Steam gets as far as asking if you want to take the hardware
server, and then crashes. +relay shows that right before the seh:
there was an assertion failure and some calls that probably referenced
a font. Sure enough, doing 'sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer'
worked around the problem.

In the login process in final fantasy xiv, sometimes the launcher crashes.
It happens roughly nine times out of ten, and possibly at every stages of the

think the secur32/schannel component is in fault. The error given is:

I would like to propose merging multiple game version into one, there is too
many of them and its hard to keep track (especially bugs that affects all
versions like 29142 or 17015 are usually only inserted in few of them).
Specifically:
I would like to versions "1.0", "1.01.012", "1.02", "1.03.021", "1.04", "1.05",
"1.15", "1.165" and "1.181" being merged into 1.x,
Also merge "1.03 - Entrenchment", "1.041 - Entrenchment" into "1.05 -
Entrenchment" it will be renamed to 1.x - Entrenchment.
Trinity version and Diplomacy should stay as is (maybe only rename to be
consisted with the other changes). This will reduce current 16 versions to just
5, making it simpler to manage howtos, find useful stuff in comments keep bug
list up to date etc...
I'll contact via AppDB all other maintainers so they can voice their opinions.

to load properly, but when the "OK" button appears, it doesn't react to mouse

Summary: EVE Online doesn't launch with default settings
Product: Wine
Version: 1.4
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: phoenix(a)mail.ru
Classification: Unclassified
I encountered this issue with EVE Online game, so will use it as example. Repro
steps:
1) Download following files (more than 5 GB if i remember correctly):
http://content.eveonline.com/351477/EVE_Online_Installer_351477.exehttp://content.eveonline.com/351477/eveonline_351477_1of2.7zhttp://content.eveonline.com/351477/eveonline_351477_2of2.7z
2) Run installer. Given that payload files are in the same folder, it should
run smoothly.
3) Attempt to launch EVE/bin/ExeFile.exe with default settings
Result:
In my case it prints generic runtime error, but saw multiple reports that R6034
error is printed. Game crashes during loading process.
Resolutions used in community:
msvcr100 library is added to overrides with builtin then native load order.
Additional data:
msvcr100.dll and msvcp100.dll libraries are included in EVE/bin folder.
Installing vcrun2010 through wintricks doesn't work around this issue
Few speculations:
Most likely it has to do something with library loading specification. Probably
wine requires MSVC 2010 runtime libraries to be loaded via manifest only. While
it seems to be true for 2005 and 2008, according to MSDN:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235560(v=vs.80).aspxhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms235560(v=vs.90).aspx
There's no such specification and corresponding error code for 10.0 (2010).
These libraries should be allowed to be used by executable when placed into its
folder.

It looks like a wild pointer bug in the nvidia driver, but it could also
be a problem with valgrind or wine.
If it's a driver bug, we should report it upstream after testing with
the latest driver.
If it's not a valgrind bug, we should evaluate whether we should be calling the
driver more carefully somehow.
I'll attach an nvidia bug report log for completeness.

Noticed at Wineconf, Stefan asked me to upgrade drivers but the crash still
occurs.
I've narrowed the test down to test_fpu_setup(). The crash seems to be around
this call (in d3d9):
hr = IDirect3D9_CreateDevice(d3d9, D3DADAPTER_DEFAULT, D3DDEVTYPE_HAL, window,
D3DCREATE_HARDWARE_VERTEXPROCESSING | D3DCREATE_FPU_PRESERVE,
&present_parameters, &device);
ok(SUCCEEDED(hr), "CreateDevice failed, hr %#x.\n", hr);
the hardware is a bit old, so a test failure isn't unexpected, but a crash is
nasty..

In STO, the mouselook feature is completely unusable (both in space and ground
modes).
Holding the right-mouse button and moving the camera around causes the camera
view to jump around erratically, commonly leaving you with a view looking
directly down on your ship/person. This can make it very hard to play in space
battles (you can't move the camera to see your angle to opponents); potentially
suicidal in PvP.
Tested on Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha 2, with Wine 1.4rc1.

Wine is a third-party implementation of the Windows API.
It is *not* a reimplementation of the Windows operating system.
Why does Wine come with built-in clones of Windows software components such as
Notepad, Wordpad, Internet Explorer, etc?
It should use the host platforms' native text editor, word processor and web
browser.

I tried it and seems to be working well. You don't need a joystick to test,
after pressing randomly all keyboard keys I managed to get to the menu and
later into a battle.
My joystick only recognizes the left analogic, L1 and start buttons (PS2
controller through a usb adapter). Native linux applications work well with it,
maybe I'm missing some dinput stuff.

Summary: wined3d - TF2 suffers from black menu and missing UI
textures in dx9 mode
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.29
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Nephyrin(a)nephyrin.net
When starting TF2 in directx9 mode (that is, starting it normally, out of the
box), the menu is black (no background image) and there are no HUD elements in
game. Other than this, it appears to work fine and looks great in Dx9 mode, and
would be platinum status if you could see your UI.
Disabling pixelshaders in winecfg causes the game to load with a visible
background on the main menu, but the game immediately bails telling you your
graphics card is not able to run the game.
-dxlevel 81 forces the game into dx8 mode where everything works, but this is a
major visual quality regression.
