Image showing the problem
Steps to reproduce:
1) Start Word 2007
2) Insert->Equation
Try to insert "less than" symbol by clicking on its center. Symbol will get
bigger as you hover over it but when you click on it, it won't be inserted in
the page.
To insert symbol you have to click on it's border like I showed in attachment
(lower image).
On upper image in attachment I also showed situation where symbol should be
inserted but it isn't.

See bug #21609. A purported fix for this bug was committed to the source tree
as commit 258d42982cf526b3d9c59ccb522b27db3f519541, and included in release
1.2-rc4.
However, I am experiencing the same issue (no sound effects with the exception
of dialogue) as named in that bug report with a clean build of 1.2-rc4. Not
surprisingly, regression testing leads back to the same bad commit:

as does horizontal scrolling in all other windows. The only workaround is to
Zoom out and/or enlarge the size of the "problem" window so all text is

If using the advanced search in Foxit Reader 3.0 build 1506 the sidebar window
which appears when using the "advanced search" mode isn't accessible.
It is possible to do a search within the document, but you cannot click the
displayed results and therefore you cannot jump to the location the word was
found. Also it is not possible for longer search results to scroll in
horizontal direction despite there is a scrollbar.
The only fields that are working are the search entry field, the search button
and the close button (cross in the upper right corner). The fact that you
cannot access the search results makes this part of the program totally
unusable.

When a program calls GetThreadSelectorEntry after creating a process, it fails
in Wine (returns FALSE and sets lasterror to 5), but succeeds in Windows. This
is a problem for a program I made which needs this function to work, so I've
boiled it down to a tiny test case which still fails in the same way, and is

Screenshots
When I delete text under Scientific Workplace, the end of the line is not
treated correctly. Was is most evident is that the last character(s) is(are)
not canceled.
I attach a vertical concatenation of 3 screenshots:
the first is the state before hitting backspace: I typed "abcdefghijkl" and
added an inline image,
the second is after hitting backspace (I cancel the "g"); notice how the last
"kl" are not correctly canceled and the image is not moved to the left
and the third is how it should have looked.
No error message is displayed while hitting backspace (it complains about IME
all the time but I think it's no big deal).
I have seen this problem at least in versions 1.0.1 (under Debian testing,
Ubuntu hardy and intrepid, both 32 and 64 bits) and 1.0.13 (Debian testing 64
bits). The situation is even worse under Ubuntu intrepid (32 bits OS, Wine
v1.0.1) as text disappears as soon as it is typed (Esc redisplays it briefly).
I can live with the image (visible at the end of the line) not correctly
positioned after backspace (it seldom occurs), but the last character not
canceled is a real (visual) pain.
I can test anything you wish and I understand programming/debugging.
Thank you for any help.

Approach has extra set of "caption buttons" and "Control boxes"
Hi All,
I am am the OP on 15088. Now that I can actually get into Approach, I have
been using it all day. I have five bugs to report. (I am presuming you want
them on different reports.) I am running the native msvcrt.
sh -c "cd /home/wine/drive_c/lotus/approach; WINEDEBUG=+loaddll
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=msvcrt=n /usr/local/bin/wine ./approach.exe"
Bug number five: when Approach opens a database, it has its own set of windows
inside the main Approach window. This allows you to tile, etc. several
databases inside the main Approach window. To do this, Approach has a second
"title bar" with a second set of "caption buttons" and "Control box". Under
Wine, this second set of "caption buttons" and "Control boxes" has a duplicate
set.
This causes confusion. I have circled what I am talking about in the
attachment.
To reproduce:
1) open Approach with the native msvcrt
2) open a database
Here is a sample database to play with:

Missing file names in Windows pull down
Hi All,
Would you guys fix this for me?
I am using Lotus Word Pro N9.8.0208.1200. When you open two files (documents)
from the command line (the jpeg I have attached), then go to the "Window" pull
down to select which file to bring into focus, the file names are missing. If
you start Word Pro, then use File, Open to select two files, one at a time, the
second file does not show.

wine wordpad
2. Minimize the window
3. Restore the window
Afterwards the window will have focus but the caret will not be shown.
I tested this on KDE 3.5.9 and Gnome 2.22.2 with the same bug occurring on
both.
I tested wordpad in Windows XP SP3, and there was no issue there.
I tested with WINEDLLOVERRIDES="riched20=n" and the bug occurred.
>From this I believe that it isn't a wordpad, or richedit issue.
I added some MESSAGE statements to find the sequence of events that cause the
cursor not to be shown, and this is what I found.
1. After the window is minimized WM_KILLFOCUS is sent to the richedit control
as expected.
2. After the window is restored, WM_SETFOCUS is sent as expected, then another
WM_KILLFOCUS is incorrectly sent which will cause the caret to be hidden and
destroyed.

There is apparently no numerical screenshot limit per app version. On many an
occasion logging into the AppDB can have over a hundred screenshots waiting,
and most of the time it'll be one user that feels it necessary to submit thirty
or so screenshots of his Call of Duty character standing in different angles.
Firstly, it is unnecessary to have so many screenshots for one version of any
app, ten should be more than enough to get an idea and the AppDB shouldn't be a
place for people to submit galleries of their wonderful death match victories.
Secondly, adding or rejecting each screenshot one by one takes a ridiculous
amount of time for the poor admin/maintainer that gets stuck with the task.
If the number of screenshots were limited, a message could be shown to let the
user know that the limit has been reached, and to encourage them to become an
app maintainer if they wish to change the screenshots. This would save us a
lot of time!

Using the functions SetGraphicsMode and (Set|Modify)WorldTransform, it is
possible to define an arbitrary matrix to transform all points as things are
drawn to device contexts. Using this matrix, it should be possible to apply
arbitrary rotation/shear effects. Thus, rectangles drawn on the hdc can be
transformed into arbitrary parallelograms.
This only works on systems where GM_ADVANCED is supported (NT but not 9x,
according to MSDN).
I have written a test program that demonstrates this on Windows. On Wine, it
can only draw rectangles.

In commit wine-1.1.21-63-g5d31eb9 AJ changed the definition of C_ASSERT (in
include/winnt.h) to make it compatible with newer versions of GCC.
Roughly, the change was:
-#define C_ASSERT(e) extern char __C_ASSERT__[(e)?1:-1] __attribute__((unused))
+#define C_ASSERT(e) extern void __C_ASSERT__(int [(e)?1:-1])
Unfortunately, in GCC 4.4.3, the new definition of C_ASSERT doesn't fail when
given a non-constant expression. E.g.:
C_ASSERT(rand() == -1); /* ignored */
I think this is because GCC (as per C99) is treating the parameter of
__C_ASSERT__ as a VLA (variable length array), and so its type is equivalent to
int[*].

Mindmap without showing text
This application runs well, but they do not draw text correctly or do not draw
text at all. See the screenshots.
The applications are fast enough to be usable. The strange thing is that in
CrossOver 9.0 that is wine 1.1.34 based. It draws correctly but it is to slow.
I think that could be one of two problems:
* Font engine, due to CrossOver and wine have different ones.
* DIB Engine, maybe the dib engine was changed in recent wine versions and in
CrossOver don't.
Anyone can help me to do further tests in order to this issue be fixed?

Hi All,
When first opening Deep Burner 1.9, you are presenter with a dialog box asking

Problem: in the lower right corner of this window, there are three buttons:

the problem by sizing the lower right corner of the screen: smaller or larger,
the the buttons magically reappear.

Airport Inc. is an airport management simulation game. According to Wikipedia,
it was marketed as Airport Tycoon outside Europe:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airport_Tycoon
There is a problem with the game window size when Wine is in virtual desktop
mode.
The game can be set to run in full-screen or windowed mode. Running under
Windows, in windowed mode the game window inner size (excluding window
decorations) is 640x480 pixels. So the overall window size is slightly larger.
Running in Wine with virtual desktop mode enabled, the overall window size is
640x480 pixels. This causes some rendering to be cut off at the bottom of the
window. Also notice the band at the top. It seems all rendering is shifted
down, meaning more is cut off at the bottom than would otherwise be the case.
See the attached screenshots. (There are some text/graphics rendering problems
which are the subject of bug 14497.)
When virtual desktop mode is disabled, things are better. The game window
opens, initially without any decorations visible (strange!). The window's
contents are still rendered too low, offset vertically. However, If I activate
another window, then click in the game window, the X window manager decorations
appear, and the rendering is no longer offset. (Testing using Xubuntu 9.10
which uses xfwm4 window manager.)

Summary: Blood 2: The Chosen Launcher audio bug
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.55.
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: directx-dsound
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
CC: jb.faq(a)gmx.de
Hi there,
I noticed another bug in the game "Blood 2: The Chosen", this time it's both
affecting the launcher application and the game engine. Something to this
difference:
- We have Blood2.exe in the game directory which is the main game launcher
which enables the user to select the renderer type, resolution and some
advanced settings concerning the graphics card.
- Then we have Client.exe which is the main game engine client. This one is
started by the launcher supplying some parameters like the game resources files
which the engine should use (so you can easily extend the game with additional
resource packages)
Currently tested version:
Blood 2 version 2.0
Now the problem:
- When starting the launcher it plays back some audio sample, there are like 5
audio samples which it can play (gunshot, scream, etc. - your know what I
mean).
- The samples are rather short and if the user waits for them to end the game
can be launched without problem (playing the game is another story)
- If the user does NOT wait for the sample to end and starts the game (by
clicking on the launch button) before it has ended the game engine won't
produce any sound, crash or mention that it couldn't initialize the audio
driver.
The results when launching too early are dependent on the audio setup of the
system. By audio setup I mean:
- Which audio driver is selected in the launcher option menu (I'm going to
supply a list)
- Is the direct use of the audio hardware enabled in wine?
List of Blood 2 (LithTech engine) audio drivers:
- Miles 2D Stereo Positional Audio
- Microsoft DirectSound3D software emulation
- RSX 3D Audio from RAD Game Tools
- No Sound (quite uninteresting)
That's the list that appears when doing audio driver detect through the
launcher.
Results (with direct HW audio access):
- When using "Miles 2D" the audio produced by the launcher hangs and repeats.
Sounds like the sample cache is repeated all the time. The game does start but
does not enable sound and displays the following warning message:
"The 3D sound provider is invalid"
The game engine does seem to disable sound now completly and continues.
- When using "MS DS3D soft emulation" the same as with "Miles 2D" happens, also
the same warning message
- "RSX" -> same results
Results (with non-direct HW access):
Getting the same results but the sound mutes (instead of hanging and
repeating). This applies to all available B2 audio drivers.
Another interesting thing:
Blood 2 version 2.0 (I'm not sure for other versions) has six different audio
drivers:
- Mssa3d.m3d: Aureal 3D (?)
- Mssds3dh.m3d: DirectSound3D Hardware (?)
- Mssds3ds.m3d: DirectSound3D Software Emulation
- Msseax.m3d: EAX (?)
- Mssfast.m3d: Miles 2D Stereo (?)
- Mssrsx.m3d: RSX 3D Audio
(MSS = Miles Sound System ??)
The reason for the ? are that the three other drivers don't appear in the
config menu. And I'm not quite sure why "Mssfast.m3d" should be the "Miles 2D
Stereo" driver.
So the engine (?) or the code that is accessed through the launcher only
detects three drivers. I'm especially worried since it won't detect DS3D
Hardware support.
Now another interesting thing is that when removing all sound option stuff from
the autoexec.cfg (the main configuration file the engine uses) another warning
message appears when doing an early-start of the client.exe.
I suspect that the engine uses DS3D hardware support when not been configured
properly.
I didn't succeed in crashing any application (launcher or engine) with version
2.0, but I'm still trying and I'm also going to step back to version 1.0 to
check if the crashes were appearing there.
Thanks,
Tobias

d8827274480b0391ad200478b2ebe26a2658166d BeltBall v102.exe
Runs great on Vista.
It installs fine; to run it, to get past bug 21790 by doing
'winetricks vcrun2005'.
The next problem is a crash related to
d3dx9_36.D3DXAssembleShaderFromResourceW,
roughly bug 12020. Work around this with 'winetricks d3dx9'.
The game then starts, but if you let it try to use full screen
mode, it changes video mode and then seems to try to use a tiny
rectangle at the upper left of the screen as its display area;
the rectangle is all black. (The other demo game I tried from that
site suffers from the same problem.)
This was with Ubuntu Jaunty; lspci reports
02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GeForce 8500 GT (rev a1)
and "Hardware Drivers" reports it's using the latest NVidia driver, 180.

This is the same problem as Bug 2247, so this has been ongoing for years.
The appdb shows this app to be gold, but this simply doesn't work for me no
matter what I try, and the HOWTO workarounds don't seem related to the problem.
Tried a NoCD but this made no difference.

Upon startup, Lego Racers crashes when the "Lego Media" avi is supposed to be
played. This does not occur with the demo. I tested this with a vanilla .wine
folder, so there has been no chance for a native quartz.dll file to mess up the
registry.
I believe this is a regression, probably to be blamed on Maarten Lankhorst's
recent quartz improvements. :P
I don't have the resources to perform a regression test, nor did I test this
game with the previous version, so I don't know if the app broke then or now.

Hi All,
I have to use Wine to burn DVD's as the native Linux burning software destroys
my hard drive. Seriously. Twice. If I was not been extremely adapt at
backup, I could have lost my business! See:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=468624https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=446086
Needless to say, I would appreciate this being worked on
When first opening Deep Burner 1.9, you are presenter with a dialog box asking
you what you want to do. If you select "Create data CD/DVD", it open the Data
window.
Problem: when adding files to the layout, you can only select one at a time to
get them to show up on the dialog. If you <Ctrl><Click> on multiple files, you
get nothing.
And they are not hiding either. I tried burning a DVD after multiple selects
that did not show up and I got a blank DVD.
The workaround is to do them one at a time. (A real pain in the neck.)
[the free] Deep Burner can be downloaded from:
http://www.deepburner.com/?r=download
Many thanks,
-T

The next problem is that full-screen mode doesn't work (bug 21791).
Work around this by telling the game to run in a window.
Let the game start, then quit. It will crash after shutting down.
This affects all the demo games at that site, not just this one,
but the reported error seems to vary by game.
+relay is really slow, so I had to use

to get a log of the end. (This was arrived at by starting the game,
quitting after ten seconds, analyzing the log with
tail -n 10000 log | grep Call|sed 's/(.*//;s/.*Cal| sort | uniq -c | sort -n |
awk '$1 > 200 {print $2}' | tr '\012' ';' && echo ""
adding that to the registry key, and repeating until the game ran
fast enough.)
According to the log I got, the game shuts down and all the dlls
(including ntdll) detach... then for some reason the game tries
to start again, and crashes very quickly.

Assuming you've got a computer A with the following files:
- use_mingw_dll.exe
- MinGW_DLL.dll
'use_mingw_dll.exe' was compiled to use 'mingw_dll.dll' all in lower case.
(file sources/ build script in the attachment)
You can run Wine locally on computer A with 'use_mingw_dll.exe'. Wine is clever
enough to load all the dll that the app needs even if the dll case may vary and
even if the local file system is case sensitive.
Computer A as a samba share defined to export those two files.
(smb.conf share definition in the attachment).
Now we introduce computer B, it mounts this share to mnt:
$ mount -t cifs -o username=mylogin //serverip/testdll mnt
If you try to launch 'use_mingw_dll.exe' it will failed as Wine behave now with
case sensitivity:
$wine mnt/use_mingw_dll.exe
err:module:import_dll Library mingw_dll.dll (which is needed by
L"Z:\\home\\mylogin\\tmp\\testdll\\mnt\\use_mingw_dll.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for
L"Z:\\home\\mylogin\\tmp\\testdll\\mnt\\use_mingw_dll.exe" failed, status
c0000135
Whereas 'ls' command recognizes correctly the dll with no case sensitivity:
$ ls mnt/mingw_dll.dll
mnt/mingw_dll.dll
$ ls mnt/mingw_DLL.dll
mnt/mingw_DLL.dll
$ls mnt/MiNgW_DlL.DlL
mnt/MiNgW_DlL.DlL
I have noticed this behavior on at least 3 different win32 apps and on the toy
example in the attachment.
(I'm on ubuntu intrepid ibex, samba 3.2 wine 1.1.16)
Strangely, if I put "case sensitive=yes" on the definition of the samba share,
Wine will work. Nevertheless, you'd better not set this option on yes when real
windows computer access the share. "unix extensions = no" option do nothing.

I have just been updating SIV (http://rh-software.com/) to use Split Buttons
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa511453.aspx) on Windows Vista and
later systems. When I tested on Wine 1.1.29, after setting the Windows Version
to Vista, all of my calls DialogBoxIndirectParam() calls started failing and I
guessed was down to Wine not supporting these. I then searched the source for
BS_SPLITBUTTON and BS_DEFSPLITBUTTON neither of which are defined which I feel
confirms this.
Please can the addition of Split Button support be added to the list of planned
enhancements.
I have currently worked around this by not using then on Wine, even when it
announces itself as Windows Vista. I have also added a -SPLIT command line
qualifier to force their use and am happy to made a SIV 4.02 Beta release
available for testing should support be added before I actually release 4.02.

The first frames are ok, but then the game gets a little bit brighter and

the transparency of the mousecourser. Sorry that I can't give you detailed
information about this Problem.
I Attach every thing i found out.
PS: Now i recogniced that the coursor is drawen 2 or more times to the screen.
Or the Screen is not refreshed. And the coursor background is not realey

When playing The Sims 3, your figures, objects walls, floors, cars, grass and
plants go either Black or have abnormal textures.
I have no idea what to post in the attachment, if you could please direct me to
what I have to then I will do so.
The only way to fix this is to set your texture details to the lowest possible,
though my Graphics card (GeForce 8500 GT) should be able to support highest
possible details, as it did on Windows.
Here is an example of what someone posted:
http://i43.tinypic.com/2mpwiuh.png
The couch appears to have some kind of outfit design on it.
Also, Shaders 2.0 don't work (in-game known as advanced rendering).
Apparently this is due to memory leaks, though when I applied memory leak
patches I still got the same results. (Which is
bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20484
and bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=20483 - applied in that order).

Note that Direct3D mode is the default for this game, but can be turned off
through the included configuration app aow2Setup.exe. However, when Direct3D
mode is not enabled, some graphical effects are disabled.
Multiple issues with Direct3D mode in Age of Wonders 2 demo; I'm not really
sure how related these are, but I'll put them together, I guess, since I'm not
sure separate bugs would be useful without any real idea of what is causing
these effects:
1. In-game repainting speed is unusably slow. (To get in-game quickly, press
the "Tutorial" button.)
2. There are graphical glitches in-game: for one very obvious example, use the
scroll wheel to change the zoom level, and all the UI on the bottom gets
painted over.
3. The "buy now" screen (accessible by clicking "Quit" on the main menu)
flickers severely.
I'm using Wine 0.9.50 on Ubuntu 7.10; I have an Intel Core Duo and and
ATI Mobility X1400, and I'm using the version of fglrx that comes with
Ubuntu.

Here are the steps to reproduce the error:
1. Install the Oracle Instant Client for Windows 32-bit from:
http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/instantclient/112010/instantclient-basicl…
A valid Oracle Technology Network (free) account will be necessary.
A running Oracle Database Server will be necessary. It can be the Express
Edition, which is free and can be downloaded from:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xe…
2. Install SQLTools from:
http://www.sqltools.net/downloads/InstallSQLTools_15b10D.exe
3. Run SQLTools.exe
3.1. Choose Yes or No for private or shared configuration
3.2. Click OK to define the master password to "none"
3.3. Enter the database user and database server info to establish the
connection
3.4. Click Connect
3.5. After a successful connection, close SQLTools
4. Run SQLTools again, and it will hang!
What I could get from this is that the problem seems to be related to the list
of saved connections's informations. If you run the program without connecting
to the database, no connection is saved to the list, and you can run and close
the program at will. After the first connection is saved to the list, the
program hangs at the next run.

Jennifer Lai put together a win16 test suite
as her intern project this summer, with a little
guidance from me. The code is a combination
of win16 tests that had been posted in the past,
and backports of 32 bit wine tests.
Jennifer says the tests pass on Windows XP.
The code can be downloaded
from http://win16test.googlecode.com with svn,
and is quite easy to run; see
http://win16test.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/README
for instructions.
There are four or five crash failures and several lesser failures.
She has proposed patches to fix most of these at
http://win16test.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/src/patches/
I think there are mistakes in at least one of her patches,
but they're still a good starting point
We would have liked to commit the win16 tests as part
of the wine source tree, but Alexandre didn't want us to,
so we created a project at googlecode.com to host them.
I'll gladly give committer status to any serious wine
developer who wants to work on them.

I'd attach a backtrace if anyone could tell me how to actually create one, but
it's highly possible that this crash is caused by the lack of threading support
in the schannel implementation of wine.

Using the attached patch somehow seems to make these crashes more rare, however
they still occur and the shop is incredible slow.

You can't see this unless you compare Windows and Wine side by side,
but: I didn't even realize there was a throbbing halo around the
language choice and save game name choice until I saw it on Windows.
When I went back to Wine, I saw it was there too, but not as noticeable.
Also affects downloadable demo.
Needless to say, this is a minor detail.

1. All icons in toolbar are black. In the console the line appears:
err:imagelist:IMAGELIST_InternalExpandBitmaps creating new image bitmap
(x=25600 y=16)!
2. After doing from the menu: Edit->Prefernces->OK an access violation occurs
and the app is no longer usable.
Both bugs are gone using native comctl32

On Test Drive Unlimited water is always rendered on top of any other object, no
matter how far or high the object is, in fact one can see the rivers and sea
over the road/mountains being miles away from the sea/river.
This issue happens since the very first runnable wine version (1.1.x), and I
belive that it wasn't reported earlier because it was confused by most users
with bug 7991, but definitely not the same issue.
I have tested it with the following hardware (DX10 capable) and the bug shows
clearly:
------------------------[ snip ]------------------------------------
direct rendering: Yes
server glx version string: 1.4
client glx version string: 1.4
GLX version: 1.4

OpenGL version string: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 270.41.06
OpenGL shading language version string: 3.30 NVIDIA via Cg compiler
------------------------[ snip ]------------------------------------
There are also reports on the appdb of users with a Geforce 9600GT or ATI
HD4870 having the same issue (both cards are DX10 capable), and a lot of
screenshots with the "flood".

That refers to a newer version of the Xaudio libraries which come bundled in
the June 2010 DirectX redistributable.
However, the current winetricks script installs directx libs from the February

XAudio2_7.dll
XactEngine3_7.dll
XAPOFX1_5.dll
You have to hunt them down from a Windows machine (with up-to-date directx),
place them in /system32 and register them with regsvr32.exe.
The game will start correctly afterwards.

Console error output for Talking Moose program
When it functions properly on a Windows machine, the Talking Moose application
is a desktop toy (based on an app for the old Macintosh Plus from the 80's) in
which an animated talking moose avatar periodically pops up in the upper-right
corner of the screen to offer witty remarks, puns, or mild insults. (The phrase
database can be modified and augmented.) The moose also comments on various
system activities, like the opening and closing of programs. There's also a
system tray icon, and right-clicking offers a host of other options, as well as
a control panel to control the moose's behavior.
I can't get the application to work in wine. (
I can successfully install the application, and it starts up and creates a
system tray icon without crashing.
But there's no animation or sound or talking, the moose avatar displays the
text "Voice Error: I'm Sick", and clicking on the moose avatar itself or
right-clicking on the system tray icon and trying to open the control panel
causes an immediate crash of the program, generally with an error box saying
"Run-time error '-2147200966 (8004503a)': Automation error."
Solving this problem might be helpful more generally, because it might shed
some more light on the Microsoft text-to-speech system in the process.
I've tested the program on clean wineprefix, with/without vbrun, with/without
native ole. I also tried installing Microsoft Text-to-Speech (see, for example,
http://www.bytecool.com/voices.htm), but none of this changed the application's
behavior in any way.
Please see the attached console error output.
Thanks!

after placing msvcp60.dll in to wine's system32 folder and setting quartz to

problem starts when attempting to log in. The game console just says that the
data files are corrupt (unless you try to log in with something wit htoo many
or too little characters). In a normal situation this would be remedied by
deleting all of the .data files (in the NF folder) and letting the game patcher
replace them. I've noticed that the patcher keeps downloading something every
time I run it. I'm guessing that it is replacing the .data files when it does
this. but again, it doesn't solve the problem.

On screens that cannot run at 640x480 resolution, the demo of Total
Annihilation has to run in a virtual desktop in order to run at all, otherwise
it crashes. This is not I feel the bug.
The issue targeted by this bug report is that it is unworkably hard to scroll
around the game world by moving the mouse pointer to the edges of the window,
since the mouse pointer has to be positioned *exactly* on the edge of the
window, which is possible, but detracts from the gameplay experience to the
point as to be unplayable.
A possible solution to this issue (which is not really a bug, so much as a lack
of a feature I feel), could be to make it possible to enforce in wincfg that
the mouse is locked to a particular region of the window or screen, by default
to the window itself.
wincfg could provide the possibility to specify a keyboard shortcut to unlock
the mouse when necessary, or simply, by alt-tabbing out of the window, the
mouse could be unlocked.
For an example of another environment that implements this, you could look for
example at dosbox. If you run for example populous in dosbox in a window, it
works perfectly I feel, by locking the mouse pointer to the window, and one can
use ctrl-f10 to free it, which I feel is totally unintuitive, but I feel works
fine.

Simple windows app with source that brings up a message box every time the
window is activated.
I have an app which opens a modal dialog under some circumstances when the
window is activated. Under Windows this works perfectly, but under wine it
causes the app to hang. I have attached a trivial sample app showing this
behavior.
I poked around a bit, and the app is no longer receiving any messages (mouse
moves, keyboard, paint, etc), but I'm not sure where to go from here.
Also under Windows, since the app checks for the wParam (bActive) on
WM_ACTIVATEAPP, it only brings up one copy of the dialog box even after
multiple window activations. Under wine it will bring up another copy of the
dialog if there is already a modal dialog on that app.

When I enter "wine app.exe" nothing happens for a really long time. After
waiting for 5 or sometimes up to 10 minutes (no CPU load) the application
launches. This even applies to winecfg!
When I run wine in debug mode (WINEDEBUG=+relay winecfg) it stops producing
output at a certain point and then continues (again after a few minutes).
I have attached some debug output (the place where wine seems to freeze and
stops producing output). I can't attach the entire file, because it is 40MB :(

See Bug 18601 - a recent regression that is fixed by the next release, but
anyone searching for an open bug for Google Sketchup will not see it unless
they choose to run an advanced search, which some users clearly don't.
I'm sure this is a simple change to the code.

Bugs start out with Mr. Bugs as the default assignee, which is evidently
intended so the mailing list gets copied on all bug changes. That's fine.
But under some situations, bugzilla seems to also automatically add
mr. bugs to the cc list.
For instance, here:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-bugs/2010-September/251648.html
Whereupon Dmitry promptly removed it from the cc:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-bugs/2010-September/251690.html
Austin verified that this had been done automatically by repeating his
component change:
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-bugs/2010-September/251728.html
and then removed the extra cc manually in the next change.
What's going on here? Should that cc be added automatically or not?

Absolute Blue (a small, freeware arcade game) crashes with a memory access
violation while loading.
Tested with several Wine versions back until 1.0.1, the same crash happens in
each version for me.
I have no Windows installed, so can't test how the game behaves under Windows.
How to reproduce the issue:
Start the game, when the loading bar almost reaches 100%, an error dialog is
shown and the game quits.
Note: due to bug #23173 the game's screen is flipped upside-down. As a
workaround you can change ORM to 'backbuffer' in the registry.

Numerous FixMes and some Errs...
Well, I finally got it installed using winetrick's dontnet20 and wmp9 as
suggested on my previous bug report for not being able to install it.
It only works on Windows Vista and above compatibility modes, so the log
attached was using Windows 7 which seems best.
I'm not sure where to start on this bug report.
Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9.0b Platinum has several serious issues, all of which
we should be able to be determined from the short log attached.
I'll list them below:
* No plug-ins were found. (This includes the Media Generator, Transitions, and
Video FX tabs making them totally unusable) This effects the majority of the
application and the "Video Event FX..." window, making the program somewhat
useless.
* The Audio "Track FX..." and "Apply Non-Real Time Event FX..." windows are
both totally unusable since nothing can be clicked in them. The audio plugins
there are at least detected, just borked.
* Video Preview Window doesn't show anything, and occasionally flickers a
different color only when rendering. Terminal cycles a never ending
"fixme:msvideo:DrawDibDraw" bug when attempting to play the movie. This also
effects the "Video Event Pan/Crop..." window, making it nearly impossible to do
animation effects since determining your current location in the window is
simply a black screen.
* All icons have a black rectangle around them (trivial and probably just a
simple alpha transparency bug)
Note: Keyword download can be added since Sony Vegas Movie Studio has a free
trial. I made this log using the retail version, but it's using the same exe as
the one on the softpedia link provided.

Most of the times this happens when I wait for the last seconds to run out

I am trying to reproduce this error consitently, but I did manage to get that

BabelMap is a well-regarded utility for managing and tracking Unicode fonts.

Unfortunately, this is everything I have-- these errors are generated on
appinit (main window creation, I think), and not when opening dialog boxes, and
not on app close:

I can attach a screenshot, if needed, but this display corruption should be
easy to reproduce. For instance, open the app and click Configure... next to
"Composite Font".
I'm using simple autogen settings, with Windows XP set as the OS. If I can
provide other useful info, I'll be happy to.

Note: I could not find a component "winemenubilder" which is why I selected
"-unknown".
It would be great to have a way to tell wine not to create a whole bunch of
files across the .config and .local directories. I don't want any mime-type
which is registered by a windows application run through wine to reflect on my
system - if I really want to use wine to open a certain filetype (which never
happened so far) I will do that manually. Nor do I want all the unnecessary
start menu entries to be added to my KDE menu - they end up in the wrong
category anyway. I like to have the control of creating these entries myself.
For the menu it worked fine to simply remove the "Wine" menu directory with the
menu editor. The annoying files still got created, but they were ignored.
However now wine started to spam my mime directory, too, and it constantly
re-creates the files in there - a really annoying behaviour. This not only
leads to the danger of me accidentally starting wine without wanting to do so,
it also drives some applications crazy (for example the KDE screenshot
application no longer recognizes ".jpg" to be a JPEG extension since wine added
.jfif).
I understand that many people want wine to just magically integrate into their
Linux environment, but there are also people like me who switched to Linux
because they like to have control, and Windows often prefers its own
preferences over the user's. Wine should really not bring that to Linux, or it
will get as annoying as Windows is. If I could not patch wine myself to no
longer create these files, I had no way to stop all these mime types from being
added, no configuration panel to remove them, nothing. I do not even know which
of my many WINEPREFIXes created the files.

When the PocketBible application is started, the splash screen appears, but
nothing else. Errors are reported on the command line. The attached log file is
generated from a clean Wine install.
After discussion in this thread, I tried using winetricks cc580 to install a
native comctl32.dll:
http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=17535#17535
The DLL installed was v5.80 and the application then produced an error
indicating that v5.81 minimum is required. I substituted a native DLL of this
version and the application now runs successfully.
I noticed that replacing the Wine DLL with the native v5.81 directly is not
sufficient and it is necessary first to use winetricks as above and then to
substitute the later version DLL.

How it looks in Wine
The main character and the dragon in the DragonRiders game appear completely
black except for their eyes, as if they had no texture applied (check the
attached screenshots). From a bird's view of the village at the beginning, it
looks like the sky suffers from the same problem. I couldn't verify whether
this applies to other characters in the game as well or not, since I only
played for a few minutes.
The same bug happens in Cedega as well.
I can only guess it's some kind of chroma key problem (as the one in Ultima
IX), but the game cannot be configured with respect to that. The only hint is a
debug error that floods the console (check attached log):
err:d3d_surface:IWineD3DBaseSurfaceImpl_BltFast DXTC decompression not
supported by now
but I don't know if it might be related. There's also a message concerning an
unsupported Stippled Alpha feature.

Now that bug 22200 is fixed, Dragon Age Online no longer needs native
msvcr80. But when you move the mouse, there are black
bars in the game's opening menu page.
You can work around this with WINEDEBUG=-msvcrt.
The messages this suppresses look like this:
fixme:msvcrt:_controlfp_s (0x518e8f8 655391 196608) semi-stub
fixme:msvcrt:__crtGetStringTypeW (unk 0, type 1, wstr 0x518e58c(1), 0x518e590)

This seems to be a concrete case of a verbose FIXME causing suboptimal
performance. Should we
a) declare this to be not a problem because the user is supposed to read the
manual or appdb and know to use WINEDEBUG=-all when running this app?
b) declare this to be not a problem because the distro is supposed to patch
or wrap wine to always run apps with WINEDEBUG=-all?
c) temporarily mark the FIXMEs that cause the performance problem to be
displayed once only?
or d) something else?

Version: 1.3.31
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mblackwell1024(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
The Witcher 2 suffers from strange anomalies where objects or parts of objects
are drawn as black rather than textured. This occurs regardless of whether GLSL
is enabled or disabled and is not the same as Bug 27194 (which is resolved).
The only console message during this time is:
fixme:d3d:resource_check_usage Unhandled usage flags 0x8.
over and over.
I've attached a screenshot showing the issue. Shifting the view slightly
changes what will and won't be shown as black. It happens mostly outdoors and
generally on foliage, although it sometimes appears on characters as well as
the screenshot indicates.

Running Black & White, regardless of in-game settings, the following fixme
occurs:
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_convert_format Cannot find a conversion function from
format WINED3DFMT_DXT1 to WINED3DFMT_A4R4G4B4
Although the game is still playable, the lack of DXT1 support does seriously
affect the graphics and gameplay. On "lowest" settings, the terrain is
transparent and some objects are untextured and 100% black; on "highest", some
textures are corrupted, or untextured as in "lowest" settings.

Running "make exception.ok" in ntdll/tests under valgrind fails.
This has been happening since at least early last year. Log:
valgrind: Unrecognised instruction at address 0x7f230000.
Your program just tried to execute an instruction that Valgrind
did not recognise. There are two possible reasons for this.
1. Your program has a bug and erroneously jumped to a non-code
location. If you are running Memcheck and you just saw a
warning about a bad jump, it's probably your program's fault.
2. The instruction is legitimate but Valgrind doesn't handle it,
i.e. it's Valgrind's fault. If you think this is the case or
you are not sure, please let us know and we'll try to fix it.
Either way, Valgrind will now raise a SIGILL signal which will
probably kill your program.

Might be a valgrind bug, but winehq is probably the right place for triaging
it.

Some time ago we need native d3dx9_27.dll to start Oblivion. Today we can play
it without native library. Bloom and HDR works too (HDR with some work). But
when I played, I saw very strange bug... Skin of my hero is black. Other people
looks fine. Watsh screenshots of fine view with native d3dx9_27.sll and badly
view without it. This bug works with DR, Bloom and without this.
It can be that this is because my hero is Danmer.

buttons will not be present, only duplicated.

With Midtown Madness 1, (Chicago) the menus flicker. This problem is apparent
in the trial and I presume also in the retail version as well (although that
wouldn't install).

Summary: BiuTicker: Text in list displayed too deep and clipped
away
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.39
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux

Component: gdi32

BiuTicker list display (text drawn too deep)
When starting BiuTicker a list of stock chart properties is displayed.
In this list the text is displayed too deep. Only the top most scan line of
each character is visible, the rest is clipped away. See attachments.
My current error analysis:
Within DrawTextExW:
y-coordinates are negative
viewport coordinates are positive.
DT_NOCLIP is 0 (clipping active)
DT_SINGLELINE is 1
DT_VCENTER is 1 (Center text vertically)
According to these flags the y coordinate (of the bottom line) is calculated.
When calling ExtTextOutW the text alignment within the used DC is TA_TOP which
results in using the y coordinate as top line (instead of bottom line).
Forcing alignment to TA_BOTTOM before calling ExtTextOutW would display the
text right but has side effects on other DrawTextExW calls.

Manga Studio EX 3.0 wintab32 debug log
Running wine 1.1.5 in Ubuntu 8.04, my Wacom Bamboo One works perfectly under X
in programs like Gimp and Inkscape. With Wine, it also works perfectly with
ArtRage 2 Starters Edition.
But Manga Studio EX 3.0 (rated platinum in wine apps db) lacks pressure
sensitivity. Please find the attached debug logs from wintab32. I attached the
log from Manga Studio and from ArtRage (for comparison). Both logs have been
acquired by launching the program and try to draw a few lines with the pen.
