logs running "wine wowus.exe"
Hi,
I don't know if this is one or more (or none) bugs. I'm on an Ubuntu Gutsy 64
bits, trying to run WoWus.exe (an application used to manage World of Warcraft
addons).
Here are my logs (in attachment).
Trying to install ms windows commons controls with wine-doors, I have a strange
issue : version 5 cannot be removed, so to install version 6; but wine-doors
seems to install v6 without errors.
Thanks for any help,
Julien

Picture of the bug
Sega Smash pack II is having some resolution problems. This problem has been
around for a while.
Gameplay is meant to take up the whole screen at a somewhat low resolution.
While the game takes up a whole screen, (It's all black as if it was
fullscreen) the actual game, menus, and other things are only displayed in the
upper left-hand corner of the screen. It seems that the screen isn't resizing
resolution properly.
Effects such as fading in from white at the start logo affect the whole screen,
if that's of any use. Since there are only 2 fixme's it shouldn't hurt to post
'em.

Summary: RTK XI: Graphics corruption until zbuffer depth is
changed
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.5
Platform: PC
URL: http://rotk.co.uk/demo/RTK-XI-Demo.exe
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: knan-wine(a)anduin.net
Steps to reproduce:
* Download and install the demo.
* Start the game with wine "RTK XI Demo.exe"
* Start the "Country Basics" tutorial
* Click through the conversation
* Scroll around until you get obviously corrupted graphics, like in my first
picture. May be right away, may be after scrolling/zooming/panning a bit. Not
completely reproducible.
* Go into options, change the z depth of the game resolution (1024x768x32x16 to
1024x768x32x24, for example)
* Corruption is gone.
... something using uninitialized data? Perhaps we provide an uncleared buffer
to the game of some sort?
Nvidia 7950/G71, drivers 169.12. No native dlls, the game seems to be using
plain d3d9.

Please file a bug for this at http://bugs.winehq.org
Per his suggestion, I found that starting from scratch with everything (new
.wine and fresh XNEWS directory) yields a working XNEWS. Since there is no
XNEWS install, per se, and I'd previously forced .wine to be recreated from
scratch, this shows that some XNEWS setting can cause wine (through 1.0rc4) to
lose the panel icon for the running program. Not good, but since a completely
clean install restores order, it's not critical for me. For others who have
more invested in an already installed program set, it might be much more
intrusive.
