Currently when a CreateFile() is done the IRP_MJ_CREATE dispatch routine is not
called ! This is a major oversight and caused the v4.00 SIVDRIVER to crash.
For 4.01 I worked around this, but failing to call the driver when the
CreateFile() is done is a major failing and needs to be corrected. The
IRP_MJ_CLOSE routine also needs to get called for the CloseHandle().

Monkey Island 3 works pretty slow with Wine 1.1.0.
It happens only in complex locations, where there is a waterfall etc.
COMI works very slow, even on my Core2Duo 2.53 GHZ (which is pretty good for
that game I think).
The strange thing is, when the screen is scrolling (eg. the character moves to
the other part of the scene and the scene is scrolling) it work properly. When
the scene is static (eg. no scrolling, only animated parts like waterfall or
rain etc) it works very bad.
In this demo you can see this when you are shooting with the cannon. A part of
walkthrough (on how to get to the cannon):
After the intro you'll find yourself captive in LeChuck's ship. Start talking
to the small pirate and you'll realize that it's your old friend Wally. Make
him see that he is no good as a pirate and he will soon drop his hook and
start crying. Pick up the plastic hook from the floor and pick up the ramrod
from the wall. Use the cannon and sink the four boats full of skeletons.
Thanks

I am attempting to use the Qualcomm BREW simulator under wine. After
installing, I attempted to run the example applets. The application launches
and I am able to select an applet directory, but the simulated device's screen
always shows black and not the usual list of icons that represent available
applets.
The BREW simulator installer is found here:
https://brewx.qualcomm.com/bws/content/gi/products/sdk/3.1/en/3.1.5.179/ins…
Steps to reproduce:
1. Download and install BREW SDK simulator
2. Run simulator
3. Use menu to selec "File->Change Applet Dir..."
4. Navigate to c:/Program Files/BREW 3.1.5/sdk/examples/
5. Hit "OK"
6. Notice screen is black
Expected results:
Under windows, the BREW simulator will show a listing of the available BREW
applets (one for each *.mif file in the directory chosen). This list appears as

Going to "Controller Options" freezes the game, pressing "Esc" does not make it
playable again.
I don't know what other information / logs would be helpful, if you need
anything specific just say so.
This only affects the _first_ of the two games - but the 2nd seems to have a
different input system anyway (requires xinpit1_2.dll for example).

Ad Astra is a free space flight sim available at www.a-astra.com.
The game runs (as in starts) successfully, with a clean .wine prefix folder.
However once it enters 3D mode the disk starts to grind, wine spits out lots of
fixmes and the program runs slowly with fps around 3, max maybe 5. The
following is output, over and over until you stop the game.

bug example
In a Windows XP system SetupDiOpenDevRegKey() returns the "Device Parameters"
HKEY under the device instance corresponding to the supplied (DeviceInfoSet,
&DeviceInfoData) pair.
Wine's SetupDiOpenDevRegKey() returns the device instance HKEY instead.
The relevant registry keys are not created by Wine, so I had to import them
from a Windows XP system
Example:
Windows HKEY returned corresponds to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_0451&Pid_6951\5&5a20206&0&1\Device
Parameters
Wine HKEY returned corresponds to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\Vid_0451&Pid_6951\5&5a20206&0&1
The attached registry patches and source code enable the reproduction of the
bug.

This caused the v4.00 SIVDRIVER to crash as it expects to setup

When playing Alien Swarm, one of the in-game fonts usually exhibits some degree
of corruption; by which I mean that characters are either not rendered or only
their bounding box is. The character still takes up space. The degree of damage
varies from start to start, and may vary in a single session. The nature of the
damage also varies, although disappearing glyphs are the most common symptom.
A similar effect has been observed in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade.
I'm using fglrx from ati-drivers 10.4; I also tried 10.7 and it made no
difference.
I tried resetting .wine; no difference.
I tried removing /usr/share/fonts via chroot/symlink hax; no difference.
I screwed with UseFastTLS in xorg.conf; no difference.
I tried wine 1.1 and 07-30-10 git head .. no difference.
I'm quite simply out of ideas.

Backtrace of Wine attempting to launch the game executable.
Ok, this one is of no major importance I guess. I just got nostalgic and
wanted to play Cosmology of Kyoto again. Anyway, upon trying to launch the
program I get a nice crash log, and no joy.
This one is an app made with Macromedia tools. I figured I'd go ahead an
introduce a bug for this one since none exist (surprising). The backtrace is
attached below. Cheers.

commit fc96587b3d4390f16f9c7d572e27ec950f715404 past 0.9.46

wined3d: Set D3DCAPS2_CANAUTOGENMIPMAP flag when supported.
is the major regression in Ankh (the first from the trilogy) as it causes a
black screen amid the intro sequence, after the display of "Kapitel 1: Audienz
mit Hindernissen", before the father punishes Assil. The black screen remains
even after the player gets control. This imposes garbage rating in AppDB since
0.9.47.
The commit itself seems harmless:
if(GL_SUPPORT(SGIS_GENERATE_MIPMAP)) {
*pCaps->Caps2 |= WINED3DCAPS2_CANAUTOGENMIPMAP;
Likely either Ankh or Wine enter a different code path as a result of this flag
being set. Bug #11167 is related to autogen_mipmap but probably harmless (my
understanding so far is that autogenmipmap only makes textures look nicer),
because among the applications from Deck13 affected by that other bug (Luka,
Ankh2, Jack Keane), only Ankh1 goes black.
Removing that capability in wine-1.1.36 makes the screen display normally.
Using Ubuntu Intrepid with Intel i915 graphics. This app works in XP on
another hardware equipped with builtin Intel graphics. I don't know whether the
XP machine declares CANAUTOGENMIPMAP.

fonts are displayed correctly and it is possible to use the model-editor.
When it comes to simulating, Dymola uses egcs in the background. egcs fails

I tried adding the egcs/bin directory to Path using winecfg, however the
problem still persists.
Any clues?

(1.1.38 ?).
But now hitting the return key results in additional unvisible characters and
nothing happens until I do a sheet-calculation. Then SpeQ cannot calculate the
expression due to these unvisible characters. Maybe it is the order of coding a

When installing the game, file copying fails.
Files are extracted to the temp dir (C:\MDRTMP.TM~) and copied to the
installation directory (C:\MORDOR).
A popup shows this error message:
"Mordor 1.1 is not properly installed. Please re-run setup at a later time to
install Mordor 1.1 properly."
Debug logs (file and file+relay channels) attached.
The problem seems to occur when copying SHOCK.WAV, or right after that.
The file is found in the installation directory after the error shows.
The contents of the installation diretory and the temp directory at time of the
error is attached.
To reproduce:
Download demo, unzip MORDOR1A.zip and MORDOR1B.zip, run setup.exe and check
(only) "Install MORDOR" and "Install WAVE files".
Optionally, first install MORDOR only (completes without error), then re-run
setup and install the WAVE files.

I make use of owner-drawn ComboBox's within my program (ImgBurn) and under
Ubuntu (via Wine 1.0 rc5 - and all versions before it that I've tested) they're
drawn too big and end up covering up the buttons below them.
It's only a matter of 2 or so pixels but it's enough to matter.
I've attached a zip containing a couple of PNG's.
1 from Windows (with 'Themes' disabled so it looks more like Ubuntu) showing
the expected height of the box and another from Ubuntu 8.04/Wine where the
combobox slightly overlaps the buttons below it.

fd.c: In function 'set_fd_epoll_events':
fd.c:580: warning: assignment makes integer from pointer without a cast
fd.c:581: warning: assignment makes integer from pointer without a cast
Only appears on NetBSD, but not OpenBSD/FreeBSD. Vincent Povirk helped me
investigate on IRC, and looks like the problem is that on FreeBSD, in
/usr/include/sys/event.h you've got:
struct kevent {
uintptr_t ident; /* identifier for this event */
short filter; /* filter for event */
u_short flags;
u_int fflags;
intptr_t data;
void *udata; /* opaque user data identifier */
};
But on NetBSD:
struct kevent {
uintptr_t ident; /* identifier for this event */
uint32_t filter; /* filter for event */
uint32_t flags; /* action flags for kqueue */
uint32_t fflags; /* filter flag value */
int64_t data; /* filter data value */
intptr_t udata; /* opaque user data identifier */
};
Note the difference in udata 'void *' vs 'intptr_t'.
Relevant lines from the code:
EV_SET( &ev[0], fd->unix_fd, EVFILT_READ, 0, NOTE_LOWAT, 1, (void *)user );
EV_SET( &ev[1], fd->unix_fd, EVFILT_WRITE, 0, NOTE_LOWAT, 1, (void *)user
);
removing (void *) or changing it to intptr_t fixes the warning, but doesn't
seem a proper fix. Probably needs an ifdef or typedef, but I'll leave that for
someone else to decide.

It's a bug in the typelib marshaller. It doesn't check whether a
VT_PTR type is actually an interface pointer and not access it on
input when the parameter is an [out] parameter. Note that because of
the memory re-use semantics it is legal to access memory passed in to
a remote function, even when the parameter is [out].
I think it's getting close to the time to reimplement the typelib
marshaller on top of NDR functions so that we don't have to implement
these subtleties twice, would improve performance and would reduce the
amount of code.

opening a document written in Hebrew, the order of the letters in each word is
reversed, but the order of the words is right.
For example if there are two words that should appear like this (Hebrew is
written from right to left):
"FED CBA"
then on the Word Viewer in wine they appear like this:
"DEF ABC"
AFAIK this problem also occurs on other linux distros (I've seen it also on

Guild Wars has been running consistantly well over the past couple dozen
releases but 1.1.13 has introduced a new bug. With UseGLSL = disabled and
winver = win2k on an amd64 gentoo 2008.0 desktop w/ a geforce 9800gt and binary
driver 180.22 a lot of graphics have become 'blocky', much of the text is now
unreadable, the compass texture is black, etc. etc.
Seems to work normally, but maybe slower than in the past, with UseGLSL =
enabled.

On my system, with an nvidia GeForce 8500 GT, aquamark 3 runs
beautifully until the very end, where it crashes with
wine: Unhandled exception 0xc0000092 at address 0x7ead85d4 (thread 0009),
starting debugger...
The crash happens regardless of whether you choose demo or benchmark mode.
It happens right after the "massive overdraw" scene.
Supposedly this app worked before, so perhaps this is a regression.

A user said that ConvWPT ran in Wine, but gave a very complicated recipe,
so I tried simplifying it. Along the way, I noticed that Microsoft's
ActiveX Control Pad installer hangs sometimes on exit. Here's how to
reproduce:
1) Do "winetricks wsh56", else "winetricks fm20" will fail with dialog
"Setup has determined that Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 was not detected."
2) Do "winetricks fm20". This will complain "Setup was unable to start DDE
communication with the desktop". Click Ignore.
(This is probably bug 9159.)
When the installer is done, it sometimes hangs with

This bug applies to Microsoft Wine Guide 1.0a, a multimedia CD-ROM from 1995
which works with Windows 3.1 and later.
The program is unable to read some files from the CD-ROM which have names
ending in a dot. For example:
$ ls -l /media/cdrom/mswptime/vo/
total 5142
-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 136888 1995-01-28 12:48 bordeaux.

-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 108658 1995-01-28 12:54 white.
The program appears to be trying to open the corresponding name without a dot.
Start wine.exe in the root directory of the CD-ROM. A Microsoft Home splash
window opens, and there are several error dialog boxes about DLLs; click Ignore
to dismiss each one. The main window then opens. A sound should play but
doesn't. This console output:
err:mmio:MMIO_ParseExtA No . in szFileName: "F:\\MSWPTIME\\vo\\title"
Click WINE TASTING WITH OZ, then THE BASICS, then GLASSES. Each loudspeaker
icon should play a sound clip when clicked. Instead you get console output like
this (one line on clicking each button):
err:mmio:MMIO_ParseExtA No . in szFileName: "F:\\MSWPTIME\\vo\\port"
err:mmio:MMIO_ParseExtA No . in szFileName: "F:\\MSWPTIME\\vo\\sherry"

When running configure of a program in msys under wine the whole process is
incredibly slooooow compared to the same under Windows.
I've tracked the problem down to following:
$ export WINEPREFIX=`pwd`/msystest
$ wineboot -i
$ cd msystest/drive_c
$ wget -c
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/mingw/msysCORE-1.0.11-2007.01.19-1.tar.bz2

$ wineconsole bin/sh.exe --login -i
--- in msys console ---
# time for i in 1 2 3 4 5; do echo $i; done
...
real 0m0.021s
# time for i in 1 2 3 4 5; do /bin/echo $i; done
...
real 0m3.396s
i.e. each fork of /bin/echo takes approximately almost *1* second!
On Windows both examples runs fast, although /bin/echo case is slightly slower,
but still speed ratio is not *that* big.
Thanks beforehand.

After a restore, Counter-Strike is not drawn completly
I've found that wine won't draw correctly Half-Life games (mods too), which are
in OpenGL, after an alt-tab (minimize). It has begun after a kernel,
nvidia-drivers and Xorg update.
When any HL game is started all is fine. After the first alt-tab the game
"window" is cut (see the attachments). It happens even when the game has the
same resolution as my screen and when I do ctrl+alt+arrows (change the current
desktop) since it minimizes the game. I have tested with a old Half-Life
(without Steam) and the bug is reproduced too.
I'm using Gentoo Linux, kernel 2.6.32-gentoo-r7 (before 2.6.32-r3),
nvidia-drivers-256.35 (and 195.36.24 was tested too) (Asus 285 GTX),
xorg-server-1.7.6 (before: 1.6.5-r1).
Other attachments: game effects are affected as well resulting in possible
cheat exploits. Notice that these are windows captures (alt-printscreen).

I am currently using Wine 1.1.18 simplified Chinese under ubuntu. Everything

Chinese notation rather than simplified Chinese one.
Not a big problem however solving it can make this program better.

Summary: Problem in English localization of Winelib programs
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
URL: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=50499
2
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ovek(a)arcticnet.no
Most of the Winelib programs in Wine, such as winecfg, contain this in their
English localization resource (En.rc):
LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_DEFAULT
SUBLANG_DEFAULT is 1, which for English, maps to SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US. This means
that the localization in En.rc is *only* selected in an en_US locale, *not* in,
say, an en_GB locale (unless no other fallback is found).
It would probably better if these files said
LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_NEUTRAL
so that if the user has a British English user locale (from LC_MESSAGES) and a
French system locale, winecfg will show up in English, not fall back to French.
(From Debian bug #504992, linked to in the URL field.)

In the Dutch localization of Wine, Program files gets translated as "Programma
bestanden". This is:
- Inconsistent with Windows behaviour, which ALWAYS uses the name "Program
files".
- Bad grammar, it becomes "Programmabestanden" in Dutch, but it doesn't make it
sound any better.
Requesting the name to be reverted to "Program files".

I'm a Romanian ReactOS translator. (For those who don't know, ReactOS is an
operating system which seeks to be 100% compatible and similar to Windows NT.)
Many translations from Wine are passed to the ReactOS project when
synchronizing the source code.
That leads to the fact that I can't directly translate and/or update any
translation of ReactOS files that are in sync with Wine. Some translations are
already done here on the Wine project but some of them are wrong (For example
Basic colours is translated incorrectly as Culori de basă when the correct
translation is Culori de bază), others don't fit with the rest of the
translations (The translations of ReactOS should retain the terminology used in
Windows. In Windows, Cancel is translated to Revocare, in Wine the translation
is Renunţă which is the imperative form of the verb a renunţa - to give up).
I was told I should speak to you if I want to change these translations but the
problem is that many Linux distributions are translated in Romanian using
Renunţă as Cancel etc and if I try to change the translation in Wine, then
the Romanian Linux-users will strongly disagree ...
What should I do? Please propose a fix.
