Terminal output
Game crashes at certain points of the game when sound is enabled.The first time
this is encountered is when selecting a menu option of the main menu.Sometimes
you can get past this, but it will crash shortly after entering the first
building, when you get control of the player.There is a workaround posted on
the appdb page, however it doesn't work for me.
The crashes don't occur when sound is disabled through winecfg, or through the
game itself, however, because the driver of the car at the start of the game
doesn't say anything, you get out of the car earlier which results in you being
stuck inside/behind the rubbish bin and you can't move back to the other side.
Last few lines of terminal output are attached.I didn't post the entire log, as
it comes out as a 2.8M file, and I have a slow upload speed.The preceding
output is just the glDisable GL_FOG fixme, repeating over and over.

This was mentioned in all test results on AppDb but I found no bugreport for
this so far.
The Problem: the game movies do not have any sound whatsoever. Additionally
there are background sounds/music and character voices missing ingame. As far
as I can tell, the same problem exists in the downloadable demo I linked.
I have played around a bit with ALSA/OSS settings and emulation mode but had no
success with it. I'm testing on Ubuntu 8.04 x86_64 with kernel
2.6.24-17-generic and snd_intel_hda sound using wine-0.9.61 from
wine.budgetdedicated.com repository.

Everything was working fine on Ubuntu Gutsy (updated to Feb 29th) then I
applied a wine update 0.9.55 to 0.9.56 and now I cannot see any of the card art
in mws play.
Upgrading to version 0.9.57 does not fix this problem.
I reverted to version Wine 0.9.55 i386 on ubuntu gutsy and now I can see the
cards again. If you have the same problem do the following:
1) Backup your .wine directory in your home folder
2) In a terminal window type in the following "sudo apt-get remove --purge
wine"
3) Download the 0.9.55 version from here
wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html
4) Install it by double clicking the .deb file
5) Run MWS. If its not there restore your .wine profile directory that you
backed up previously.
Hope this helps anyone who had the same problem

When importing some mp3s into Live, short glitches appear in the right channel.
I think these are introduced in the import stage because they appear in the
waveform view, zooming in shows that these are a high frequency square wave.
This seems to happen mostly on mp3s from beatport.com, I have tried loading the
files into live running on windows xp and they are fine.
I'm running Wine 1.1.3 on gentoo amd64.
Which debug logs would be useful?

While not critical, it is quite annoying. The cursor is drawn without
transparency (appears black). Then, while moving the cursor, it inherits
artifacts from various parts of the screen. This gets in the way of the game,
as it is a "point-n-click" game and you need to be able to accurately click on
objects. I have died more than once due to this bug.
This happens with all 0.9.x releases up to 0.9.60 and including the most recent
git version.
I would like to assist in resolving, but I need some guidence as to how to
track down the issue. I assume the program is using a software cursor and the
code in DirectX8 related to that would be a good starting point.

Hello, I'm using this version on Debian 4.0. I have a program, for making map
images (graphics-intensive). After few minutes (2-6) of generating images it
hangs with such output:

There seems to be a bug in which the sky in the beginning of the game is all
white. This didn't happen in Windows XP. There's a screenshot of this in the
screenshot gallery of the game:

I think this happened on Vista though I can't confirm that at the moment, but
it definitely worked fine on XP. Unfortunately as there are no error messages
that I'm aware of that happen when this glitch occurs I can't post anything

When executing X-Plane 7.60 it works fine (also installation) but when you
close it, then it crashes the GUI: all the screen is black flashing. If you are
able to close the session and reopen it again, the system comes back to
normality.
It seems that it is not able to come back from a resolution 1024x780 to
1280x1024 and it becomes crazy.
Anyway how could I get debug information from the process.

Using Electronic Workbench MultiSim 8, I go to global restrictions, and I get a
username-less password prompt. Have no idea if this is multisim or wine
related, but my teacher whom has been using multisim since version 7 (now 10)
has never seen it before in windows. help. Attachment shows the applications
open with the password prompt, and the terminal output in a yakuake window
(just a dropdown terminal, google it). The Fixme: secur32: getusernameexa lines
were written during the application launch (splash screen). Nothing above them,
they just repeat all the way back to the prompt, with nothing else.

Microsoft Visual C++ is working to a large extent.
When I click on a resource file in the resource tab
of the left-hand navigation area, opening the resource
file and displaying the resources does not work.
(The various resource groups, like Dialogs,

Since I was able to run FFXI on a NVIDIA card, I think it's an ATI-specific
issue. Unfortunately I cannot use the previous version of the driver (8.8) as
there is a known screen corruption issue with WINE, and the radeonHD driver

information on my hardware.

simple vb6 chr0 comparison project
I've found a BIG problem in VB6 string (BSTR) comparison.
The VB6 program perform this very simple check. In Windows s is different from
chr$(0) (null char) but in wine NOT!

If s = Chr$(0) Then MsgBox "ERROR, MUST NOT BE EQUAL!!!" Else MsgBox "OK!"

This is a major bug, since chr$(0) is used in many ways in vb6 (and also in
API)
I've tried this simple program in Wine 0.9.49 and wine 1.1.2 with the same
result.
I think this bug should be fixed for wine 1.2!

Console output from wine while running Metal Fatigue
Game installs fine from the CDs, but needs a NO-CD crack to circumvent the copy
protection it has.
After applying the crack, the game starts successfully and the main menu
appears (the intro movie is skipped because of the unavailability of the video
codec, but that's not the problem here).
Various d3d7 errors are displayed on the shell (reported in the attachment) but
they are not blocking the menu from displaying and working correctly.
As soon as I choose to start a multiplayer game or a skirmish, the game shows a
screen for a bunch of seconds, then crashes to desktop.
If I choose to start a new campaign, I can select which campaign to start
(there are 3: Rimtech, Milagro and Neuropa), but, after this, the game crashes
to desktop because of an unhandled exception (as you can see in the log
attached).
I'm running on a Slamd64 12.0 machine, with a Athlon 64 FX 55 (single core)
CPU, 1GB RAM and an ATI Radeon X800XT (with 8.7 Catalyst drivers). This same
crash occurs even on a HP Pavillion ze4900 laptop I have (Intel Celeron M 1.2
Ghz, 512 MB RAM, Intel GMA 82855 Graphics card) running Slackware 12.1, so I
believe it is not related only to a 64 bit enviroment or to ATI proprietary
graphics card drivers.
I tried installing the game in a clean WINEPREFIX, but this didn't change
anything.
I've set wine to run as "Windows 98" and "Windows XP", but the crash still
happens in both cases.

Sometimes the vertical scroll bar is incorrectly omitted, when there is text
past the bottom of the window.
To demonstrate, download chess.hlp from

Start Wine winhlp32, and without resizing its window, open chess.hlp. Click on
"Article: What is GNU Chess". The bottom line is not shown but there is no
vertical scroll bar. If you resize the window (e.g. reduce its width to make it
narrower) the scroll bar may appear, but sometimes it does not, depending on
the exact width you resize to.

stderr when trying to load or begin the game.
Sound works correctly during the intro cutscene, however after entering the
menu it hangs. After trying to begin a new game or load an existing one, the
game becomes irresponsive.
Wine exits on clicking the "Audio" tab in the setup utility launched from the
Red Faction launcher.
The problem occurs on both ALSA and OSS.

patch to call SetItemFocus while scrolling with ctrl down
The comctrl32 listview module will toggle the selection of all items scrolled
over when the ctrl key is held down. This is contrary to Windows behavior.
The fix is to check for the control key and set the item if it is down, unless
space is pressed, in which case the toggle should be performed.

There are some effects missing when running under Wine, that are present
running on Windows.
I believe most of them are related to bloom and HDR, so they are easy to miss
if you don't have a Windows version to compare.

Applications stop receiving keyboard events after a popup window (for example,
a menu) is unmapped, until global focus is switched out of the application and
back.
Environment:
Fedora Linux 7, KDE 3.5.8, SCIM 1.4.5, Anthy 9100d, WINE 0.9.52~0.9.56
(basically, the latest versions from the official update repositories)
SCIM enabled and configured for Japanese input using Anthy.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Start WINE notepad with SCIM enabled.
2) Type some text to ensure that the keyboard works
3) Invoke a menu item, e.g. Undo or Paste
==> Once the menu popup disappears, keyboard focus is completely lost,
including all menu shortcuts
4) Do one of the following:
a) Move or resize the window
b) Switch focus to another application and back
c) Switch to a different keyboard layout using a global KDE shortcut
==> Keyboard functionality is restored
Possibly related problem:
Keyboard does not work at all when a virtual desktop is used, i.e:
XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM wine explorer /desktop=test,1024x768 notepad.exe
Work-around:
XMODIFIERS='' fixes both problems.
P.S. It seems that keyboard input is restored when a FocusIn event is received,
but I may be wrong (all of the three actions above cause FocusOut+FocusIn to be
received).

Too reproduce this bug, select a portion of the music to play. Make sure the
program is set to use RSE and select it to loop playback of the selection. For
this run through, have all instrument volume at the max or default level and
then mute them while playing. The muted tracks will be muted, but when it
begins to play from the start of the selection again, the muted tracks will
play at the initial volume, even though the slider is still set to zero
A way around this is to mute the tracks first, then start play back.
Using Wine version 1.0-rc3. This was not an option in the version list.

backtrace running falcon4 with wine 1.0RC1
I'm trying to run Flacon 4.0 Allied Force version 1.0.1.50613.
The installation works, but when running it crash.
The problem is with wine 1.0RC1, but wasn't present in wine 0.9.58 (but
attention, with RC1 crash before to see the first screen, with wine 0.9.58 che
first screen is seen but crash after, trying to play the game).
I tried settings wine as windows xp, windows 2000 and windows 98...same result.
I didn't try to install the patch of Falcon4.0 cause all people tell it give
more problems in wine (don't finish the installation or more).
The fixme GL_INVALID_OPERATION don't seem to create problem cause I get the
same in wine 0.9.58 but it doesn't stop the running.
I tried with a clean installation, installing also the directx but the problem
persist.
Seems a problem with amstream.dll, so I have tried to copy that file of a
windows xp installation setting the dll as native, but it crash however.
Reading on the web in same forums, tell to install windows media player to get
that library in wine...I have tried with wmp9 and wmp10 successfully but the
library is not installed.

i'm testing medieval total war and the latest version (git or 1.0rc) crash very
early, when in the past it work longer... so this is a regression.
the crash log will be attached, but the error was:

This is dotnet fw 2 program.
When I create an area, the program draws a graphical area and everything else
on the window becomes black, including menu's and buttons. If I move cursor
over items, they clip nicely so they are there and useable, but for some reason
black. If I click picture and menu's, there is significant lag on switching
them. The following error is displayed on this:

The console output of the command wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/E/E.exe
With wine 0.9.59 I get a strange problem with a specific program. A program
that only I have access to, and unfortunatly cant send to you. But I will
explain the problem to see if it can help to find any bugs in any way.
The program is written in Delphi and it works in wine, but with wine 0.9.59 it
starts to behave strange. When clicking in a menu (like, edit, file.. etc) the
window moves down a bit and the bottom is outside of the screen. Maximizing the
window makes it the correct size, but it is draged to the lower part of the
screen, and there is space left at the top, with a height equal to the desktops
statusbar below.
Repeated clicking in file menu makes the window go down even more.
The pgoram notepad++ works as it should.

In Fable: The Lost Chapters (Version 1.0), a graphical issue was introduced as
of 0.9.57. Unsightly black, halo-like artifacts surround NPC characters. I've
attached a screenshot to illustrate. I was able to reproduce the issue on two
different systems. Additionally, I've tried rolling back to 0.9.56 and 0.9.55,
and was unable to reproduce the issue on either version across the same two
test systems. I'm fairly sure this is a regression introduced in 0.9.57.

Until recently, I was sure that 3D Game Studio version A6.40.5 worked. But a
specific 3DGS game, which is really a tool to build shaders, could not be
tested earlier, because the built-in compilation of .fx files was not yet
implemented. This compiler-DLL is not the cause of the bug, but being able to
run SMEE2, which is this tool, only compiled with 3DGS as if it was a game,
shows a subtle glitch in the handling of strings of text.
3D Game Studio has its own system for displaying 3D sprites, 2D panels, text
objects and other 2D objects, which may not translate well into OpenGL.
But when displaying text objects, some internal form of newline characters are
interpreted by 3DGS running under Windows, by allowing a single string to
continue on the next line. The way this translates when running under Wine, the
next line overstrikes the previous line, without shifting downward.
This results in somewhat amusing display in the settings of SMEE2, where text
is supposed to be superimposed on a multi-colored background panel, to fit into
tabular form. But only a first line with superimposed characters displays
instead of each table of settings.
It makes the selection of shader parameters impossible from within this tool,
even though the shaders themselves may render well by now.
