As long it is not always reproducible, it is not this bug. I'm experiencing the
bug after each wine update (including 1.3.13), and the workaround patch is
fixing the problem each time. So I'm pretty sure you are experiencing another
one.
Try to look for another bug or submit a new one...

Then that would mean you're not experiencing this (font related) bug because

None of the patches or hacks here work anymore. Disabling gameoverlayrenderer
and disabling Steam Community In-Game has no effect. Setting Windows version to
win98 or winnt no longer have any effect.
Using the latest git on Debian Squeeze.

I found a bug in wine 1.2.2 (I work with ubuntu 10.10). When we have a combobox
which have a label on top, wine recalculate the position of the rectangle
because posChanging->cy is taller than newComboHeight.
Then, The combobox can be hidden by the label.
You can found the file combo.c in dlls/user32/combo.c

Summary: directx9 clobbers dotnet20 (mscoree)
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.13
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: mscoree
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: scdeimos+bugs.winehq.org(a)gmail.com
Created an attachment (id=33318)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=33318)
Steps to reproduce the problem.
SETUP:
Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat
wine-1.3.13
winetricks 20110123
PROBLEM:
After using "winetricks directx9" users may see the following error message
whenever they start a wine application:
The program mscorsvw.exe has encountered a serious problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
The started application is (usually) unaffected.
CAUSE:
The last couple of lines of winetricks' load_directx9() function are:
# reenable mscoree, or other installs may fail, see issue 25
w_override_dlls builtin,native mscoree
Doing this, however, clobbers mscoree as used by .NET Framework 2.0. Whenever
you try to start Wine (even for something like wine regedit) the ".NET Runtime
Optimization Service v2.0.50727_X86" service fails to start with the following
error message:
The program mscorsvw.exe has encountered a serious problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
WORKAROUND:
Start winecfg, go to the Libraries tab and change the override from "*mscoree
(builtin, native)" to "*mscoree (native)". The error message goes away.
REPRODUCING:
See attachment.

AFAIK, the gateway has not been functional in the time I have been here (since
2008). IMO, it should remain closed and the links removed from the website. The
Usenet group is unmonitored and overrun by spam. See bug 26144.

Status: NEW

ReportedBy: damjan.jov(a)gmail.com
According to the MSDN
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms724498(VS.85).aspx), in the registry
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT is a merged view of 2 registry locations:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes.
My tests show that, under Wine, only HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes gets
merged into HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
Some applications install registry keys only under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes. These keys won't appear in the merged view,
and will be missed by tools that look at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
Simple test to reproduce:
Start regedit
Make a new key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes
Look at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT - it isn't there

BBC BASIC for Windows:
http://www.bb4w.com/
Plus, importantly, applications compiled using that language. That's part of
the problem: there is an ever-growing number of applications that use
GetBoundsRect, because they're created in BBC BASIC!
It's perhaps also worth mentioning that GDI+ supports GetBoundsRect too; GDI+
drawing functions update the bounding rectangle just the same as GDI drawing
functions do.

After doing ./configure --without-pthread and make, I get compile errors as
below.
I need without-pthread because I'm compiling for old hardware that's running a
2.4 Linux kernel and cannot be upgraded to 2.6.
Wine 1.2 and Wine 1.3.13 won't compile, but Wine 1.0 compiles OK (although I
have not yet been able to test the resulting binary on the target kernel).

Please disregard my last comment. I had installed riched20 through winetricks
and had not set back the global defaults.
However, the main font for e-Sword DOES change with Options -> Main Font. This
changes the font for the ENTIRE program. And the EM_FORMATRANGE fixme messages
still appear. Will have to change the message for this as it says "stub" and
it should say "Not Implemented."

Also, text is properly formatted in the Main text window for e-Sword and the
print preview function appears to work properly.
Wine was build using the osxwinebuilder application created by R. Woodshall and
used Wine tar.bz2 downloaded from a Wine mirror.

Errors no longer occur with Wine 1.3.13 although there is no proper
implementation in riched20 for the EM_FORMATRANGE function.

Which HOME version are you looking at? I don't recall seeing this key used, but
it's been a while since I looked into it. Googled the GUID, and it relates to
disk things, so I could be mistaken.

Yes, I found an alternative workaround that involves copying registry
entries:
0. Attach the device to a Windows machine.
1. Navigate to this key:
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses\{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}
and find the subkey that has TomTom somewhere in the name. Export it.
2. Navigate to this key: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR
and find the subkey that has TomTom somewhere in the name. Export it.
3. Export this key: HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices
and edit the reg file to contain only the value that corresponds
to your TomTom device. In my case this is \\DosDevices\\D:
4. Import the registry keys in Wine.
It's looking up a device identifier through setupapi and tries to match
it to the value found under the MountedDevices key for a particular
(removable) drive.
On Wine the relevant setupapi functions are implemented but the registry
keys they query are not populated yet when a new device is attached. And
the values under the MountedDevices key are currently filled with
the targets of the drive symlinks under ~/.wine/dosdevices instead
of device identifiers.

Well, Renault cars don't come with long USB cords. It's kind of logical that
they use another mechanism for updates (SD card). But a ONE can and is detected
via USB. See my earlier post, HOME is spelunking the USB bits of the registry.

Interesting. It does make the difference here and my device is a TomTom
ONE. If I create a dummy filesystem TomTom HOME detects the device and
the app is very much usable; I was able to update the device for example.
If I remove the file detection fails again. Perhaps there's a second file
that's also sufficient for detection of the device.

So if I create a small ext2 filesytem and copy it there the app finally
detects the device:
$ dd if=/dev/zero of=ext2.img count=1024 bs=4096
$ mkfs.ext2 ext2.img
$ cp ext2.img /media/INTERNAL/loopdir/ext3_loopback
The app bundles e2fsck.exe and it looks like it's only interested in
getting a clean filesystem check. I don't understand why this file isn't
present on my device though.

Created an attachment (id=33254)

kernel32: Implement GetVolumePathNamesForVolumeName.
I created a drive D: with winecfg and pointed it to /media/INTERNAL
(the place where the TomTom device is mounted on my machine). Then I set
its type to 'Floppy disk'. This means Wine will report the drive as a
removable drive, which is what TomTom HOME is looking for.
With this configuration and the attached patch the app proceeds to read
from the device:
Call KERNEL32.CreateFileW(00e9b458
L"D:\\loopdir\\ext3_loopback",80000000,00000003,0033dee4,00000003,00000080,00000000)
The call fails because that file is not present.

No. We _might_ get support for linux with the web interface with the new Tomtom
GO 100x series.
But all older models are still supported and will only be supported by Tomtom
Home.
And it's quite clear by now there'll never be any release of Tomtom Home for
Linux since:
- it's for older models
- they've ignored all petitions for years
So we still need to get the final bits of support for Tomtom Home in wine.
Is there any wine developer who would like to get a tomtom GPS?

Re-installing Wine 1.0 fixed the issue.

A few responses:
Adding a \\.\Volume{...} isn't enough. That list includes all drives, including
normal USB sticks etcetera. HOME cross-checks it against TomTom USB devices to
figure out the DOS path to the right USB device.
TomTom has been asked in the past to make a Linux version of HOME2. This hasn't
happened yet. One has to wonder if this is going to change, consideing that the
newest Go series (1000/1005) doesn't use HOME anymore. Instead new content is
uploaded to the device from the webbrowser. The site for this is under active
development, but doesn't use hacks like ActiveX. So it's quite possible Linux
support will become a lot easier.
As for devices, I've got no doubt that a serious developer could get a device
from TomTom for free.

Hi,
Without the high resolution patch, it will not even start up.
With the high resolution patch, it does start up.
In the FO2 'ddraw.ini' file added by the high resolution patch, Mode=4,
fullscreen dx9, and mode=5, windowed dx9.
Both result in a white screen on my system (codeweavers 9.2, OS X), just like
the native OS X port (for PPC).
Please try changing the Mode in ddraw.ini in FO2 to use dx9 mode and see what
happens for you.
Otherwise in default mode I get the unplayably slow graphical lag. (push an
arrow key and watch it sluggishly re-draw the screen as it scrolls)

Okay, sorry for getting that wrong.
> A better way to get this game working OK is using the opengl ddraw renderer. At
least if your driver works OK and fast enough with that(it should work with the
nvidia binary driver)
Is it possible that the software fallback for opengl rendering is causing the
slowdown (e.g. on low-spec intel cards like i945)?

For those whom are complaining about the lag, do you use the resolution patch?
I tried today with the GOG version of the game, the unofficial patch and the
high resolution patch, and with a 1680*1050 resolution the game is indeed very,
very slow.

I worked around that with 'winetricks vcrun6'.
The game then started up and was somewhat playable.
On startup, the game complained
"Unable to play video."
You could click past it, but it was still annoying.
I worked around that with 'winetricks wmp9 quartz devenum'.
Even if we have to install wmp, it'd be nice if wine's quartz

It's been labelled as fixed for a couple of reasons:
* trigger-happy maintainers that mark bugs as fixed without asking if the
problem has been resolved (e.g. comment #45)
* testing to see if this bug still exists is tricky. I have a suspicion that my
comment #48 was incorrect, because I have also observed slowdowns (but to a
lesser degree) since then
Stefan's patch has not been implemented because the wine architecture has
changed a fair amount since then. I have some vague feeling that fixing bug 421
will be a good canary for when the drawing architecture has stabilised.

This bug does not seem to be fixed. I still get big slowdowns with cursor
flickering on recent versions of Wine (for instance 1.3.13). The game runs much
better in Wine 0.9.51 with Dösinger's patch.
(Note that running the game in 16bpp helps, but not at all as much as
Dösinger's patch.)
Has Dösinger's patch not been implemented? Why has this bug been label as
fixed?

This patch is bugged; while vertex shaders in general seem to be fixed,
there're some weird graphical glitches like hands and fingers being detached or
a morphed body (like a moving snake) not having one body, but many detached and
straight body parts.
Also, when will this bug be fixed? It shouldn't be too had to update the wine
source finally...

The game becomes unresponsive after I launched a singleplayer game. Both the

How to reproduce the issue in the demo:
1) you will need 'winetricks d3dx9_36 dsoundbug9612' before launching the game.
2) In the main menu click on single player, then choose a nation on the map and
click on <PLAY>. The map will be loaded but the game becomes unresponsive
instantly after that.

Installing safesign_icbc_per.exe
safesign_icbc_per.exe is the driver installer for G&D USB-Shield. G&D
USB-Shield is the usbkey for ICBC online bank.
The download page is here: http://goo.gl/yqL5w
There are several drivers, the one I have tested is http://goo.gl/QmnFq .
While installing safesign_icbc_per.exe, the installer is crashing.
Here are the steps:
1. install mfc42 with winetricks (safesign_icbc_per.exe required mfc42)
$ winetricks -q mfc42
2. install safesign_icbc_per.exe
$ wine safesign_icbc_per.exe
There will be an Error Dialog says,
" The program regsvr32.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close
"
Attachment is the full log.
If I install crypt32.dll with winetricks to replace wine builtin crypt32 , then
there is no crash.

Also have tried with earlier versions, same thing. And although it says

anyone have any idea what's the thing with this?

movement and the subsequent board update). This problem can be usually fixed as
follows: 1) open the Windows Display Properties (right click on your desktop
and select "Properties"), 2) select the "Settings" tab (where you can change
the screen resolution, color quality, ...), 3) press the "Advanced" button, 4)
select the "Troubleshoot" (or "Performance") tab and 5) decrease the hardware
acceleration by one step."
No way to do something similar in wine.
Propriety nvidia drivers are installed.

Summary: Mirror's Edge crashes when loading the first mission
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.10
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jeff(a)deserettechnology.com
Mirror's Edge crashes when loading the first mission that occurs after
training. Training works fine, but an XIO error crashes the game after loading
the first mission:
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0"
after 2129 requests (2129 known processed) with 0 events remaining.
I'm launching from Steam. I attempted to bisect and tested 1.3.0, 1.3.5,
1.3.10, and today's HEAD, 12880784fe, but all of these produce the same
results. I didn't go back further because my understanding is that if I go back
much further Steam won't work anymore.
I am using nvidia 260.19.29, GeForce GTX 285, Linux 2.6.36.2.
Let me know what WINEDEBUG flags to use and I'll post logs. This may be the
same as bug 23055.
