession. In
addition, sometimes fragments of the "missing" sound bits are played at a later
point, for example, when another sound starts playing.

The error messages indicate the crash is occuring in the ddraw DLL. A sprite
collision problem, maybe?
I am using some DLL overrides; La-Mulana crashes at startup unless I do so. The
DLLs overridden are dsound,dmime,dmusic,dmloader,dmsynth,dmband,dmfile, and
dmstyle (though La-Mulana does not use all these).

Ingame scene rendering is complelty broken, it just shows a black screen.

Opening the main menu ingame works (it shows), also the character menu. Also
going to do some shots for these.

Summary: pywin32 cannot be installed
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc4
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: kirr(a)landau.phys.spbu.ru
Pywin32-211 cannot be installed - it just eat 100% cpu and never finishes.
Wine ver: c959867510703a100106f292cd26cb8f489236bb (post 1.0-rc4)
Here are the steps how to reproduce it:
$ export WINEPREFIX=`pwd`/bug.pywin32
$ wget -c http://www.python.org/ftp/python/2.5.2/python-2.5.2.msi
$ wget -c http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pywin32/pywin32-211.win32-py2.5.exe
$ wineboot -i
$ msiexec /i python-2.5.2.msi /qb
This initilizes wine instance and installs python into it.
Let's try to install pywin32:
$ wine pywin32-211.win32-py2.5.exe
Oops, it eats 100% cpu and spawns new and new processes (pid of pywin32.exe
changes) and never completes.
On Windows XP pywin32-211.win32-py2.5.exe installs fine.
Thanks beforehand.

as in the bug description. Sound stutters when playing movies in the game. The
Movies are a MAJOR part of the game has (mark hamill, john rhys davies, malcolm
mcdowell, tom wilson) all in it. There's no commandline output to indicate an
issue that I'm aware of but I'll look into it further. If someone who knows
dsound more can help diagnose/test it that'd be great.
