Version: 1.1.23
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org

Most of the time, the second save on the same file fails.
Apparently, the opened file is still flagged as in use by the application, and
Powerpoint does not recognise it is doing it itself.
Workaround: Use "save as" and save to two files interchangeably.

Summary: La-Mulana: certain (graphical) events in game cause
severe slowdown and glitches
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lord_nightmare(a)users.sf.net
During certain events in the game (usually but not always associated with a
graphical 'sprite' such as the main player character with a transparent
background color itself being masked by another 'tile' such as a doorway), the
graphical rendering thread (but not the music thread) of the game slows down to
an unplayable speed until the effect is over.
Also during this time, the transparent color of the 'sprite' may or may not
become 'glitched' and replaced with a dark grey color. Once this latter glitch
occurs, it remains so for all transparent sprites until the game is quit and
restarted. Other glitches then occur while this 'glitch' is active.
This happens with all builtin dlls, except dmime set to native but not supplied
(i.e. game has no music) and also occurs with native dmusic dlls (game has
music); I have not tried running the game with other (directdraw) related dlls
native.
Events which trigger slowdown:
*Player going through any doorway (usually triggers glitching, especially
xelpud's tent right at the very beginning of the game)
*Player reading any sign or examining anything which produces the blue text
window (only slight slowdown here, usually does not trigger glitching)
*Background fade-out during appearance of any boss
*Fighting the first boss 'Amphisbaena' (this slowdown happens during the entire
fight once the boss has fully emerged (and breathes fire) a few seconds after
the background fade, until it is beaten)
*Fighting at least one of the later bosses <will fill in name when I find which
one>
'glitches' which USUALLY happen once the slowdown has occurred, but NEVER
before:
*The selected main and subweapon red and green bordered boxes on the item
subscreen (press f2) are no longer transparent (they have a grey center which
obscures the selected items)
*The 'quit?' window which pops up when you hit ESC will have a transparent
background and not update properly when yes or no are selected (ends up with
everything new drawn on top of the older stuff)
*The status bar with the number of secondary-weapon-ammo/weights/coins/etc will
not update numeric values properly (new numbers drawn on top of older ones
instead of replacing them)
*When entering shops (and xelpud's tent) the previous area background will not
be cleared
*The "MSX" window you get when hitting F4 (with no "roms" inserted on the f3
screen which change it) has no visible text.
La-Mulana is freeware and can be obtained from
http://lamulana.super-turbo.net/LA-MULANA.zip
The japanese to english translation patch inside that .zip file works fine in
wine.

To reproduce the bug;
- gnome, metacity 2.18.
- Warcraft III 1.21 or 1.22
- Run worldeditor (after version 1.21 CD is not necessary anymore
- Once it opens, switch to another virtual desktop, then switch back to the one

This is a portable application which does not need installation under Windows.
It is used with a specific type of radio scanner and a serial port to manage
data on the radio. The serial port adapter is a standard level converter
MAX232 chip, so I assume IF the program itself would run in Wine then it should
be able to communicate over the serial port.

This bug report is about the crash which happens, if you remain one minute in a
chat room of the Warcraft III Battle.net.
This bug report is NOT about the crash which happens at login time: Bug report
17809 is about that crash.
The application entry HOWTO explain in the section "How to get Battle.net
working?" how to work around this bug:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=3126
Please do not ask for help in this bug report. No one wants to read tones of
comments. Thanks! Logs (traces etc.) are not needed at the moment as it is
known where the crash happens (see below).
This bug is a regression caused by partly implemented functionality, the commit
which introduced the regression is:

The trace
http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20398
shows that DeleteSecurityContext gets called twice with the
same handle. The trace does not contain the crash stackstrace as Warcraft 3
catch the exception and writes down it's own stacktrace file.
The trace has been made with a wine build based on commit 1f00a870ec6ee of my
repository:
http://repo.or.cz/w/wine/warcraft3.git?a=log;h=1f00a870ec6ee172afa7ffc82a16…
So the bug is either that it should be possible to delete a security context
twice or the bug causes the DeleteSecurityContext method to be called twice.

Log of Freeze
Game was previously platinum at 9.4.9 and 1.1.0 but does not currently allow me
to enter play.
Currently freezes when screen "Downloading Current State" shows. I have posted
the log as an attachment.
Does show a wine "Program Error" dialog box in 1.2.1, did not do so in 1.1.8

Summary: Lord of the Rings Online and STEAM using wine 1.1.14
built against 2.6.28 kernel headers cannot access
network
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.14
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: sandalle(a)sourcemage.org
One of my machines has glibc built against the Linux kernel 2.6.28 sanitized
headers. After building WINE 1.1.14 (and 1.1.15), two programs I use (STEAM and
Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO)) can no longer connect to the Internet. If I
switch back to WINE 1.1.13, the applications work.
Another machine has glibc built against the Linux kernel 2.6.27 sanitized
headers. WINE 1.1.13, 1.1.14, and 1.1.15 all operate normally.
I am currently testing switching the first machine from 2.6.28 sanitized
headers to 2.6.25 (getting them to 2.6.27 would require more work, but I plan
on doing this "eventually" anyways as 2.6.28 headers are causing issues with
other programs as well).
I tried reinstalling LotRO with WINE 1.1.15 to see if a clean WINEPREFIX fixes
this, but the problem persists.
All packages used above were compiled with the upstream sources. I will try the
regression tests after confirming if switching to 2.6.25 sanitized headers also
fixes this (to show it is, indeed, the 2.6.28 headers). Either way, a
regression test should be run since WINE 1.1.13 runs fine, but 1.1.14 and
1.1.15 fail to run.

Screenshot of the Error Window
When you install the game and try to run it it will not save your settings and
will keep giving you errors about not being able to save your settings and to
check your permissions. Linux ownerships/write setting are fine so Wine seems
to be creating a bug somewhere along the lines.
Nothing in the terminal at all.
Creating a folder named "prefs" in the game's own folder fixes the problem so
it looks like Wine isn't creating the folder when the game asks it to (thus it
can't create the prefs file inside it).
