Summary: CoreAudio driver broken
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Mac OS X 10.5
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major

Entire console output while running winecfg
I cannot seem to get the CoreAudio driver to work. Sound is nonexistant, and
it crashes winecfg:
When trying to run winecfg, I click on the "audio" tab, and the winecfg window
goes blank and the application stops responding. In the console, when I click
the tab, I get the error:
err:midi:CoreAudio_MIDIInit can't create wineMIDIClient
Prior to clicking on the audio tab and crashing, I get the
"err:midi:CoreAudio..." and a back trace. The entire output is attached.
Here's the sequence of events in summary:
I launch winecfg, and get the "err:midi:CoreAudio...", and a backtrace.
Then, I click the audio tab, and I get another "err:midi:CoreAudio...", and the
program without updating the window.
In previous versions of wine (last I tried was 0.9.33), this did not happen,
and sound output worked.

Date: Fri Oct 29 12:25:18 2010 +0200
wined3d: Don't flip the coordinate system in set_blit_dimension().
causes the complete screen to be upside down as soon as the game is entered,
but not while in the menus. The position of the picture in picture rectangle
mentioned in that other bug is still at the bottom left and its content is
correct (hence you could play the game looking solely at the tiny picture...).
Wait, text at the bottom and the score and icons at the top are drawn
correctly, so it's not the entire screen that's upside down, it's only the 3D
part (i.e. almost everything).
Curiously, hitting the esc key to access the on-screen menu redraws the screen
normally. (Perhaps the app takes a screenshot and draws the menu in that
bitmap?). Resume the game and the scene is upside down again.
In newer versions checked during regression testing, the situation was a little
different: the screen would sometimes flip at certain camera positions, but be
upside down most of the time. In 1.3.18, it's constantly upside down.

error messages from the console during app startup
Hi,
unfortunately, there's some random race condition affecting 3D apps on MacOS
upon startup.
- I've attached 2 logs from the start of FIFA WC'06. One shows an error, the
other not. Fortunately, the apps starts despite this error.
xp_destroy_surface: assertion failed: s != ((void *)0)
err:d3d:CreateContext Cannot activate context to set up defaults
- As I wrote in AppDB test results about 2weistein, "when the in-game
resolution setting is higher than the virtual desktop's at startup, a race
condition sometimes causes only the upper left of the enlarged desktop window
to be used."
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=17196
- Yesterday I ran "make -j2" to keep the CPU% of both CPU max'ed. Suddenly,
Lego Star Wars started in full screen (1600x1200) on the Mac, which I had never
seen before with any wine app. This happened despite using an 800x600 desktop
window mode.
Alas, the screen went black, except for the X11 menu bar and the "always in
foreground" CPU metering window (also visible in TimeMachine's full screen).
Then a requester appeared: "Nu2Api Runtime Error!
c:\projects\nu2api.legopc\nuwin32\d3dcore.cpp Line: 659
Description: failed to find suitable refresh rate for current resolution"
(See also bug #20045 about being unable to switch resolutions)
Using OSX 10.5.7 with XQuartz 2.3.3.2 on NVidia 9400M.
BTW, please add Mac OSX 10.6 to AppDB's OS list (and eliminate 10.2 or 10.3 as
only Intel is supported which AFAIK started with 10.4).

broken. It has a lot of glitches and crashes very often. If it crashes, I have
to select another Sound Device in the StarCraft settings to enable the sound
again.
Pre 1.3.19 using a mmdevapi override (disabled) was enough to enable sound.
I report this using ALSA as my sound driver. eSound actually works pretty well
but has a latency of about 0.6 - 0.8 seconds which is very anoying

When starting the current version of the game (v1.30) I'm getting a warning
from the game that it can't communicate with it's website.
This prevents the game from
- receiving updates
- finding on-line tournaments
- keeping track of high scores etc.
Previous versions of the game (prior to v1.29) have no such problem when
running under Wine.
To reproduce the problem in the demo:
1) Download the demo from the linked url. A standalone patch (1.30) is also
available but it is not mandatory to download because the problem can be
reproduced in v1.29, too.
2) Install the demo as usual then start the game by ../Bin/ClonesGame.exe.
Create a new profile.
3) In the main menu a notification should pop up about available updates (if
you wait for a couple of seconds.) Alternatively, click on <Tournaments>, <Find
Tournament>...a message is shown claiming that the game can't get the servers'
list (check your internet connection or firewall settings...)
Native wininet doesn't help.
The same problem with disabled iptables (just to be sure it's not a firewall
issue).

Hello! I have the following problem affecting Lineage II (maybe also other
games, that use fullscreen mode)
In wine versions prior 1.1.3 when maximizing window it just takes all available
desktop space (excluding panels and such). Starting from 1.1.3 on maximize
event app going fullscreen but on exiting this mode (through Alt+Enter) window
decorations are not restored (tested in gnome with metacity, kde with kwin and
compiz with emerald). Also on entering fullscreen mode second monitor goes
blank if I have one enabled (video mode sets to whatever I have on main
monitor).
I use nVidia 8800GT video card with 173.14.12 drivers. Tested on KDE 3.5.9,
GNOME 2.22 and Compiz 0.7.6, with TwinView enabled and disabled.
Through regression testing I've found the commit that introduces the problem:
----------------------------
commit aca0296879dbf634013ea4e08319daf26e45d8db
Author: Alexandre Julliard <julliard(a)winehq.org>
Date: Thu Jul 31 17:11:28 2008 +0200
winex11: Check for wm maximized state in ConfigureNotify and update the
window state accordingly.
----------------------------
It is possible to revert to the old behaviour? At least app should not switch
to fullscreen on maximize. Or, if this is requested by app itself, maybe there
is some way to force it not to go fullscreen but just resize?
Best Regards

Wine 1.1.20 console output
WMP9 is needed by a number of other Windows apps.
WMP9 causes two unhandled exceptions that could be safely ignored, but Wine
1.1.20 has introduced a "Program Error" dialog in winedbg. This dialog shows
twice every time any app is run under Wine.
To recreate:
1. winetricks -q wmp9
2. winecfg
Although this is a new feature, I guess it's technically a regression.
Two options: 1. Fix the exceptions or 2. Remove the dialog from winedbg.

The dropbox besides "Country/Region" has no content and you can not enter
anything. And because of this you can not continue the install-process.

commit 3a63552fd1880c973f28baf8f9f7a29fd24d1412

wined3d: Skip some unnecessary FBO binds.
sounds innocent, but causes a curious effect: the screen freezes always at the
same position, in a scene one can reach roughly 5 minutes after starting the
first level. It happens when the camera starts zooming onto the tunnel whose
door Leia unlocked by moving 2 boxes.
Pressing Esc to enter the (OSD) menu does not unblock the screen.
However the app is not dead. Once one moves back (despite the frozen display),
away from the tunnel, everything works perfectly once again. One can return to
the rooms previously visited.
The app gets a garbage rating with that regression, because the frozen screen
prevents progression to the next level. OTOH, wine-1.1.24 deserves
silver-gold. The bug is still present in wine-1.1.40.
Using MacOS X 10.5.8 with NVidia 9400 graphics. IIRC, but perhaps I used an
older version, Ubuntu with Intel i915 graphics is not affected (it has no FBO
AFAIK?), but the Intel is too slow generally for this app.
I have attached no log because the console shows nothing distinguishing.
Unable to load NVCPL.dll [not seen on Intel]
