I think the pft9f95~tmp installer was for Adobe. I tried logging the install, and I did succeed, but +relay is 1 gigabyte *compressed*. All it's doing at the end is lots of variant twiddling and waiting. In The Neverhood (1.0), when audio is enabled videos will not play or play very slowly and the game uses almost 100% of the CPU. If audio is disabled or muted the game plays just fine as do videos. I'll follow this up with a post linking to the old bug and later some logs etc. (posting from cellular) The Neverhood works best in Windows 95 mode and I am using the ALSA sound module. I also tried to install through wine, but, despite reports online that i've seen, it fails with "err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled Exception Code c000005 flags 0 addr (nil)". I'm on Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid, and tried 1.0.1 (old stable), the default version in the repositories (i don't remember what that was), and the beta directly from wine betas, 1.1.44. Since it kept crashing, i decided to copy over the installation from windows to ubuntu. winecfg sets everything up fine (even sound... *yay*), and when i start lol.launcher.exe it fails with the attached ugly log, and a nice little window saying something along the lines of "post a bug if this doesn't happen in 'doze". I then installed Rosetta Stone v3.4.5 and used it for several days without issue. After the repository updated Wine to 1.2-rc1, Rosetta Stone started crashing. The program starts normally, and begins lessons normally; however, the program eventually freezes during lessons and then crashes with Rosetta Stone putting up an error just before exiting. This behavior was consistent. I fixed the problem by removing the WineHQ repository from sources.list, by running sudo aptitude purge wine and by running sudo apt-get install wine to install the standard Ubuntu version of Wine, which is 1.1.42-0ubuntu4. However, installing the game still does not work. The error messages are attached.
