Fatal error: Exception code = c0000005 called from progprin line 42
We did probe this visual fox program with versions 1.2 too, and the same error
appears. If we downgrade to 1.1.42 the software run well again.

The terminal output/log.
I have tested Wine 1.3.28 and have probably found a regression.
The audio test (Audio tab in winecfg) failed in this version. In older versions
it works perfectly. I think this is a regression with the new automatic audio
system/driver selection.
I use Fedora 15 32-bit with PulseAudio (which is the default).
The terminal output/log is in the attachment.
If you need more information let me know.

Default deadspace_f_activation.exe log
While game itself isn't released, if you'd preordered it from EA Store, it's
possible to download installer.
While trying to launch installer, it's launching "activation.exe", that unpacks
itself into C:\users\Temp\mtka_tmp and runs deadspace_f_activation, that
crashes (log attached).
It's almost definite, that SecuROM is somehow involved in process, as there is
a bunch of SecuROM files and dlls request in WINEDEBUG=+warn, and there is
secupacker_launcher.exe, but, probably, crash caused by something else.
It should be runnable before release date, I'm sure, as language files contents
strings of "too early" messages and there is "Release Date Check" procedure.
Before closing, it told me, that "To finish activation process, you must have
Administrative privileges" (or something like that, translated from Russian)
No tweaks and no additional software installed - pure ~/.wine prefix.
Log produced from launching only deadspace_f_activation.exe - otherwise
debugger can't produce backtrace.

I estimated it to around 290k calls for one match using wc. Of these over 95 %
fail like the one above, while a few do find the requested file. This makes the
match take several minutes to load in wine. I don't have any windows machine
but I assume it's much much faster there.
Something should be done to speed this up. I was thinking maybe a cache, but
ofc it's difficult to cache when the file system might change under your feet.
Ideas appreciated.

It hangs just like this on XP, too. But what the heck, if
we could get it to not hang on wine, that'd be nice.

Summary: Battle for middle earth2: No network multiplayer
possible
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.11
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P4
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: mcflow-forum(a)gmx.net
Multiplayer games with Battle for Middle Earth2 in wine are not possible.
According to the information on the game package it uses TCP/IP for network
multiplayer. I already tried using the native dplay dlls like it is stated in
the wiki, LAN still does not work.
It happens like this:
I enter the network mode and the game displays myself two times in the players
list. The other player sees me in the list only one time, as it should be. I
can read what he writes and vice versa. If I write something I can see it two
times in the chat. For the other user it appears only one time.
Now, if I open a game, the other player can see it in the game list. If he
wants to join he gets a "Connection Timout" error. Same happens if the other
player opens a game and I want to join it.
I searched the Bugzilla for quite a time now because I do not want to open a
duplicate bug. I found a few things that first sounded interesting but when I
tested them nothing changed. I found a note at the AppDB page of Garena 3.0
(http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=14147&iTesting…)
Patching with the patch that is linked there did not solve the problem with
wine-1.1.11(well one of the hunks failed but it compiled) In Bug 9787 there
also was a patch for the AcceptEX for wine-1.1.6. It did not work with
wine-1.1.6.
It said that wine does not include AcceptEX. I'm not sure if "The battle for
middle earth" requires it. I did not find anything about it on the net except
that it uses tcp/ip.

Not sure how to describe this exactly...but the Respondus Lockdown Browser is
meant to be used by universities to make sure that students don't use other
programs when taking quizzes/exams/etc. As a result, it does some really funky
stuff...While writing an appinstall test for it, found a few interesting
things. First up, on windows, the IfWinExist
(http://www.autohotkey.com/docs/commands/IfWinExist.htm) function fails for
this window (never seen that happen for any other app). On wine, however, we
detect it just fine.

Rift launcher output, msvcp90.dll builtin
Trying to run the Rift launcher with wine 1.3.27 fails. With an override for
msvcp90.dll set to builtin, it gives an unimplemented function error, and then
it crashes completely. Since the launcher is necessary to play the game (it
handles logins), this bug makes it impossible to play.
The installer is at
http://update2.triongames.com/patcher/public/Rift_LIVE_Patcher_setup.exe
This is a small download (~20MiB) that installs the launcher. Don't worry about
massive game asset downloads as you need a game account and it happens after
logging in.
I've attached the relevant console output on a completely clean prefix.
Although installing vcrun2008 and d3dx9 as the game (not launcher) actually
requires has no effect on this error.
The only workaround I've found to be able to run the game is to downgrade to
1.3.26, create a new prefix with this old version and install everything. And
to _never_ let 1.3.27 run on this prefix, since from what I can tell it tries
to update the builtin C:\windows\system32\msvcp90.dll (thus causing the error
to return even when using version 1.3.26)

I've tried a few things to no effect:
Disabling compositing

Running on one core (also as recommended)
Setting the resolution before running the game
Running in a window
This is the original UK version (not UK edition!) of Simcity 3000, both 1.0 and
1.1. I had a previous issue where a file was corrupt, so I'm going to try and
locate an ISO of the UK version (legal as I own it right?) and install again.

Sound works only in intro movie. Changing sound hardware acceleration in wine
settings to emulation doesn't help. WINE 1.3.24 is the last version with
working sound in Diablo II (with sound hardware acceleration set to emulation).

Using a native msadp32.acm (obtained from a Win XP SP3 installation) works
around the problem: the game starts and audio is working fine. You need to
override it to native in winecfg's libraries tab. Tested with the GoG.com
version of the game.
I wonder what debug channel(s) should be used to reveal more infos on this
problem?

Filed new bug 28734 for the hang.

Still seems to fail install, but now it gets quite a ways;
it seems to hang while doing DDE at the end of install, as
one sees
fixme:ddeml:DdeAccessData16 expect trouble
fixme:shell:Dde_OnRequest 1 0x1322e0 L"Progman" L"Broderbund Software": stub
in the log.
(If I kill the installer, and then try to run the game,
it crashes with in libfontconfig.so.1 while doing
MessageBox16+0x44(hwnd=0, text="This program requires SVGA, set to a minimum of
640x480 resolution and 256 colors."...)
So, not quite fixed yet, although it seems like it's past the shell.dll
problem.

Created attachment 36908
--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=36908
The output from starting the process
What I've done:
-Installed all msxml versions, 3, 4 and 6.
-Installed DirectX9 + 10
-Installed xinput
-Installed DirectInput
-Install gfwl
-Installed some msvc libs
-Installed some vcrun libs
-Installed mfc42
-Installed ie6 (trying to fix ieframe errors)
Not entirely sure, but should be right.
I also set Windows Vista as the version.
GLSL: disabled, DDR: opengl, VRAM: 512, ORM: fbo, multisampling: disabled
Specs:
AMD Phenom II X4 3Ghz
ATI Radeon HD5750 512Mb with fglrx
6Gb DDR3 RAM@1333Mhz
Ubuntu 11.10 amd64, kernel 3.0.0-12
In this case, Wine 1.3.26
What I did was this:
Inserted the disc, and launched the Startup.exe file in PlayOnLinux
(debugging).
A blue-colored window appears, and nothing else. The process is sleeping, and
consumes ~40Mb of RAM. The attached output is written to terminal, and some
more when killing the window.

Summary: UFO Extraterrestials: Problems with mouse cursor and
textures.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.0.0
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: RodionKarimov(a)yandex.ru
Problem with mouse: cursor is shown not exactly there where it is, for exmple,
when cursor is graphically shown a long away from button - the button is
selected, when it is on button - button is not selected.
There is some problem in inner game mouse driver, because, when i am changing
mouse sensitivity in file "ufo-et.ini", that is located in "data" directory
from 255 to 100, image of mouse cursor starts to be much closer to there, where
it actually is. But not exactly. And some times image of cursor again starts to
go far from exact cursor location, for example: sometimes when rotating the
globe or in tactical mode, when shooting.
Problem with textures: when in "ufo-et.ini" "scissortesting=true", that
default is, there is not seen in global mode: images of soldiers; research
tasks; rifles, pistols, grenades and ammunition of soldiers; and name of the
save game that is being enter when saving game.
When "scissortesting=false" all of that is shown, but name of the saving game
is very little, project names is also very little, images of soldioers and
weapons is also very little. And everything of this is not on its place, for
example images of weapons is right and down from its location; images of
soldiers are placed down from its locations; names of projects are right and
down from its location, but they are selecting and activating by mouse at that
position where they must be.

Dan, is this the same bug as bug 6527? Seeing as this is a dupe of bug 11163.
I'm not sure which version of zoombinis I have; it's logical journey, but Ive
no idea whether it's version 1 or 2. Any idea how to check?
Anyway, setup seems to install fine. There are other issues, like if you try to
change the install path.
In any case, bug fixed.
