After selecting a previously created character and hitting "Start", a gamewindow appears for a second and then disappears. This only happens when you try to log in with a character, creating a new character works. You can play the game as long as you log out the first time, cause you cannot log in again. I tried to start the game without the launcher to get a clean output. I see nothing in the error log (attached) to indicate where the problem is. All the error log messages look very familiar to me from past successful installations. I hesitated to report it because I though the error must be mine. But I have tested carefully. I got the same problem even after creating a new Oneiric partition. I also got the same problem downloading 1.3 from the Ubuntu repository. The attached log is from the current git version. So I am somewhat puzzled. Note that the installation did not terminate. Any CR LF characters in the RTF file are turned into ^Q ^Y characters when the file is embedded in the MSI's Control table. To reproduce: 1. Run build.sh in the attached test case. It will spit out 'test.msi'. 2. Open 'test.msi' and observe the weird boxes in the EULA screen. You will have to do this on a real Windows system since Wine's msiexec crashes when you get to the EULA screen. 3. Open the file in Orca <http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370557(v=vs.85).aspx> and look at the Control table; look for the row where Dialog_ = 'LicenseAgreementDlg' AND Control = 'LicenseText'; you will see the little boxes representing the control characters in the Text column. To run the test case, you will need Mono <http://ftp.novell.com/pub/mono/archive/2.10.2/windows-installer/5/mono-2.10…> and WiX <http://wix.codeplex.com/releases/view/44406#DownloadId=119160>. This happens under 32-bit Ubuntu 10.10 and 64-bit Fedora 14. I tried the x86 version on both and they both did the same thing. I added logs from both Fedora and Ubuntu. In many applications, user perferences are saved in application specific control files contained in unique OS specific user locations. These files contain unique user specific values and should not be overwitten or deleted when an application is uninstalled, then installed again. In Installshield, an option is given to mark these files not to be overwritten. This is passed to the Microsoft msi installer. You can test this by installing POL and before you update, it will have only 3 buttons, Network, Next and Cancel, if it installed as the US version. If it has 4 buttons, Network, Next, Cancel and Language, it has installed the EU version.
