Font size set to 12 in Delphi/WINE.
Hey all,
after the installation of Delphi worked without noteworthy problems, I am now
experiencing a couple of issues with WINE drawing/printing things, which might
be easily fixable due to the fact that they are just graphical problems.
First one: in Delphi one can set various font sizes for elements like Labels,
Panel and so on, which works fine in Windows. But WINE shows a strange behavior
here: when changing from font size 12 to 14 WINE does nothing, whereas in
Windows the font size really grows. Also, you could set the the size to 100 (I
did for testing purposes in the screenshots), but WINE does not change any size
but uses still the 12pt size, it seems that something is broken there within
WINE.
Well that's happening in the "designer" mode, but it seems to be the same on
runtime, so I guess there might be also other applications hitting that bug
with binary programs (Screenshots flagged with "Runtime") ...
Second one: properties changed in the object inspector should be bold when they
are not set to the default value. That's a nice feature which helps people to
see which property *they* changed and makes it easy to revert bad decisions.
However, WINE does not print them in bold font or anything
This bug is not limited to object inspector though, NO fonts in Delphi's
"design" mode are bold, even when set to that, but instead WINE ignores it,
even in the compiled program later on.
This does NOT hit the editor in Delphi which is able to show wonderful bold
text.
You can find plenty examples for this bug in the "Delphi-Size-xx" screenshots.
Third issue: that is a little bit more complicated indeed and might not be
easily to fix in contrast to the first ones.
As you may or may not know (at least you will see it) Delphi has something like
a box with verbose compiler messages at the bottom side of the editor.
Now one can double click on the first message and the editor is jumping to that
specific line where an error or a warning occured, setting the background of
that line to red for better visibility.
We fix that issue (or not ;)) and double click on the second entry in that
box... this time the editor should jump to the second error line and so on,
like above, but there are some problems with WINE.
When clicking on the second entry the editor is NOT jumping to the second
erratic line but to the first one and the first entry remains
"activated"/highlighted in that box.
It is possible to override/"fix" that behavior by clicking into that box one
time and then selecting the entry one wants to have a closer look at and THAN
double click on it/in the box.
Well, as that might be possible, it's not very comfortable and not the default
behavior and should be fixed as well. :)
So that are my three points so far, I could not find any other bugs yet. ;)
You will have some screenshots attached both with WINEs (version 0.9.51 with
that little msi patch of truiken) behavior and the one under a natively running
Windows (not on the same boxes, though, but that should not cause any problems)
in the next comment. (By the way, why does Bugzilla allow only one attachment
in the first Bug Commit?)
-Ionic
(The entries in the StringGrid you see there in two of the screenshots are just
plain fiction; neither the names nor the attributes given there correspond to
the reality. (I included this to prevent privacy legality actions.))

The new E-mail address is the same as now already in use for WINEHQ/Bugzilla.
WINEHQ/AppDB does not let me change the E-mail address to the new address, as
it indicates the name is already in use.
However, WINEHQ/AppDB DOES allow me to login already with the new address, so
apparently it has already been set up as some kind of alias.
I puzzled, and unable to find a way to rectify this, as I see no option in the

Summary: Apps not restoring correctly after minimizing twice
Product: Wine

This is a problem occurring in different applications. Examples are "Welt am
Draht" (http://mathespiele.ma.funpic.de/programm.php?id=33) as well as
PlasmaShop and PRPTool (http://www.guildofwriters.com/wiki/PlasmaShop).
When I minimize them using the minimize button on the window border or by
clicking their task-bar entry, and then restore them by clicking the entry
again, the "Minimize" button is no longer available in the top right corner of
the window. If I then minimize and restore it again by clicking the task-bar
entry, the app is not restored correctly: The window is only about 20 pixels
wide and 50 pixels high then, without any content being drawn. It continues to
run fine, just that I can't interact with it as the window has no content and
can't be resized. Closing it by right-clicking in the task-bar correctly quits
the app without data being lost.
What is even more strange is that I can fix this problem with "Uru - The Path
of the Shell" (no matter whether it is in the same wineprefix as the
problematic app or not - I don't have other full-screen 3D apps running in wine
so I can't test if it works with other games, too): I restore the app, then
restore Uru. press Windows+D to go to the desktop and restore the app again -
it opens fine then. Minimizing and restoring it once again brings it back to
the broken state.

With today's git, Adobe Photoshop CS4 installs nicely.
However, it doesn't start up. To reproduce, assuming
you've already downloaded and unpacked
ADBEPHSPCS4_LS4.7z/ADBEPHSPCS4_LS4.exe:
$ rm -rf .wine
$ wine iexplore http://winehq.org
(to preload gecko)
$ wine "Adobe CS4"/setup.exe (or whereever you unpacked it to)
$ cd ~/".wine/drive_c/Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4"
$ wine photoshop
This results in the dialog
"Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory,
Please reinstall the application."
Looking at the relay, it seems to do this after loading
amtservices.dll, waiting quite a while, and timing out.
(Loading native gdiplus doesn't help, not that I thought it would...)

Problem is as stated above. This affects me when running separate x-screens (no
TwinView or Xinerama), Nvidia graphics card with proprietary binaries. Specific
case for me is my laptop having a native 1280x800 resolution being connected to
an external monitor having 1280x1024 resolution. Wine apps and games run fine
on my laptop LCD, with or without external monitor plugged in.
For the external monitor, apps run with a limit of 1280x800 resolution. The
apps I have tested so far are E-Sword and Office 2007. The Wine window can be
maximised, but the extra 224 pixels at the bottom are filled with artifacts,
and the app window itself does not extend to that area (the bottom of the app
is still visible, just above the 800 pixel mark).
I apologize for not having screen-shots, the external monitor is in my office
and I will not be able to access it for another 24 hours from this posting.
Known workaround: Using the explorer /desktop=<name>,<res> option gives me a
window where the app can properly maximize. Unfortunately this window cannot be
resized by my window manager (Compiz, but identical results in Metacity), so
presents a useability problem, for example with Office 2007 I may want to
resize it to only take half my screen while referring to some other app
displaying underneath.
Marked as 'minor', but may need to be upgraded to 'major', as I believe this
affects a large variety of applications (basically anything that is not meant
to be run full-screen.
Seeing as this is not a crash, am not sure whether to attach trace or debug
logs. Please advise on what additional information is needed. Screenshots will
be provided ASAP.

Currently, if you start a program by double-clicking a file, or using a
wine-generated .desktop shortcut, and that program later crashes, Wine starts
winedbg and prints information to standard out. In this case that goes nowhere,
and the user gets no feedback to indicate that the program crashed.
The user should get feedback in this case.
It's not clear whether the gui should be created by an internal Wine program or
desktop-specific crash reporting tools. If this depends on crash-reporting
tools, we need to define clearly how they should interact with Wine.
Mikołaj Zalewski submitted a patch that attempts to address this using an
internal program:

Three possible NULL pointer dereferences in dlls\inetcomm\smtptransport.c,
fixed by doing the parameter check first and using the checked variable
afterwards.

int Len;
LPTSTR lpString[64];
Len = GetKeyNameTextW(22151168, lpString, 32);
After this call lpString has the correct "Insert" string - bug Len has the
wrong value 1 - I expect the value 6.
PS
Please note: It's the unicode version of GetKeyNameText.

Gimp start up messages
When using gimp 2.6, image files will not load making the program unusable.
Instead lots of "err:module:import_dll Library ..." messages are printed. The
problem is visible on program start up as well. Hence, as Mandriva 2008.1
comes with gimp 2.4.5, I can't use this newer version to replace the old
version that came with the distribution.
