Bug #: 31617
Summary: Driver Y: and Z: required to make wine to work
properly
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: trizt(a)iname.com
Classification: Unclassified
The dosdrivers Y: (~/) and Z: (/) seems to be mandatory to make wine to work
properly, which can lead to file corruption and loss of data as well as
information leakage.
Files in ~/ can be deleted or written by wine, which can cause file corruption
or data loss and access to / (and ~/) can cause information leakage, so it
should be up to the user of wine to decide if they should have y:/z: without
sacrifacing the functionality of wine.

Summary: Final Fantasy VII fails to execute when native dinput
is used.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.5.12
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Linux

Backtrace of an unhandled exception.
When native dinput.dll is selected in the wine configuration menu Final Fantasy
VII fails to execute successfully, exiting with an unhandled exception.
The version of Final Fantasy VII in question is the new 2012 release. This
application can be run successfully by not using native dinput.dll. However,
gamepads do not work in game. The interesting thing is that in the launcher
program it is possible to interact with the controller settings menu using the
gamepad, yet these settings seem not to be in effect when the game proper
launches.
I've attached a copy of a back trace that results from the unhandled exception.

I have the Steam retail version of X3, Terran conflict and the latest release.
Last week I successfully connected my USB Logitech Rumble pad 2 and Saitek evo
Force and played X3 with both those controllers.
Since then due to issues caused by other games I had created a new Steam
install with winetricks, did all the native dll stuff to get the movies and
sounds going and X3 runs but now it won't detect any game controllers.
if I run dmesg in a terminal it sees both devices in linux but now the dropdown
box is empty in the X3 loader.
What could I possibly have had installed in the old prefix that I need to
install now so that the controllers can be used again?

Tried again. Now Wine 1.4 on Linux Mint 13 32-bit. Same error as before.
Nevertheless, this post says that on Windows XP 32-bit, it could work in
Windows 95 compatibility mode in 256 colors box checked and check turn off
advanced services.
I cannot test it at this moment. And I do know whether there is a equivalent
setting in Wine.

Summary: wine hitting OS X areas
Product: Wine
Version: 1.2.3
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Mac OS X
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: johnsankey(a)ncf.ca
1. I'm not sure whether it was before or after installing winetricks and mono,
but at some point the sleep function of OS X 10.6.8 was hit - now the computer
goes to sleep normally, but when a key is hit to awaken it, it turns the power
off instead. I can't use sleep until I reinstall OS X.
2. As soon as I tried to run wine's Internet Explorer, I got a heap of errors
(reported here). I also got the scroll button on the mouse disabled so I can no
longer scroll pages except with arrows and keyboard arrows. (Yes, I've reset
everything mouse in System Preferences - no change.)
Both of these impact use so severely I'm going to have to reinstall OS X, and
stop using wine if they reoccur.
