The Adobe Media Player doesn't seem to do anything;
watching +crypt,+wininet,+winsock shows that
it does crypto stuff for about 15 seconds,
then goes into a loop talking to a bunch of
web servers forever.
Perhaps it's looking for updates in the background,
as it fiddles with files in
.wine/drive_c/windows/profiles/dkegel/Application
Data/Adobe/AIR/update/background
and is doing requests like this:

But I would expect it to put up a GUI or something.

describes monitor profiles, and says they're enabled by
calling a gdi32 function like SetICMMode(). Wine's
implementation of that function is currently a no-op.
Also, it looks like Photoshop installs a control panel, Adobe Gamma.cpl,

It's possible he's looking for that, and not finding it because
we don't have any sort of a GUI to locate control panel applets yet.

SafeDisc 1.x fails to work on Wine because of this bug.
Here is what happens:
1. SD creates a new process for the game with CREATE_SUSPENDED flag.
2. Injects some code into new process to be executed first
3. Resumes the new process.
4. Injected code is being executed
5. Wine does import fixups and fails because they are already fixedup (by an
injected code).
What should happen is Wine should not let injected code to run until final
stages of the process setup are finished. In this case it is import fixups.

Installation console log
When installing Corel Draw X3, the original installer calles an other msi
installer to install the language files. The msiexec brings just a error
message out of this call. Maybe some parameters missing or wrong. Can it be
that the msiexec doesn't support all original options?

When playing Neverwinter Nights 2, version 1.11.1153 (no expansion pack),
sometimes in outdoors environments all textures are white or gray, making
navigation fairly hard. Apparently this occurs only during the daytime. I've
attached a debug log from me starting the game, loading a saved game exhibiting
the problem, wandering around for a minute, and then exiting, with debug
options: warn+all,debug+all,err+all,+trace.
Some relevant-looking lines that are repeated very frequently are:
warn:d3d_shader:IWineD3DVertexShaderImpl_CompileShader Swizzled attribute

I searched for another bug report on this but did not find anything. I've
tested the same application on two similar systems with similar software loads.
Essentially, the application (Majesty) preforms considerably better on a
single core system than it does on a more powerful dual core system.
Single Core System:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3300+
1.5 Gig RAM
GeForce 6200 256M
Dual Core System:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
2 Gig RAM
GeForce 7800 256M
Both systems are running Debian Etch, with kernel version 2.6.18-5-k7, NVIDIA
GLX Module 100.14.19, and Wine 0.9.53 (using Scott's packages).
I would expect the dual core system to run as well, if not better, than the
single core system. However, it is extremely sluggish on the dual core system
and blazingly fast (in some cases needing to be slowed down) on the single
core.
I have also tested the dual core system with 0.9.54 (built using Scott's 0.9.53
package as a basis), with no improvement. I'll happily provide any additional
information that would be helpful.

When playing Battlefield 1942 with audio set to either oss or alsa, sound
effects are not played correctly, some are not audible, some sound muffled or
cut short at the start and end.
I've searched through bugzilla for "dsound" "directsound" and "sound effects"
but I haven't been able to spot anything similar to this. I did try the patch
on bug 9358 but if anything, subjectively it seemed worse.
I also tested the demo for bug 7755 but didn't find any problems with sound
effects.
I've created a log of WINEDEBUG=+dsound, it's 80+ MB uncompressed for loading
the game, loading a level and firing a weapon and then exiting immediately.
The log does mention "Buffer starting or buffer underrun" - I don't know if
this message is normal though.

WXTide32 uses a vector artwork map, showing land mass outlines that can be
scaled up and down, and red (tide station) and blue (current station) squares
to mark the specific geographic location of reporting/predicting stations. As
the cursor moves over a square, the station's name is displayed in a popup
placed near the square. Under wine, the popup is drawn in the appropriate
place but no text is displayed in the popup. This problem is consistently
present and repeatable on demand. This problem was first observed under Wine
0.9.55 and is unchanged under 0.9.56. It has the feel of a problem seen in the
main application - see Bug 11562.

Hi there,
I'm filing another Blood 2 bug. This one is input related, more precisely about
keyboard input. I know that the Blood 2 informations on the net mentioned the
support for DirectInput devices, but I'm not sure this is a dinput bug. So I'm
leaving this to unknown for now.
To the problem:
I installed Blood 2 through wine and did no patching (version is still 1.0).
Also the copy protection was not removed, the executable should be clean.
Starting the game and entering the configuration menu I noticed it was very
hard to setup the keys I wanted to use in the game (like moving forward,
backward, etc.)
When running Blood 2 natively you select a action in the menu you want to map.
You press ENTER and the game engine waits for you to press another key, which
it uses for mapping.
Now when running wine I had to be REALLY quick when pressing the mapkey. Like
some milliseconds later, it was really no fun to config the game. When I wasn't
quick enough for an action the ENTER key itself is mapped.
Now the interesting part. When not releasing the ENTER key after pressing it,
and then pressing the mapkey, the process works.
I suspect that the ENTER key generates two events for the game. Pressing and
releasing, and the game interprets both events as seperate key presses, so
ENTER gots mapped to everything (because the engine thinks it's pressed twice).
So either this is X related or a bug in the wine's keyb implementation.

I would suggest adding a method for maintainers to edit any preexisting image
(to focus on only application window, hide personal information in games, etc),

revisions, and add the ability to include an image description.

WinRar doesn't fully utilize two cores of an SMP system if it has detected
them. On average WinRar's CPU usage is around 140-160% on a dual core SMP
system, while the best usage will be 200%.

mostly fine using Wine, but what's noticeable is that the graphics is much
slower that on Windows. There I can use the best graphics settings and as long
as I'm alone in my age, the graphics is fluent (with my GeForce 8500 GT). On
Linux, I've got the lowest settings and it stutters all the time.
The reason seems to be that wine uses software emulation - I get the following
error many many times:
"fixme:d3d_draw:drawPrimitive Using software emulation because not all material
properties could be tracked"
and the CPU load is between 70% and 100%, depending on what is rendered.

When I want to create a game, exactly when I try to browse for maps, after
hitting the browse button starcraft hangs (but responds to alt-f4 and exits
eventually). This didnt happen in 0.9.42, not sure about 0.9.43, happens every
time in 0.9.44.

DVD Profiler takes information from Windows XP and higher to determine
different themes within the program; specifically a choice between Blue,
Silver, and Olive (mapping to NormalColor, Metallic and Homestead
respectively). In addition, my standard XP install gives DVD Profiler some more
options, including Obsidian.
Attached are XP and Linux comparisons for Blue, Olive, and Obsidian (XP on top,
Linux below). When taking shots from each OS, ONLY the theme from within the
application was changed (under the view menu item) - I made no change to the
actual themes in display properties (Window XP) or Winecfg.
Also attached is a screen shot of the application when it originally opens with
the 'blue' theme (its welcome screen). Note how the welcome screen displays the
correct colours, which change appropriately when you change the theme in DVD
Profiler.
I also copied the contents of the Resources/Themes directory from XP to Wine to
see the effect. It gave additional Theme options in Winecfg, but made no
difference when the same test was performed within DVD Profiler.

To repeat, set 16 bpp mode or run in virtual desktop,
else you'll hit bug 3556.
Typing exercises are responsive, but each time
I press a key, the music skips. Log shows lots
of dsound in use.

Hello all,
I use Fedora 8 and wine 0.9.54 (the rpm provided by the official repos).
Wine appears somewhat ok. Anyways, I'm trying to run a W95/98 game, Panzer
General 2. The Wine site says it works fine.

I was able to get the game running by changing to a Virtual Desktop and it
loads to the main menu screen fine. However, after I start a scenario, the game
loads up with the game control menu, but the central part of the screen where
the map of the scenario should be doesn't change. It just stays the same
graphic as the previous main menu screen. Clicking on the button to look at the
strategic map crashes the game. Basically it appears anything with some bit of
graphics doesn't work.
I've changed Emulation to W95 or W98 for the program, and also played with the
Video modes, but none of this helps. Any ideas? It looks like a video problem.

Note :
1. this bug seems to be exactly the same that when I wanted to use PG2 under
Win XP without having set the "Win 95/98 compatibility mode" in the properties
of its desktop shortcut.
2. I use the official game CD to install and run the game, not an ISO (I've
bought it).
