Summary: Bug with OSS sound in latest WoW patch 2.2.0
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.45.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-multimedia
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: kris(a)pcbsd.org
After updating World of Warcraft to the latest patch, 2.2.0, sound seems to be
messed up when using the "OSS" driver. The sound appears to be "jerky" and
static, while the game itself runs fine. This may have something to do with the
update in WoW to support voice chat and their sound-driver.

Greetings,
A few weeks ago a friend of mine set Wine 0.9.41 to support Eve Online.
Other than a few of the graphical issues noted in previous bugs, I have seen no
issues, until I started moving from solar system to solar system. I am have
that I can warp anywhere within system without issue, however, when I attempt
to use a stargate, my system will hang intermittently.
Initially, I thought it might have been an issue with the Video card
overheating, or possibly memory issue, however, I have been able to eliminate
both of those as issues. Further, I have found that it does not matter if Eve
is in the foreground (covered over by another application such as firefox),
background, or in a window.
Please note that I did not start playing Eve until wine-0.9.41 come out, so
I have not tested previous versions, however, I have been able to replicate the
issue in wine-0.9.43.
When my system hangs, it is a complete system hang, CTRL-ALT-BKSP and SysReq
do not work. Additionally, just to be sure, I have tried to ping, ssh, and
even use a serial console and all of them fail.

I am pretty new to wine, have been a windows guy for 10+ years, linux 2-3
years. Found a guide to getting CS3 to install on wine-reviews.net. I set
gdiplus.dll to native, builtin.
First try of CS3, it loaded, but rendering toolboxes were very slow and choppy.
Installed comctl32, corefonts, dotnet20, gdiplus, allfonts, vcrun6 set to
winxp.
:~$ wine ~/.wine/drive_c/"Program Files"/"Adobe Photoshop CS3"/Photoshop.exe
there were a TON of fixme lines, after photoshop loads and finishes its initial
checking, it just flat out closes. the attachment contains information from the
point of run until it page faults with thread 0009.
Just before adding the attached log, I noticed that there is more than just one
unhandled page fault.

Format is a very used function in VB6 programs.
In the wine 1.1.4 I think the following fix had changed the right behaviour of
VB6 format function: in the example the negative values have 2 minus instead of

When application is showing richedit widget with long content, it shows a

When user is hovering the mouse cursor over the scrollbar, it should change to

It's a minor issue, but should be reported. Cheers

Hi,
I have a go game with a fairly simple GUI that is built on wxWidgets/Win32. All
board drawing is done with normal DC functions, via a wxWidgets
(Buffered)PaintDC.
I received several reports that the playing board does not show up when using
the program under Wine. There are (obviously) no problems under Windows.
It surprises me that it does not work as as only very basic Win32 GDI drawing
functions are used.
I am wondering if someone can take a look at this, it looks like a bug in wine.

Wine 1.1 on Linux just shows a big black square where the playing board should
be.

UniWS is a universal widescreen patcher used for multiple games.
At launch, wine fails to parse its .ini file correctly and uniws emits the
error message: "Your PATCHES.INI file is for a different patcher version. A new
version of Universal Widescreen Patcher may be available for download."
It turns out that patches.ini is in Mac format (CR-only line endings).
Converting it to CRLF allows the application to start and work.
This works out of the box on windows, only wine users have reported this error
message on message boards.
The shortcoming is in the kernel32:PROFILE_* set of functions. Ought to be
pretty straightforward to fix in PROFILE_Load. The +profile debug log shows the
bug quite clearly.

This software only supports XP Professional and Vista Professional - not home

not as user. So I assume that the installer is expecting an account with
administrator privileges. However, I assume wine is only set up to install
user-level desktop applications.
So what may be needed is a way to emulate administrator and user levels within
wine.

I made a regression testing from "good" release Wine-0.9.59 to "bad" release
Wine-0.9.60. I added the result as an attachment.
If I made it correct, there is a problem with "preloader: Reserve low memory

Summary: Wine WordPad fails to correctly open CP1251 RTF
documents with russian letter "ya"

A screenshot, demonstrating the problem
If an RTF document is encoded in Windows CP1251 and contains Russian letter
"ya" ("я"), it will be truncated by Wine Wordpad at the position of that
character's first occurence.
OpenOffice.org opens the same documents without truncating.
