Summary: Steam tray icon doesn't appear if panel hidden in
autohide mode
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.60
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: winex11.drv
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rmuncrief(a)comcast.net
This bug may be related to the now closed bug 12362, but I've been asked to
file a new bug report for it. I am running Ubuntu Gutsy AMD64.
I've found that the Steam system tray icon doesn't appear correctly if the
bottom panel is in autohide mode and hidden.
If the panel is completely hidden (by using gconf-editor and setting
/apps/panel/default_setup/toplevels/bottom_panel/auto_hide_size to 0) A space
is created for it in the system tray, but right or left clicking over it does
nothing.
If the normal autohide setting of 6 is used then the leftmost icon in the
system tray will be duplicated, but it will function as the Steam system tray
icon. For example, my leftmost icon is Basket, so when I start Steam the Basket
icon is duplicated, but it fully functions as the Steam icon would.
However, if you hold your cursor over the panel so it's visible when Steam
starts then the tray icon appears and functions correctly. And of course if the
panel isn't in autohide mode the tray icon also appears correctly. So it
simply appears that if the panel is not fully visible when Steam starts, the
Steam system tray icon is not loaded correctly.

When trying the patching in Anarchy Online, the AnarchyPatcher.exe produces an

window then flashes on for a brief second then terminates.
This occurred since Anarchy patch 17.5.2, when the patcher was updated by the
patch engine.

Summary: Blood 2:The Chosen (Version 2.1) - rendering range
problem
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.52.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
Hi there,
I just installed the old DirectX 6 (???) game Blood 2: The Chosen. I did apply
the 2.0 patch and after that the 2.1 patch (like it should be done according to
the patching guides on the net).
I can start Blood2, but I have both visual errors and performance problem. This
game is really old, so performance should NOT be a problem. I have a nVidia
Geforce FX 5900, a rather old card but comparing this to the GFX-card I
originally used to play Blood 2 (a Matrix G200) the nVidia is a performance
beast.
Going to attach the wine output when running the application. Installation and
patching was all done through wine, and I had no error messages or warnings
there.
Now coming to the visual problems. Also going to attach some screenshots from
the first level of the game. It looks like some sort of rendering range
problem, maybe z-buffer related or probably something with mipmaps (because
only textures further away from the player are affected). I've already seen
such kind of artifacts, but not on this system but with my integrated intel
i915 chipset (where mipmap support was broken in mesa GIT).
Thanks,
Tobias

When I run Anarchy Online in fullscreen mode and try to switch away from it
with either Alt-Tab or by changing to another workspace, the AO window
immediately pops back on top again. This prevents me from doing anything else
while playing AO, like reading guides from the web. I'm using Sawfish as my
window manager. Neither the game's own windowed mode nor Wine's desktop window
exhibit this behaviour.

It seems that the map is split into a grid, and the squares of the grid that
are affected by shadows are rendered with a red shade. When the shadow moves
forward so much that it would touch the next square, that square gets filled
with red immediately, so the squares sort of "jump" forward.
This is a screenshot from the AppDB:
http://appdb.winehq.org/appimage.php?iId=18818
And a demo version can be found here:
http://www.gamershell.com/download_16702.shtml
This is the only, and so far most severe bug I've found in the game running in
Wine, it's quite annoying! It would be good enough if there was a way to
disable the shadows!

Status bar improperly rendered in lower left
Chrome uses a status bar that to display when actions, such as loading a site,
are taking place. When an action begins the status bar should appear light
blue in the lower left corner of the screen with text describing the action,
and when the action is complete the status bar should disappear.
When running Chrome in Wine the status bar does does not correctly appear and
disappear. Problems include: the status bar is present without any status text
when chrome starts, loading pages almost never triggers updating the status bar
with a status message, the status bar occasionally shows through windows placed
in front of the chrome window, rarely the status bar does change but it then
returns to being stuck in the new state.
The stuck status bar is blue, but attempts to capture the status bar with a
screen shot result in the status bar simply being incorrectly rendered. A
screen shot is attached.

See bug 14381 for the overall bug; this is just the msxml3 part.
Roy's recipe in bug 14381#14 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14381#c14)
for installing lively includes copying msxml3 and msxml3r from windows xp.
We shouldn't need to do that.

Summary: Holding spacebar to use hand tool in Photoshop CS2
causes significant lag
Product: Wine
Version: 20050930
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: DeathKnight5(a)comcast.net
When running Photoshop CS2, holding the 'spacebar' key to temporarily switch to
the hand tool and trying to use it to pan around an image while having a
different tool selected will cause Photoshop CS2 to lag significantly. Using
the hand tool regularly by selecting it from the toolbar will work properly,
though.

Summary: 3D Studio MAX 7.0 cannot render 3D windows in program

Created an attachment (id=12376)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=12376)
Output from terminal (I broke it down to show what I saw, when I saw it
happen).
After using ProcessExplorer to figure out what it used, I used a few DLL
overrides and got the program to load it's window. After that, it locks up and
simply can't load the 3D panels in the program for some reason. I've tried all
I know so I figure it would be a good idea to tell about the bug on here (I
also submitted my test data recently, and at this current moment is yet to be
accepted).
My WINE version is 0.9.59
This is the list of DLL overrides I had to use. You will likely have to tweak
them to try getting DirectX rendering to work.
avifil32 (native)
comctl32 (native)
comdlg32 (native)
dcap32 (native)
dciman32 (native)
ddrawex (native)
imagehlp (native)
kernel32 (native)
lz32 (native)
msacm32 (native)
msvfw32 (native)
msxml3 (native)
ole32 (native)
oleacc (native)
oleaut32 (native)
oledlg (native)
opengl32 (native, built-in)
regapi (native)
riched20 (native)
riched32 (native)
shdocvw (native)
shell32 (native)
shfolder (native)
shlwapi (native)
You can remove the opengl32 override from the list if you want to try DirectX
rendering. I also observed that unlike trying it in OpenGL mode, the only time
that the window loads properly under DirectX rendering mode is after first
selecting that mode, but trying to run the program again, it renders garbage
for the window.
There may be some dll's in there that are unecessary, but I grabbed the ones
that processexplorer said 3D Studio MAX was using during the time, and a few
that I thought might also be necessary for the DLL's listed to work properly.
Also, Software rendering failed, too. :(

Summary: The regression of Titan Quest game
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.56.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: barafu.albino.cheetah(a)gmail.com
People in AppDB claim that they have managed to run Titan Quest game nearly
flawless. However, with Wine 0.5.56 it fails after changing the resolution,
saying that
wine: Call from 0x7b843ad0 to unimplemented function
d3dx9_36.dll.D3DXAssembleShaderFromFileA, aborting
though the app was told to use OpenGL instead.
I guess it is a bug in DirectX implementation.

The game starts up, changes the resolution and then crashes.
Slowing down the execution (for example by using strace or WINEDEBUG=all)
reveals, that a small window with three buttons on the bottom, one of which
being "Start Game", appears for a very brief moment before it closes again and
the game switches to fullscreen mode. The content of the window is not visible.
