Guild Wars supports on windows DRM content, which can be purchased through

So I have purchased it but it does not work in an Linuxenvironment or in wine,
because of the lack of supporting Digital Rights Management inside wma-files.

The "thumb" in the scroll bar's of DC++ (version 0.706 and 0.707) Notepad Frame
can initially start the wrong size, but moving it makes it turn to the correct
size.
To replicate this, open up DC++ in wine. Open the Notepad Frame. Put in about
7 vertical scrolls worth of text. Close the Notepad. Re-open.
After re-opening the notepad frame, the "thumb" is tiny, after scrolling it
changes to the correct size.

Created an attachment (id=12347)

testcase for problem
Attached testcase illustrates the problem. The problem was originally found in
a fan-developed Forsaken mod. I couldn't get feedback on this on wine-devel, so
I'm opening a bug for this. Close if it's not a bug or is non-fixable.
How to reproduce: hold a key and move mouse over the window, preferably also
clicking mouse buttons, main loop latency steadily increases from 10 to 50 (and
even 100) in a short time. In a game this means going from 100 fps to 20 or 10
just because of input messages. Has to be noted that in the actual game the
rate of slowdown seemed at least 2-3 times faster when just holding one key and
moving mouse, for reasons I don't know, but the testcase still should enough to
show the problem.
What the testcase is doing is bad practice, it's basically refusing to process
certain types of messages, and PeekMessage just once during a loop is probably
bad as well, but that's what the game was originally doing in its main game
loop. There are several concerns about it:
1) No slowdown happens on Windows, either in game or in this testcase. No
matter how much I move the mouse holding key and clicking madly, it shows same
stable 15-16 ticks latency in the testcase. I don't know what it does, but
somehow it handles this situation better than Wine.
2) Can this (broken) way of doing things be exposing some inefficiency in
message handling, maybe something that could use optimization? I tried to put
debug hacks into queue_hardware_message(), it seems that when slowdown is
already VERY bad in Forsaken (10fps), message queue in wine server has about
400 or maybe 600 messages. Is that kind of processing overhead per message
inevitable? (This is happening on AMD Athlon(tm) 3200+). Perhaps somebody who
knows that part of code well may be interested in looking into performance
issues in this case. Because, if 400-600 messages in the queue slow down the
application to a crawl, then who knows, perhaps it decreases performance of
more well-behaved but input-intensive apps as well, just less drastically
(holding one or several keys to move, all the while aiming with mouse and
abusing mouse buttons is a common thing in games, so there can be quite a few
input messages flooding the server).

Summary: Max Payne 2: sepia tone filter issues (high PPE)
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0

OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
CC: onety-three(a)gmx.net
Hi,
this is a cleaned up version of the issues first described in
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14038.
Game affected: Max Payne 2 (demo version tested)
Issue: MP2 uses some fullscreen post-processing effects to enhance gaming
experience. The famous bullet time effect is using a sepia tone filter, which
breaks on wine when certain ingame options are set.
MP2 offers two modes of post-processing effect quality (switching them
completly off is also possible):
(i) medium -> the sepia filter works
(ii) high -> sepia filter breaks
Notice that MP2 also uses some other PP (post-processing) effects, like a
motion blur filter in cutscenes. The filter from the cutscenes is NOT affected
by this issue described here, although it also affects the entire screen.
The issue also appears with wine-0.9.56.
Issue is gone when going back to wine-0.9.45, but the rendered area is now
confined in a rectangular portion of the visible screen. (read more about this
at the end (*))
Regression testing turned up this commit:
[d09cbcec91561186bee77aaba55b29cbf2d7e7ef] wined3d: Activate
GL_ARB_texture_rectangle.
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=shortlog;h=d09cbcec91561186bee77aa…
Notice the other five wined3d commits by Stefan Dösinger.
Somehow using ARB_tex_rect instead of using NP2 emulation breaks the sepia
filter, but leaves the motion blur intact.
In fact this commit does also correct "scaling" issues with the other PP
effect, motion blur (again see below (*)).
My wine settings for MP2:
UseGLSL=disabled
OffscreenRenderingMode=backbuffer
RenderTargetLockMode=auto
It doesn't matter though is ORM is set to backbuffer or fbo, the issue also is
reproducible with ORM=fbo. However testing this with ORM=backbuffer makes it
easier for me because of other issues with FBO (plus FBO generates a lot of
FIXME noise on the console).
Graphics hardware used to confirm:
(i) Me, using a Geforce FX 5900
(ii) Frank Roscher, using a Geforce FX 5700
Drivers versions:
(i) FX 5900 driven with 100.14.19 and 173.14.09 (makes no difference)
(ii) FX 5700 driven by driver version 169.12
(*) Interesting facts with wine-0.9.45:
Like I said above PPE set to high work with this version, but the rendered area
is suffering from "scaling issues". This can be reproduced all the time with
the bullettime filter.
However there are also the cutscenes, using the motion blur filter. The funny
thing there is that they are also affected by the scaling issue, BUT not
always.
Watch the first cutscene sequence after you gain control over Max in the
hospital room (the cutscene begins when you are right in front of the double
door). The scaling issue changes during the cutscene to correct rendering, and
back after some moments.
I don't know if the changes from "wrong scaling" to "correct scaling" and
vice-versa are always the same but I'm going to check that again.
Greets,
Tobias

If this is already documented, please add this to the Jet 4.0 install

When trying to compile Wine 1.0-rc1 in Mac OS X Leopard, Wine errors during

failing. If i run 'make -k' to ignore the error, wine successfully compiles,
however this just ignores the problem, not solves it.

When compiling Wine on Mac OS X under some installs, it fails to find X11's
libraries and include files.
The only thing that I can think of that's different is the lack of imake and
xmkmf. The default Leopard X11 install includes imake and xmkmf, however, if
someone chooses to not install base X11 and instead install Xquartz at a later
date, they do not get imake and xmkmf because they are not shipped with Xquartz
as of 2.2.0 - see http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki/X112.2.0 .
If the locations of X11's libraries and include files are specified with
--x-includes=/usr/X11/include and --x-libraries=/usr/X11/libs, Wine finds X11
and builds properly.

Hello,
I am running Wine 1.1.5 on Mac OS X 10.5.5. Basic Applications are working
quite stable despite some minor notices, but I am not able to start any kind of
games requiring 3D-Acceleration. All of them excite with the following

err:wgl:has_opengl glx_version is 1.2 and GLX_SGIX_fbconfig extension is

I didn't find any further information about this problem and due to your latest

more problems I started to do so.
If necessary I can provide further information about my system.

I have an Ubuntu (7.04) server at home, that server hosts my mp3s, oggs, .FLAC
etc.
When I try to listen an MP3 located on that server using foobar2k, Wine
crashes, and of course foobar2k crashes too. If I try to read (play) a .FLAC or
.OGG from the ubuntu server, I don't experience this issue at all ( the files
play normally ).
The files (mp3, ogg, .flac, etc...) are added to foobar2k playlist, the issue
comes when I try to play the added .mp3 files.
This issue is not present when I try to play an Mp3 from localhost using wine
of course.
Here is a link to download foobar2k , but I am pretty sure this is a Wine
issue, not a foobar issue. I haven't been able to install WinAMP to check if it
fails too.

You must click Apply for the selection to take effect.
When I hit OK on that message, winecfg briefly stays up with no menu options in

I thought this might be a duplicate of bug 4051, but since wine no longer uses

Apple Problem Reporter crash log
After the initial few screens of the Lego Star Wars II installer are stepped
through, a further stage in the installation processes is started. In the Wine
Log window it appears that a large number of in game sound files are being
converted from the OGG format. Each file would count up the percentage complete
in the log window. This was taking a significant amount of time, so I left this
running whilst out. On return Wine had crashed and the log window was closed.
No one had interfered with the machine in the mean time.
I currently only have the OS X crash output as the WineLog window itself
closed. I will make a clean install of wine this evening and read up on how to
get full wine debug information output to a file and hopefully post this
information in the next day or two.
The machine is a 2.1GHz Intel Mac with 4GB RAM and ample hard disk space.
Further details on operating system version etc can be found in the log.

Logs of me trying to run two programs.
I have Wine 1.0 on Mac OS X Leopard, Intel chips. I was able to compile the
code successfully, and OpenGL was found. However, when I tried running two
programs, I was given the following message:
err:wgl:X11DRV_wglGetProcAddress No libGL on this box - disabling OpenGL
support !
My steps in more detail were as follows:
1) Download Wine 1.0, configure. I'm warned of missing features: I install at
least libxml and libxslt. I tried installing libjpeg, and while I got that
installed, Wine didn't recognize it. I probably found the wrong version.
2) Make depend, make, and make install all worked.
3) I tried XVI32 first (website here:
http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm ). It's a
simple Hex Editor. It ran, but not that great. See the attached file up to
when the program closes. That is the first instance of the error message given
above of disabling OpenGL support.
4) I then tried a beta version of Zelda Classic (think Zelda 1 simulator with
enhancements: main website here: http://www.zeldaclassic.com with beta
locations here: http://shardstorm.com/ ). After having to rename/copy a dll
file, I tried running the program, only to get...well, see the attached log
file. For those that don't: program doesn't even run (hence, critical
priority).
I am unsure as to why I wasn't warned of OpenGL problems on ./configure here.
On the older versions, I was told if OpenGL wasn't found. Here, ./configure
claimed it found it, and yet it gets disabled on runtime.
If there is anything else you guys want me to test with this, let me know.

Would you like to go to the MIDI options tab to investigate?
In the MIDI options tab, nothing is listed under the "Available play devices:"

click OK without changing anything, another dialog pops up:
The following play devices failed to open properly:

This problem must be corrected before proceeding.
If I move "Wine midi mapper" to the "Available play devices" list and hit OK,

I did a regression testing and found out that
58913b439b797462a70794774b87e63283109617 commit is what is causing this

Calling this one a 'blocker' because I can't test it if the installer stalls

The following bug was found in the current stable version of wine when executed
on Mac OS X with latest X11. The unstable testing versions also seem to contain
it.
Our old windowing framework (zApp) calles DrawMenubar() after you've done
modifications to the menu of an application.
DrawMenubar() itself calles
SetWindowPos( hWnd, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, SWP_NOSIZE | SWP_NOMOVE |
SWP_NOACTIVATE | SWP_NOZORDER | SWP_FRAMECHANGED );
This call moves the window approximately by the height of the title bar to the
bottom.
If you omit the SWP_NOSIZE flag, the window is moved to 0,0 - if you enable it,
the window is just moved down.
I gave this bug a major severtity as this effects nearly all of our
applications. You can test it by just calling the SetWindowPos line above.

winecfg crash log, from when winecfg crashes when trying to open the Audio tab
Tested with Noteworthy Composer 1.75 and Finale Notepad 2007. Both programs
complained of non-responsive MIDI devices. (Noteworthy: "One or more of your
selected MIDI devices are failing to open." Finale: "One or more MIDI devices
are not responding") In the MIDI options in Noteworthy, it lists "Wine midi
mapper" under the "Devices used by play back" menu, and nothing under the
"Available play devices" menu. In neither application does any sound play
during playback.
While investigating this, I discovered that opening the Audio tab in winecfg
crashes wine. When I click on the Audio tab, winecfg first displays this
message:
There is no audio driver currently specified in the registry.
A recommended driver has been selected for you. You can use this driver or
select another driver if available.
You must click Apply for the selection to take effect.
When I hit OK on that message, winecfg briefly stays up with no menu options in
the open tab, and then crashes. Crash log is attached.
I thought this might be a duplicate of bug 4051, but since wine no longer uses
aRts, it can't be. Still, it seems to be a similar problem.

Summary: Windows move downwards on many GUI events
Product: Wine

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Component: quartz
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: archaemic.spam(a)gmail.com
When using various programs in Wine on Mac OS X (only tested on 10.5.5 with
XQuartz 2.1.5), simple interactions with the GUI will cause the window which
you are interacting with to move down on the screen several pixels. One example
of a GUI interaction which always seems to trigger this is switching a tab on a
tabbed view. However, other actions seem to be triggering it, too.
A good way to demonstrate this bug is to download the latest version of
Apophysis, available over on SourceForge here:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=127736 and then to start
the program, open the editor window (the red and yellow triangle button on the
toolbar), and switch the active tab. To even further demonstrate the severity
of the bug, switch to the Variations tab, click on one of the fields, at which
point it should be triggered again, and drag on the x axis, at which point it
should be triggered repeatedly until you release the mouse. This effectively
makes Apophysis unusable on Mac OS X.
The bug has also been observed in other programs, such as Audacity. However, I
have a limited number of Windows programs installed at the moment, so I can't
make a very big list of what it affects. It does not appear to affect Windows'
Notepad, however.

The configure script fails to find /usr/X11/lib/libGL.dylib, which is available

OpenGL is unavailable to Wine.
More correctly Wine should link to

as the /usr/X11/lib library consists of links to the Framework. This can be
achieved by directly linking to the framework (-Framework OpenGL -framework

proper OCR is one of the missing things under Linux. OS X has options but they

I own a ScanSnap scanner which has software for Windows and OS X. Linux users
have made their own using the SANE backend. But the OS X and Linux solutions
lack the OCR scanning engine that the Windows version has.
The OCR engine runs under Wine but only ever scans the first page of every

load to 100%. If I press "Stop" in the recognition window, wait one minute

For me, this would mean I could FINALLY do ALL scanning and document managing

Could this function be implemented?

Crash log
Hello,
First thanks for this invaluable tool. I'm running Mac OS X 10.4 on x86
platform. I'm trying to run an Invoicing tool I use to use on my PC although
the application runs, when I open a database it will crash with the attached
error log.
I installed Wine via Mac ports.
Any assistance is appreciated.
Thank You,

Whenever I type something in the application the application (ePSXe) freezes.
It is sufficient to download the application and press a key while in the
initial configuration guide.
The application is by itself not functional. 1.70 requires zlib1.dll to run at
all, and both 1.60 and 1.70 require several plugins and a PSX bios. However,
none of these are required (with exception of zlib1.dll for 1.70) to reproduce
the problem.
I upgraded from 0.9.54 which would not run the application at all to 0.9.59
which also shows the issue and to 1.0-rc2.

Error in wines file open/save dialog - v0.9.42 and above
By using the file open/save dialog I start in 'My computer' navigating through
the 'fake' filesystem of wine. I choose the harddisk c: and the subfolder
'windows'. Normaly I see now the content of this folder but I see the content I
saw before. Choosing now 'windows' showes all the content of this folder.
Also in other folders which are 'under' the Harddrive.
This error apear only by using the 'my computer' first and directly under this
level. Deeper inside the filesystem this error doesn't occur.
There was no change in the configuration: I tried with the version before
(v0.9.41) and all is fine. Only v0.9.42 and now v0.9.43 generate this error.
I include a screenshot of this strange behavior.

I can see the Wine config options and notepad runs however notepad++ installed

d3d9 visual test output until hang
The d3d9 visual tests hang on my system running Windows XP SP2 with a Radeon
Mobility card. Worse, they also hang (not crash) Windows XP.
The test is stuck with a four-square tile in the center of the screen, with a
yellow background. After 15 minutes with no change in the display, I tested
the mouse as the cursor was still visible. The mouse moved the cursor. I also
checked the keyboard LEDs (e.g. caps lock), and they were still responsive. So
far so good.
Attempting to stop the test by pressing Alt-Tab, Ctrl-Alt-Del, or
Ctrl-Shift-Esc (I've tried all three variations now) makes the mouse cursor
disappear and makes the keyboard unresponsive. At this point I must power down
the machine.
The log of the visual test up until failure is attached. (Notice there are
also many test failures.)

On XP and up (W2K3 and Vista) the netapi/access tests leaves user directories
behind.
Every new winetest run (or manual netapi/access test run) will create a
testuser. The NetUserDel function is used to remove this testuser from the
system. As of XP, NetUserDel doesn't seem to delete the user's home directory.
The tests won't fail when a new test is run but you will end up with several
home directories. For example (on my XP box):
C:\Documents and Settings\testuser
C:\Documents and Settings\testuser.XP
I guess the delete_test_user function should be changed to:
- find out the created home directory
- delete the user account
- delete the home directory if it exists
The home directories can be deleted without a problem btw.
We also need to make sure that older testuser directories get deleted (will be
a one time thingy probably).

At first it felt like a normal evolution of the game's hardware requirements,
but due to a LOT of recent feedback from WoW players under wine, it seems like
something doesn't work on Wine's side.
Since the expansion patch Echoes of Doom, World of Warcraft lost at least 30
fps in crowded areas (shows a lot in battlegrounds and raids), and over 15 fps
in completely empty areas. The new shadow engine is disabled. Turning all
details and other effects off has very little effect on the game.
The new (bug 14975) screenfog effect (ffxSpecial) is disabled. Existing
configuration hasn't been changed.
Enabling or disabling GL_ARB_vertex_buffer_object shows no obvious difference
(feels slightly faster when disabling).
No relevant output is given in the terminal. Downgrading to wine 1.0, 1.1 or
1.1.3 (all three worked quite fine before) doesn't make any difference.

autocad setup log
Following a suggestion from Anastasius Focht, I'll report bug 14456 in a more
correct way and without making assumptions ow what's the cause of the problem.
Resuming it :
1) On wine 1.0 I could install AutoCAD 2005 on a patched wine, with following
patches :
a) Fixed opengl crash (see bug 13599, closed after 1.1), not necessary anymore
b) Fixed missing backslash returned on registry returned local path queries
(see bug 13838)
Other necessary stuffs were native DOTNET2.0 (broken 1.1 sp1, see bug 13995),
native MSXML3 (needed because of unimplemented stuffs leading to bad toolbars
contents) and native shlwapi (needed because of register today dialog,
displayed incorrectly).
With those prerequisites autocad could be installed and runs ok.
2) On latest git (after 1.1.1), the situation changed :
a) opengl bug is solved, no need to patch it anymore
b) missing backslash bug still present, needs a patch
c) theoretically no need for dotnet2.0 anymore, autocad installs its own
1.1sp1 which goes ok. Just to restrict possible areas of failures, I
did stil winetricks dotnet2.0 before setup.
d) steel needed MSXML3 and shlwapi as native, same reasons as above.
Autocad installs ok (well, it appears ok, see later); attached here is the
COMPLETE setup log, starting from fresh wine prefix, installation of corefonts,
dotnet2.0, msxml3 and autocad itself.
On first launch it crashes, see next report part.

Summary: Spore Creature Creator Trial
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2

Interface buttons are not being rendered. The main screen with the galaxy
simply shows the galaxy (which is very bright).
You can click around and actually click the buttons (new creature or load
creature) you just cannot see them.
In the editor, the same applies, the creature and background renders, but the
interface to the left does not. Moving the mouse over the buttons shows the
button, but they are invisible until you rollover them.
(This is my first bug report, I am new to this contributing thing, please be
kind and thanks!)

Summary: SecureCRT: Unhandled page fault when making SSH2
connection
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc2
Platform: PC
URL: https://secure.vandyke.com/cgi-
bin/download_form.cgi?PRODUCT=SecureCRT
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: perrym3(a)gmail.com
Using 1.0-rc3 on Ubuntu 8.04.
When making an SSH2 connection in SecureCRT 6.0.2, Wine give an unhandled page
fault error and backtrace right after supplying the login name. See attached
output from Wine. This happens at the point where SecureCRT would normally
prompt for a password.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new session with SSH2 to a server that accepts password logins
2. Accept the host key when prompted.
3. Enter login name when prompted.
SecureCRT should then prompt for a password and this is where the error occurs
in the Wine output.

Summary: Latest msvcrt's won't load
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0-rc2
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jon_p_griffiths(a)yahoo.com
The latest versions of msvcrt call the unimplemented
InitializeCriticalSectionEx on dll attach. See e.g.
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=37243 where a user attempted to use
it as their native msvcrt. Without this function its also impossible to test
the behaviour of the native dll without rebooting to windows.
A patch implementing this function (and its Rtl counterpart) is at
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2008-May/055192.html. Hopefully it
can be merged when the code freeze is over.

The help file font size is unbelievably small. I don't know when this started,
but is wasn't always that way as far as I remember.
I can change the font size to "Large" (which is not really large, just normal)
but the next time I open help it's back to small sizes.

as broken icons.
To work around bug 13013, do
sh winetricks vcrun6 cc580
before starting.
Then to reproduce the problem, press F1 and open the help
page "Help Pages". You will see some text and a row of broken icons.
