It runs ok in wine but doesn't see any traffic. Steps to reproduce problem: 1) Download and install orbit downloader 2) Make sure you have internet explorer installed 3) Run Grab.exe from orbit downloader install or from the Tools menu of Orbit Downloader 4) Open http://videolectures.net/gbr07_bunke_aqpa/ in IE and play video which amazingly does work in wine :) Nothing is captured by Grab. This is the same with videos from youtube for example. The only errors produced by Grab are err:listview:LISTVIEW_WindowProc unknown msg 204e wp=000003e8 lp=0034c384 I am on ubuntu 7.10 with wine 0.9.58. This occurs reproducibly whenever a TV is turned on in the game. This is repeatedly printed on the terminal, some dozens of times, and I imagine it's relevant: fixme:d3d_surface:fb_copy_to_texture_direct Doing a pixel by pixel copy from the framebuffer to a texture, expect major performance issues I haven't changed the OffscreenRenderingMode setting. In fact, the Direct3D subdirectory in Wine doesn't even exist. So it should be using the default for this, if that's relevant. I don't *recall* changing any registry keys at all for this prefix. I'm using wine-1.1.2-307-g520ab5c from git, compiled in the standard fashion, on Ubuntu Hardy. I'm running the game with the command "padsp wine steam.exe -applaunch 2600" from the Steam directory (padsp so that sound works with PulseAudio). No other programs are installed in the prefix, only Steam and Vampire. I'm using a GeForce 7950 GT with proprietary driver version 173.14.12. I have attached several different output files from wine and have listed the installed options in the first line of each file. I was not able to find a combination that allowed the install to finish. Adding the winetricks allowed the install to proceed a little farther where it freezes. The best configuration I was able to find was outputted to wine1.1.6-winetricks4.log and used dotnet20, vb6run, vcrun6, vcrun2003, vcrun2005, wsh56. I am relatively new to linux. This was tested on the following system: Asus A8N-SLI-Deluxe Amd Athlon X2 3800 1.5 GB Kingston DDR Areca 1210 + several hd's Nvidia 6600 GT 128 MB (compiz / beryl not enabled, using Nvidia driver 169.12 ) I first downloaded and compiled wine 0.9.60 which didn't work. Then i grabbed the latest cvs and recompiled, didn't work either. This bug-submit covers the CVS version. Installed the game by mounting both iso's and -=> "wine autorun.exe" on the first cd. When the installer asks for the next cd, change the driveletter to your second wine mount (F:\ in my case, I HAD to use the keyboard). The in game menu's were functioning ok (mostly). Both gameplay and FPS were perfect. Too bad the game is only playable for a few seconds (quits when one enters combat). ==== What does not work: Playing the game for more than a few seconds. QT is critical to this program's function, so almost the first thing it does is try to kick off the QT installer; and this fails. Using the native MSI DLLs doesn't work either, as these work only under Win98, and this version of QuickTime only works with Win2K or above (you get a dialog complaining if the version is set too low). It appears that the installer is trying to run VBScript or something of that nature without first installing VBScript, and I can't figure out how to install that (I grabbed scripten.exe from MS, but it insists that it can't find anywhere to install itself and I haven't figured out why yet). (Output from qt installation run with DEBUG=msi attached.) If a ends normally repeat from step 3. Within less than 30 trials, a's sound will be interrupted on my single core Linux box, wither either ALSA or OSS, with or without PulseAudio in Ubuntu Intrepid. When this happens, try 5. status a mode => "playing" 6. stop a => hangs 7. ^C It seems more likely to happen after a has finished playing once. I uninstalled it and the installer said me to launch the installer again because it fails. I launched it again and it works ! With default dpi (96) it is difficult (because it's to small) to read text in "Properties Window" which exists as a toolbar in "AutoCAD 2008" and "AutoCAD Mechanical 2008". If I try to increase dpi through winecfg, text in "Properties Window" is even harder to read, it gets smaller but fonts in other parts of the application are bigger. I attached image how "Properties Window" should looks like on AutoCAD 2007 example running on Windows and how it looks in Wine with AutoCAD 2008. First the mouse pointer moves somewhere else, but after some time(when I continue moving the mouse left), the cursor moves right, up and then left. I'm using a simple USB-mouse. I've got a few registry keys that contain Japanese signs (in values). Regedit can't export those keys correctly, when I run in my own locale (pl_PL.UTF-8). They also fail to be displayed then. (The key names are ASCII, the values are not). But when I run as LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8, something strange happens, while regkey can be exported (as CP932, which sucks a bit, IMHO), it can't be viewed. The treeview of the key shows a plus beside it, but the key values are not shown and clicking that plus doesn't expand the subkey (in my standard locale, at least subkey got expanded). I have just started using Ubuntu 8.04 in an experiment to run two apps. that I use often. One is an Firebird db for asset management (work) and the other is a Cad/Cam program (play). It took a while but I got the Firebird to run in wine (1.1.10). I am having issues with the cad program called eCabinets. The mfg for the program does not support their software outside of windows 2000 or XP. The install is interupted before it finishes (when copying files). I'm writing cross-compilable programs on linux that should also run on Win32, and I do all my tests on wine. It took me a while to find out why people trying to use this program on real windows boxes had troubles accessing network. The expected behaviour for Winsock2 functions is to fail, unless WSAStartup() was called.
