Bug #: 30117
Summary: patch for ddraw.c for SetCooperativelevel
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: alexey.kutumov(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
According to documentation for SetCooperativeLevel, flags DDSCL_NORMAL and
DDSCL_EXCLUSIVE, or DDSCL_FULLSCREEN cannot be set together. Wine`s
implementation is fully compatible with documentation, however exists at least
one game, which violates this restriction (Rig-n-roll 2, Dal`noboyshiki 2).
During startup this game tries to set coopLevel with following parameters:
DDSCL_FULLSCREEN DDSCL_ALLOWREBOOT DDSCL_NORMAL DDSCL_ALLOWMODEX
DDSCL_EXCLUSIVE.
Implementation of SetCooperativeLevel prohibits this mask (and returns with
DDERR_INVALIDPARAMS error), and game unable to start with message: "this
computer does not have graphics accelerator".
In attachment patch for function IDirectDrawImpl_SetCooperativeLevel, which
allows to run this application.

Severity: normal
Priority: P2

Steps to reproduce:
1. Download a XP theme, like Human for Windows [1] or Clearlooks for Windows XP

2. Run `winecfg`. In the "Desktop Integration" tab, install the theme, choose
it, and click "apply".
3. Switch between the tabs of winecfg and observe the performance. There is an
obvious lag when switching tabs, which is not present when "(No Theme)" is
chosen. Also, there is `fixme:msg:pack_message msg 14 (WM_ERASEBKGND) not

Sound corruption in Lord of the Rings Online. Occasionally, instead of a
monster sound or horse sound, the sound will just be digital garbage layered in
with the other sounds. It's not always the same sound, and not always for that
sound, just occasionally.
I know that's pretty vague.. I'll try to get some trace output, but wine
crashes occasionally (for other reasons - has on LotRO for a while) and I
wanted to get something entered to remind me before the machine tanked again.

that is the output. I'm not sure that I'm not seeing multiple bugs... reason
that I think it's related to the cdrom was before I started using the iso

This is the very similar to closed bug #13170. I am running a laptop freshly
updated to Fedora 11 x86. I tried uninstalling wine, the reinstalling it,
deleting my enitire ~/.wine tree then running winecfg. When I select the Audio
tab, I get a message to the effect that wine has automatically selected a sound
for me and that I need to click Apply to make this permanent. If I hit the
"Test Sound" button, I get the following messages on the terminal from which I
launched winecfg
270 roland> winecfg

or directory

with the last message repeated until winecfg hangs completely (no more
messages, but no response at all).
Killing and relaunching winecfg results in the same sequence.
However, if instead of clicking on "Test Sound" I click on "Apply", then
winecfg will still hang as above, but the *next* time I launch winecfg this
does not happen. I get only the following to lines
271 roland> winecfg
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file
or directory
ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457:(snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No such file

and the sound plays fine.

Summary: DC Universe Online fails to start with nVidia driver
295.20
Product: Wine
Version: 1.4-rc4
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: 6tsukiyami9(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
I'm not sure if this is a Wine or nVidia bug, but with the 295.20 driver DC
Universe Online's launcher fails to start, freezing at the first black loading
screen and using up to 100% one core, giving the error i attached.
Googling a bit, it may actually stop working because it doesn't detect any
graphic card's driver, but somehow other applications (both native and run
through wine) don't seem to have any problem. Downgrading nVidia drivers back
to 290.10 seemingly fixed this.
To reproduce this bug:
- Download the installer from here: http://www.dcuniverseonline.com/
- Install it
- Run Launchpad.exe
Then it should stop on the black rectangle with SOE logo, and on the shell
you'll see the xml dump.
About my OS, I'm running Debian Sid x86_64, wine version 1.4-rc4.

It's funny it's currently only happening on this one out of all 5-6 tried

start up and then stop with just a quick screen flash. It was hard to get any
information out of it, on one computer, it would make gnome-terminal disappear
and die when the game crashed. I tested this on another computer using
PlayonLinux to test it on all wine version(that I considered major) from 0.9.7
to current. The problem existed on all of them. Wine only spit out a few lines
of info when running it in a different terminal:

I tried to do a backtrace with gdb, but it didn't give me any useful
information, even when compiling with "-ggdb" as the instructions here suggest:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/qa/backtraces.xml
I'm running from a local build directory, and not from a gentoo install as
well, so nothing should be getting stripped.
This bug occurs with wine-1.5 but also with older versions such as wine-1.2. It
did not happen with my old system (Socket 775 E5200) but does with my new
system (Socket 1155 i5 2500k). Perhaps because the CPU is much more powerful
and so is causing some sort of timing issue, as strace or gdb allow it to run
sometimes, although it still may crash before entering a game, but after
launching the GUI. The operating system is mostly the same, although was
compiled for the new CPU with "-march=native". However, the older versions of
wine were compiled for my old system, so they shouldn't crash if that was the
issue.

Of course, but it's hard to implement/test if no one has the app ;).
Win95/Win98 aren't deprecated. DOS support is done using dosbox if available,
though there's still some DOS support, it's not fully removed yet.
