I was able to use PartyPoker's client with wine-1.1.44 on gentoo. It had two
needs:
1. winetricks ie6
2. start with wine /path/to/PartyGaming.exe -P=PartyPoker
The 'err:ole:CoUninitialize Mismatched CoUninitialize' error mentioned before
in this issue is only emerged when I tried to start without the '-P=PartyPoker'
flag. This caused me a lot of headache too to figure it out:)
However as of today PartyPoker is updated the client which cannot run anymore
after an otherwise clean update procedure (apart that it couldn't update itself
so I needed to download the new installer .exe manually).
I'll attach the log recorded during the failing startup.
After diffing the old and new PartyGaming directories, I think PartyGaming has
been migrated internally to use Visual C++ 2008. So I ran winetricks vcrun2008,
but it didn't helped.
Oh, I tried this all with wine-1.2 on Ubuntu 10.4, but I think it will be the
same on my home machine which runs gentoo..:(

Hello,
in a project i'm trying to use Maxima through wine.
I've discovered that it works with an old version (of wine) but not a recent
one !
So I did a regression test and ended on commit :
09712593c8496be5e952b7316099f9eed5043203
Logs attached show the expected output, and the trace of a failing version.
I've used Maxima Windows installer from there :
http://sourceforge.net/projects/maxima/files/
version 5.17.1 for some reason, but I've tried with few others versions without
any differences !
Somewhere in the installation directory, you can find a maxima.exe binary, just
call it.
Please ask if you need more details...

madscientist, that patch did not fix those problems. The behaviour is
practically identical to unpatched wine.

yes, would be better if you tested it on a clean source. it should fix most of
the bugs you described.

Screenshots of garena in wine and in windows
Garena can be downloaded from : http://www.garena.com/
Account is needed to login, but registration is free so no problem there.
The problem is Garena has some custom game selection menu, witch isn't drawn
correctly in wine. See screen shots for details.
Games can be selected by scrolling with mouse wheel, so its not that big of a
problem. Strangely mouse wheel doesn't scroll game menu in windows like it does
in wine.
How to reproduce: Easy!
1. Start Garena
2. Login
3. Game menu is wrong.

I applied the Xi2 patch with xorg bug workaround by Vitaliy Margolen to wine
1.3.0 source (via edited gentoo ebuild). It applied OK.
In Tomb Raider: Anniversary (wine desktop), the mouse can still leave the
window and in addition, the mouse movement is totally crazy - as if the
sensitivity was super high, but I couldn't look up or down properly anymore,
and the view would just spin like crazy (always in the same direction) and
jitter quickly on top of that. Without this patch, the game works fine, just
the mouse leaves the window sometimes on really fast moves.
TRA without winedesktop, in fullscreen (I didn't find out how to run this game
windowed, so I basically NEED wine desktop to keep the resolution to something
my graphics card is happy with), still has the weird mouse issue. Lara keeps
spinning counterclockwise, no matter in which direction I move the mouse.
Same problem with TR: Legend (same engine).
In Far Cry (wine desktop), the X cursor is outside the window during the menu;
most of the menu doesn't work because of this. I was unable to load a saved
game or even start a new game using the menu, so could not test ingame. I get a
lot of:
fixme:dinput:SysMouseAImpl_Acquire Clipping cursor to (240,217)-(1046,842)
Far Cry without wine desktop, in windowed mode, only allows me to use the menu
when I make sure the X cursor is *also* in the window... during the game, when
I turn, of course the x cursor leaves the window, and pressing Fire (mouse1)
focuses the underlying window and the FarCry window goes to the back. Not
really playable like this; movement in game is normal though.
A GL Quake derivative (no wine desktop) worked OK with the patched wine.
Baldur's Gate II (wine desktop) still can't scroll - the X cursor leaves the
window.
BG II run without wine desktop, in windowed mode, does scroll - x cursor still
leaves the window, but wine cursor doesn't, and the game scrolls properly.
Looks like "we're getting there". Problems with games that are run in wine
desktop though; Far Cry should ignore the X cursor for its menu input and for
actions in game; TR:A / TR:L have continuous spinning view problem.

I'm an AppDB admin, so, e.g., when I submit a new bug link, it appears
instantly, not needing confirmation by maintainer/admin. If I apply to be a
maintainer of an application and choose submit (with no explanation), it
returns to the main page without making me a maintainer. If I put anything in
it (even just 'a'), I am made a maintainer.
Minor, but slightly annoying. May only want to enable NULL inputs for admin's
only, or alternatively, return an error saying it must not be empty.

I'm guessing this was a design decision to limit windows DoS malware to use
wine as a platform.
Since users are told to never ever ever run wine as root, this message is quite
confusing.

Excerpt from output with WINEDEBUG=font
I just updated Qimage (http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage) to version 2009.209
and the UI displays with the wrong font. For some reason the Wine font engine
thinks that Arial Black is a better match for the requested font than Arial,
which is what the app asks for and what it gets with Windows.
If I physically delete the ariblk.ttf file, it will use Arial as desired.
It did this with the 1.1.14 version in my distro (Fedora 9 64-bit) and also
with 1.1.18 freshly compiled from source.
