Backtrace of the error when running the installer
Hi. After having seen that, according to appdb, LDD 2.3.19 ran under wine, I
downloaded the installer, but running "wine SetupLDD-PC-2_3_19.exe" leads to
"wine: Unhandled page fault on execute access to 0x00407eb8 at address 0x407eb8
(thread 0009), starting debugger..", and the usual program error window.
Closing the windows gives the backtrace found in the attachment.
This is under Gentoo Linux x86_64, with wine 1.1.24, emulating windows xp and
running a 100% fresh install (removed .wine folder, ran winecfg to generate
necessary files).
Thanks in advance :)

Tested with wine 1.1.25; the drawing issue still happens, but now only for the
right part of the window, a region about 200 pixel wide.
A simpler way to reporduce the same bug is to drag the application's window
outside of the wisible part of the wine desktop window, then drag it back. The
corruption can be seen very clearly. Looking more carefully to the incorrectly
drawn region, it seems that only the background is not being drawn (that should
be white), the lines in the application window are actually there, but they are
hard to distinguish from the junk.

Some wine users don't know some downloads aren't good for some windows
versions.
Sometimes, install some libs do the wine system do not work anymore, because we
override the correct version of that lib for the version of Windows we are
using with Wine...
For example, the component "ExampleLibPlaySound.dll" is installed to some
application who runs with Windows XP config on Wine. Then I install DCOM98 who
have a ond version of this lib to Windows 98. What happens here: I lost my "XP"
version of the lib and my wine system stop works correctily, and I'm a newbye
user with wine and don't know how fix this.
Wine already have a configuration to work with prefix, why not do Wine create a
prefix for each Windows version automatically? I think if we have a good
project to do this, can be the solution to problems with application
compatibility.
See this case:
I have wine working with Windows 2000 compatibility, then I go install an
application who told me "Windows XP is needed". I open Wine config utility and
put "Windows XP", and now I can install the new application and broke my wine
system without know why exactily.
Wine is trying do 2 or 3 (or more) versions of Windows run at the same
directory! This don't happens with Windows and will not work good with Wine,
and it's not the user who need know how fix this (users are not always
programmers, can be people who knows only use the Office application).
If I'm wrong, please correct me. And thanks for attention. :-)

I was able to get sound to work with Rise of Nations full version + Thrones &
Patriots expansion (Version: 02.03.11.0302).
Wine 1.1.25, Ubuntu 9.04
Had to set the following DLL overrides to native:
dmime
dmsynth
dmusic
dsound
dswave
l3codecx
l3codecx native was required for music. Sound effects worked without it.
I removed native overrides for dmime, dmsynth, dmusic, dsound, and dswave one
by one and confirmed that sound doesn't start if any one of those overrides is
missing.
If you create a separate application profile for the overrides, it needs to be
set on nations.exe.

Recent changes in wine caused the colors to now appear completely wrong
in the game "Jade Empire", at the start menu and during the game proper
(which is however still unplayable due to the invisible characters).
The change in behavior happened between wine 1.1.23 and 1.1.25.
The colors appear all bluish and greyish.

Black Background
This has been an issue for a long time, however, I was waiting for Trillian
Astra to go into public beta testing before I could report it, so others could
test this. Strangely enough, this issue only occurs in Trillian Astra; I
haven't seen this issue in any other program, or any of the earlier version of
Trillian.
The issue is simple enough. Any image with a transparent background appears
black. The image will appear, however, the background, which is suppose to be
transparent, is black.
I will test this on Wine 1.0.25 later tonight after I get off work, running
late enough as is. But, the issue has been here for as long as I can remember.
The screen shot below will best describe what I'm seeing.

Equation Editor 3.0. MSWord ran well. EqnEd gave the error message documented
above. Many Object types from the Insert Object menu also failed. Following
this thread I set Wine to use the native usp10.dll and replaced the Wine
ole32.dll.so with the Crossover ole32.dll.so. After this EqnEd worked well. I
also installed Crossover 8.0; EqnEd worked terribly in this environment,
possibly because I put it in a Win98 bottle.

I have installed Crossover 8.0 (root install), and then installed Office 2003
in a clean user profile in F10 - the equation editor works flawlessly in this
environment for me.

Console output on crash
Hi,
(Using Ubuntu 8.04 x86)
The Nestopia NES emulator worked mostly okay under Wine 1.1.23. I just updated
to 1.1.24 and it now crashes, showing a Program Error dialog box. The Wine
console output is attached.

part from the +d3d_shader log, where the compilation fails
A shader in 3dmark06 fails to compile with the arb shader backend.
Attached is the part of the +d3d_shader log which shows the failing shader.
To run 3dmark06 you need a hack for the pointsize (pCaps->MaxPointSize =
64.0f;).

Summary: winecfg: drive list is not refreshed in winecfg, no
more disk label
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.21
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: shell32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
Since 1.1.21, going to winecfg's drives tab does not (re)scan all drives such
as CD-ROMs anymore. So access to the tab is faster, but winecfg does not
display the disk label (shown empty) and serial number (always 0) any more.
wine cmd dir d: still lists the CD-ROM label and serial number.
This is caused by commit f7e6777e6e19ca3be4b84f98baf22ef53ab19f96
