Summary: Ventrilo takes 100% of CPU and input ceases to function
after some time using Audigy soundcards
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: beshwa(a)gmail.com
Ventrilo will eventually hit 100% CPU usage after using it for some time. That
time can be within minutes or after several hours. At that point, mic input
ceases to work, though I can still hear others. The Ventrilo application
itself won't quit when closed once this happens, though killing it with signal
15 or 9 does work. I'm using Wine 1.0 with an Audigy 4 card on an AMD64 system.
Another AMD64 system with an Audigy 2 card exhibits the same problem. I've
tried all variety of winecfg audio settings to no avail.
After changing to my on-board nvidia soundcard I haven't noticed the problem
occur again, so it appears to be an interaction with Audigy (emu10k) sound
cards.

Game installed through Wine 1.0 and PlayonLinux
When I click in the launcher to start the game, the sound clip associated to
the "start" button crashes and basically "hicks up" like if the OS would freeze
when you play music and overrides all audio in-game. The game still runs
appropriately however, though very slow considering my specs (Q6600 + 4GB Ram +
Gefore 8800GT)

Normal console output from wine run (no WINEDEBUG)
Using (unpatched) GotY version of the game "No One Lives Forever".
I didn't find a patch for the GotY one. I suspect it's already patched.
Issue: Long audio samples get truncated. This happens for example with the
intro sequence music or when characters have conversations. Audio is simply cut
off at the end. Pretty bad if subtitles are off.
Going to attach the console output. Nothing suspicious there.
Setting component to directx-dsound since I'm pretty sure that NOLF uses a
dsound audio backend.

Summary: Regression: Unable to Install Word Perfect Office 11,

Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.3

With Wine 1.1.3 I am no longer able to install any MSI based version Word
Perfect Office. I have tried all Wine development versions up to 1.1.7 without
success. By contrast, these version of Word Perfect Office install OK with
Wine 1.1.2 and back to Wine 1.0.0 and earlier. So this is a regression.
The InstallShield installer reports:
"The wizard was interrupted before Paradox could be completely installed."
The console log symptoms are:

It is also necessary to kill an InstallShield program before Wine will exit:
C:\PROG~FBU\COMM~CP1\INST~JM1\Driver\7\INTE~MEX\IDriver.exe -Embedding
I have run a 'full regression' between Wine 1.1.2 and Wine 1.1.3. The end
result of which was:
ubuntu@holly:wine$ git bisect good
e10302d95207f5a01bf3e0a2810d1671b49eed57 is first bad commit

Surprised by this result, I ran the regression again. The end result of the
second run was:
$ git bisect bad

I believe that during the second regression I was able to install successfully
using builds against commits made between the two shown above.
I tried installing against the end result of the second regression run. Each
attempt failed. I then attempted the installation using WINEDEBUG=+relay in
order to collect a detailed log for submission. The installation was
successful. I ran the installer again without the WINEDEBUG=+relay and it
failed with the InstallShield wizard claiming it had been interrupted.
Installs are done using a script that starts by deleting .wine to ensure
consistent, valid results. The scripts installs winetricks corefonts wsh56 for
Word Perfect Office 11 and 12 and winetricks corefonts wsh56 gecko fakeie6 for
Word Perfect Office X3. I have used this script for testing purpose since Wine
1.0.0.
Trials against Wine 1.0.0. through 1.1.7 were run in kvm/qemu virtual machines.
A new clone of an up-to-date Ubuntu Hardy was used for each Wine version. The
Ubuntu variant is Xubuntu - an Xfce desktop under gdm. I used SDL to display
VGA output rather than a VNC session.
The regressions were run on a real machine also with an up-to-date Ubuntu
Hardy, but the Kubuntu variant - KDE desktop under kdm. For the sake of
completeness, XDMCP was used to log in to the main server from where an ssh -X
was used to login in to the machine on which the regression were run and the
installations attempted.
I use CC="ccache gcc" to cut down build times. The second regression run was
not expected to compile anything but, since the bisection was not the same, I
guess it must have.
Sorry, but trial versions of these old releases of Word Perfect Office are no
longer available for download.
Any suggestions as to how I can get some information that might be more helpful
?

Firefox on Windows shows the box properly. It's a minor issue, but just looks
