Summary: Most attempts to save in Warcraft III 1.21a Reign of
Chaos crash the game
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.52.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: louis(a)qdcec.co.za
I am running Warcraft III Reign of Chaos patched to 1.21a on Fedora 7 x86_64 on
an AMD Athlon 64 with a Radeon X1300. The game runs smoothly but MOST times
when I try to save, the save dialog comes up, I enter a save name, I select
overwrite if applicable, the words Saving Game appear. Now if all goes well
the words turn green and the game continues. If it fails, the words remain
there in white, the sound continues playing, but nothing else happens. If I
overwrote a saved game, that game is no longer in my list of saved games. The
only way out is to wineboot -k -f -s and then to restart from the last
successful saved game. I notice that usually (not always) I can save a game in
the very beginning of the game, and as long as I save again soon it may work.
However, 4 out of 5 times it crashes, making the game very unplayable (if I
need to save -- which I do).

Summary: EVE-Online does not run with ATi 4870x2; DirectX
failure?
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.7
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: n.andrew.walsh(a)gmail.com
I managed to get EVE-Online working okay using onboard nVidia hardware this
summer, using the Classic version. However, I bought a nice new video card (ATi
chipset), and upgraded wine at the same time (I had it working, sorta, with a
pre-1.0.x version; this but applies to >=1.0.x). Now EVE will not load. I get
the splash screen, and the following generic errors:
wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {9a5ea990-3034-4d6f-9128-01f3c61022bc} not
registered
err:ole:CoGetClassObject no class object {9a5ea990-3034-4d6f-9128-01f3c61022bc}
could be created for context 0x1
fixme:mixer:ALSA_MixerInit No master control found on HDA ATI HDMI, disabling
mixer
Then ExeFile.exe stops running, and I'm back where I started.
If I re-install the game fresh, I do get to a login screen, but there are no
ships (just the flame trails behind them). I am told to install a patch. At the
end of the patching process, the patcher says it needs to reboot. I click okay:
and the program closes, but nothing happens.
It seems - from what I'm being told by an ATi dev on this thread:
http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13211&page=4
that this is a problem with direct rendering. Can the wine devs please let me
know if they can duplicate this problem? Contrary to the report on the AppDB, a
lot of people are having problems with this game.
Thanks,
-a

Sure enough, it complains
Cannot find import; DLL may be missing, corrupt, or wrong version\nFile

but looking at +relay, it seems possible this is a diversion, as the
log looks rather like it's checking software licenses right before the
error.

Summary: Skijump stops with "Clock Error" Message
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.10
Platform: PC-x86-64
URL: http://www.mediamond.fi/dsj3/downloads/dsj3v161.exe
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jehawking(a)yahoo.co.uk
This is a follow on bug to Bug 10836 which appears to have been cured but now
the programme runs on to reveal this problem.
Skijump finds its output screen (it did not under the 10836) sets it up as a
black window and then errors out with a message "Clock Error".
A terminal window shows messages about the programme wanting two backbuffers,
some d3d messages and a message about changing thread type but nothing
obviously related to clocks.
I tried to do a debug log - but that seems to change the results and the log
seemed to be looping through the same code until my patience wore out.
The code it was looping through did include calls to GetTickCount which does
tie in with clocks and is mentioned in other bugs such as 8320 and 7710 as a
problem.
I do not know how to take this further.

This is the console output from Wine
I can install the XDrive Desktop, but when I run it, it crashes giving a
backtrace before I even login. This particular crash may be related to not
having MFC42.DLL. However a similar crash occurs even when MFC42 is added.

mouse can't be moved by now, and an error appears forever:

Running on a virtual desktop 800x600 (same resolution used in Setup.exe with
fullscreen). Wine D3D7 RGB, Wine D3D7 HAL, Wine D3D7 T&L HAL, appear at
Setup.exe, I've tried the 3, all do the same thing.
For starting the game: wine GaiaRO.exe 1rag1 1sak1

Wine 1.1.17 +bitmap Played one round, dialog boxes, minimised and restored
WinPolis seems to clear bitmaps off the board when a dialog box appears, and
they are redrawn as the players move around the board, but are removed again
with each dialog box.
Minimising and restoring the window also redraws the bitmaps.
