As this bug doesn't appear reliable, it appears to be some sort of race condition. A lot of these messages appear reliably, though: fixme:ntdll:NtLockFile I/O completion on lock not implemented yet Possibly, Catia uses NtLockFile()'s 4th argument to ensure file read synchonisation. Start application, select Tools from the menu bar, Select Settings... at the bottom of the menu. This presents a pop-up with several choices: Display, Environment, File and Customize. Select any of these by clicking on the left mouse button will crash the application. Crash occurs with Corel Presentations versions 9, 11 and 12 but not with 13, so sorry, no free trial download available. Host system is Kubuntu 8.04 x86, Linux 2.6.24-19. But finally it fails when the *Media Player* replays the Video (or Flash???) with an Error: Title: Direct Player Error Text: Frame not defined. Script Error. Continue? Yes/No. Selection: NO => the App terminates Selection: YES => the App continues, but the video lacks of interface. i.e. no further speech and no further interaction is possible. Normally there should be something like speech, then you click on some Buttons where it is checked, if the mouse-selection on screen was fine, etc.etc. I guess, as long as the whole interaction remains in the Window, the app works fine. But as soon as it tries to grab the full Window, then it fails. The error occurs only, after some progress after the start. But this is finally a Blocker. Sine I have no idea, what kind of *Video* this is, I guess, this might happen as well in other scenarios as well. Shut application down. Start it again. Splash screen appears (eventually), splash screen disappears (eventually). Then nothing. Main window does not apppear. No 'entry' on the task bar. No amount of window maximisation/minimisation, desktop switching etc. will make the main window appear. There are tasks but they are not eating CPU (ps -f -u $USER confirms this). Starting the application a second time (in a different console window) gives: err:ole:CoUninitialize Mismatched CoUninitialize and exits. The first invocation puts up the main window (which is almost a 'shaded'). Roll this window down and the application is usable. Ther is nothing untoward in the console output of the first invocation. Note: First invocation of application after install produces a pop-up window claiming the serial number (aka licence key) cannot be found. Only after entering the appropriate number (key) does the main window appear. However, I have had 'nothing happens' behaviour after a file recovery pop-up after application crash. Installer 'requires' winetricks wsh56 but application is run without any dll overrides. winetricks corefonts are installed. Behaviour is repeatable. If you need it I can send you a copy. Till the version 0.9.33 of WINE I can use it in Ubuntu Linux (Feisty 7.04 distro), after that version I always had to reinstall the old version of WINE in order to use EasyPlot. Using a newer version of WINE the result was a great use of CPU power (with increasing temperature) but nothing happened. Now I upgrade my OS to Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex-8.10 and now it's impossible to reinstall the old 0.9.33 version of WINE because of a conflict between libldap2_2.1.30-13.3_i386 (required by 0.9.33) and the new libldap-2.4-2 that is present in Ubuntu. Obviously also the new 1.0.1 version of WINE doesn't work... In the Internet you can find (here: http://www.amion.com/ep/eplot.html) the demo version 4.0.5 of EasyPlot. Since I wasn't able to find anything, I decided to write my own (attached), then run it through Jason Summers' bitmap test suite (http://entropymine.com/jason/bmpsuite/reference/reference.html). One of these bitmaps failed the test (g08offs.bmp), appearing different to the reference image. According to the reference page, the "... bfOffBits in [the] header not set to the usual value. There are 100 extra unused bytes between palette and bits." The program has been compiled with mingw32 (Version 4.2.1.dfsg-1) on a Debian system (see Makefile for full parameters etc.). The reason my app calls OleLoadPicturePath(..) instead of LoadImage(..) is because it is an easy way to add the capability to load jpegs and gifs without need to add extra image libraries (which would add to the size of the installer). Not that important for my program, just means the users would have to convert the skin images to bitmaps in order to use them. But maybe it might affect other programs too, and could cause an access violation if the programmer doesn't initilise the pPic. Hope this helps, any questions? If exception occured in main thread, WinAPI 'select' call in secondary thread interrupted with WSAINTR error code. The short Delphi example is in the attached sample.tar.bz2. WSAINTR result in Win32 select mean "A blocking Windows Socket 1.1 call was canceled through WSACancelBlockingCall." (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms740141(VS.85).aspx) But "The WSACancelBlockingCall function has been removed in compliance with the Windows Sockets 2 specification, revision 2.2.0. The function is not exported directly by WS2_32.DLL and Windows Sockets 2 applications should not use this function. Windows Sockets 1.1 applications that call this function are still supported through the WINSOCK.DLL and WSOCK32.DLL." But in Linux EINTR have a different meaning "EINTR A signal occurred before any requested event."
