Hello,
when installing Java SE JRE one of the sub-installers crashes.
Though it doesn't seem to affect overall installer result - the installer still
reports "success" in the end.

Using "orca" on the extracted .msi produces the same crash.
The useful "MsiInfo" tool from Platform SDK to verify the integrity of the .msi
files (and dump infos) crashes too if used with no options.
Backtrace doesn't reveal much. The fault caused in msi_destroy_stringtable() is
the result of an earlier failure to read in all OLE streams properly.
When the "verify string pool" option is used, it doesn't crash but shows the
STG_E_READFAULT (0x8003001e) error.

is somehow not processed properly.
Wine's OLE streams reader makes a stream access at file offset 10566656 with
byte count 512 -> past end of file.
You can use another OLE compound storage viewer to verify:
http://www.mitec.cz/ssv.html
It's a nice tool with plugin arch that lets you decode any OLE stream - if you
write plugins for it ;-)
If you open the .msi with the viewer it reports "sharing violation" which is
another Wine bug.
Dismiss the dialog and navigate the treeview with all streams listed.
Between stream #22 with 90701 Bytes (-> _StringPool stream) and #24 with 3984
bytes the 0x8003001e error appears.
The "faulty" stream #23 has a size of 16168 bytes.
Don't know if this worked in earlier Wine versions, could be a regression
though.

Hello,
after bug 17084 (.NET 1.0: imagehlp.ImageGetDigestStream needs more flesh
(assembly registration fails)) was fixed, the installer still fails.
The first blocker is now the presence of some .NET registry keys that ought to
help Mono but break the MS installer itself (path to v1.0.xxx Microsoft CLR
core library is incorrectly constructed, leading to mscorwks.dll load failure).
You can work around by deleting the following key before running the installer:
--- snip ---
$ wine reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework"
--- snip ---
Near the end, the installer spawns "regasm.exe" tool several times to register
various assemblies.
Unfortunately the tool crashes with division by zero (+tid,+seh,+relay):
--- snip ---
...

Interestingly there are other calls from the same addresses that don't crash:

--- snip ---
Using additional "printf" style debugging to dump kernel+user+idle jiffies I
noticed the crashes happen when the values accumulated only small changes in
capture intervals.
It seems the CLR employs some kind of cpu resource utilization calculation
(using certain capture intervals) that breaks if the ticks/time units increment
fall below some threshold.
Windows NT accounts SYSTEM_PROCESSOR_PERFORMANCE_INFORMATION values in 100ns
units.
See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms724509.aspx
I fixed dlls/ntdll/nt.c:NtQuerySystemInformation(
SystemProcessorPerformanceInformation class) to convert jiffies to NT-style
100-ns units and it helped to keep the .NET CLR CPU usage calculation happy and
to not let the regasm tool crash anymore (installer succeeded).

Applocate is a handy way to run apps in a non-system locale. See

for a description and screenshots.
(Incidentally, there is a similar utility called Winelocale,
see http://cinnamonpirate.com/hobbies/software/winelocale/
Its installation instructions are quite demanding,
and it probably only works for one app at a time,
unlike Applocate. If I understand correctly, anyway.)

64-bit PE + 32 bit typelib part (flags = 0x41 -> SYSKIND = SYS_WIN32)
I verified that Wine msi correctly installs them into their appropriate 32 bit
and 64 bit folders.
The 32-bit counterparts from "c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\"
are all:
32-bit PE + 32 bit typelib part (flags = 0x41 -> SYSKIND = SYS_WIN32)
===
What causes the embedded typelib to be 32-bit?
Well, the .NET assemblies these typelibs belong to are flagged as "MSIL"
assemblies.
These are bitness-neutral assemblies that are portable and can run under any
platform.
When you look at 64-bit ->
"c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\RedistList\FrameworkList.xml":

Example for bitness-aware assembly (managed C++ assemblies are automatically
platform specific):
64-bit ->
"c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\RedistList\FrameworkList.xml":
--- snip ---
<File AssemblyName="System.Data" Version="2.0.0.0"
PublicKeyToken="b77a5c561934e089" Culture="neutral"
ProcessorArchitecture="AMD64" FileVersion="2.0.50727.42" InGAC="true" />
--- snip ---
32-bit ->
"c:\windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\RedistList\FrameworkList.xml":
(the 64 bit .NET Framework 2.0 redist contains both: the 64 bit _and_ 32 bit
runtime)
--- snip ---
<File AssemblyName="System.Data" Version="2.0.0.0"
PublicKeyToken="b77a5c561934e089" Culture="neutral" ProcessorArchitecture="x86"

I guess Wine should not fail on these bitness-neutral assemblies that contain
32-bit typelibs.

Hello,
one of the main problems with current Wine msi is there are x64 installers that
mix architectures in a single MSI package: 64-bit and 32-bit components
(without a separate 32-bit installer for 32-bit components).
Basically 'msidbComponentAttributes64bit' is not handled.
Example: "mscoree.dll" -> .NET bootstrapper
"Component" table:

The first extracted 32-bit version that gets (incorrectly) extracted to
system32 folder (remember: we're 64-bit install here) and subsequently gets
overwritten with 64-bit version later.
For the registry the same applies: In order to create registry values in 64bit
HKLM for components marked with "msidbComponentAttributes64bit" there is
nothing to change in 64-bit installs.
For 32-bit components (attrs < 256) the registry stuff must go to Wow6432Node.
Ideally Wine's msi should also support something like
"msidbComponentAttributesDisableRegistryReflection" to allow 32-bit components
to write into 64bit HKLM but that's not required for now.

You have to add standard properties that indicate 64-bit environment.
Current, only the "Intel" (32 bit) standard property is handled.
--- snip dlls/msi/package.c ---
static VOID set_installer_properties(MSIPACKAGE *package)
{
...
static const WCHAR szIntFormat[] = {'%','d',0};
static const WCHAR szIntel[] = { 'I','n','t','e','l',0 };
...
GetSystemInfo( &sys_info );
if (sys_info.u.s.wProcessorArchitecture == PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL)
{
sprintfW( bufstr, szIntFormat, sys_info.wProcessorLevel );
msi_set_property( package->db, szIntel, bufstr );
}
...
--- snip dlls/msi/package.c ---
Just add handling for "MsiAMD64" (introduced with Windows Installer 3.0, still
present for backward compatibility) and "Msix64" (introduced with with Windows
Installer 3.1).
The values seem not relevant, it's only important that the properties exist.
You can reuse the sys_info values from previous GetSystemInfo() call for
"Intel" property to also test for AMD/64 bit case.
In case of x64 system set both, "MsiAMD64" and "Msix64" properties.
With that in place, this launch condition succeeds only to run into next bug
;-)

Visual C++ can build projects from the commandline with
devenv projectname.sln /build Debug
but oddly, the first time you try this on Wine, it hangs.
^C and rerunning fixes it. After the ^C, you can see
mspdbsrv.exe -start -spawn
running, so evidently the first run spawned the
pdb service but then stumbled trying to connect to it;
the second run connected fine.
I'll attach a canned script that reproduces the problem from scratch.

The double quotes around the path *are* part of the key and cause the failure
when trying to load the proxy (LoadLibraryExW with altered search path).
This works in Windows.
Best place to strip off double quotes before passing the path further is
probably COM_RegReadPath() in "dlls/ole32/compobj.c"

Everything used seems to work with the following limitation, this is a kinda

### Get and install winetricks:
### http://wiki.winehq.org/winetricks
# Set your preferences
WINEPREFIX=~/.Rtgbills winecfg;\
# Set up wine for RTG Bills using winetricks
WINEPREFIX=~/.Rtgbills winetricks vb6run art2kmin mdac27 wsh56 dcom98;\

# Or (adjust as required):
wget http://cdn.simtel.net/pub/simtelnet/winxp/busacct/bills221.exe;\
WINEPREFIX=~/.Rtgbills wine bills221.exe;\
done
It seems, for RTG Bills and Timer to run normally set dcom98 dlls "ole32",
"oleaut32" & "rpcrt4" to "builtin"; BUT to run any (it seems) of the functions
under the "Reports" menu set those dlls to "native, builtin" - some other
functions (e.g.: Setup > Bill Formats...; File > Change Matter Number...) will
fail with this set up. I guess some clever setup of winecfg could resolve this
tooing and froing.

A user asked for this package here:
http://www.linux-forum.de/warenwirtschaft-allione-5-0-a-20117.html
so I tried installing it.
First, you have to set your language to German, e.g.
LANG=DE_de.UTF-8
or it commplains about a language mismatch.
Then, you have to set your Windows version to NT 4 with winecfg, else
it complains that it needs Windows NT 4 or higher.
Then it installs. The font in the installer is almost too tiny
to read, even with corefonts installed.
It first silently installs the Access 2002 runtime
libraries and Jet 40, and those subinstallers aren't particularly
happy; they both end with
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"InstallFinalize" returned
1627
but the main installer continues blindly.
It asks if you want to keep the existing version of some wine dll; I said yes.
It installs a menu item showing that the way to run the app is
wine "C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Microsoft Shared\\Access
Runtime\\Office10\\MSAccess.exe" /Runtime "C:\\Program
Files\\AllInOne-Office\\AllInOne-Office.mde"
but that fails with file not found... maybe because of the
access runtime installation problem?

FD_WRITE event on socket test program
According to MSDN WSAEventSelect function description
(http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms741576.aspx), FD_WRITE event should
be raised only once after: a) successful connection b) WSAEWOULDBLOCK error
while in nonblocking mode.
MSDN description:
"The FD_WRITE network event is handled slightly differently. An FD_WRITE
network event is recorded when a socket is first connected with
connect/WSAConnect or accepted with accept/WSAAccept, and then after a send
fails with WSAEWOULDBLOCK and buffer space becomes available. Therefore, an
application can assume that sends are possible starting from the first FD_WRITE
network event setting and lasting until a send returns WSAEWOULDBLOCK. After
such a failure the application will find out that sends are again possible when
an FD_WRITE network event is recorded and the associated event object is set."
Unfortunately, it seems that in Wine 0.9.48 (and a few earlier versions too)
this event is raised every time it is possible to write to the socket. I've
created a simple test program (FD_WRITE-test.c) that shows this problem. When
ran on Windows I get:
lNetworkEvents: 2
lNetworkEvents: 0
but when ran on Wine:
lNetworkEvents: 2
lNetworkEvents: 2
which means that FD_WRITE was raised twice and it shouldn't.

I have an application that uses a custom control: A wrapper that displays a

by clicking outside the popup. With Wine, however, it is necessary to either
select a date or press Escape. The popup will also be closed if the user tries
to move the popup window (which has X11 WM decorations). When clicking outside
the popup with Wine, Wine generates a beep through X11 (I believe this happens
since a WM_SETCURSOR with HTERROR is generated).
A demo program is available as

TSM Casin is a software used mostly in Argentina to send SMS to cellphones
using the services provided by some webpages or sending e-mails.
The software as a development value is a crap, the developer have programmed it
with Visual Basic, have used ActiveX to attach IE to a tiny square so it can
display the Validation image, instead of just comunicating via http, have a
banner in the middle and a lot of cuestionable choices. But it is very usefull
and there isnt any linux similar tool.
It implements a custom Contact list, which is the one that is causing troubles,
everything else works fine, it can send SMS's correctly and IE-ActiveX doesnt
makes any issue.
When adding a contact and after filling all the information required (Name,
Cellphone Company, and Cellphone Number), and clicking start, the window should
close and the name should list on the contact list, but it doesnt close, then
clicking again on OK gives a warnning saying that the contact already exist,
and endeed it was added, so to close the wine i have to press Cancel.
Then i can use the contact list normally with any issue, but after closing TSM
and launching it again, it stays on an unuseful load-screen.
Then to get back TSM it is necessary to remove the created contacts, This is
done by deleting the registry key:
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-4\Software\VB and VBA Program Settings\TSM\Agenda1.0
But copying the cellphones all the time is not a very good aproach.
The download is:
http://www.tsmcasin.com/ir/?id=16
and is freeware with only unharmful banners on it.
There is just 1 post on its forums asking for a linux version:
http://foro.tsmcasin.com/tsmforo/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=716&p=2374&hilit=gpl#…
The developer stays says that windows is standard and linux dont and that wont
be a version for linux.
I know that the best solution would be to develop a real and good open source
application to handle this stuff for all people under the world, but this wont
happen any time soon, and in the mean time, the this problem can be firing a
simple error easy to fix on wine.
Cheers.

During setup of AutoCAD2005, some values in registry are incorrectly set.
In detail, what should be :
C:\\windows\\profiles\\massimo\\Applicazioni\\Autodesk\\AutoCAD 2005\\......
Is instead written like that :
C:\\windows\\profiles\\massimo\\ApplicazioniAutodesk\\AutoCAD 2005\\
Note the missing '\\' between 'Applicazioni' and 'Autodesk'
Folders in profile are created accordingly, so instead of :
massimo
Applicazioni
Autodesk
It's created as :
massimo
ApplicazioniAutodesk
That brings problems in some addons (like ExpressTools for autocad) and, I
guess,
it's the cause for the first-run error messagebox.
I think some path-related functions in wine is missing the terminating \\.

Summary: Remote virtual memory allocation error
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.13
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: loader
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: gabmoa(a)yahoo.it
ZFlash is a win32 application used to simulate and edit part programs
for a cnc. The simulator part is achieved running a reduced version
of numerical control into a fixed memory map from 1 to 8 MB (the current
version is from 1-16 MB but it's the same principle). The numerical control
need to be mapped in this way because it uses fixed addresses.
The application runs in NT 4 SP6, 2000, XP and Vista MS OS but in wine
it doesn't work.
I have seen there is a problem in the memory mapping when I try to run the
application into wine so I've created a reduced example with the only
"incriminated" part. In the attached zip file there are 3 projects:
ZLoader, Z32Sim and Test.
The steps involved are the same of the complete win32 application.
ZLoader.exe create the process 'Test', suspended, and try to reserve memory
of 'Test' from 1 to 8 MB, then it resumes the process.
Test.exe is compiled with the linker flags
/base:"0x800000" /stack:0x800000,0x1000
so the big stack can not be inserted into the first 8MB and the
base of exe is changed from the default 4MB assigned by Visual Studio.
Z32Sim.dll is loaded into 'Test' and it have to map the memory (1-8MB).
To test it in the Debug directory we can execute ZLoader Test.exe
In wine Test fail when ZLoader try to resume it (I've seen that with winedbg)
with the following error:
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr
0x7ef9e617
Unfortunately it seems a not so easy task because with winedbg I can't
attach to Test process when it's suspended.

don't even get the popup window showing the attempt to connect to FTP.
As far as I can tell, the FTP attempt only happens if you activate the DOTNET
function (after installing the software). I have not been able to get to the
point of activating the DOTNET since I can't get it that far yet.
I followed the HOWTO from the AppDB that describes the install/kill/restart
process.

IDA Pro is an interactive disassembler. A freeware version can be downloaded
from http://www.hex-rays.com/idapro/idadownfreeware.htm
When viewing a disassembly, if you hover the mouse pointer over a reference to
another location, a view of the instructions at that location pops up next to
the mouse pointer. You can increase and decrease its height by moving the mouse
wheel.
In Wine this does not work properly. The pop-up display is blank (just the
background colour). Moving the mouse wheel, you can see the text that should be
there, but it is immediately overwritten by the background colour.
To reproduce: download and install IDA Pro freeware version. Run the program
and open a Windows executable. Move the pointer over a reference to another
location in the program and wait for the pop-up display. Notice it is blank.
Move the mouse wheel and (hopefully) see the text being rendered but
immediately overwritten.

Created an attachment (id=16357)

Output of two simultaneous runs of described script
The issue occurs when concurrently running shell scripts which call Wine
processes whose standard out and standard error are both piped to another
program.
When two instances of a script such as the following are run concurrently, the
first child wine processes started by each of then run together, but in one of
the scripts that child doesn't fully exit until the _other_ script has
completely run and exited. (The Wine process terminates, but the pipeline
doesn't complete and so the script doesn't continue.)
A bash test-case to show this behaviour is as follows:
for iter in first second ; do echo "[$$] running $iter child wine" `date`; wine
sleep-long.exe 2>&1 | tee /dev/null; done; echo "[$$] done " `date`
The problem doesn't occur if either the redirection or pipe is removed, if I
run the scripts in separate Wine environments using $WINEPREFIX, or if I have
another long-lived Wine process which stays running throughout the entire
operation.
An example run with timing is attached.
The test Wine program used above, 'sleep-long', is the following tiny C program
(tested with Microsoft cl and Cygwin GCC with mingw):
#include <stdio.h>
#include <windows.h>
int main(){
printf("Started fake compiler, sleeping 8000ms\n");
Sleep(8000);
printf("Exiting fake compiler\n");
exit(0);
}
I've been able to reproduce this problem on several systems and Wine versions
(Debian Lenny with distro-packaged Wine 1.0.0-1, Debian Etch with Wine
1.0-rc1-1~bpo40+1 from Debian backports, Ubuntu Dapper with distro-packaged
Wine 0.9.9-0ubuntu2) but not on one other (Debian Etch with distro-packaged
Wine 0.9.25-2.1)

I also copied the Arial font files from Windows (arial.ttf, ariali.ttf,

I'm going to stop running d3d[89]/tests/visual under valgrind for now,

have a look at how to get valgrind and their drivers to play nice together.

The setup program for Windows Media Player 11 tries to validate Windows if the
version is set to XP, and this fails. There was talk some time ago about an
ntlm_auth patch that would allow the validation, but it fails for me even
though I have the correct version of Samba installed.
However, the installer does not run the Genuine check if the Windows version is
set to Vista. When run thus it does work, however; it tries to create an
instance of a wuapi.dll class, which is not registered in Wine. When I use a
native dll from XP and register it the console output changes saying no
instance could be created.
The installer then says no updates could be found.

Files for the test case
We made a test case to show that child windows for Java applications (written
in a class are not appearing) are problematic.
To start the test, you have to install Java on Wine (I tested with java1.5-10)
and start file in the /bin directory of the java installation directory.
What is expected (showing during tests on Windows XP):
There is a mainframe called "Using a JDesktopPane"
Then a row in the main body of the main frame called "Add"
Then a child window called "Internal frame"
Result in Wine:
Totally black screen with only the part with the word "Add" to be visible.
Through hovering the mouse over the black part, you can restore most parts of
your desktop to access other windows.
If you need the source code of any of the file, you just need to ask.

AFAIK, the Windows behavior for this menu item is to open the source code of

hope this would be an easy feature to add in. If implemented, this would be
very helpful for tracking down rendering bugs in apps that use the iexplore

HyperChem 8.0.6 Evaluation requires the user to enter a provided license code
in order to generate a locking code, which is sent via email to the authors for
a trial license key. However, a proper locking code (0-0) isn't generated, thus
prohibiting program usage.
Reproduce:
1. Download HyperChem 8.0.6.
2. Copy mfc40.dll from a Windows installation.
3. Launch the setup and pick "standalone," then "software-license."
4. Use the serial number provided on their website.
5. Launch chem.exe; it will ask you to launch the activator, which generates a

Memory error when trying to open the Form Designer
I installed under a clean Wine prefix.
I ran winetricks -q dotnet20 msxml6
I installed Visual C# 2005 Express from the .iso image. I always close the
Startup window when Visual C# opens right away to prevent the
When I try to create a new "Windows Application" project, and click on Form1.cs
to open the Designer, the form does not display and the designer is blank.
Choosing Designer from the menus displays the same, and even adding a new form
to the project has the same result.
Clicking on the blank area does update the Properties window with the details
of the Form.
Closing Visual C# and opening again, I'm now getting a popup error when
clicking on the Form1.cs to load the designer: "Attempted to read or write
protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."
I've attached a screenshot of this. In the output window on the bottom, the
error is listed as well as an MSBuild error, even though I didn't try to build
or debug. This also happens now if I try to create a new WindowsApplication
project from the template. I get the popup right away when the project loads,
without even clicking on the form. When exiting Visual C#, after the UI is
closed, an error dialog pops up telling me "Microsoft Visual C# has encountered
a problem and needs to close." I uncheck restart and click Don't Send. I've
also attached a screenshot.
Checking my system processes, I see that WindowsApplication1.exe is still
running under wine, even though I never started debug or compiled. If I kill
this and let wine stop, and then open VC# and try again, the process repeats.
It seems like the only time I didn't get any error loading the Form Designer
was the first run after install, but I still only had a blank white screen. I
also went through Tools->Options and when trying to view/set the Windows Forms
Designer options on the right hand side I get "An error occured loading this
property page." and nothing else.
I'll try the Windows trick of rebooting and see if that makes a difference.
Anyone encountered this before or know if I have to install any other
libraries?

Currently we have only a FIXME for this case. It seems to cause only a small
visual glitch - the panes' titles backgrounds are black. The attached patch can
be used to check that this is the problem. Of course, it is not a correct
solution of the problem.

Since Visual C++ Express 2005 installs, I figured I'd try the trial for
full-on Visual C++ 2005, available at the given url.
Sure enough, it took 30 minutes, but it installed!
Then I tried building a project. I tried both Chromium's net unittest
and a trivial old visual c++ 6 (?) project from codeguru,
http://www.codeguru.com/cpp/g-m/gdi/capturingimages/article.php/c6333/
In both cases, visual c++ 2005 complained during compile:
MSPDBSRV: fatal error: Unable to start server: server already exist
>From +relay, the commandline it's using to start mspdbsrv is
C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\\Common7\\ide\\mspdbsrv.exe -start
-spawn
And sure enough, running
wine mspdbsrv -start -spawn
in directory
C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\\Common\\ide\\
generates the same error message (and a remarkably short +relay log).

Summary: Half-life engine's software rendering is ridiculously
slow on Intel GMA 945
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.26
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: richardcavell(a)mail.com
When I play Half-Life on Wine in software rendering mode, the screen renders
really slowly. About one frame every five to ten seconds. What is actually
being displayed is graphically correct, it's just ridiculously slow.
While watching the screen, the top rasterline is updated to the new frame, then
the one below it, then the one below that, and so on, until the line being
updated reaches the bottom of the screen. It then starts on a new frame.
There is no tearing within the middle of a line. The lines are output at a
perfectly constant speed. If I increase the resolution, it is slower to update
an entire frame. My computer is easily able to render Duke Nukem 3D at fast
frame rate, so there has to be a bottleneck or bug somewhere. People who have
non-Intel graphics hardware don't get this problem.
I suspect that Wine is incorrectly waiting for VSync after outputting each
raster line.
The problem occurs also with any Half-Life engine derivative (Counter-Strike,
Condition Zero, etc). Half-Life is capable of rendering in OpenGL, software
rendering or Direct3D, selectable from a menu.
I'm on 64-bit Ubuntu Karmic with all current updates applied. Half-Life and
Steam have updated themselves. Intel video drivers are version 2.8.0. Wine
version 1.1.26. Xserver-xorg version 7.4. Second-generation MacBook using an
Intel GMA 945.
Jaunty uses version 2.6.3 of the Intel drivers, and Half-Life and its
derivatives are basically completely unuseable on those drivers - they're just
too buggy.
I'm happy to perform any experiments that people suggest. Running hl.exe from
console doesn't give any printf output, since the main Half-Life engine isn't
actually in that executable.

Sibelius 3 shows wrong tooltips in the Keypad window. Clearly these are not
"Save As" buttons and such. But somehow the topmost row of five buttons has
still the right tooltips.
Is it possible that the two windows (main & Keypad) would have separate string
resources with overlapping identifiers but Wine just uses the main window's
resources for both?
There was a demo version of the program, but it's not officially available
anymore, as the most recent version is Sibelius 5. However, a Sibelius 3 Demo
might be downloadable here (not tested):

The latest Full Tilt Poker runs normally and everything works. But when you try

never ends. This has two side effects. Firstly, the preferences you choose do
not get saved (as the program does not terminate the way it should (save user
options, etc)) and secondly, when you try to launch the program again, the
characters appear ugly and unreadable, and this is a known issue that gets
fixed by killing the first, existing process.

Finddupe has an option to generate a batch file that can be run later to create
hard links for the duplicate files it find, but these batch files don't work in
Wine:
wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\fsutil.exe"
The particular command it's using is this:
fsutil hardlink create "C:\test6\testfile_1.gif" "C:\test6\testfile.gif"
Copying over fsutil.exe from WinXP lets it work as expected (aside from the
native app producing corrupted output). Fsutil is documented here:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en…
A lot of these functions probably wouldn't translate to Wine well (setting NTFS
attributes, etc.) but "fsutil hardlink create" seems to do the same thing as
CreateHardLink...

The last version to successfully work with wine that I'm aware of is 1.3.0 beta
build 616.
Tests were done with wine v1.0 and v1.1.3.

Summary: DVD Flick 1.0.3.X freezes when adding a video file
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.9
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: protomank(a)gmail.com
DVD Flick is a very good open-source Windows app for creating DVDs. The 1.0.2.X
version works fine in Wine, but the new, 1.0.3 version have two problems:
- fonts are too small (if you install some extra windows fonts the problem
diminishes, but still not good)
- freeze when adding a video to the project.
Sadly, for #2, no message is seen in prompt (and I do not know how to use
winedbg, sorry), it just stops executing without any output for the user.
According to DVD Flick author, no changes in the video import were made, only
the ffmpeg version was upgraded.
(I'll try to put the old one over the new to test today).

Hello,
after getting past bug 16883 the next one...
Prerequisites:
---
1. clean WINEPREFIX
2. sh mywinetricks -q wmicore
3. sh winetricks -q dotnet20
4. download .NET 3.0 Framework installer from: http://download.microsoft.com
/download/4/d/a/4da3a5fa-ee6a-42b8-8bfa-ea5c4a458a7d/dotnetfx3setup.exe
(sha1sum:

5. export _SFX_CAB_SHUTDOWN_REQUEST=1 (workaround, see bug 9158)
6. wine ./dotnetfx3setup.exe
It might take a while until all required packages are downloaded using BITS.
Note: If you need to redo steps, backup the directory "dotnetfx304506.30" from
"c:\\windows\\temp" to a different location, remove ~/.wine, copy
"dotnetfx304506.30" again to "c:\\windows\\temp" to prevent BITS from
downloading over and over again.

The WCF installer still fails:

Oh joy, LSA again ...
There already exist other bugs falling into same problem domain, example: bug
16418
If developer resources are short maybe this could be part of some SoC project:
making transition from current approach towards LSA rpc interface and lsass
(and fleshing out stubs of course).
http://www.hsc.fr/ressources/articles/win_net_srv/msrpc_lsarpc.html
I fleshed the stub a bit just for proof and it gets the WCF installer further.

The "MsiNetAssemblySupport" property should be set in set_msi_assembly_prop()

Looking into "C:\\windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v3.0\\fusion.dll" path
there is no native fusion.dll.
Hence Wine's builtin fusion.dll is loaded by LoadLibraryExW().
The builtin fusion doesn't contain version resource so it fails.
This is a subtile problem: adding version resource to Wine's fusion might cause
problems because every .NET Framework might ship it's own version of fusion
which ought to override builtin fusion.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370325.aspx
Usually:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\fusion.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\fusion.dll
AFAIK .NET 3.0 and 3.5 don't bring their own fusion version (someone might
check a real Windows installation with these Frameworks present).
The problem is how dlls/msi/package.c:get_fusion_filename() works.
At the point where the installation fails the following registry data is
present at the location get_fusion_filename() reads:
--- snip ---
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup]

I don't know how Windows msi does MsiNetAssemblySupport.
Maybe a check for real existence of (native) fusion.dll to prevent false load
of "builtin" fusion is better.
If native fusion is not present in full path, that .NET Framework subkey data
(version) can't be used for MsiNetAssemblySupport property.
