Summary: Atari Scrabble Online fails to install (regression)

Wine 1.1.15 +msi
Atari Scrabble Online fails to install. The culprit seems to be:
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action
L"DX9_Launcher.A545835B_7768_4D96_A5BC_930949616C2D" returned 1603
At this point the installer attempts to start the DirectX9 installer, whether
it is already installed or not. There therefore is no workaround.
Tested in Wine 1.1.11 and 1.1.15 and bug exists. Tested in Wine 1.0 and bug
does not exist.

Summary: Mono apps can't find System.Windows.Forms

Console output attempting to run OrbMT
Orb Modem Tools is a Mono app that lets you monitor how your DSL modem is
doing, and various statistics about your connection.
However, it doesn't run properly on Linux using native mono, so I attempted to
run it in Wine.
Using a clean wineprefix with Mono 2.10 installed and .NET 2.0, the app dies
with:
Unhandled Exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or
assembly 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. Exception from
HRESULT: 0x80070002
File name: 'System.Windows.Forms, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089'
at ?.Main()
A full console output is attached.
To replicate, OrbMT can be downloaded from
http://blog.orbmu2k.de/tools/orbmt-modem-tool-sidebar-gadget ('OrbMT Modem Tool
Version 3.42' link at the bottom).
Additionally, another similar app called the SpeedTouch ModemTool exhibits the
exact same failure, and can be considered an alternate test case. It can be
downloaded at http://modemtool.de/download.html (STMTv0.10.zip).

After a discussion on #winehackers, it was decided the bug is still valid, for
the use case of someone on 32-bit without dosbox installed that uses wine's
vm86 support.

When running DiRT 3 nothing happens and the process quits.
This is the output when running the executable:
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000000 at address (nil)

I did a relay log to find the cause but I'm not experienced enough to find it.
The relay log is attached in the hope someone will find the problem.

I'm marking this INVALID, please file individual bugs for individual issues.
I'd also encourage people that have issues with fglrx to give the r300g or
r600g drivers a try. At the very least those actually pass the Wine D3D tests.

Summary: Wine should use MS-DOS (8.3) file names when
interacting with Dosbox
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.15
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: dos
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: spammis(a)spam.la
This depends on bug 26422.
Let's assume that the current directory is "C:\Program Files"
(~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files). I type "wine dosprog" where "dosprog" is some
MS-DOS program. Wine starts Dosbox and runs the following commands:
mount c /home/username/.wine/dosdevices/c:
mount d /home/username/.wine/dosdevices/d:
C:
cd \Program Files
C:\Program Files\dosprog.exe
exit
Dosbox does not recognise long file names (Program Files); Dosbox requires
short names (PROGRA~1). The "cd" call and the program call will both fail
because of this.
