screenshot of pop-up under +relay
I have a .NET application (running with native .NET 2) which dies without a
error message if runs on its own under wine (either from wine or from the
application itself); when running under WINEDEBUG=+relay, I get a pop-up
message about unhanded exception. This is an (small) upgrade to an application
I had run successfully on wine, so it looks like the vendor might have changed
something in the new release; nonetheless, I like to be able to run the new
version, so I am hoping to get some help.
Sorry, it is a proprietary application, but I am willing to try to anything.
Obviously, when WINEDEBUG=+relay results in a pop-up unhanded exception, it is
not very useful; and there is no error message when it aborts under plain
wine...

Console output from installing and then launching Soundslides
A Ubuntu 8.04 user posted a message on the forum that Soundslides Plus in Wine
was not displaying some of the text that would normally be displayed in
Windows. She posted screenshots of how it appeared on her computer in both Wine
and Windows.
I downloaded the demo and found that the text did not appear on my system
either; a third forum user also confirmed that they saw the problem, too. One
person, however, tested the demo and did not experience this problem. There
was some discussion as to what differences between our systems might be the
cause, but no clear pattern emerged.
The original poster contacted the program's developer, who noted in his reply
that "All of the missing text is rendered via the same font (coded as "_sans"
which should target to your default sans-serif system font)." The developer
thought the problem might be missing MS core fonts, however, both the original
poster and I already had the core fonts on our systems, and copying them to
Wine's windows/fonts directory did not solve the problem.
I am uploading my console output from installing the program and then launching
it, along with a screenshot of what should be the EULA during the install.

The glitch - a big black box
When opening The Curse of Monkey Island, the first thing you have to do is to
choose the difficulty in the game (normal or 'Mega-Monkey'). In that screen, if
you then let the mouse cursor hover over one of the options (rendering the
cursor cross red) for some time, a big black box appears (probably a badly
rendered tool-tip). This box disappears instantly when moving the mouse and it
doesn't come back again at this instance if you rest the mouse again over one
of the options (unless you start up the game again and repeat the process). The
box seems to come up a the exact same location on the screen every time.
See the attached screenshot.

In trying to work through and get Everquest2 to work on my T60p with
ATI's latest drivers I kept on getting a unable to find an appropriate iPixel
Format.
Debugging the code I found the following in
dll\wined3d\context.c
on line 148 the if statement there is irrelevent because of the line above it.
by removing the if around the statment it seems to now have resolved the issue.
here is the fix I did
if(DepthStencilFormat != WINED3DFMT_D24S8)
FIXME("Add OpenGL context recreation support to
SetDepthStencilSurface\n");
DepthStencilFormat = WINED3DFMT_D24S8;
/* if(DepthStencilFormat) { Changed June 19,08*/
getDepthStencilBits(DepthStencilFormat, &depthBits, &stencilBits);
/* } */
Now I do not get the error anymore.
Also I changed line 173 - 181 to one if statement instead of 3 like so :
if ((cfgs->redSize != redBits) || (cfgs->greenSize != greenBits) ||
(cfgs->blueSize != blueBits) || (cfgs->alphaSize != alphaBits))
continue;
Can others getting the iPixel Format error test the above fix and tell me if it
breaks anything or fixes it..

"Nightlong" is an adventure game released in 1998 by Team 17. It works well in
Wine, except for sound - music, ambient, dialogue - not working every time the
game is started, but only sometimes.
Tested Wine versions include 0.9.61 and 1.0rc1. I have never run the game with
an earlier version of Wine, so I have no "known good" to use in a bisect, and
don't know if the problem is a regression.
A Wine default config was used, except for the Windows version being set to
"Windows 98" as it seemed most appropriate given the age of the game. The bug
also happens with "Windows XP", however.
A demo of the game is available here:
http://www.fileplanet.com/28736/20000/fileinfo/Nightlong:-Union-City-Conspi…
However, I have used a patched full version of the game, not the demo.
I have created two logs with WINEDEBUG=+dsalsa,+wave as instructed by
mlankhorst on IRC. The first log is from a session in which sound is working,
the second from a session in which sound is not working. Both logs cover the
same actions: Starting the game, skipping the intro video, and in the
subsequent first interactive screen, double-clicking an interactive object to
make the player character utter a line of dialogue. Then, bringing up the menu
and quitting the game again. The logs are attached as gzipped plain text files.
I'm available to provide further debug information and test any patches or
solutions.

Summary: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Cannot load outdoor saves
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: moabrahams(a)dashavoo.com
In Oblivion I cannot load a game from the title screen that I saved outside
unless I start a new game or load an indoor save and then load the outdoor one.
Indoor saved games load without any problem from the title screen.
When trying to load an outdoor save from the title screen one of two things
happen. Sometimes the loading bar gets stuck and I have to kill the process,
other times the loading bar goes to the end, but the screen remains black. I
can hear people talking now and then, and I can hear music, but attempting to
swing a sword doesn't make a noise, and pressing escape doesn't display the
menu. Then I have to kill the process again.
When it hangs on the loadbar the following output appears in the console used
to launch wine:
Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000015 at address 0x7bc42f08 (thread
0027)

The main fixmes that appear during gameplay, with notes about their appearance
Team Fortress works fine for the first few minutes, but after that it becomes
slower and slower until finally the only way to see (or hear) the gameplay
continue is to constantly jiggle the mouse.
I'm not sure exactly what solves it, but *sometimes* (not always) restarting or
changing the wine version fixes it, though no matter if it's 0.9.59 or 1.0-rc5
it will eventually start again if I open the game again during the same
startup.
I have been playing TF2 perfectly under dx8.1 with graphics turned all the way
up (and res as high as possible, 1680x1050) and it has worked excellently with
no problems except for the server webpage at the first page when you choose a
server (it's just black).
Half Life 2 and the sequels still work just as fine.
I managed to capture the bug while outputting to a text file. I've attached a
text file of the main fixmes that appear at that time that seem to cause the
error (It's mainly lots of repeats and is ~81,000 lines long without cutting),
but the orginal will be attached too since it's only 6 MB.

After upgrading to the 1.0 RC's, Half-Life (and Half-Life: Blue Shift) fail to
start.
When starting, the main menu background shows up for about five seconds, and
the user is then ejected back out of the game.
Running in the terminal shows a lot of err's and fixme's (like always), but no
recognizable crash message of any kind.
After downgrading to 0.9.61 Half-Life started just fine, leading me to believe
that this is a regression of sorts.
Also, since neither Half-Life nor Blue Shift would start, it's my guess that
none of the Half-Life GoldSrc-based games will start (including Opposing Force
and Decay) - therefore I'm rating it as a 'major' severity.
Attached is the output I get from running the game under Wine 0.9.61 (where it
works). It is exactly the same output as running it under Wine 1.0-RC4 (AFAIK).

Font size set to 12 in Delphi/WINE.
Hey all,
after the installation of Delphi worked without noteworthy problems, I am now
experiencing a couple of issues with WINE drawing/printing things, which might
be easily fixable due to the fact that they are just graphical problems.
First one: in Delphi one can set various font sizes for elements like Labels,
Panel and so on, which works fine in Windows. But WINE shows a strange behavior
here: when changing from font size 12 to 14 WINE does nothing, whereas in
Windows the font size really grows. Also, you could set the the size to 100 (I
did for testing purposes in the screenshots), but WINE does not change any size
but uses still the 12pt size, it seems that something is broken there within
WINE.
Well that's happening in the "designer" mode, but it seems to be the same on
runtime, so I guess there might be also other applications hitting that bug
with binary programs (Screenshots flagged with "Runtime") ...
Second one: properties changed in the object inspector should be bold when they
are not set to the default value. That's a nice feature which helps people to
see which property *they* changed and makes it easy to revert bad decisions.
However, WINE does not print them in bold font or anything
This bug is not limited to object inspector though, NO fonts in Delphi's
"design" mode are bold, even when set to that, but instead WINE ignores it,
even in the compiled program later on.
This does NOT hit the editor in Delphi which is able to show wonderful bold
text.
You can find plenty examples for this bug in the "Delphi-Size-xx" screenshots.
Third issue: that is a little bit more complicated indeed and might not be
easily to fix in contrast to the first ones.
As you may or may not know (at least you will see it) Delphi has something like
a box with verbose compiler messages at the bottom side of the editor.
Now one can double click on the first message and the editor is jumping to that
specific line where an error or a warning occured, setting the background of
that line to red for better visibility.
We fix that issue (or not ;)) and double click on the second entry in that
box... this time the editor should jump to the second error line and so on,
like above, but there are some problems with WINE.
When clicking on the second entry the editor is NOT jumping to the second
erratic line but to the first one and the first entry remains
"activated"/highlighted in that box.
It is possible to override/"fix" that behavior by clicking into that box one
time and then selecting the entry one wants to have a closer look at and THAN
double click on it/in the box.
Well, as that might be possible, it's not very comfortable and not the default
behavior and should be fixed as well. :)
So that are my three points so far, I could not find any other bugs yet. ;)
You will have some screenshots attached both with WINEs (version 0.9.51 with
that little msi patch of truiken) behavior and the one under a natively running
Windows (not on the same boxes, though, but that should not cause any problems)
in the next comment. (By the way, why does Bugzilla allow only one attachment
in the first Bug Commit?)
-Ionic
(The entries in the StringGrid you see there in two of the screenshots are just
plain fiction; neither the names nor the attributes given there correspond to
the reality. (I included this to prevent privacy legality actions.))

The following warning produced by the configure script can be misleading:
configure: libhal development files not found, no dynamic device support.
This warning occurs on Debian Unstable/amd64, where there is no
/usr/lib32/libdbus-1.so by default. Creating a symlink that points to
/usr/lib32/libdbus-1.so.3 fixes the error.

Summary: Supreme Commander won't let me select high fidelity
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc4
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquitsnake(a)gmx.net
This game let's me select high fidelity in the options on Windows on the same
hardware. In Wine, I can only choose between Low and Medium.
I think the game determines the available options on the graphics capabilities
that get reported to it. So I don't know if it's really a Wine problem or one
of the Linux Nvidia driver (I use 169.12 on GF8600GT. Even a 6800LE on Windows
allows for high fidelity)
I'm happy to help in case of further questions (like testing what capabilites
the game asks for)

During a testing run with win 1.0rc2 on Debian lenny/sid (almost all packages
from testing) I found the keyboard is not working:
I cant enter any text inside a game, thus I cant create any accout to test it
further.
Instead the characters entered appear on stderr and are passed to the shell on
exit.

Output from running AC11-NOR.exe, and Setup.exe manually after extraction
Trying to run the installer for ArchiCad 11, it fails after extraction.
Going into the directory c:\windows\temp\ArchiCad 11, where the files were
extracted, and starting up Setup.exe, if fails within a second with a page
fault.
Before Setup crashes, a "Installing Java Runtime" briefly flashes on screen.
I can't read the output, but it might be Java related, seeing that the Java
Runtime that comes with the demo also crashes (but that might be a whole other
bug report). ArchiCad is java based, so the JRE install is vital.

Summary: Supreme Commander: Black bar obscuring screen when
fidelity >low
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.58.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquitsnake(a)gmx.net
As soon as the fidelity is set from low to medium, there will be a black bar
obscuring half of the screen (terrain textures, to be to the point)
This seems to be somehow related to shadows. Enabling shadows to either low or
medium settings results in the black bar shrinking from the upper half of the
screen to only obscuring the upper right corner.
