The problem is, the game is functional, but on certain configurations there are outages in textures. The coders of FOnline expect the problem to be in the wine, escpecially, DX does not properly free unused texture from memory, preventing loading the new ones. Please, if you can give me some hints, how to debug the app in order to give you more indices, pls write me and I can liase with developers, who are primarily windows ones. Steps to reproduce (There is no purchase required for running the dedicated server, so by following below steps anybody can try and reproduce the above behaviour.) 1. Download "rFactor2 full installer" (currently Build 134) from http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/rf2dl/. Also download at least one .rfmod file from the category "Content (cars, tracks, etc)". I´d recommend "2012 FIA Formula Two", since it has no updates yet, no dependencies on other content and is comparably small, thus making its installation the least troublesome. 2.a Install rFactor2, take a note of where you choose the "Data and Settings Destination Folder" to be, or make it the same as the "Core Destination Folder". 2.b Put your .rfmod file(s) into the "Packages" directory inside the "Data and Settings Destination Folder". 2.c Change directory to the "Core Destination Folder", run "Core/ModMgr.exe" and Install the Mod(s) 3. Still in the "Core Destination Folder", run "Core/rFactor2\ Dedicated.exe". Leave the default settings by clicking the bottom right button in the first 3 windows that appear. Then assign a "Race Name" (top left) on the last dialog (the one that has "Load Track" written on the bottom right button). Then click "Load Track"... Actual Result The server starts loading but crashes in the process after a short time and the following message is output on the terminal: "wine: Unhandled exception 0xc0000417 in thread 29 at address 0x5369bc (thread 0029), starting debugger..." Also, the crash window of wine titled "Program Error" comes up, but when I click "Show Details", the window of "rFactor2 Dedicated.exe" is closed immediately and the window "Program Error Details" pops up but won´t show any details, it stays at: "Loading detailed information, please wait..." Whereas, when after the crash I choose to close the "Program Error" window there is more information on the terminal, see the attachment. Expected Result A running rFactor 2 dedicated server. Build date & Platform Build date: 2013-01-19 gcc --version: gcc (Debian 4.7.2-5) 4.7.2 wine --version: wine-1.5.22 Build and run environment is a chroot containing Debian Sid i386, host is Debian 6.0.6 (Squeeze). Build dependencies were installed by "apt-get build-dep wine" Additional information The program was run semi-successfully already, but I cannot reproduce it anymore. But even then it crashed more than 75% of the time with the symptoms described above. When it successfully launched, the server sometimes could not connect to the matchmaker. No matter virtual/non-virtual desktop is enabled it's all the same. My laptop model is Asus Zenbook UX31E-DH72, the usb mouse is Microsoft Arc Touch. Replace the directinput dll with the windows one will resolve this, so I suppose this is directinput related. All touhou series game is affected. (From th06 to th128..) I don't have more game to test though.. First there is no title in the title bar of this window and the color is light grey instead of the standard Windows blue. When shifting focus a first time to the input window the title is shown in white, but is cut off before the end. When shifting focus back to the score window and shifting focus to the input window a second time, the title bar becomes black, still with white characters cut off before the end. Some changes have been made since that screenshot and now all of the buttons are in a single "column" going down the side of the register view window. Can sometimes be worked around by setting FixedWindowResolution="1" in SSF.ini, but message appears again when trying to switch to fullscreen mode. In order to get to the unlockrect message, the DirectX SDK needs to be installed to get past an xaudio error (winetricks xact is not enough). In addition, the game/iso needs to be mounted before launching SSF, either through cdemu or a physical drive. Otherwise a cdrom error will occur. As soon as I can move the character i try to move forward the game crashes. If i go backwards instead it works fine. Open any dialog in PAF, or any other application that makes a new top level window. When moving that window around, it leaves trails of itself on the family view in PAF. I have to minimize PAF and restore it or equivalent to get the window to refresh itself. If you move the window slowly, one pixel at a time, it doesn't happen. I put some printouts in X11DRV_Expose() and BeginPaint() and noticed that when the two are called in turn, things are fine. If X11DRV_Expose is called twice or more before BeginPaint() for the family view, the trails start showing up. I now have 80-90% functionality in Linux. Yay! Now, the bug: The Comment fields do not work properly. First, when I open an existing pdf document with Comments, and click on the Comments tab at the bottom left corner of the screen, the text of the existing comments is not shown. (The username is shown, but not the comment.) Hovering the mouse cursor over the comment does bring a popup yellow window that reveals the comment. Also, creating a new comment fails. It creates the comment, but the text is not saved, so when you go back to the comment you just created, the text has vanished. Standard Window Manager (using KDE 4.2 KWin) actions are effectless: * Hitting Alt+F3, selecting "Minimize" does not work * Hitting Alt+F3, selecting "Always in background" does not work * Hitting Alt+F3, selecting "To desktop #..." does not work. The only thing that allows me to continue the installation is to hold the Alt-key, click and hold the mouse on the window and move it to the second screen. Then I can proceed installation. And wine publishes those associations in native system, creating wine-extension-htm.desktop and wine-extension-xml.desktop. Those 2 appear in all native's "Open With" dialoags as legit options. But, if chosen, system enters an infinite loop (*.htm file -> start.exe /ProgId htmfile -> winebrowser -> xdg-open -> start.exe ...) To prevent this, and still keep a way to allow wine apps to launch files in native apps AND allow native apps to launch files in wine apps, wine should implement a way to inhibit winemenubuilder to create native associations for certain extensions (in this case, *.htm and *.xml) That can be done in several ways (hardcode blacklisting winebrowser.exe is the easiest, but its lame), and my suggestion is this: winemenubuilder should not create associations if the class is in "WineImportedExtension.xxx" format. Example: [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.htm] @="WineImportedExtension.htm" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WineImportedExtension.htm\shell\open\command] @="C:\\windows\\system32\\winebrowser-gui.exe \"%1\"" WineImportedExtension is a way to say: "this is not an extension handled by a windows app. It is an extension imported from native system. So DO NOT create an association for it in native... its already there" To original class, "htmlfile", can stay untouched. There are also rendering anomolies in the genre selection list (sometimes items are shown under the wrong parent until you refresh). Nothing is placed in the clipboard. This feature would be a real time saver. In my case, I'm compiling a set of documentation for one program, and it provides some documentation only in the form of dialog boxes. Copying it all letter by letter would take hours if not days, while on Windows it takes just a few minutes. When panning by moving the mouse to the screen-edges, the game will pan very very fast if the cursor is moved to the right of bottom of the screen. It will almost pan the entire map instantly. When doing it to the left or up it's at completely normal speed. I have a feeling this is maybe related to the other mouse issues in this game. Particularly the issue with the cursor hitting "invisible boxes" at the bottom right corner of the screen. You have to move the cursor to the far left and far top of the screen a couple of times for these "invisible boxes" to disappear. But the programs excel and word die silently latest after the first mousemovement. Further digging in reveals: Installing MS office 2000 SR1 does not install due to bug http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29335 . This bug can be avoided bei copying the contents of the system-folder into windows/system32 and also installing mfc42 with winetricks. Using the above workaround gave the following: The installer crashes from wine-1.3.7 up to 1.5.3 with another bug. The crash was fixed in wine 1.5.4 by http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30571 but the fix did not solve the unusable installation of office 2000. The first bad commit regarding bug 30571 is commit 19a2d144b563f23dacfb127b94948b0f0f89b003 Author: Hans Leidekker <hans(a)codeweavers.com> Date: Fri Nov 12 15:05:55 2010 +0100 msi: Don't rebuild the target path for files from global assembly components. The server (printing system) side is nearly completely implemented in the form of new CUPS filters and file conversion rules. On the client (application) side it is needed that the applications generate the print jobs in PDF and not in Postscript. This would mean a change of the print job generation part of OpenOffice.org. As OpenOffice.org has an excellent "Export to PDF" function, there will not be needed much new code. One can use this functionality to generate print jobs, using PDF settings optimized for printing. This is not absolutely urgent, as CUPS can convert PostScript to PDF with a pstopdf filter, but applications which directly produce PDF have a better control over the graphical quality of the print job, and they even solve page management (2 on a sheet, booklets, selected pages, ...) problems on old PostScript-based servers, as a CUPS filter will generate PostScript from the incoming PDF then (pdftops) and this PostScript is much cleaner as the one coming from most applications. So I am asking you whether you can change OpenOffice.org to make the "Print" command emitting PDF instead of PostScript. To not break lagacy, non-PDF-capable environments, make this a configurable option. I am very grateful for any support from the OpenOffice.org side in terms of these OpenPrinting projects. Take for example app from http://www.whizlabs.com/download.php?prod=SCJP6.0.exe (from some bug in bugzilla). The application fails with a run-time error, and some , for newbies, cryptic ole errors. I think it would enhance wine's userfriendlyness a big deal, if we would just put up a nice messagebox, with a message what the error means, and what should be done. I'll attach a (crappy) patch , just to give an idea how easy it would be to give users more clues how to get around the "bug". Description: when launching the PC remake of the game, you're greeted with a launcher offering you several choices like game, screen, input, sound. You can change various settings inside those tabs. The launcher also has the buttons: <Ok>, <Cancel> and <Exit>. Pressing on <Ok> is starting the game whichever tab is chosen. The problem: the game starts without audio unless I choose the <Sound> tab in the launcher window. To reproduce the problem: 1) Download and extract the contents of the archive, containing the game. 2) Start the game by executing MDDClone 31 EN.exe (in case you downloaded the English version). 3) Press on the <Ok> button: the game should start (in a small window) but it doesn't generate any sounds. 4) Start the game again and select the <Sound> tab in the launcher: you don't need to change anything, just press on <Ok>: the game will start and audio is playing correctly. This behaviour is different to what I experienced when I tried to run the game under Windows: audio is playing correctly whether the <Sound> tab in the launcher was selected formerly or not.
