Summary: Audacity 1.3.12 treats all file type selections as
"all files" when exporting
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.4
Platform: x86-64
URL: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Terminal output
In Audacity, open an audio file and then go to file -> export. On this file
dialog, any selection from the "files of type" drop-down list will (apparently)
be treated as "all files", which leads to two minor annoyances:
1. DLLs and other unrelated file types will be listed while browsing for a
destination folder. (This doesn't happen immediately when the dialog opens,
only after changing the destination directory and/or file type.)
2. If the file extension isn't specified manually, Audacity will try to append
".*" to the end of the file name and then warn that this is a non-standard
extension for this type of file.

When installing a trial version of Rhino 4.0 obtained from here
http://download.rhino3d.com/eval/?p=25, the installer reports successful
completion. However, the terminal output shows a crash.
Presumably, Rhino crashes when run after the installation. A small part of the
GUI is displayed, but remains unresponsive. A dialog window for error-reporting
pops up.

Summary: Foobar2000 won't watch folders
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.7
Platform: x86

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: lucisandor(a)gmail.com
Foobar2000 is a media player with an automatically updated media library. The
library updates correctly when updates are triggered manually, but, under Wine,
it does not detect changes in folders.
Moreover, Foobar2000 provides for such cases a "polling" function, but that is
useless too.
The most upsetting is that changes in watched folders are not detected even
when they were produced by Fooobar2000, e.g., by using the menu option "move
file". If I move a file from one watched folder to another, the media library
will not be aware of the changes in any of the two locations.

I am unable to use the built-in iexplore to view the source code of web pages.
The link in the right-click menu exists, but all it produces is the error:
fixme:mshtml:OleCommandTarget_Exec unsupported nCmdID 2139 of CGID_MSHTML group
AFAIK, the Windows behavior for this menu item is to open the source code of
the selected frame in notepad. Since notepad is already implemented, I would
hope this would be an easy feature to add in. If implemented, this would be
very helpful for tracking down rendering bugs in apps that use the iexplore
interface.

HyperChem 8.0.6 Evaluation requires the user to enter a provided license code
in order to generate a locking code, which is sent via email to the authors for
a trial license key. However, a proper locking code (0-0) isn't generated, thus
prohibiting program usage.
Reproduce:
1. Download HyperChem 8.0.6.
2. Copy mfc40.dll from a Windows installation.
3. Launch the setup and pick "standalone," then "software-license."
4. Use the serial number provided on their website.
5. Launch chem.exe; it will ask you to launch the activator, which generates a
locking code of 0-0.

When I try to create a new "Windows Application" project, and click on Form1.cs
to open the Designer, the form does not display and the designer is blank.
Choosing Designer from the menus displays the same, and even adding a new form
to the project has the same result.
Clicking on the blank area does update the Properties window with the details
of the Form.
Closing Visual C# and opening again, I'm now getting a popup error when
clicking on the Form1.cs to load the designer: "Attempted to read or write
protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."
I've attached a screenshot of this. In the output window on the bottom, the
error is listed as well as an MSBuild error, even though I didn't try to build
or debug. This also happens now if I try to create a new WindowsApplication
project from the template. I get the popup right away when the project loads,
without even clicking on the form. When exiting Visual C#, after the UI is
closed, an error dialog pops up telling me "Microsoft Visual C# has encountered
a problem and needs to close." I uncheck restart and click Don't Send. I've
also attached a screenshot.
Checking my system processes, I see that WindowsApplication1.exe is still
running under wine, even though I never started debug or compiled. If I kill
this and let wine stop, and then open VC# and try again, the process repeats.
It seems like the only time I didn't get any error loading the Form Designer
was the first run after install, but I still only had a blank white screen. I
also went through Tools->Options and when trying to view/set the Windows Forms
Designer options on the right hand side I get "An error occured loading this
property page." and nothing else.
I'll try the Windows trick of rebooting and see if that makes a difference.
Anyone encountered this before or know if I have to install any other
libraries?

generates the same error message (and a remarkably short +relay log).

Summary: Half-life engine's software rendering is ridiculously
slow on Intel GMA 945
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.26
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: richardcavell(a)mail.com
When I play Half-Life on Wine in software rendering mode, the screen renders
really slowly. About one frame every five to ten seconds. What is actually
being displayed is graphically correct, it's just ridiculously slow.
While watching the screen, the top rasterline is updated to the new frame, then
the one below it, then the one below that, and so on, until the line being
updated reaches the bottom of the screen. It then starts on a new frame.
There is no tearing within the middle of a line. The lines are output at a
perfectly constant speed. If I increase the resolution, it is slower to update
an entire frame. My computer is easily able to render Duke Nukem 3D at fast
frame rate, so there has to be a bottleneck or bug somewhere. People who have
non-Intel graphics hardware don't get this problem.
I suspect that Wine is incorrectly waiting for VSync after outputting each
raster line.
The problem occurs also with any Half-Life engine derivative (Counter-Strike,
Condition Zero, etc). Half-Life is capable of rendering in OpenGL, software
rendering or Direct3D, selectable from a menu.
I'm on 64-bit Ubuntu Karmic with all current updates applied. Half-Life and
Steam have updated themselves. Intel video drivers are version 2.8.0. Wine
version 1.1.26. Xserver-xorg version 7.4. Second-generation MacBook using an
Intel GMA 945.
Jaunty uses version 2.6.3 of the Intel drivers, and Half-Life and its
derivatives are basically completely unuseable on those drivers - they're just
too buggy.
I'm happy to perform any experiments that people suggest. Running hl.exe from
console doesn't give any printf output, since the main Half-Life engine isn't
actually in that executable.

Screenshot about the bug
Sibelius 3 shows wrong tooltips in the Keypad window. Clearly these are not
"Save As" buttons and such. But somehow the topmost row of five buttons has
still the right tooltips.
Is it possible that the two windows (main & Keypad) would have separate string
resources with overlapping identifiers but Wine just uses the main window's
resources for both?
There was a demo version of the program, but it's not officially available
anymore, as the most recent version is Sibelius 5. However, a Sibelius 3 Demo
might be downloadable here (not tested):

The latest Full Tilt Poker runs normally and everything works. But when you try
to exit (either via the "X" button or "Lobby->Exit") the program hangs, and
never ends. This has two side effects. Firstly, the preferences you choose do
not get saved (as the program does not terminate the way it should (save user
options, etc)) and secondly, when you try to launch the program again, the
characters appear ugly and unreadable, and this is a known issue that gets
fixed by killing the first, existing process.

Perfectly willing to chip my teeth on this bug, I downloaded the latest Wine
git to check the source.
I ran the game again with the following command:
WINEDEBUG=trace+d3d_constants wine "Sexy Beach Zero English.exe" &> ~/sbz2.log
The log now returns this:

Repeat the array index out of bounds warning plenty of times.
Going deeper, I ran the game like this:

R0.xyzw = ((R0.xyzw * R1.xyzw) + R2.xyzw);
R0.xyzw = (R0.xyzw * *VC[822]*.yyyy);
This is where the "array index out of bounds" warning comes from. The shader
translator should have converted "c822" to a uniform, but instead put it in an
array.
I got hopelessly lost in the Wine source, I couldn't find the error myself,
unfortunately. :(
Hopefully this helps someone more knowledgeable with these things!

Finddupe has an option to generate a batch file that can be run later to create
hard links for the duplicate files it find, but these batch files don't work in
Wine:
wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\fsutil.exe"
The particular command it's using is this:
fsutil hardlink create "C:\test6\testfile_1.gif" "C:\test6\testfile.gif"
Copying over fsutil.exe from WinXP lets it work as expected (aside from the
native app producing corrupted output). Fsutil is documented here:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en…
A lot of these functions probably wouldn't translate to Wine well (setting NTFS
attributes, etc.) but "fsutil hardlink create" seems to do the same thing as
CreateHardLink...

DVD Flick is a very good open-source Windows app for creating DVDs. The 1.0.2.X
version works fine in Wine, but the new, 1.0.3 version have two problems:
- fonts are too small (if you install some extra windows fonts the problem
diminishes, but still not good)
- freeze when adding a video to the project.
Sadly, for #2, no message is seen in prompt (and I do not know how to use
winedbg, sorry), it just stops executing without any output for the user.
According to DVD Flick author, no changes in the video import were made, only
the ffmpeg version was upgraded.
(I'll try to put the old one over the new to test today).

If you try to install the demo with no native libraries,
the install fails with
DXSetup.exe - Error
A fatal error occurred. However, mscorees.dll could not be loaded to display
the appropriate error message. Please reinstall the .NET framework.
"winetricks dotnet30 gfw" works around this.
At one point, I think "winetricks mono26 gfw" also worked around it,
but that's not working for me at the moment.

Oh joy, LSA again ...
There already exist other bugs falling into same problem domain, example: bug
16418
If developer resources are short maybe this could be part of some SoC project:
making transition from current approach towards LSA rpc interface and lsass
(and fleshing out stubs of course).
http://www.hsc.fr/ressources/articles/win_net_srv/msrpc_lsarpc.html
I fleshed the stub a bit just for proof and it gets the WCF installer further.

Looking into "C:\\windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v3.0\\fusion.dll" path
there is no native fusion.dll.
Hence Wine's builtin fusion.dll is loaded by LoadLibraryExW().
The builtin fusion doesn't contain version resource so it fails.
This is a subtile problem: adding version resource to Wine's fusion might cause
problems because every .NET Framework might ship it's own version of fusion
which ought to override builtin fusion.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa370325.aspx
Usually:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\fusion.dll
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\fusion.dll
AFAIK .NET 3.0 and 3.5 don't bring their own fusion version (someone might
check a real Windows installation with these Frameworks present).
The problem is how dlls/msi/package.c:get_fusion_filename() works.
At the point where the installation fails the following registry data is
present at the location get_fusion_filename() reads:
--- snip ---
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP]

--- snip ---
I don't know how Windows msi does MsiNetAssemblySupport.
Maybe a check for real existence of (native) fusion.dll to prevent false load
of "builtin" fusion is better.
If native fusion is not present in full path, that .NET Framework subkey data
(version) can't be used for MsiNetAssemblySupport property.

It seems better to provide a simple httpapi stub dll.
MSDN for more info (only version 1 API seems requested):
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa364627.aspxhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa364625.aspx
After generating a stub dll with winedump and some trial & error sessions, the
minimum required stubs are as follows:
--- snip ---
HttpDeleteServiceConfiguration -> return NO_ERROR (0)
HttpInitialize -> return NO_ERROR (0)
HttpQueryServiceConfiguration -> return ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND (2) (most likely
means the service not installed, passed args can be left untouched with this
error)
HttpSetServiceConfiguration -> return NO_ERROR (0)
HttpTerminate -> return NO_ERROR (0)
--- snip ---
With those stubs in place, the HTTP api related actions (fake) succeed.

5. export _SFX_CAB_SHUTDOWN_REQUEST=1 (workaround, see bug 9158)
6. wine ./dotnetfx3setup.exe
It might take a while until all required packages are downloaded using BITS.
Note: If you need to redo steps, backup the directory "dotnetfx304506.30" from
"c:\\windows\\temp" to a different location, remove ~/.wine, copy
"dotnetfx304506.30" again to "c:\\windows\\temp" to prevent BITS from

That GetServiceKeyNameW() API failure seems to be ok because the app passes the
key name itself "idsvc" and not the service display name.
The following GetServiceDisplayNameW() also fails, leading to app
error/exception.
If you look closer, you see svcctl_GetServiceDisplayNameW (L"idsvc", 1) ->
buffer length "1" passed.
This is clearly not what the app intended.
The app reuses the length parameter from GetServiceKeyNameW(), passing it again
into GetServiceDisplayNameW() but Wine changed it to "1" which seems incorrect.
--- snip programs/services/rpc.c ---
DWORD svcctl_GetServiceKeyNameW(
SC_RPC_HANDLE hSCManager,

WCHAR *lpBuffer,

}
scmdatabase_unlock(manager->db);
if (err != ERROR_SUCCESS && cchBufSize > 0)
lpBuffer[0] = 0;
return err;
}
--- snip programs/services/rpc.c --
This doesn't look right, a conformance test case should reveal the correct
behaviour.
I already verified this with a patch.

It probably needs winetricks dotnet20 first.
It fails with message

That file contains

which seems related to the Protected Storage service
and lsass.exe, which Wine doesn't have yet.
The app then spews several crash report dialogs.
(The installer continues on anyway, and fails when installing

terminal output
When installing Impulse with current git (wine-1.1.32-499-gffb2cfc), there is a
crash in file setsdaff.exe, but installer continues and reports that it
finished successfully. Another thing I noticed: after installation some
processes remains in memory, they are mscorsvw.exe (disappear aprox. 5-10
later) and rpcss.exe (remains there until killed).
Impulse needs dotnet20, I installed it with winetricks. After installation
Impulse starts, but cannot connect to server, bug 15486.
I did some search on the Stardock forums and it looks like even some windows
users had similar problem, in their case this was caused by broken .NET
install, .NET re-installation or update solved this.

Summary: ole32.CoGetClassObject: threads without apartment should

ReportedBy: focht(a)gmx.net
Hello,
there are apps which use free threaded COM (inproc) servers and call
CoGetClassObject() from (new) threads that do not explicitly initialize COM.
This is valid behaviour when one of the existing threads already created the
MTA by calling CoInitializeEx(NULL, COINIT_MULTITHREADED).
See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/150777
--- quote ---
Current implementations of COM allow a thread that does not explicitly
initialize COM to be a part of the MTA. A thread that does not initialize COM
is part of the MTA only if it starts using COM after at least one other thread
in the process has previously called CoInitializeEx(NULL,
COINIT_MULTITHREADED). (It is even possible that COM itself may have
initialized the MTA when no client thread has explicitly done so; for example,
a thread associated with an STA calls CoGetClassObject/CoCreateInstance[Ex] on
a CLSID that is marked "ThreadingModel=Free" and COM implicitly creates an MTA
into which the class object is loaded.) See the information on threading model
interoperability below.
However, this is a configuration that might cause problems, such as access
violations, under certain circumstances. Therefore, it is strongly recommended
that each thread that needs to do COM work initialize COM by calling
CoInitializeEx and then, on completion of COM work, call CoUninitialize. The
cost of "unnecessarily" initializing an MTA is minimal.
--- quote ---
An example app suffering from this is the managed console debugger from .NET
2.0 SDK "cordbg.exe":
When trying to debug a simple console C# app created with symbols (.pdb
format):
--- snip ---
wine "C:\\windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\csc.exe" /debug+
foo.cs
--- snip ---
Start debugger:
--- snip ---
wine "C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft.NET\\SDK\\v2.0\\Bin\\cordbg.exe foo.exe"
--- snip ---
The debugger will immediately begin to execute the app - not halting in Main()
method (source).
This is because symbol information can't be loaded using COR symbol binder
which lives in a free threaded COM inproc server.
0A29FF9E-7F9C-4437-8B11-F424491E3931 -> CLSID_CorSymBinder
Threads 0x38 (main) and 0x36 call "CoInitializeEx" with COINIT_MULTITHREADED,
creating the MTA.
Thread 0x3b is created later as pooled thread - part of MTA - to serve CLR
debugger requests (work items).
That thread never makes any init calls to COM (verified).

Hello,
now that some urlmon MIME support patches are on the way which are essential
for this app ("text/xml" MIME is later needed to show XML content in embedded
browser window) I file an "intermediate" bug that needs to be fixed before we
can verify the new functionality with real apps ;-)
The story is basically about in-place activation and deactivation of embedded
browser control.
The current shdocvw OleInPlaceObject_InPlaceDeactivate stub is mostly harmless
for many embedded browser control hosting apps because they don't rely on the
fact that in-place deactivation doesn't really take place (control will be
destroyed shortly anyway).
This app use case is a bit special hence the current in-place deactivation stub
becomes the culprit.
Steps to reproduce:
1. clean WINEPREFIX
2. winetricks -q dotnet20
3. start app, "Font files" -> "Add..." -> select whatever true/opentype font
from your system
4. "Table tests" -> "Clear All" -> select only "BASE" (shortens test)
5. "Rasterization" -> deselect "Test rasterization of TrueType outlines"
(shortens test)
6. hit "Start validation"
The .NET 2.0 app creates an embedded browser control:

The activate_inplace() OLE verb bails out early because Wine thinks the control
is in-place activated (This->inplace) -> real in-place deactivation never took
place.
.NET runtime tries to fetch hosted control's window handle which fails because
no parent switch was done.
Adding simple in-place deactivation (releasing IOleInPlaceSite, resetting
This->inplace) lets this app succeed, having windows properly
switched/re-parented.

Hello,
oleauto32.QueryPathOfRegTypeLib() doesn't work correctly when (major.minor) =

These parameters are passed by .NET Framework/CLR when regasm.exe utility is

MSDN doesn't mention such condition so this obviously needs some test case to
find out what logic is used to select the best match (first? last? lowest?
highest?).
dll/oleaut32/typelib.c:find_typelib_key() needs to be fixed accordingly.
"wMaj" needs to be made an "out" parameter too to actually return best matching
maj.min pair
With this part fixed it goes further - only to stumble into next bug ;-)

says "winetricks dotnet30" works but says there is a "large delay near
the end of installation". This seems to be true with wine-1.1.31,
but with current wine, it aborts after a few seconds instead.
Looking in c:/users/$LOGNAME/Temp, I see dd_dotnetfx3error.txt which says
[01/30/10,16:19:12] XPSEPSC x86 Installer: [2] Error code 1603 for this
component means "ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE"
and dd_XPS.txt (?) which says STR_FAILED_INF_INTEGRITY.
Could this be the same regression as bug 21542?

Actually only ordinal 138 seems to get used (Wine 'Windows XP' config).
Unfortunately I didn't find anything useful about this one (MSDN, blogs, Bing
..) :-(
By analyzing the caller stack setup we can deduce the necessary information to
create a simple stub.
The installer calls the ordinal like this:
--- snip ---
$ winedbg disas

0x01072e9e: leal 0xbc(%ebp),%eax

...
--- snip ---
number of arguments: 12
calling conv: stdcall
return type: most likely boolean (like the other known userenv API).
Armed with this information one can add a simple stub, export with ordinal 138,
-noname and 12 ptr params, name it whatever you like.
If you find any documented name, feel free to use it.
If we fake the stub to return FALSE, following messages will be logged to:
"c:\windows\KB926139-v2.log"

22.314:

22.319:

22.321:
Failed To Create Link -3 Quick Reference
--- snip ---
So this API is most likely some Lnk creation stuff.
Anyway, that simple stub is sufficient to let the installer proceed with its
post-install steps.
In the end, the installer runs into bug 16876 (bug in property sheet control).

Summary: Making Microsoft .NET 2.0 to work in wine, based on

Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT

Hello,
this bug id exists for the sole purpose of showing my little journey of getting
.NET 2.0 to work in wine.
This topic does *NOT* cover the MONO project in any way.
The windows version of MONO is covered by other bug reports.
DISCLAIMER: This is just a first step which aims at major show stoppers.
There are *many* issues left when it comes to managed (JIT) vs. unmanaged
(native) API code bridging.
To iron out all the bugs, many different applications are needed which cover
the whole range of .NET Framework.
I randomly chose a simple .NET 2.0 app which uses plain system.windows.forms
stuff (no fancy controls/interop).
--- snip ---
http://www.paehl.de/fastmd5_net20.zip
FASTMD5 create very fast with low CPU use a MD5 hash. Required .NET 1.1 or 2.0
--- snip ---
Just as foreword: yes, it plain sucks to debug mixed code in wine (managed +
unmanaged) because the tools required don't work reliable (or at all) due to
several wine bugs/design problems.
Prerequisite: successful installation of .NET 2.0 Framework and wine-0.9.49 (or
GIT)
----------
If you start .NET apps they will fail with stack overflows and some exceptions
thrown.
The exception type tells us what we are dealing with: 0xe0434f4d
For the uninitiated: this an exception type exclusively thrown by .NET common
language runtime (CLR).
Using my specially hacked wine to run tools like windbg one can get a raw
estimate by looking at native method callstack:

--- snip ---
Some native method call in GetNativeTextInfo() seems to be the culprit.
For many (string) resource based stuff to work, a unicode OS casing table is
required.
The table for the invariant version is built from external .NLS file.
To make story short: wine does not ship the default case mapping table for
unicode characters: "l_intl.nls".
This is a "must" requirement and failure results in early
TypeInitializationException while setting up default application domain.
Short fix: copy the file from your windows system32 directory to wine system32.
Long run fix: let wine generate/install this file. Not a big deal.
Now simple .NET _console_ based apps (like "Hello World") will work.
---------------------------------------
Stay tuned, more goodies to come ...

Summary: .NET Framework 1.1 installer requires loadperf.dll in
case of AeDebug -> Auto=0 (unhandled exception dialog)

example patch to add loadperf.dll and simple UnloadPerfCounterTextStringsW stub
preventing .NET 1.1 installer exception
Hello,
VS.NET 7.x installers modify AeDebug which results in error message box from
.NET Framework 1.1 installer due to an unhandled exception.
With default AeDebug Auto=1 and standalone .NET 1.1 installation you won't
notice it because this exception doesn't affect overall "success" result of
installer.
You can capture output from console to see winedbg actually spawned.
VS.NET 7.x installers add/modify the following JIT debugging keys:
--- snip ---
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug\Debugger
Auto: 1 -> 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\DbgManagedDebugger
Default: cordbg.exe !a 0x%x8
--- snip ---
Extract from .msi file:

_VS_Debugging___VS7JIT_____X86.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8)
..
--- snip ---
You can simulate the behaviour on clean ~/.wine if you manually set
AeDebug/Auto=0 (default is 1) and then execute the standalone .NET 1.1
installer.

Crash trace
A small app (named rech_pb.exe) to query a database "written" with filemaker
pro 8.5 shows empty dropdown menus, and can crash pretty easily when used ; it
shows many :
fixme:ole:OleQueryLinkFromData (0x13a448),stub!
and many :
fixme:font:SetMapperFlags (0x8258, 0x00000000): stub - harmless
An older version of the same app "written" with filemaker pro 6.0 works
correctly, but shows many :
fixme:ole:OleQueryLinkFromData (0x13a448),stub!
so I guess those warnings are pretty harmless, but the "harmless" ones aren't
that much.
See the attached log of a crash of the newer version.

(I don't trust realy in this result - so I include some screenshots and some
testdatas.)
The application was working with the databases until the wine-version v1.1.37.
Steps to reproduce the crash:
1.) database 'tanzkalender' (description is in English, data in German)
2.) click on the button 'call HTML-Export'
3.) crash - you can see the new, just loaded layout in the background.
The button 'call HTML-Export' calls a script which load a new layout with the
datas of the actual datatable.

Terminal log beginning in an exception
Filemaker Pro 11 is crashing during normal use. It's intermittent - sometimes I
can use it the whole day without problems, sometimes it halts in less than 10
minutes. But I still can't tell whether a specific activity causes it.
When it crashes, even if Filemaker isn't focused, the database window always
stays on top, until Filemaker is forcefully closed.
There is a pop-up error message, which can only be read by manually setting it
on top (right-clicking its taskbar icon and selecting "always on top").
I'm attaching a partial Terminal log. I can't get it full because it's bigger
than the Terminal buffer. But I was lucky to apparently get everything from the
exception on, and this is what I attached here.

Cspro get hang when pressing key or mouse during popup selection (selcase

How to test:
1. download cspro here http://www.census.gov/ipc/www/cspro/
2. Run Cspro 4.0 program
3. Open file/application, goto examples/capi
4. BUG 1. you will see that the icon in the left are black. Different when you
see it in native windows.
5. BUG-2. now, run the program, from the menu file->run. Just clik ok on every
prompt or enter everything. On roster screen, enter only one line, and leave
blank in the second row, to directly end the data entry, you will see yes/no
popup, just klik or press up/down arrow, then cspro will hang.
Screenshot can be see here
http://sites.google.com/site/iipumarrifai2/wine-cspro-error1.jpg
I think this the only one problem I found in cspro, if this can be fix than it
will be gold in wine. And the problem is the same problem since wine Beta and
cspro 3.x, but I never send it to wine.
I'm running this on Linux Mint 8 (Ubuntu karmic)

With Windows Installer XML (WiX) toolset, you can create .msi packages.
The program light.exe creates these packages.
Light.exe succeeds both when run with wine's builtin msi.dll and with a native
msi.dll. However, the msi package produced with the builtin msi.dll does not
install on MS Windows (XP), while the one built with the native msi.dll does.
Apparently, light.exe fails without complaining, which makes it difficult to
pinpoint the problem. Nonetheless, looking at the produced .msi packages it
seems that there is something wrong with the Summary information.
I have attached a script to reproduce the problem.
Note, the storage warnings that light.exe produces can be get rid off by using
a native ole32.dll, but that does not appear to affect this bug.

http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2007-November/046456.html
talks about two changes needed to get it closer to running.
It seems to have been dropped, so here's one of the two bugs
it reports:
Running light.exe from wix on a wixobj file with a non-versioned
file as a component prints a diagnostic error indicating
ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND using wine's builtin of version.dll and msi.dll,
but ERROR_RESOURCE_DATA_NOT_FOUND using wine's builtin of msi.dll and
native version.dll.
... version.dll's GetFileVersionInfoSizeW does return
ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND when trying to get the version of a file that
does not contain a version (for example, a text file). This is
because it relies on VERSION_GetFileVersionInfo_16 to do the file
existance check, which returns 0 (meaning file does not exist) if
LoadLibrary16 fails.
The patch addresses this by making VERSION_GetFileVersionInfo_16
return 0xFFFFFFFF (meaning file exists but does not have version) if
LoadLibrary16 returns an error beside ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND.

that works fine in Vista and in wine. When that worked in Vista, but not in
wine, I tried the download from instruction 1.1 which contains the launcher,
but got the same problem (and that version too works in Vista).
Whether I run Starcraft with the downloaded launcher or not (wine Launcher.exe
vs wine StarCraft.exe) everything works fine except when I select the iCCup
battle.net server - I get to see a distorted login screen for a fraction of a
second, then the screen blacks out. Alt-tabbing to the console used to launch
wine shows the backtrace, and ctrl+c cleans up the blacked-out screen, but wine
keeps running until killed.

Wine version is 1.3.9, compiled with no parameters on Fedora 13.
Installing dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe downloaded from the MS website, the
installer will open and verify the integrity of files. The next stage will
attempt to install the .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile. Towards the end of
this install the installer will fail with HRESULT 0x80070643, leaving little or
no information in the %TEMP% folder as to the cause.
The installer will only run if wine is set to WinXP.
Process used to reproduce:
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 sh winetricks gecko
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 sh winetricks windowscodecs ie7 msxml3
WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 wineboot
WINEDEBUG=+relay WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-net40 wine
Downloads/net40/dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe &> net-out
I also attempted to install the .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile prior to
installing the Full package. This provides the same error, the only difference
to the above process used was the filename of the Client Profile installer
dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe.
Each time I attempted to install I used a clean WINEPREFIX, deleting the prior
one before attempting again.

Summary: OPML displays error on startup; mshtml's ShowHTMLDialog
too stubby
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT
Platform: Other
URL: http://support.opml.org/download
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-shdocvw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com

says Dave Winer really wants OPML working well on Linux,
so I had a look.
First problem: on startup, it tries to run
some javascript that runs a dll function. It fails with an
error dialog, and wine complains
fixme:mshtml:ShowHTMLDialog ((nil) 0x1959980 (nil) L"help: no" 0x7bdfadc4)
Second problem: any time it tries to display a web page,
it does start up your web browser, but the resulting page is
blank (perhaps it can't pass the URL to the browser).

I can't input data into quickbooks after it is installed. I can open it but it
complains about a file missing even after the installation. I'm not to sure
about specifics of it but I did do a warn+all output which I will attach.
Please advise me how you would want this bugreport adjusted when you look at
the output.

Quickbooks 2008/2009's installer has an optional critical update checker.
The updater successfully downloads the "update list" but hangs when attempting
to download the updates themselves.

QuickBooks Pro 2007/2008 free trial,
QB2007-08Trial.exe, 120921088 bytes, sha1sum
54bdcc52db69a73d3e6bfaa6626f994031b69935
http://www.quicken.com.au/BusinessFinance/QuickBooksPro/trial.aspx
gives the trial key as 846120363241002110143.
To install and start, you need to do
sh winetricks vcrun6 fakeie6 msxml3
(that's bug 5415).
Modulo a stray warning dialog about a missing file,
you can try to use the app. Choosing "open a
sample file" and then one of the samples
loads, but starts a stunningly rapid
memory leak. You have just a few seconds before
the app is using gigabytes of memory.
The app is unresponsive, too.
