Summary: EVE online planets and planetary interaction icons
fail to render correctly after 1.1.41
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.41
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rcxdude(a)gmail.com
after wine 1.1.41, planets in EVE online (and some other effects) do not render
correctly - instead of an atmospheric glow a flat colour is shown. This is not
particularly important but in the latest test version of the client the icons
for the new planetary interaction feature do not appear at all, making this
part of the game unplayable.
I was able to bisect this to the commit:
[4cd69b8a097f16012f5c6ba3a6237df3495fba97] wined3d: Simplify the generated GLSL
for NRM.
and reversing the changes made there on the latest version of wine in git fixed
both the planet's atmospheres and the icons.
However, this appears to be graphics card dependent. I am using an NVIDIA
7950GT, while this bug was reported not to appear to occur on an NVIDIA GTX 275
(at least the planetary interaction icons appeared)
I have no idea what the above change does, but it appears to be incorrect in
some cases.

Summary: CHL Network application fails to start with executable

Product: Wine

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal

With 1.1.7, when attempting to start the application, a cryptic dialog box
displays with the message, "Failed to ensure dir exists: \desktop",
irrespective of the location of the executable in what would be the Z:\ Windows
drive. If moved to ~/.wine/drive_c (C:\), the application is able to start,
although it requires Windows Media Player 9. No relevant terminal output was
noted.

Summary: Eve Online: Incursion 1.x doesn't start with fglrx
8.81.5 (catalyst 11.1)
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.13
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3dx9
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vladimir(a)slate-project.org
CC: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Steps to reproduce:
1) Install Catalyst 11.1 driver (released 27th Jan '11)
2) Install EVE Online Incursion 1.1 from their website
3) Install corefonts from winetricks
4) Launch EVE online, and get a crash just after it loads the jukebox, with a
stacktrace leading to fglrx_dri.so
System information:
Ubuntu 10.10, kernel 2.6.35-26, wine 1.3.13 from the wine PPA on launchpad
Radeon HD5870 1GB, AMD Phenom X6 1050T
I did get EVE to launch on both 1.1.1 and 1.1.1 client update while following
the information in
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1464799&page=1#3 but
once it updated to client update 2 it didn't work any more, no matter how I
tweaked settings.
To clarify, EVE started up with 1.1.0 version and a vanilla wine setup with the
following winetricks things:
corefonts
ddr=opengl
glsl-disable
orm=fbo
winxp
gecko
vcrun2005
I will be trying to reinstall again and see precisely which configuration seems
to work. In no way however does EVE run for me just with corefonts installed.
Attached is the first and last 1000 lines of the log. The whole log was
obtained by running:
export WINEDEBUG="+dinput,+d3d9,+d3dx"
env WINEPREFIX="${HOME}/.wine" wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1920x1080
C:\\Program\ Files\\CCP\\EVE\\eve.exe

After selecting a program to install and completing the download process, the
installer fails with "an unknown error occurred". The exact procedure I've used
is this:
1. Run winetricks dotnet30
2. Set Windows version to Win7 in winecfg
3. Run the installer, selecting any one program
4. Wait for the download to complete, and the error should appear

issues without OffscreenRenderingMode set
Hello,
I am trying to run Gothic 3 1.7 on wine-1.1.17 using Ubuntu 8.10 (amd64).
My video card is: NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M
Nvidia driver version: 180.29
I tried multiple OffscreenRenderingMode settings but all have graphic issues.
I will attach a screenshot of each.
The first screenshot shows the issues that occur when no OffscreenRenderingMode
has been set in the registry.
