I'm using the WineHQ Debian packages on debian unstable.
U3 "smart" USB disks have a fake CDROM on them with some windows software for
managing portable apps. I wanted to run the program (U3 Uninstaller) that turns
that feature off. To download the uninstaller:
1. Visit http://www.u3.com/uninstall/default.aspx
2. Click "Remove Launchpad"
3. Click "Submit and Continue"
4. Click "Download the Uninstall App"
5. Save the file.
Running the executable from there gave me a window with almost nothing on it
(screenshot attached) and the below fixme/error log. The box in the upper left
closes the window.

Severity: enhancement

Component: wine-kernel

ReportedBy: winehqbugs(a)bugmenot.com
In Windows, programs can use wmi object to gain information to certain statics
about the processor, and so on. Information from "/proc/cpuinfo" (in Linux) and
so on need to be used to mimic wmi object output that Windows uses. At the very
least, wine should give an output of 0's when wmi objects are retrieved, so
that the program doesn't crash.

Summary: WXTide32 fails to display popup from main app window
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.55.
Platform: PC
URL: http://wxtide32.com/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: n5470(a)pinefields.com
WXTide32 is an app (based on xtide, effectively an enhanced port of xtide to
Windows, released with GPL - http://wxtide32.com/ ) that displays tide levels
for specific locations in either a conventional window and/or a system tray
icon. Clicking on the tide information in the main window should give a popup
showing time and tide level for the location picked on a graph of level vs. TOD
(time of day). In the AppDB, this app (V2.0?) is reported as creating a "grey
block" when left-clicking on the tide graph. This report was confirmed with
WXTide32 V4.7. In debugging another app [Coastal Explorer - see Bug 11548],
builtin comctl32.dll was replaced with native comctl32. V4.7 still does not
display data in the popup. However, two different changes in behavior have
appeared: 1) the popup now goes away when the left-click ends, as expected, and
2) the popup may either contain a grey field or the upper left corner of the
screen background image (which, conveniently, is sufficiently distinctive to be
easily identified) even though the popup is *not* in that location; the
background segment is being blitted(?) to the popup. In summary, using native
comctl32 alters the problem (popup is no longer permanent) but does not fix it
(data to be shown in popup is still missing).
A similar popup is supposed to appear when the cursor passes over the system
tray icon for WXTide32 and that happens as expected. The problem, then, is
only in a popup from the main window and not from the system tray.
WXTide32 is invoked with:
wine /usr/local/windows/src/wxtide32/wxtide32.exe
I plan to re-install the app in the ~/.wine structure to see if this restores
the missing popup contents.

Summary: IP Address Control busted?
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.54.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
This may be related to or masked by bug 2149 / bug 1798.
A user reported that his in-house app couldn't even
jam anything into the IP address control:
--- snip ---
I tried [Robert Reif's example app from comment 1 of bug 2149].
I also can type into it and can disable/enable it.
but my problem is more than that.
In my app, I can also type into ip address control box. but the thing
is what I typed is simply ignored.
I am not actually a C/C++ programmer. So I can read codes and modify
but it's not easy for me to start a new app by myself. So sorry I cant
give u a example.
but hope this helps:
as i need to set port and IP.
the port input box is simply a text input box. with the following codes,
my app can display 49152 and 1 respectively in my two ports input boxes
in WINE in Fedora 8.
/***********************************************************************
***********/
GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT_MTX1_PORT)->SetWindowText("49152");//default value
49152 can be displayed in WINE
GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT_MTX1_PORT)->EnableWindow(TRUE);//normal text input
box
GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT_MTX2_PORT)->SetWindowText("1");//default value 1 can
be displayed in WINE
GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT_MTX2_PORT)->EnableWindow(TRUE); //normal text input
box
/***********************************************************************
***********/
but the following codes:
/***********************************************************************
***********/
GetDlgItem(IDC_IPADDRESS_MTX1)->EnableWindow(TRUE);//ip address control
input box
GetDlgItem(IDC_IPADDRESS_MTX1)->SetWindowText("1.1.1.1");//default value
cant be displayed in WINE
GetDlgItem(IDC_IPADDRESS_MTX2)->EnableWindow(TRUE);//ip address control
input box
GetDlgItem(IDC_IPADDRESS_MTX2)->SetWindowText("2.2.2.2");//default value
cant be displayed in WINE
/***********************************************************************
***********/
My app does not show "1.1.1.1" or "2.2.2.2" in ip address control input
boxes in WINE.
And of course the codes work in windows.
In Wine, when the ip address control gets focus, I see
err:ipaddress:IPADDRESS_GetPartIndex We subclassed the wrong window!
(hwnd=0x2002a)
on the console.
--- snip ---
He can't provide a demo app, but perhaps the above info is enough
to track this down.

Summary: Europa Universalis 3 - Crash after intro
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P4
Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jonte.jonsson(a)gmail.com
Hello!
I'm having a problem running the game Europa Universalis III with Wine (I am
willing to spend a lot of time with this since EU3 is the last thing I need to
get working to get rid of Windows). I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy on a Philips
laptop with Core2 Duo processors, an ICH8 chipset and a Mobile GM965/GL960
Integrated Graphics Controller. I know that there have been discussion about
the compatibility of these Intel chipsets and Pixel Shader 2.0, but since the
game is working great on Vista, I see no reason why it couldn't with Ubuntu.
Please note that I am a very new to Linux, so I'm sorry if there is something
obvious I've overlooked. I have tried to backtrace my steps with as much detail
and as many logs as possible below:
I got the latest version of Wine, 0.9.54. EU3 is sold for downloading through
www.gamersgate.com, and I still have the installation files from the download
left, so to install the game, I opened the original setup.exe in Wine, to
install on my Virtual C drive. There didn't seem to be any error, the terminal
showed this during installation:
fixme:reg:GetNativeSystemInfo (0x34fea0) using GetSystemInfo()
fixme:process:IsWow64Process (0xffffffff 0x34fe9c) stub!
fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership ((nil) 0x12c7d0 0x34fe1c) stub!
fixme:sfc:SfcIsFileProtected ((nil), L"C:\\Program Files\\Paradox
Interactive\\Europa Universalis III\\unins000.exe") stub
fixme:shell:IPersistFile_fnGetCurFile (0x13b698)
fixme:shell:IPersistFile_fnGetCurFile (0x13b698)
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
I attempted to start it with 'wine eu3game.exe' and got this:
err:module:import_dll Library MSVCP60.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program
Files\\Paradox Interactive\\Europa Universalis III\\eu3game.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program
Files\\Paradox Interactive\\Europa Universalis III\\eu3game.exe" failed, status
c0000135
So I downloaded MSVCP60.dll, put it in .wine/drive_c/windows/system32, added it
as an override DLL in winecfg and made a new attempt, this time with
winelauncher. I get the intro movies (there are two of them, launched before
the game starts) and everything looks great, sounds work, but then it just
crashes before the game starts. The error log is attached as eu3log. I also
tried with debug on, the full log is attached as eu3logfull.
Checking for patches, I found a 1.03 patch for the game which I installed with
wine. While this seemed to work, I got a lot of errors, as in attachment
eu3patchlog. On launching eu3game.exe with wine again though, the exact same
error messages as before shows up after the intro, and nothing else.
Finding the game in the appdb, I saw that a user had managed to get the game
working taking the following steps:
* Using native versions of MSVCP60.DLL and D3DXOF.DLL (needs to be set to
native,builtin in winecfg/user.reg)
* Adding "VideoMemorySize"="128" and "UseGLSL"="enabled" to the
~/.wine/user.reg file
(* Setting "OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo" and "DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl" for
improved Performance
* Setting OSS as only sound driver)
* Starting wine from the game directory or using winefile
* In the GameDirectory/settings.txt set fullScreen=no
I followed these steps (the ones between parentheseses was attempted but found
unsuccesful, and thus removed). The results are the same, I made a new pair of
logs though for someone with more technical knowledge to evaluate if this had
any effect. These are attached as eu3log2 and eu3logfull2.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, or any direction as to what
seems to be the problem.

"Subject: funky font rendering
I'm happy to report that PS 7 has been working really well. Only thing that is
a bit of a hindrance is the font rendering in the "save for web" dialog. You
can take a look here:
http://www.eartherdesigns.com/ss/funky_fonts.jpg
I don't remember this being an issue with wine-0.9.52. I updated to 0.9.53
about a week ago but this is the first I've really used PS since then.
I really need to be able to read the numerical quality setting etc. Is there a
way to fix this?"
