This behavior was not present under Wine 1.0.1 or 1.1.8, however since updating to 1.1.9 this behavior has begun to exhibit itself randomly. Linux kernel dmsg reports 4 Microsoft SideWinder GamePad detected. dinput_test.exe also reports 4 Microsoft SideWinder GamePad detected.
