This area was not redrawn.
During race, Colin McRae Rally 2.0 draws neither road nor other
background (see attached picture), i.e. the game is unplayable.
This affects both the commercial and the demo version, available from
http://downloads.gamezone.com/demosfiles/t1582.htmhttp://cdn.gamezone.com/pub/gamezone/16/0/86/cmr2pcdemo.zip
This may be a driver issue. I'm using Ubuntu 8.04 with the Intel XOrg
video driver.
This could as well be a "Wine's DirectX6 not good enough" issue.
The in-game graphics selection menu displays no other "choice" than
"DirectDraw HAL", i.e. only DirectX6 is recognized.
Indeed, during install, a requester says "your machine is not ... for
DirectX7". The DirectX7a installer is distributed with the game.
So this could be a DirectX7 detection issue.
Alas, the game's configuration (Configuration/*.rcf) is a binary file, so I
cannot change the graphics driver.
Default trace output is attached. It contains a lot of
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_convert_format Cannot find a conversion function from
format WINED3DFMT_DXT5 to WINED3DFMT_A4R4G4B4
with XxYx16bit or
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_convert_format Cannot find a conversion function from
format WINED3DFMT_DXT5 to WINED3DFMT_A8R8G8B8
with a XxYx32bit resolution setting.
Could that be related to the missing background?

The attached test program demonstrates the expected behaviour, it will pass if
launched from windows explorer and fail if run from the commandline.
Under wine, the expected explorer behaviour has been implemented in wine start
using the /Unix switch. It is almost correct, but is missing a space after the
quoted commandline.
The following test program demonstrates the expected behaviour and issues a
pass/fail message.
I've submitted a patch to correct this.

Log
As reported in the comments.
I have installed Civ4 and the warlords expansion so far. I installed the DX9
patch and the missing librairies as mentioned, however I cannot find the
librairies I am supposed to delete in the game directory. Are they hidden?
Both games produce these errors at startup:
Error locating tag node in SetGlobalClassInfo function
Current XML file is : GameInfo/CIV4PlayerOptionInfos.xml
Error locating tag node in SetGlobalClassInfo function
Current XML file is : GameInfo/CIV4GraphicOptionInfos.xml
And afterwards the game vanishes. A log from the original CIV4 game is included

Crash from DAoC at loading screen.
Hi!
I'm playing dark age of camelot with wine and would like to select to newer
models (catacombs models).
When I enable pixel shaders from winecfg, DAoC crashed just after the character
selection screen is loaded.
I managed to get the crash dump from a terminal ( see atachment ).
Thanks for helping out!

Old computer was amd64, 2Gig RAM, nVidia 7800GTS running Gentoo Linux
(unstable).
wine has always run my games reasonably well :)
New computer (old one died) intel Core2 Quad, nVidia 9800GX2, 4Gig Ram - again
running Gentoo Linux (unstable)
After $random amount of time games suddenly slowdown to less than a frame per
second and/or lock hard. Mouse is still responsive, but cannot actually click
anything. Sound either stops or loops over the same part. Launching game via
console does not show anything out of the ordinary. I've ruled out audio as
turning off audio in either game doesn't alleviate the issue.
When game locks like this, the OS is still perfectly usable - can alt-tab out,
email, browse, compile, etc. Closing the game I can re-start it again. However,
this is not entirely desirable :)
Games affected
EVE-Online Classix
EVE-Online Premium
World Of Warcraft (OpenGL mode)
I can't get EVE to run under wine debugger via relay. When I terminate the
debugger EVE then starts. I can no longer test WoW as my account expired.
EVE wrapped cedega client does not exhibit this issue, neither do native games
such as Doom3 or Quake4.
If any more information is required to help fix this issue, no matter how
small, I'm happy to help :)

Currently, Wine winhelp renders drop shadows on popup boxes as solid black.
Windows 95 WINHLP32.EXE uses a cross-hatch pattern, so drop shadows appear
semi-transparent. I think Wine winhelp should do the same.

episode 1 racer terminal output
Install works fine; opening menu works fine; crashes after clicking play.
In winecfg I have tryed windows versions 98 and XP. I have tryed with and
without desktop emulation. I have tryed with and without the Pixel shader. All
with same result.
Any other suggestions? I would be happy to get this working; it crashes
intermittently while playing it on winXP.
I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 with wine 1.0.0 from the repo.
Thank you.
