I installed wine gecko but the screen is just blank. This has been true in the last several versions of wine. I am using ubuntu hardy on an amd xp machine with a asus mother board and a 2gig processor I have 1 gig of ram and a nvidia g4 video card with 120megs of video ram. To repeat behavior: open Dragon NaturallySpeaking. open Notepad Within NatSpeak, open the DictationBox and dictate into it. The text appears in the DictationBox. Say "Transfer that" to transfer text to Notepad. Repeat about ten times. It doesn't seem to matter if I close and re-open Dictation Box a lot, or if I keep it open until I have dictated a lot of text. Under windows it is masked. This is a proprietary program, but the download is free and you don't need a login to test this. Open these dialogs: View, Shading, Lighting, Show, Renderer, Panels -> usually it takes some time before dialog disappear -> dialogs hangs usually when more dialogs are visible or if some of the sub-dialogs is shown. For starting the installer various libraries need to be installed. I did that using winetricks from 2008-08-25: winetricks msxml3 jet40 mdac28 winxp The installation fails with a message-box saying "Systemprüfung konnte nicht erfolgreich abgeschlossen werden" ("The system-check could not be completed sucessfully. Aborting installation") [2]. Unfortunately there is now demo-version available for download (as far as I know) but you can order a 4-week-trial on DVD [3]. I append the output of wine using (WINEDEBUG=+relay,+msgbox) and the following debug parameters in user.reg: [Software\\Wine\\Debug] 1221939180 "RelayExclude"="ntdll.RtlEnterCriticalSection;ntdll.RtlLeaveCriticalSection;kernel32.94;kernel32.95;kernel32.96;kernel32.97;kernel32.98;RtlEnterCriticalSect$ "RelayFromExclude"="winex11.drv;user32;gdi32;advapi32;kernel32" I extracted a 1000-line section around the msgbox using tail and head. Hope the log is helpful.
