Yep, this bug appears with pathnames having space. It stops on first space and
can't enter subfolders. You may reproduce this bug with:
wine start 'c:\windows\profiles\All Users\Application Data'
It will open All Users, showing contents of profiles folder.

Okay, I've patched 1.1.2 with your patcha and now it does launch wine file,
but! it won't open the requested location (it is
c:\windows\profiles\<username>\Application Data\Watchtower\Research
Favourites\U\).
I am not too sure, but it seems to be some wine file bug, since it just does
not want to show up contents of Application Data folder in user folder. When I
click Application Data folder in the tree, the right pane just displays
contents of parent folder. So, I can't reach any contents of application data
folder in user folder.
See the screenshot: http://www.polosatus.ru/wine/winefile_bug.png
Hmm... Strange thing... When I right-click the Application Data folder in the
tree and select Select or Explorer items (first and second items, I have
localised wine), it does open the folder and I can reach it's subfolders.
Do you need some logs?

I'm having trouble reproducing this bug.
Does it only happen when downloading a lot? What do I have to do other than
start a bunch of large files downloading?

Hmm, working fine now. It wouldn't get past the system sound test yesterday.
Maybe my system was too busy...
Attempting to launch the game fails with a backtrace. Setting Direct3d to gdi
lets the splash screen stay on the screen, but it hangs and never starts.

As for the last comment... I'm not so sure. Native is *of course* better, and
indeed the only reason I'm looking at running emule on wine. amule has all the
features I need but I'm getting weird and nasty system crashes very frequently
when running it. I have tested and retested my hardware and that's not the
cause. It just so happens that when running amule *everything* turns to
custard. So why not use emule? Well if I'm going to have my system heavily
overloaded just by running a windows app on wine then maybe there is another
option?

I don't think my patch is completely correct. Can't you reproduce the problem
I describe? If not with your test program, try with the test Syed attached.
