save game in front of sniper
I'll attach a save game that puts you right in front of a sniper. Simply walk
forward, swap weapons with 'R', then zoom by holding right mouse button. The
scope will take over the screen, but hangs for a second or two before the scope
fills your screen.
Terminal shows:

after the slowdown shows:

Summary: Fallen Earth MMO : GL_APPLE_flush_buffer_range causes
performance drop on OSX
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.42
Platform: x86

hp?t=35062
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.6

This commit:
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=commit;h=a756caac0ca3dcd80019b5642…
Causes a performance drop in the Fallen Earth MMO under these conditions:
1. Macbook, Macbook Pro, IMac with ATI/NVIDIA, OSX 10.5.8 -> 10.6.3
2. Scaleform is rendering a swf element on the screen
OpenGl profiler shows that while scaleform is rendering a swf to the screen 65%
of OpenGL is spent in MapBufferRange. As soon as the scaleform rendering is
canceled performance returns to normal.
This is easy to reproduce in Fallen Earth which uses scaleform to render the
help UI. When that UI is open fps is 10-12 when that UI is closed fps is
20-30.
Reverting that commit causes performance to remain constant when scaleform is
rendering.
In Wine version 1.1.41 and 1.1.42 the performance drop is not quite as
noticeable but it is still present and performance is still better without this
commit.

Hi All,
Would you guys fix this for me?
Word Pro, Note Pad Plus, all think my default printer is my Okidata B4350. And
it is. But, all new documents default to A4 as the paper size and it is not.
It is "Letter". Wine is not picking up the default paper size from my printer.

Nexus TK (download from http://nexustk.com/, AppDB entry is
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=926) crashes
when editing a board post.
It is possible to type the post without problems. As far as I can tell, the
problem occurs when doing something other than continuing to type, or pasting
-- most recently, I attempted to hilight some text, and crash.
By "crash", I mean the game (running in a 1024x768 desktop window) stops
responding entirely, and the log seems to indicate that some process died.
Note: Nexus works flawlessly with version 0.9.40 -- it has no bugs that Nexus
itself doesn't when running under Windows, and, in fact, is often more stable
than on Windows. I'll add regression tests and logs soon...
The game is otherwise usable, as far as I can tell. For now, I will compose in
a separate window, and paste into Nexus.
Every version I have tried since 0.9.40 has had problems. I believe the game
would not even run until 0.9.62, and this bug does happen in 1.0-rc1. Stock
Ubuntu install from a repository.

Summary: Certain keyboard keys don't work in Wine when using
VNC
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2-rc6
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P1
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: WillWill56(a)gmail.com
Bug: While connected to a computer via VNC, certain keys that work perfectly
fine in native programs on the remote computer are not picked up in Wine
programs on the remote computer.
Example: Holding shift and pressing the keys 1234567890 in gedit produces
"!@#$%^&*()", but typing the same into Wine Notepad produces "12345678",
showing that the shift key and curved brackets are not getting from VNC to
Wine.
Speculation: Keys should be sent VNC Client --> VNC Server --> Wine, but
somewhere along the line the process is broken. But when keys are sent VNC
Client --> VNC Server --> Generic GNOME App it works fine.
Reproduction: The VNC Client is RealVNC on Windows XP SP3, and the VNC Server
is x11vnc on Ubuntu 10.04 (previously tried Ubuntu's built in VNC server, same
bug occured) (this may not matter, but try an Ubuntu -> Ubuntu VNC connection
and see if the bug occurs). Try holding shift and typing capital text, curved
brackets, symbols etc into a simple Wine app like Notepad running on the Ubuntu
computer, then try typing the same into a simple GNOME app like gedit.

Summary: explorer: Spaces in desktop title on CLI cause both
wrong window title and command
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.13
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: shacklein(a)gmail.com
When using the form:
$ wine explorer /desktop=Title,WxH program.exe
Title currently cannot contain spaces. Example:
$ wine explorer /desktop=My\ Program,800x600 myprogram.exe
This correctly detects the size 800x600 for the virtual desktop, but it sets
the title of the window to "My" and tries to run "Program" as the command line.
I've submitted a patch to wine-patches that fixes this problem (and afaik,
doesn't introduce any new ones), though I'm not sure if it's really "neat"
enough.
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2009-March/070776.html
So far, I've had no feedback about it. At the least, I'd like to be told why
it's not suitable for inclusion, or if there's any cleaning up I need to do to
it :)

OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED

With the Adobe Lightroom 2.3 demo, the menu bar titles (File, etc.) do not

however. Lightroom 2.3 can be downloaded from

I'm not sure where to go about tracing the issue down to, but I did notice the
following calls that show that it is calling DrawMenuBar().

Summary: Check support for application switching by keybord
shortcuts
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.19
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Markus.Elfring(a)web.de
I am used to the shortcut "Alt+Tab" with the effect of switching between
application windows. This is usually also supported in X sessions (like KDE or
GNOME). But it does not work if the game "Civilization 4" was started in full
screen mode.
How much has this behaviour got to do with an option "Managed windows using
X11"?

Summary: Wolfenstein (2009): mouse cursor remains onscreen
during FPS gameplay even after all menus are closed.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.28
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ben.r.xiao(a)gmail.com
In Wolfenstein (2009), browsing the intelligence reports or upgrading weapons
sometimes causes the mouse cursor to remain on screen even when the in-game
menus are closed. In other words, during FPS gameplay, the cursor sits right
where the crosshairs should be and does not disappear. Needless to say this is
quite distracting. This cursor bug seems to appear randomly, but always after
browsing an intelligence report or upgrading weapons. The only way to get rid
of the cursor is to restart the game. I'll post an attachment showing this bug
the next time I see it.

Patch in url fixes the loader on OpenBSD. Need to test on other OS's before
submitting to wine-patches. Review of the patch in the meantime is appreciated.

Nota Bene, on install, checks for AUTOEXEC.NT in system32. If it doesn't find
it, it restores its own copy, but we should have our own copy. Shouldn't take
much to implement.
