Both these apps have splash screens with transparent backgrounds, which are transparent when using Metacity. But when using Compiz Fusion, the backgrounds render black. I'm not sure if the component should be wine-gui or wine-gdiplus, so I guessed and selected the former. The initial splash screen that says "Loading..." in several languages shows up fine. Then I get the following dialog boxes: "Error locating tag node in SetGlobalClassInfo function Current XML file is: GameInfo/CIV4PlayerOptionInfos.xml" Clicking "OK" gets the same dialog box repeated. After that, the game crashes. I have attached a log and I will try to attach a screenshot. A screenshot (provided by Chris in the KOTOR discussion pages on appdb) is attached that demonstrates this. This issue is present on systems with the following specifications: * Pentium III with an Nvidia Riva TNT2 M64 card * ~1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, and an Intel 945G (GMA) This issue is *not* present on systems with the following specifications: * HP with integrated graphics * ~1.6GHz Pentium 4, 256MB RAM, Nvidia FX5600 This was observed by me previously, but I put it down to my use of a computer that wasn't good enough to be able to run 3D games under wine. Recent comments in the discussion for this program have indicated that this is also an issue on more recent systems that should be able to run the program properly.
