Tested OOo 3.0 native and in wine 1.1.10:
text can not be copied from native to wine - error message from OOo comes up...
then i wrote the word "wine" under OOo in wine and copied it, trying to paste
it in native OOo leads to this:

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: seppo.yli-olli(a)iki.fi
This is repeatable. It looks as if some logic is trying to be used so that the
window would move into the adjacent workspace since this only happens if you
try to push the window close to the border. End result is that the window
disappears from current workspace but doesn't appear in any other workspace.
Expected result would probably either be that the window would be bound inside
the workspace or then it could be freely moved between workspaces. (The
particular window environment was Gnome)

I don't know if the 'component' is set properly, but it looks the closest.
This is a regression from 1.1.9; it worked fine there
Is this a GIT-specific bug? I'll try the release development version tonight
and see if it shows up there.
Apologies if I did something wrong, and I can provide more information as
necessary.

I attached a log to Bug 12653 that is likely SafeDisc related.
Note stubs on Services and AdvAPI, since those seem to be the first issues, and
seem to be consistent with the same generation copy protection across the
board.
Bug 12653 while currently held up by this, is probably much broader. It can't
be determined for sure until SafeDisc copy protection is working completely.

After the login window login, the client starts and pops up two Exception

The client is missing most features, attempts to access them though it's menus

HyperChem 8 (Student Edition) cannot generate a hardware-specific "locking
code" which would normally be sent to the vendor for generation of an
activation code. The program does not crash, but it simply returns "0-0" as the
locking code which indicates that wine cannot accesss the areas of the system
that would normally return unique serial numbers from which the locking code
would be generated. The program uses SentinelLM code for it's licensing
platform.
How do I narrow down which devices/files the program is trying to obtain data
from?

Summary: App creates popups but fails to write expected text
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.55.
Platform: PC
URL: http://wxtide32.com/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: n5470(a)pinefields.com
Under Windows, WXTide32 creates at least three popup windows with text in them.
Under Wine, the popups are created in the appropriate places on the screen,
but the contents of the popups is always blank. The sizes are consistent with
their Windows equivalents and both have pale, white, or gray backgrounds. It
is the contents of the popups that is the problem.
Tide station map popup: this popup should contain the name of the tide (or
current ) station closest to the cursor, when it passes over indicated tidal
stations on a world map. The names are extracted from a database of tide
stations and are shown in a scrolling window created as part of the tidal
station selecton process. That is, the names are known to the app. They are
not shown in the popup.
Tide status popup: left-clicking on the main window's tide graph in graph, or
realtime format, in any one spot, should produce a statement of date, time, and
tide level information in a popup. It does not.
Tide prediction time popup: under the realtime format, it's possible to create
two intersecting lines (a horizontal line at some tide level and a vertical
line at some time of day, respectively, intersecting at the tide level point
for a given date and time, and bounded by the inside of the window frame). A
popup with the time of day is attached at the top of the vertical line, with
the popup's left vertical side directly adjacent to the vertical line and the
top, horizontal side flush with the inside of the window frame. The popup is
drawn, its contents are not.
Bug 11562 and Bug 11714 report, respectively, the Tide status popup and Tide
station map popup bugs separately. However, it's highly likely that all three
popup failures point to a common bug or shortcoming in Wine and, therefore, it
may be more productive to treat the three popups as instances of a class of
problems instead of distinct, separate problems.

Hi,
I installed succesfully WSOP2008 with wine. When trying to run it I had to
copy manually d3dx9_35.dll to the program directory, for it not to complain
about missing library.
After that the program as soon as I run it with an error calling
WineDirect3DCreate. I attach a backtrace the output (a backtrace + list of
loaded modules, etc..)
Thank you in advance for any help with this.
Cheers,
Simone

The app uses two windows. In the first window you can search for addresses and
choose them from a list. After double-clicking an address a new window opens
and shows the map for the selected address.
If you switch back to the start window and select another address it loads
correctly but the "map-window" don't move to the foreground.

With 0.9.46 and 47 clicking on links no longer works inside Bridge Base.
Versions 0.9.44 and 0.9.45 work. Many features in Bridge Base have a link that
opens a browser.
The easiest featrue to test is the 'HELP' button on the lower right, clicking
should open an external browser. More relevantly, to use the pay features of
the site conveniently also requires an external browser. The pay features can
be used without a browser but require many more steps and some knowledge of the
layout.

The game is loading, but suddenly the music stops, the loading screen is
frozen, no cpu usage.
The game itself says: Spawning entities: 100%
(Log attached)
I can load other maps successfully, but then they freeze short after I join the
game:
I had that problem on the ET:QW Open beta client too (freeze at loading) - the
line I remember is:
*** glibc detected *** double free or corruption (fasttop): 0x601d9eb0 ***
Could that be an error in ET:QW that doesn't appear on every system(, but more
likely on wine/linux-systems (because it isn't tested on such systems),)? I
don't know anyone else who encounters this problem. (See appdb)
My operating system is Debian Etch x86
I choose component wine-files (guess), because the crash seems to appear "near"
some file operations.

seems not to install the Access driver. I don't know if it would help - I'm not
sure if we are supporting non-unixODBC drivers.
There is a project that delivers Access unixODBC drivers -

They write they give only read access so that may be not enough.

Wine log after running XVEditor.exe
Exact command (without the quotes): "WINEDEBUG=+midi,+tid wine

The program started successfully, without any warnings/errors on the GUI.
Then started to acquire MIDI data, stopped roughly at 30%, and the progress
dialog died silently.
The data was not there. It should show the current "patch" or "performance"
with all its properties, but the default patch showed up, indicating that the
full data was not there.
Then I closed the app.

With wine-1.1.10, the latest Web.de-Messenger still does not work. The error is
a different one though, probably due to a different version of the program. An
error is displayed, but the error window is not even completely drawn before it
crashes
The console error log is not long:

For what it's worth, "sudo aptitude remove wine" got me further, but then it
died during setup with an "Error while parsing command line arguments or
reading setup.ini (0x80004002) [OK]" error dialog box. If anyone wants to take
over with this regression test then please go for it, because this is way too
painful and time-consuming for me to want to proceed with further, so I'll STFU
now.

Almost! Here's the current recipe:
rm -rf .wine
winecfg (and select win2000 mode)
sudo cp -a /mnt/cdrom/ gp
sudo chmod 755 -R gp
cd gp
wine setup
This gets a lot further, but crashes with a dialog box
"Fatal engine execution error"; wine says
wine: Call from 0x7edf96b0 to unimplemented function

wine: Call from 0x7edf96b0 to unimplemented function

'winetricks gdiplus' gets it a bit further, so
that makes this a gdiplus bug for the moment.

Bugzilla is not a discussion forum, please keep the comments strictly related
to the bug report.
Nick: if you need help with the regression testing process, you should bring it
up on the forum http://forum.winehq.org or irc, the bug report is not a good
place for support.
The preloader message is answered in the FAQ:
http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-f008d57967dd5f8aa3f374c27540c1b5f4815947 and
the other error message you're getting is because a different version of Wine
is already running, you need to make sure that Wine exits between the tests.

I have attempted to do the regression test today, and can only report that the
regression test itself appears to be broken.
Here's what I did (on an Ubuntu 8.04 AMD64 system), following the instructions
from http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting :
--------------------------------------------
sudo apt-get install git-core
sudo apt-get install ccache
sudo apt-get build-dep wine wine-dev
cd ~/tmp
mkdir wine
cd wine
git clone git://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git wine-git

-Wl,-rpath,/lib32 -Wl,-rpath,/usr/lib32" ./configure -v
make depend
make
mv ~/.wine ~/.wine-backup
------------------------------------------------------------
Everything went fine up to this point.
Then attempt to install it:
./wine /cdrom/myobapp/mplus10/Setup.exe
... And after a minute or so get this error dialog box:
"MYOB Accounting Plus v10.0.2

I installed cdarchitect52c_enu.exe, which is the non-trial version (I own the
windows versions of SoundForge 9 / CD Architect)
Install runs ok, but when running the app I cant register, the console says :
fixme:wininet:InternetAttemptConnect Stub
fixme:wininet:InternetSetOptionW Option INTERNET_OPTION_CONNECT_TIMEOUT
(20000): STUB
And the app immediately says that the internet connection timed out.
So I cancelled the automatic registration and selected 'Register from another
computer'.
After entering that Activation Code the app continues start up but crashes part
way through :
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0xff01000f at address 0x1002ac0
(thread 0009), starting debugger...
I'll try and gather more information and add it to this bug.

Refresher: Myob11 wouldn't work using Fedora 6, just real buggy, tended to
crash, anything deeper than top-level window stuff wouldn't print. Windows
with tabs would not usually allow selecting the tabs, etc... Fedora 8 came
along, I upgraded as the F8 fanclub was making out F8 being the next best thing
to invention of the wheel. I tried Myob11 on it and it worked! I was able to
install all the old data from the windows system. We were able to input
receivables, create invoices, print stuff, do the bank stuff, tax stuff, etc...
The accountant was using it and happy. This honeymoon lasted about 1 month.
Then... First-off it wouldn't print Invoices, just a blank page, I thought I
had a bad printer. Then I realized there were other issues with the tabs on
some windows didn't work. Some of the bank info wasn't accessible. The
accountant now refuses to use Linux for anything but letters, email and
solitaire. I told her tough, get used to Linux because this place isn't going
back to M$, period. I've installed several other accounting programs made for
Linux, but she still hasn't decided to take the effort to learn them, she's
holding out for MYOB. I'm not set up for, nor do I understand how to do
regression testing. Wouldn't know what to do if I found something, either. I
really don't care how much trouble Linux is or how little how understand
it...there is no way in hell we are going back to M$, even if we have to send
all our accounting out to a service.
So, yeah, it sure would be nice if you geniuses could figure out why it
wouldn't then why it did and then why it won't work anymore!!
If it makes a difference, we use a network printer, hp L7780. System that
needs to use MYOB is running Mepis 7 and system used for testing various new
software from repos is running Lenny.

Hello,
thanks, but there is no point in providing logs.
Show stoppers are known, partly covered by .NET 3.5 bug 10547.
Missing "BITS" bits (comment #8) and pidgen stub dll
(http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=16508).
Follow up is wintrust (.inf file signature validation).
The _SFX_CAB_SHUTDOWN_REQUEST workaround will be most likely part of later
winetricks recipe until wine properly supports FILE_ATTRIBUTE_HIDDEN.

I think the bugs aren't related to vertex shaders, more to post processing
effects. By default WineD3D uses the back buffer for offscreen rendering
because FBO support is still buggy in Wine and the drivers. However, this can
lead to corruptions like these. If AUX buffers are available they are used,
fixing most of the problems. However, fglrx doesn't support aux buffers.
The best fix for this is to use FBOs
instead(HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Direct3D/offscreenRenderingMode = "fbo") and
fix all fbo related bugs.

On MYOB v16, printing of reports and lists DOES work. (You need to have your
cups / wine sorted out as for any other windows app to print)
Printing of forms uses a different engine inside MYOB, and does NOT work. You
can't print invoices, POs, statements, or any other form, either standard or
customised.
Based on yonnie's post it appears it used to work, someone needs to do the
testing of prior versions (regression testing) and find out when it broke, or
if it ever really did work.
This bug needs to focus on fixing the forms printing problem...
> Louis Lenders
> I can see the problem, yeah. Looks like a bug in wine's printing code.
> Maybe one of the printerguys (Detkef ?) could have a look
For other MYOB issues, please search for other bugs.
Given that the primary purpose of MYOB is recording sales and printing invoices
to get money, it's pretty much unuseable if forms printing doesn't work, making
this a show stopper bug for MYOB use. That in turn stops a lot of small
businesses from switching to Linux. Their other needs are well met by
openoffice, firefox and thunderbird. MYOB is the only other thing they run.

I do not know if this helps you in any way. If you want to I can test it again
with debugging flags (please tell me which of them) or can tell you more about
my system configuration.
Kind regards,
Benjamin

Summary: Wine should use Mono and Gecko already installed in the
system
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.10
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: neptunia(a)mail.ru
Wine FAQ says Wine is not an emulator, but in fact, it works as emulator - it
does not enhance Linux API, but simply creates virtual Windows system
completely isolated from other parts of the system.
* If one runs a .NET based program, Wine requires Win32 Mono to be installed
under Wine, instead of Mono already installed in system.
* If a program tries to do html rendering, Wine requires a web engine to be
installed under Wine, not using already installed in the system.
* If a program needs Flash, Wine requires an instance installed under Wine.
* If a program uses some fonts, Wine requires the fonts to be in Wine's fonts
directory and does not use already installed in the system (and Wine's fonts
cannot be used by a Linux application)
* Windows drivers loaded under NDIS wrapper cannot use Wine's APIs, that's why
the functionality of NDIS wrapper is so limited (and Wine cannot load Windows
drivers even NDIS-compatible).
This leads to douling in functionality, incompatibilities and limitations.
I think Wine should fully utilize the systems already provided with system and
allow other programs (that may benifit from it, such as Mono and NDIS wrapper)
to use Wine's APIs.

Using winetricks doesn't count, it works around this problem.
