This is exactly the bug. Wine can't guesstimate what is VendorID and what is
ProductID. Kernel should return them separately. Or provide means to query that
information. Which it doesn't.

I have tested now with both 1.0.1 and 1.1.10.
The bug is still present in both versions, but there is a noticeable
improvement in 1.1.10.
Version 1.0.1 on occasion becomes unusable where it is continually popping up a
dialog specifying that a new joystick has been found. Pressing the button,
closes that dialog but then another immediately pops up.
Version 1.1.10 still sometimes pops up a single dialog, but only after a
minimum of 5 or so minutes.
Unfortunately other performance problems are making the game unplayable, so I
will need to play with the settings a bit before I can do more testing.

Hi - apologies for opening the bug to add feedback, I didn't know the protocol.
This is the first time that I "pointed to the kernel". It was "Salius K." who
made the original reference.
> "Wine returns exactly what is returned by the kernel".
What is returned by the kernel is the concatentation of the "VendorID" and
"ProductID" for the USB device. I find it difficult to see how this choice
could be described as a bug in the kernel, however, in the context of Wine and
RWG this is a bug.
I will continue to hack the wine source... :(
Again, apologies for reopening the bug.

Hi,
I've just tested this app in 1.1.10 and the error produced is:
wine: Cannot start DOS application "Z:\\home\\matthew\\Wine Sandbox\\Dos
Navigator\\dn151\\DN.PRG"
because vm86 mode is not supported on this platform.
Which i'm guessing is because i'm running Ubuntu x86_64, can someone running a
32bit OS test it please.
Also, i've checked and i have libx86 installed, which claims to provide vm86.
Any ideas why its not integrating itself into wine?

This problem have been seen on the whole wine 1.1.x series using Ubuntu 8.04
and 8.10
When playing any multi-player game of Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne (BNET or Local
Area Network) Players using wine can't see chat from other players using wine
and in a random way can't see chat coming from normal windows client.
To reproduce the problem, start a multi-player game with to clients using wine.
For invisible chat from real windows, start a 5v5 game and you won't be able to
see chat from a random number players for the whole game (when you don't see
the chat for one player, it's always the same player you'll have problem with
for the whole game). But starting a new game it may be from different users.

(valid for Catalyst/fglrx 8.11 and Wine 1.1.10)
"Extension 'GL_ARB_draw_buffers' is not supported" is bogus:
GL_ARB_draw_buffers IS supported and works.
"The GLSL vertex shader will run in hardware"/"Fragment shader was successfully
compiled to run on hardware" seem to be debug messages from the driver and can
be ignored. For details see
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.wine.user/36670 .
Vertex shaders seem not to work properly leading to major screen corruption in
Fallout 3 and Prince of Persia and probably many other games.

You again keep pointing to kernel. Wine returns exactly what was returned from
kernel. If that's not what windows does - or what the device called - then it's
the kernel bug.

I have been trying to give feed back on a different bug relating to a dual CPU
machine and polling for joystick devices (bug 8765).
Due to this problem, I am still having to patch the wine sources. I spent some
more time looking at exactly what was taking place in the kernel, and I believe
that the problem is not with the joydev.c, but rather it is with the hid
devices:
http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/aegl/linux-2.6.git;a=blob;f=drive…
I don't think this is a bug with either wine or with the kernel, however, the
short answer is that I need to "hack" wine before I can get this game to run.
It would not surprise me if other people had similar experiences.
At this point, a possible solution would be to add mapping functionality, so
that the device name returned by the kernel can be mapped to a different
identifier without requiring source code change.
Is something like this feasible?

Hello,
random pick, fortunately I got hold of some Office 97 copy ... ;-)
The main problem is Office 97 installer shipping its own version of ole
automation library "oleaut32.dll" which is dynamically loaded at install time
using a different library alias -> "32autole.dll".
This only happens for installation/registration purpose of "Microsoft Access
Wizard Control Library" -> "ACCWIZ.DLL".
--- snip Setup\ACME.LST ---
[Windows 95 Files]
...
os\system\oleaut32.dll = 32autole.dll
[NT3.51 Intel Files]
...
os\system\oleaut32.dll = 32autole.dll
--- snip Setup\ACME.LST ---
In installer OS\system dir:

-rw-rw-r-- 1 focht focht 491792 1996-11-21 11:37 OS/SYSTEM/OLEAUT32.DLL
--- snip ---
When "accwiz.dll" is loaded, DllRegisterServerEx("32autole.dll") is called.
--- snip ---

--- snip ---
All typelib registration stuff goes through "32autole.dll" a.k.a. OLEAUT32.DLL
Wine's builtin one is not used at that time (see previous proc addr
resolutions).
Basically it boils down to LoadTypeLib() and RegisterTypeLib() problems of
"stdole32.tlb".
It first tries to locate the typelib path using registry:
--- snip ---
...
0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyA(80000000,653b28ac "TypeLib",0033ebc8)
ret=65351c33
0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyA() retval=00000000 ret=65351c33
0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyW(000000f0,653b25dc
L"{00020430-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}",0033ebcc) ret=65353360
0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyW() retval=00000000 ret=65353360
0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyA(000000f4,0033ebb4 "1.0",0033ee18) ret=65351ca2
0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyA() retval=00000000 ret=65351ca2
0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyA(000000f8,0033ebcc "0",0033eba8) ret=65351bb6
0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyA() retval=00000000 ret=65351bb6
0024:Call advapi32.RegOpenKeyW(000000fc,653b2880 L"win32",0033eba4)
ret=65353360
0024:Ret advapi32.RegOpenKeyW() retval=00000000 ret=65353360
...
--- snip ---
It obviously fails to locate it because wine neither installs "stdole32.tlb" as
placeholder dll (with embedded typelib resource) nor establishes a proper
typelib path in registry.
--- snip ---
...
0024:Call KERNEL32.WideCharToMultiByte(00000000,00000000,0033ee5c

--- snip ---
(80029c4a -> HRESULT: TYPE_E_CANTLOADLIBRARY)
After adjusting wine install script for stdole32.tlb placeholder and fixing up
the typelib path in registry
--- snip ---
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Typelib\{00020430-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\1.0\0\win32]
@="c:\\windows\\system32\\stdole32.tlb"
--- snip ---
it still fails, now with: 0x800288BD -> TYPE_E_BADMODULEKIND
After various testing with hand crafted typelibs, switching between Platform
SDK MIDL and WIDL (just to cancel out WIDL as error path) it still wouldn't
load.
It turned out that the shipped ole automation bootstrapper expects
"stdole32.tlb" in v1 format (ICreateTypeLib/SGLT), not the v2 format wine
currently provides (ICreateTypeLib2/MSFT).
When manually generating a v1 typelib using ICreateTypeLib and embedding into
PE it successfully loads and registers.
To resolve this bug, wine needs to generate/provide a v1 style placeholder
"stdole32.tlb" in "c:\\windows\\system32\\stdole32.tlb".
It seems even Platform SDK ships "stdole32.tlb" as v1 typelib.
Note: the installer/office runtime still suffer from other bugs, ex:
"Setup was unable to start DDE communication with the Desktop" -> DDE with
Windows program manager
"An error has occurred at changing workgroup database" -> MS JET database
engine provider/ole insufficiency
leading to later failure of access at run time.
This bug is about "accwiz.dll failed to register itself"
Regards

After installing wine 1.1.10, Uru - The Path of the Shell (or Uru - Complete
Chronicles, that's basically the same) crashes with a stackdump when I turn a
page in one of the books which can be used in the game. I did a git bisect with
the following result:
a2febdd200f7149cff7fe923b7316dcdafca693a is first bad commit
commit a2febdd200f7149cff7fe923b7316dcdafca693a
Author: Henri Verbeet <hverbeet(a)codeweavers.com>
Date: Thu Dec 4 17:41:30 2008 +0100
wined3d: Slightly improve drawStridedSlow() performance.
This moves a couple of checks outside of the main drawing loop, since
they're not going to change anyway.

After reverting that commit locally, the problem is fixed.
I did not add the author of the patch as CC with the bug commit form as
Bugzilla tells be it is unable to match that email adress. I'll try again after
committing the bug.

If i wait the minute and the first portal is open, it's looking weird and
entering will freeze the game and cause some page fault in kernel32.
Looking into portals is no problem. I can transfer things trough them, but not
enter them. Freeze upon my view field should change.
I have no idea why this happens.

The DIB engine is NOT on wine tree, by now.... so it's quite unlikely that it
can break anything :-)

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major

Component: -unknown

ReportedBy: laurent(a)gecka.com
Only one big bug. To reproduce:
- create anew image
- draw some shapes
- in optimize panel choose for example Jpeg and then using the panel menu
choose progressive
Ooops a "Memoire insufisante" (not enough memory) occurs.
Then fireworks just does not work anymore: close it and open it, create or open
any image and the error appears.
Deleting windows/profiles/crossover/Application Data/Macromedia/Fireworks
8/French/Fireworks 8 Panel Prefs.xml makes it work again but loosing all
personal settings.
I extensively use Fireworks so this bug is really annoying and slows me down in
my work.

When running all games I tried with wine (Need For Speed 3, GTA, GTA 2 ...) on

screen (the bottom is missing). I don't have the same problem with native linux

The problem also occured with wine O.9.53, before I updated to 0.9.56 to try to
solve the problem.
