This is different from bug 9406.
With the sane test backend, Irfanview still crashes when attempting to scan.
The test backend works just fine with Picasa though.
To scan, select File -> Acquire/batch scanning. You can bypass bug 9404 by
removing gphoto2.ds.so.

Wine log - WINEDEBUG="-all,+winsock"
Hello,
I am trying to play AquadelicGT game under wine for long time - the game works
fine approx. from version 1.5.8 in single player mode if msxml4.dll is replaced
by native Windows DLL (As I wrote in AppDB -
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=18692 ).
But the game is still not working in multiplayer mode - there is displayed
message box "Socket error, code=10013" and game freezes every time when I try
to start "Join multiplayer game".
First I thought it can be related to CAP_NET_RAW problem - I tried set this
capability to game EXE files - Launcher.exe and Run.exe - but this does not
help.
Then I found bug 7929 - it looks similarly like my problem, so I waited for fix
of this bug. Bug 7929 was fixed in latest release 1.5.15, so I tried it today -
but the problem is still the same.
Wine log with debug setting WINEDEBUG="-all,+winsock" is included in
attachment.
(Note: The game itself is Run.exe file - but it (probably) cannot be started
directly, it is started via Launcher.exe file.)
Best regards,
Ales

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: u.dickow(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
When BridgeCentral 2.2.3 is logged in to a club database on the Internet, it
will be fatally hit by an "Invalid floating point operation" dialog box after
at most (and often exactly) 9 minutes of operation, i.e. 9 minutes after
opening of the main window displaying the very simple web page
http://bridge.dk/bridgecentral/nyheder/Welcome/Welcome.html . When you press
OK to the dialog box, the application is either completely confused and
unusable, or it immediately crashes with 2 more dialog boxes about Access
violation in mozjs.dll for read of an address, and the general wine "Serious
problem" box. The crash happens completely reproducibly if you just let the
application wait at the Welcome window after login and don't touch it.
"Unfortunately" (from a debugging point of view) the bug does _not_ appear when
BridgeCentral 2.2.3 uses only a local database, without any Firebird TCP
connection. So although anyone can download BridgeCentral from
http://bridgecentral.dk/ , you cannot easily reproduce the bug without being a
privileged member of a Danish DBf bridge club.

I've seen it before on other pages: carriage returns are removed from

avoid this by staying in GUI mode and not previewing, but that seems to no

Just have a look at http://wiki.winehq.org/RecentChanges, it really starts
to take quite a bit of an effort to clean Wine wiki from spam.
Apparently, spammers can't be stopped by keywords listed in the stop list
http://wiki.winehq.org/LocalBadContent, and that's another problem.
Disallowing to create wiki pages with external links is considered main and
very efficient way to stop wiki spam, there are many resources explaining how
to do that for various wiki engines.

IPropertyStore::SetValue failed, code 0x80004002
After this, the installer doesn't offer to start the program automatically, but
there appears to be no other impact on the installation. (That may not be
related to this message anyway for all I know.) This doesn't happen in
WinXP/Vista/2k mode.
This is a .NET app, but the installer doesn't seem to use it; behavior is the

While photoshop cs3 is not easy to install currently (there is a bug that

unplayable. Every animation in the game seems affected, even mouse movement is
not smooth.
This does not affect menus, the problem only appears once a game is launched.
The problem is still there with wine-1.1.7.
In case it might be useful, the video card used is Nvidia 8600M GT, with nvidia
drivers 177.80.

wined3d: Use a swapchain for GDI surfaces.
This is a long-needed cleanup aimed at removing the ddraw_primary,
ddraw_window, ddraw_width and ddraw_height members from
IWineD3DDeviceImpl, which just do not belong there. Destination
window and screen handling is supposed to be done by swapchains.

On first startup, Trackmania Nations Forever (free download at
http://www.trackmania.com/index.php?rub=downloads ) usually makes a benchmark
to set useful graphics detail settings. However, this does not work on wine:
Instead of a benchmark, the actual full game is started. When I quit, the
launcher tells me that the graphics data could not be found. I then get the
normal launcher, and can start the game again. This happens each time I start
the launcher.
Trackmania United Forever has the same issue.

For a basic reproducable test I'll be running 'wine notepad' as an example

ddraw: Use offscreen backbuffers.
Before this patch the frame rate in the game menu (press Esc while in game) was
limited to <=60. Now the frame rate can reach hundreds. Behavior on Windows:
frame rate is limited at 60.
The reason I am reporting this: Shortly after opening the game menu there often
is a short but very noticeable phase where everything behaves sluggishly,
making it very hard to select the desired entry with the mouse.
The sluggishness/slowdown itself may not be a Wine bug since is not a problem
when I switch NVIDIA PowerMizer from its default "Adaptive" to "Prefer Maximum
Performance". That, however, is not an acceptable permanent solution on a
laptop. Sync to VBlank settings do not change the behavior.
So far I have only been able to observe the slowdown when running the game in
Direct3D mode, although the frame rate is now also unlimited when running in
DirectDraw mode. All observations have been made with Diablo II Lord of
Destruction 1.13c.

Before continuing I should mention Multisampling is enabled in the Wine
registry.
Anti-aliasing in Fallout: New Vegas doesn't seem to work like it should. Values
up to 8 samples (as per the launcher) apply anti-aliasing, but it seems like
it's only in fact rendering with 2 samples. Selecting 9 samples or more simply
disables anti-aliasing altogether.
World details are anti-aliased correctly. Buildings, streetlamps and the like
are smoothed like they should be, while objects like grass are not.
Furthermore, structures in the distance (like pylons) are not aliased at all
and look like pencil scribbles from MS Paint.
I've observed this in Wine versions throughout the 1.5.x series. My distro is
Arch Linux x86_64.
DirectX 9 DLL overrides *are* being used as the Steam installer for New Vegas
installs DirectX automatically. I have not yet tested it without overrides.
This doesn't occur in Skyrim, a game that uses the same engine as New Vegas.
My specs:
Nvidia 660Ti 2GB
16GB DDR3 RAM
Intel Core i5 3.4GHz @ 4.0GHz

When trying to load the Sylenth1 VSTi in any kind of host, Wine crashes with a
stack dump and backtrace.
You can download Sylenth1 from:
http://www.lennardigital.com/modules/downloads
(5MB, no sign up required.)
This happens in all hosts I tried, native Linux ones (LMMS, QTractor) as well
as Windows ones running in Wine (FL Studio, Reaper.)
The easiest and fastest way to reproduce the error is:
* Install LMMS (should be available in all distros)
* Install Sylenth1 with Wine
* Run LMMS
* Insert the "VeSTige" instrument into the song editor.
You do that by clicking on the "Instruments" icon in the
vertical bar to the left and drag&dropping the "VeSTige"
item into the song editor.
* In the VeSTige GUI (click the newly added VeSTige instrument
to bring up the GUI), click the folder icon, select the
Sylenth1Demo.dll and click OK.
At the moment the DLL runs, Wine crashes.
I'm using Wine 1.3.37 on Gentoo Linux AMD64.

As in the title, I cannot use full screen resolution (1366x768, 16:9) with game
that support it.
In particular the game is GTA San Andreas (I think 1.01v).
I'm using wine 1.5.27.
The game lists only 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768. On Windows it is able to start
with the full screen resolution (1366x768) and there are also more other
resolutions available.
The game has been installed in the same way on both Windows (7) and Linux (Xubu
12.10).
I tried to use a virtual desktop. I set it to 1366x768 but the game still lists
only 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768.
I also tried to use a bigger virtual desktop (4000x3000). In this case, the
game was able to recognize the 4000x3000 resolution (it started but clearly was
unplayable due to huge resolution) but 1366x768 is still not present.

Segment of relay output
I'm trying to get Astroplanner to run with Wine. The author has a low opinion
of Linux users being willing to pay for his software. So it only runs natively
on Windows and OSX. I'd like to prove him wrong, but I need to get it running
first. I'm doing this on an up to date Ubuntu 8.04 laptop. I've installed
Wine from the repository. I've attached a segment of the relay output around
what I think is causing the problem. Recreating the problem is very easy.
Download Astroplanner from
http://www.ilangainc.com/astroplanner/reguserdl/V1.6.1/AstroPlannerWindows.….
It runs in demo mode until registration. There is no installation process, so
just run it under Wine. After a lot of initialization, the application comes
up. Create a new plan when that screen comes up. Open the Edit,

I'm running Linux Mint 13 x86_64 with kernel 3.5.0-26-generic and X.Org Server
1.13.0 on my laptop (ThinkPad X61s with Intel X3100 graphics, see [1]). Before
upgrading Wine from 1.4.1 version to version 1.5.27 using the Ubuntu Wine PPA
[2] I decided to run 3DMark to see if the upgrade affected performance. I then
ran 3DMark after upgrading Wine. The result was an unexpected, consistent 20%
drop in the score.
The scores (averaged from three trials) were as follows:
Wine 1.4.1: 2614
Wine 1.5.27: 2080
I'll see if this can be reproduced on a machine with a different graphics chip.

In Wine this fails unless the Telephony registry key has no subkey.
Notes:
* You can run the inf file with the following command:
rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DelTest 128 c:\deltest.inf
* The above command needs a full path to the inf file.
* Obviously, don't do this on a real Windows machine unless you know how to
restore your Telephony registry key. If you must try this on Windows, then the
best is to do it in a virtual machine with a good snapshot.

See launchpad bug here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/702452
In Ubuntu Unity applications run via wine have the default wine-icon (the
wine-bottle) in the "Running Program-Icons"-bar (The Task-bar).
Thus all applications are getting "stacked" under one icon.
To stop this behavior you have to write in each (generated) .desktop-file the
Line:
StartupWMClass=<name of the exe-file>
Example Firefox:
StartupWMClass=firefox.exe
Wine should do this automatically after I installed my program, so the users
would get the expected Icons and "Stacking-Mechanism" in Unity.

Coastal Explorer has an Options section for connecting the app to COM ports for
I/O (Tools -> Options -> Instruments -> Port Settings). All available COM
ports are listed when running under Windows. Under Wine, none are found (see
attached screen shot). Defined COM1...4 (/dev/ttyS0...3) and COM5
(/dev/ttyUSB0) were all chmod to 666 to ensure permissions weren't a problem;
the problem remains.
Without serial I/O, the app's function of reading a GPS' serial stream and
writing commands to an autopilot controller (also via serial stream) is lost.
Without it CE functions only as a trip planner and tide predictor.

Version: 1.1.35
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: comctl32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: us(a)edmeades.me.uk
I've been debugging a private application and tracked down the source of a trap
to the way the status control initializes and uses the tooltip control.
The application in question traps because it receives a WM_CREATE message for
the tooltip window and calls GetWindowLong against an hwnd for a value it
should have set earlier - this fails but the code doesnt notice, and results in
a trap.
On windows, the status control does not create the tooltip until the first
WM_MOUSEMOVE event, and hence all application initialization would have
finished in my case. You can clearly see this by use of a simple application
with a statusbar control set to have a tooltip and text, and then use SPY++ to
monitor the window creation messages.
Note this also shows a 2nd problem which is that the status control passes the
tooltip text to the tooltip window to manage. This is wrong, because using the
status bar you can set and then get the tooltip text before the tooltip window
is ever created. Additionally, SPY++ shows that the notify messages (NEEDTEXT
type) are sent to the status window when the tooltip needs the text, both of
which mean that the status control should manage the text.
I have a simple application which has a button for get tip, set tip text, and
using it you can see the behaviour above. It doesnt replicate the trap but you
can see the behavious using it - you dont get a WM_CREATE for the tooltip until
such time as you move the mouse into the statusbar area on windows.
Simple workarounds for me: winetricks comctl32, or modifying the
STATUSBAR_WMCreate method to something like "if (0 && dwStyle & SBT_TOOLTIPS)
{" to prevent the tooltip altogether.

After AlwaysOffscreen has become enabled by default, games such as GTAIII and
GTAVC (which are unaware of FSAA) can't benefit from nvidia antialiasing
settings out of the box. I'm not sure if it's intended result, but despite it
being possible to disable it back, new default seems no good to me as e.g. on
Windows it's enough to set antialiasing in the driver utility and there's no
need to change D3D configuration.
Maybe wine should check whether default render target is multisampled and
toggle the default?

When I copy a wall of text with images in it from Linux into MS Office, it'll
copy the text, but completely ignores the images.
Please fix. It's kind of a deal breaker with Linux. - My client is pretty
pissed off and I may have to switch all the computers back to windows if he
can't cut&paste.

Details:
I can copy text just fine, I can copy images (individually) just fine, but when
I want to copy long documents with both, it doesn't work.

Console and Wowerror output

When launching WoW, I get a screen that looks like it's going to start, but
then immediately crashes. I can here the sound from the app running, but no
video and the wowerror crash screen comes up, follow by the wine "This program
had an error" dialog. I've appended the the console and wowerror output into

In the OSOL contrib repo, there is a binary version of wine 1.0.1. With this
version, WoW runs fine, except there's no sound (the contrib version doesn't
detect any sound drivers).
Help appreciated, very willing to try recommendations and get more output to
you if need be.
I've also tried using WoW in full screen, with a virtual desktop in full screen
and in windowed mode.

Install and run Ziff-Davis PC Benchmarks WinBench 96
(on the Winstone 32 cd-rom).
Start it with
cd .wine/drive_c/ZDBENCH/WB96
wine WB96
Get past the hangs described in bug 12267 by killing and restarting twice.
Run the "Disk Tests". Get past the abort
"A DOS file operation that was supposed to fail succeeded during the test.
The following information is for ZDBOp use:
Drive: C Operation: GetFileAttrib
Script Location: 0d0b11 0

by applying the patch
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2009-January/068579.html
The test runs for a long time, then tries to delete its temporary
directory, C:\~WBDM.TMP, but fails with the dialog
and the app aborts with
"A DOS file operation failed during the test.
The following information is for ZDBOp use:

Working Dir: ~WBDM.TMP
Int 21 Function: 3a 00 CF: 1 Expected CF: 0"
Looking at the log, it seems as if Wine trips over its shoelaces
when the app is doing its recursive directory list,
and does not tell the app about one directory,
C:\~WBDM.TMP\MGA\CPANEL. As a result, the app doesn't
delete its contents, and when the app then tries to
delete C:\~WBDM.TMP\MGA, it fails with 'directory not empty'.
INT21_FindHelper looks awfully tricky. It seems to have
a loop to skip over some directory entries, and maybe this
is firing improperly here. The code seems to date from
2003-11-14, mostly written by Eric Pouech in

Summary: Fake BIOS unable to render text in graphics mode

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement

Component: dos

ReportedBy: flerchjj(a)ieee.org
Fake BIOS interrupt 10h service number 9 has routines to handle character
displaying in a text mode terminal window, but no code exist for handling
graphics modes. No text is therefore displayed in graphics modes. Currently
only 256 color modes (and possibly linear memory 16 color modes) are supported
as graphics modes & these should be fixed first.
Currently Wine tests for text mode by looking at color depth (Wine 1.1.6) and
calls to this BIOS service could cause Fake VGA memory corruption in monochrome
graphics modes (which aren't supported anyways). That is a separate issue but
the patches for it need to be applied before addressing this issue.
I would suggest a use of the OEM_FIXED_FONT, which I believe is defined in GDI,
and converting it to a bitmaps of the proper resolution for desired chars.
GetStockObject(OEM_FIXED_FONT), GetObject, SelectObject, wglUseFontBitmap may
all be useful functions, but I'll have to investigate more later.

Trace log and backtrace of crash
VDMSound is used on NT-based Windows systems for emulating audio cards (digital
and midi) for DOS apps. Trying to run the provided dosdrv.exe results in an
illegal instruction when trying to load vddloader.dll. The instruction it seems
to crash on is
popl %gs
in the vm86_[enter|return] assembly functions (in ntdll/signal_i386.c).
I have an AMD X2 4200+ CPU which is a 64-bit CPU, however I'm running a full
32-bit system (32-bit Linux kernel and all; nothing 64-bit). I should also
probably note that the app I'm trying to run through VDMSound (Daggerfall) does
not crash with an illegal instruction, but complains that it can't run under
Windows 3.1, and exits. VDMSound is supposed to help allow the game to run
under real Win2k/XP.
Attached is a +all,-gdi,-syslevel,-heap winedebug trace, along with the winedbg
dump at the very end. You can search for "code=c000001d" to find the point
where it crashes. For some reason, some of the threads' traces in the log get
intermingled at points, and I can't seem to help it much.

Joysticks and gamepads are not detected in Kerbal Space Program, and cannot be
set as control devices in the games settings so they cannot be use in the game.
Kerbal Space Program is made in the Unity game engine, which uses rawinput for
cross platform compatibility, and while the rawinput patch that was added in
Wine 1.5.13 (
http://gitorious.org/chakra-packages/lib32/blobs/89c459680eb9a67ed8bf44c1ca…
) provides keyboard and mouse support, it doesn't work for joysticks.
Now that rawinput support is integrated, it'd help a lot if the support were
expanded to include sticks and pads.

Hi,
The use of a custom listview control (e.g. xlistctrl) with user drawn controls
like editable text fields and comboboxes there are various drawing bugs and you
can't properly 'enter' the control. I mean that in case of a combobox you can't
select custom values and in case of a text field it isn't always editable.
An example of a control which shows the problem is at

The Setup Assistant is basically a web page loaded in a small window that
interacts with the Slingplayer via what appears to be Javascript and ActiveX.
Upon loading the Assistant, nothing happens, just a blank screen. Closing the
window makes the Slingplayer unusable and has to be killed.
Installing IE6 throws a bunch of scripting and ActiveX errors before also
failing.

The application in this webpage:
http://www.easy68k.com
which is a Motorola 68k microprocessor emulator works flawlessly on Wine except
for Copy & Paste, which does not work.
Please, try it with las version, 1.1.1. Can anyone confirm this?? I have Ubuntu
Hardy 8.04.1 and wine-1.1.1
There's also some strange behaviour: sometimes, when writing code, pressing Tab
key makes the application not only to put a tabulator, but to start a new line.
I think it would be really good to have it working on Linux, since it can be
used at the University.
This should be very easy to test. I have also sent a message to the developer
forum of that application, but I think it has more to do with Wine than with
the application itself.
Thanks!!

Something seems to be creating an out of range date; then when

a different time representation, the conversion fails, leading to
use of garbage.
My guess is that test_hittest() is picking some area to hittest that
is driving the code bonkers. We get lucky, and the test passes anyway.
I don't know if a real hittest could give the wrong answer in some
situations.

Summary: In dlls/user32/edit.c EDIT_EM_ReplaceSel Clobbers
Important Var When Buffer Overflows
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: user32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: bsmith(a)sudleyplace.com
Please don't hate me, but I don't have git or anything like it installed
to make a formal patch, but I have benefited greatly from your work, so
I'd like to repay the effort by reporting a bug even though I realize
it's not in the correct format.
In a Windows app, I am using edit.c as a replacement for the EDIT
control in Windows. I don't use any of the other WineHQ files.
Here's a short description of the bug:
The handler EDIT_EM_ReplaceSel misbehaves when an insertion triggers a
buffer overflow. The code correctly calls EDIT_NOTIFY_PARENT(es,
EN_MAXTEXT), but shortly thereafter clobbers an important variable
(strl) by using it instead of a temporary.
The relevant OLD code in EDIT_EM_ReplaceSel is as follows:
--------------------------------------------------------------
if ((honor_limit) && (size > es->buffer_limit)) {
EDIT_NOTIFY_PARENT(es, EN_MAXTEXT);
/* Buffer limit can be smaller than the actual length of text
in combobox */
if (es->buffer_limit < (tl - (e-s)))
strl = 0;
else
strl = es->buffer_limit - (tl - (e-s));
}
if (!EDIT_MakeFit(es, tl - (e - s) + strl))
return;
--------------------------------------------------------------
the NEW code is as follows:
--------------------------------------------------------------
if ((honor_limit) && (size > es->buffer_limit)) {
EDIT_NOTIFY_PARENT(es, EN_MAXTEXT);
/* Buffer limit can be smaller than the actual length of text
in combobox */
if (es->buffer_limit < (tl - (e-s)))
strl2 = 0;
else
strl2 = es->buffer_limit - (tl - (e-s));
}
else
strl2 = strl;
if (!EDIT_MakeFit(es, tl - (e - s) + strl2))
return;
--------------------------------------------------------------
The calculation inside the honor_limit bracket of the value to use with
the call to EDIT_MakeFit uses strl as if it were a temp var. This
variable actually holds strlenW (lpsz_replace) and is used in later code
as if it still had the original value. Using a (new) variable strl2
solves that problem -- this variable is declared as a UINT in the
prologue. Perhaps you would prefer a name different from strl2 to
better reflect its temporary nature.
If you agree with the above analysis, I would greatly appreciate it if
someone would make this into a patch and take it from there. I have
make the above changes in my copy of edit.c and it works just fine when
the buffer overflows which is how I stumbled on this bug in the first place.
