Bug #: 28900
Summary: Jedi Academy Multiplayer Mouse regression in 1.3.x
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.31
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: newfie.bugreporting(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
Tested on two completely different machines with different Linux distros
(Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 15 x64).
There have been some mouse issues which prevent JKA (only testing multiplayer)
from being playable. Starting at around 1.3.14 the mouse has been completely
broken- the cursor randomly freezes and darts around the screen every few
seconds. This issue has largely been fixed, but there are still lingering
issues in 1.3.31.
Compared to the last time I tried WINE beta (1.3.22?) this has improved lots
but is still not playable. Instead of the mouse freezing entirely, it just
feels "lagged" and sort of chops around the screen every other second. The
amount of mouse movement and precision in JA's multiplayer makes playing under
these conditions impossible. The problem is most noticeable on menus, where the
mouse *does* still freeze and slow down dramatically. Additionally, the mouse
movement seems to get worse and worse the longer the game is played.
Nutshell..
Expected experience: The mouse should be perfectly smooth like on Windows.
Actual experience: The mouse stutters, lags, and locks up for brief periods
making it impossible to play the game.
I appreciate any sort of feedback or comments on this. There are a growing
number of Linux users in the JKA community who would love to see this fixed
before 1.4 goes stable Just to clarify, this isn't a "fix me now!" request.
Keep up the great work.

Still a bug in current wine?

Moving out of component 'cmd' because the problem revolves around how the
server opens files and is nothing to do with cmd.exe really. I've picked
wineserver based on comments 13-21

> please test with latest wine version 1.5.8
Again, nobody has touched MSVCRT_fputwc for ages and this is not a bug that can
be fixed accidentally.
Look at comment #14, it even gives you a working patch. And it has to be done
_exactly_ this way.

Bug #: 32225
Summary: LoadLibrary succeeds when it should fail
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.17
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: kernel32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: djelinski1(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
I was checking how .NET handles ODBC connections under wine. I used winetricks
jet40 mdac28 dotnet20 to install natives. Then I run my application. An attempt
to use OdbcConnection failed with some unixODBC error. The relay log showed the
following:
0009:Call KERNEL32.LoadLibraryExW(001a9b68
L"C:\\windows\\assembly\\GAC_32\\System.Data\\2.0.0.0__b77a5c561934e089\\odbc32.dll",00000000,00000008)
ret=79e862c8
0009:Call PE DLL (proc=0x7dde42c0,module=0x7ddd0000
L"odbc32.dll",reason=PROCESS_ATTACH,res=(nil))
0009:Call KERNEL32.DisableThreadLibraryCalls(7ddd0000) ret=7ddde814
0009:Ret KERNEL32.DisableThreadLibraryCalls() retval=00000001 ret=7ddde814
(...)
0009:Ret PE DLL (proc=0x7dde42c0,module=0x7ddd0000
L"odbc32.dll",reason=PROCESS_ATTACH,res=(nil)) retval=1
0009:Ret KERNEL32.LoadLibraryExW() retval=7ddd0000 ret=79e862c8
The listed directory does not contain odbc32.dll, so this call should have
failed. Instead it loaded wine's ODBC.
On a side note, setting odbc32 to native instead of native, builtin worked.
