Hey Danila,
thanks for your quick reply. I knew I was forgetting something:
Using a (Hercules) Radeon 9700 Pro video card. Have the open-source drivers
(xorg-video-ati or something) installed, as the proprietary AMD-ATI fglrx
drivers (8.12) apparently refuse to be correctly installed right now. Not sure
if that affects this issue, I thought they are non-related issues.
Apart from that, I have an AMD Athlon 64 3000 with 1024 MB Ram. Was always able
to run DoW on my Windows configuration, so assumed it wouldn't be that much of
a problem for linux either (hardware-wise).

Hi, Paul.

Please provide some more info. Particulary, glxinfo output (by the way, what
video card do you use?).
Execute the following command in terminal window:
glxinfo > ~/info.txt
then post the resulting info.txt file from your home folder here (as
attachment).
> I am new to Wine but if you give me instructions on how to find/get/create log

You can see some instructions in the second comment above:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3276#c2
> Hope you can help me, it was the only reason I still had Windows;
> so I could run DoW...
Unfortunately, to emulate DirectX Wine uses much more complex instructions that
result in more strict requirements to video cards. It doesn't necessarily mean
that everything will be slower with Wine on the same video card, but it often
means that on older card nothing will work at all. If the problem is here, the
only answer will probably be "get-a-newer-video-card" one.

Hey everyone,
sorry to spoil the party, but I am now getting the "Spooge driver not found.
Verify that DirectX is properly installed."
I have just migrated completely to Linux (Xubuntu 8.10), installed Wine 1.1.11
so I can play Dawn of War and installed DoW successfully. But upon opening the
Graphics Config utility I get that error message and afterwards a Graphics
control window where I can only press "cancel" (the window is just a grey box).
I am new to Wine but if you give me instructions on how to find/get/create log
files I should be able to copy/paste them here. Otherwise I am not sure on how
to give more info.
Hope you can help me, it was the only reason I still had Windows; so I could
run DoW...

The direct cause of this error is not having enough paged pool memory free for

If you go by the dictionary definition, sure, it's a forum. But bugzilla
discussions are for discussing bugs. Reporting them, how to fix them, etc. Wine
is a mostly volunteer project. If no one has fixed the bug, it's because
neither no one is interested in it, or it doesn't affect anyone capable of
fixing it. The source is there for you to fix it yourself, or to get someone to
fix for you. Otherwise, sit back and wait.
I don't mean for that to sound rude, but it's simply the truth of the matter.
Any non-bug related chatter on bugzilla simply distracts developers from
coding, so please refrain from doing so.

Forum: an "assembly for open discussion"
How is this not an assembly or an open discussion?

I'll add that at least a portion of the Safedisc 4.85 implementations appear to
have been properly supported with the new 1.1.11 packages.
Previously under 1.1.10, Warhammer: Battle March (
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/f18/mark-chaos-battle-march-safedisc-4-85-a…
) was failing to detect the original game DVD in the drive. With 1.1.11, the
game properly detects the Safedisc DRMd product.
Another win for the Wine devs.

Yes, it is still in issue with 1.1.11. But I can't provide a download showing
the problem; it's too subtle for that.
Also, for me, the issue is in Call of Duty, not Halo. The problem is that the
mouse doesn't have a constant speed. Sometimes it moves faster.

Summary: Cs 1.6 FPS drop bug

I've found an odd frequent performance bug with CS 1.6 and other HL based
games. The FPS drops from 80+ to 15-20 every other second so one second I got
good fps the other it drops down to 15-20 and back again. I recently discovered
that it is related to the Steam menu somehow, cause if it's minimized there are
no problems but when the menu is running in the background I get this odd fps
drop every second ummm second....
Running it on:
Kubuntu 8.04 + wine 1.0.0
athlon 2400+

Installed the 1.31 client from the official website, installed and ran with

It appeared that FASMW (flat assembler's Win32 IDE) won't run with WINE
(launching from Konqueror), simply nothing happens.
But out of curiousity I tried launching it from the already running WinRAR.
And it did ran! Normally.
Something to consider about.
And other thing which maybe connected.
µTorrent runs normally (again, launching from Konqueror), but when I launched
from WinRAR some weird thing occured: the gridlist window where torrents are
listed was in black colour (normally it's standart white).
That's all I guess.
In hope that you will solve the FASMW issue,
Regards.

Update:
The game Pariah IS grabbing the mouse. Just try the demo:
http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/7324/Pariah+Singleplayer+Demo
I've tested it and confirmed on Windows XP Professional. Just go to Video
Options->Advanced->Windowed mode. When in menu, the mouse is not grabbed. When
the game loads, the mouse IS grabbed and user cannot move it outside of the
game's screen (needs to alt-tab). On WINE, mouse just goes out of the game's
window (as on windows, but in the game's menu). Pariah is touching the mouse
pointer and it is grabbing it. At some point, WINE should grab the mouse.
So, the approach WINE developers took is ok, but avoiding mouse grabbing is too
restrictive. I'll try to discover what function is making the grab.

WINEDEBUG=warn+opengl,+wgl,+x11drv fails with a GLX error
I've noticed this bug for several months now, and can't remember exactly when
it started. Basically, I am running World of Warcraft using both Wine and Mesa
from their respective git repositories. My PC is a dual P4 Xeon machine, with
hyperthreading enabled, so that I have four virtual CPUs. I am using a Radeon
9550 graphics card.
When I run WoW in OpenGL mode, then one of three things happens:
a) WoW completely fails to start, and reports this error:
X Error of failed request: GLXBadDrawable
Major opcode of failed request: 156 (GLX)
Minor opcode of failed request: 5 (X_GLXMakeCurrent)
Serial number of failed request: 586
Current serial number in output stream: 586
b) WoW runs fine(-ish), albeit slowly. (But maybe that's just Mesa's R300
support)
c) The entire X server crashes, and the Xorg.0.log file reports a SIGSEGV while
calling __glxDeassociateContext.
So assuming that I don't crash the X server first, I can eventually get WoW to
start just by trying to run it again and again. It sounds like there might be
some hideous sort of race condition in the context-handling code.

Configure script output
I fetched WINE from GIT and runned configure script. It detected all HAL
headers, but at the end of output it returned that libhal devel files were not
found. I have installed hal-devel package (there's no package like
libhal-devel), but it didn't help.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.0 crashes when using DictationBox. I believe that
dictating rapidly may trigger it, but I can't be sure.
I am running Ubuntu-Studio Intrepid Ibex. That distro comes with pulseaudio
enabled, and there are ubuntu bugs for instances where applications crash
randomly with all non-gnome application. The issue is being worked on.
(A couple of weeks ago I reported a similar or identical bug. But disabling
pulseaudio and removing studio-desktop seemed to cure it, so I closed the bug.)

Summary: glViewport has no effect.

log
To approach bug #10490 I built Wine from a current git and added a few trace
statements to ./dlls/opengl32/opengl_norm.c:
void WINAPI wine_glViewport( GLint x, GLint y, GLsizei width, GLsizei height )
{
GLint params[2];
TRACE("(%d, %d, %d, %d)\n", x, y, width, height );
ENTER_GL();
glGetIntegerv(GL_MAX_VIEWPORT_DIMS, params);
TRACE("Viewport is: %d %d\n", params[0], params[1]);
glViewport( x, y, width, height );
glGetIntegerv(GL_MAX_VIEWPORT_DIMS, params);
TRACE("Viewport is: %d %d\n", params[0], params[1]);
LEAVE_GL();
}
Obviously, glViewport, as used by Catia, is a no-op. See the last few lines in
the attached log:
trace:opengl:wine_glViewport (0, 0, 852, 862)
trace:opengl:wine_glViewport Viewport is: 4096 4096
trace:opengl:wine_glViewport Viewport is: 4096 4096
No matter what's given to glViewport, ths port's size remains a lot bigger than
the screen is (1280x1024 pixels). Catia is running inside a window and 852x862
should be the size of the OpenGL view inside this.
I filed this bug in the hope it rings a bell somewhere and/or somebody has an
idea how to find out what's missing here. This is an Intel G31 graphics running
Ubuntu 8.04. Other (native) OpenGL apps run fine.

FL Studio has within it a plugin called Synthmaker (sometimes referred to as
FLSynthmaker to distinguish it from the standalone product of the same name).
Get the FL Studio demo here: http://www.flstudio.com/documents/download.html
Once inside the demo of FL Studio go to menu Channels-->Add One-->Synthmaker.
The Synthmaker plugin opens a window that has it's own set of menus and a
graphical editor in which components are drag/dropped, wires connected, etc.
The bug is that clicking the left mouse button on those menus and graphical
objects produces no effect/response. Note also that the menu bar buttons
themselves are supposed to exhibit roll-over behaviour but do not (possibly a
different bug).

The 'View Readme' menu of Heroes of Might and Magic III references an icon in
notepad.exe. But Wine's notepad.exe has no icon resource so this fails and thus
the menu is created without an icon.
The missing icon is the icon at index 0 of "C:\\\\Windows\\\\notepad.exe".
