Testing for bug 9364, Pando crashes during install. Not sure if it's a
regression in wine or in Pando's installer. I unchecked all optional components
in install (if you don't, it still crashes, but not in crypt32). Terminal

Elster is the official German program required to submit various tax
statements.
It installs and starts with Elster, and data input mostly works (help does not
work, see bug 11303).
However, when running a "Plausibilitätsprüfung" (plausibility check) or
actually submitting the data (real submission or submission test,
"Datenübermittlung"/"Tets der Datenübermittlung"), Elster fails with a weird
error message:

The installation does not crash, but does not continue with an error message
about missing or corrupted files. The message is in (Brazilian) Portuguese, bt
says something like:

place(?or site?).

Tested on Ubuntu Hardy Heron Beta with wine 0.9.59. strangely, bugzilla only

When installing the SnelStart Demo (downloadable at
http://www.snelstart.nl/download/SetupDemoSnelStart.exe), the installer first
downloads a file "dotnetfx.exe" but then fails with an error box saying "1621:
Kan de handtekening van het bestand dotnetfx.exe niet controleren." (Google
shows that the English version is "1621: Failed to verify signature of
file...").
Under Windows, the installer works.

Similar to bug 29797, except you can literally wiggle your way out of this one.
"At the beginning of the first level when in Wine, the flash speeder doesn't go
forward. In Windows, it starts going forward unless you put the brake on.
To get the vehicle to go forward in Wine, if you can, you have to "wiggle" it.
You put the thrusters on, point it all the way off to one side (left or right),
then all the way to the other and wiggle it back and forth until it snaps out
of it and goes forward.
In later versions of Wine, however, you cannot get it to go forward no matter
how much you wiggle it.
Even back in Wine 1.3.16 and 1.3.20, you had to wiggle the flash speeder "out
of it" to get it to move forward at the first level.
After some bisecting, I found out that in Wine 1.3.28, you can wiggle your way
out, but in 1.3.29 you can't wiggle your way out. So a patch from ~.28 to ~.29
broke it."
Yes, I just quoted myself.
I'm putting 1.3.16 as the version, though I've never seen any version not have
this issue (unless totally stuck).
I'm thinking that this effects game-play elsewhere in that sometimes there are
issues getting the brakes off. I don't think I'm at a point to make "having a
hard time coming off the brake" a separate bug.
Note that the transition from 1.3.28 to ~.29 also caused the "line-iness" bug:
29797. Maybe they are related?

Lightworks installs / starts up fine with wine1.3.22, Ubuntu Maverick 64bit. I
use no native dll overrides.
But It crashes when I click on the field to enter a name of the project. Same
happens when I use "restore from Archive", and click on choose.
Backtrace speaks "in kernel32 (0x0990e6d0)" so I assume it's a kernel issue.

I choosed to do that because to run Lightworks, you will at least need the
matrox vfw drivers installed, and these are bundled here
(Lightworks/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Matrox VFW Software Codecs), as their
installer fails to run in wine.

Repro:
1. Start/watch a dota 2 game
2. Check player name above all the heroes
Result:
Often, player name is not shown or corrupted, see screenshot (it shows only
"str" there)
Expected:
Player name should always be properly shown (DD^mstr in the captured on
screenshot case)

"The Clue" by Neo software using Wine 1.4 on Linux Ubuntu 10.10.
The game fails to start and Wine sends up an error stating that a serious
problem has occurred. Details of the unhandled exception are in the backlog
(attached).
Wine gives no indication that the game is loading but almost immediately flags
up the error. Tinkering with Wine's configuration settings seem to give no
affect and still 'The Clue' is unable to run.
'The Clue' is a classic game that was re-released as freeware in 2001. It may
be that it is too old to be ran under modern conditions? Which would be a
shame.

When you start the game, you'll see a menu where you can enter log-in
information, start the game, see some news (don't know what, because it's
cyrillic) and configure the game.
Problem: The menu is really borked up, you can only see parts of it, a text
field is not visible because of that (username) and 2 buttons are cut in half,
plus (at least I guess that) there should be a checkbox for saying if you want
to save log-in informations ( I don't know it, but in the directory of the game
is a text file where you can enter your log-in information and after that the
textfield(s) are filled with your log-in informations)

Sketchup uses Bugsplat to collect crash data,
but Bugsplat says that all the Wine crashes have
no data.
To reproduce, we can probably get a trial account at
bugsplatsoftware.com, build their demo crasher app under Visual Studio,
and run it under Wine; I bet it, too, will upload empty crash data.
You can't build with Visual Studio Express; I've already tried. That
fails because it doesn't bundle MFC.

When I updated to the latest version of Wine I noticed that all matches I've
played online with Company of Heroes (using the Automatch function) will drop
the opponent around the 17 minutes mark.
This is quite serious as to me it seems I'm committing what is called "drop
hacking" in the CoH community and since I don't want my key to be banned and do
like a proper game of CoH. This bug was not present in version 1.3.24 of Wine.

I launched 5.1.2 of Safari and it just hangs and when I close it, Wine stayed
up. So I looked at the task manager and it said that Safari.exe was zombie. It
does it every time. I got a backtrace of it.

In Eye of the North there are some trees which get a corrupted texture if
looking from a special angel. It happens not on every tree but on the both from
the screenshots (it is the Sparkfly Swamp. The minimap shows the exact
position).
On the first screenshot all is looking fine. But if I'm changing the angel a
little like in the second screenshot the tree get horizontal stripes. This
happens on the highest and the lowest graphic settings.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 dev with a GeForce 8600 GT and the NVIDIA driver version
285.05.09.

Hi there!
I've got a COM Server called CJS.exe and a Client called ACPX.exe.
The Problem is, that the CJS.exe is a buyed component - so i have no source :/
Now to the error:
I start the server:
notroot@debian:~$ wine CJS.exe
fixme:ole:CoResumeClassObjects stub
then i start the Client:
notroot@debian:~$ wine ACPX.exe
fixme:ole:CoResumeClassObjects stub
And after the Messagebox "before assign callback" opens it looks like: ->

The problem is in the function where i assign the callback function.

When starting Safari it hangs and consumes one processor core entirely. Knowing
about starting page bug I've changed start page to Google but with no effect.
Safari is starting, but in a second it hangs completely. Leaving it for a
couple of hours for experimental purposes have no effect too
I've copied a terminal log entirely, because do not understand valuable parts
of it.

Ran into this with wine-1.3.35 in my third run.
Here's what I did:
1) copy both discs to a directory to work around bug 25558
2) run in a virtual desktop to work around bug 25139
3) apply winsock hack from bug 26411
4) Ran game, declined to activate, ran through first tutorial, flew into the
ground,
5) When presented with the refly / continue / quit dialog, chose Quit (I think)

When using the ALSA driver, the audio in Ragnarok Online is "crackly", not of
acceptable quality. It works fine when using OSS, but this makes it so only the
Ragnarok client has access to sound -- i.e., I've gotta quit Opera (due to
Flash object(s)) and Audacious must not be active (i.e., it can't be on Pause
or playing).

Once past bug 24358 and bug 24375, the next problem is slow
frame rate; I'm seeing 7-8 fps in the first part (where
the player materializes in some sort of lobby that looks
like a bar), and 10-11 fps after you accept an assignment,
get past the cut scene, and are thrown into the game proper.
This is on an e8400 with an nvidia gt 220 (yeah, not a fast card, but
still). I'll measure framerate on same hardware in vista next.

The error message
World of Warcraft worked just as it should.
Until one day. Ever since then, when I try and launch World of Warcraft, a
window pops up with the message "checking for updates..", later followed by a
window with the message:
"failed to run a required program (agent). Wait one minute and try again and if
that doesn't work please restart your computer and try again."
I have tried as it suggests, but I still get the same problem every time. I was
launching World of Warcraft from the .exe in my windows directory, so I tried
downloading and installing world of warcraft into my linux directory instead.
Before it even starts installing I get the same windows popping up.

Dwarf Fortress has a problem only in Wine (reported only for Wine so far).
Where refining Coal thinks it needs Silt/Opals/other random things. There is a
thread about it here:

This isn't common, as some people have it, some don't. I do have it however,
and the uploaded Dwarf Fortress has an example of it. I've done two reinstalls
of Dwarf Fortress (unzipping the newest zip into the directory, and one where I
just copied the save).
The odd thing is that it works fine in Windows for everyone. I did make this
current save in Windows, and I haven't tried this with one JUST in Wine.

My system info
Like the other i updated from Ubuntu 11.4 to 11.10 all was good then Wine
updated as well wow was working then now it doesn't with the new install of
wine 1.3.30 and Ubuntu wow loads the main launcher screen then hangs no warning
nothing after terminated the process and made sure winetricks installed IE 6
and updated the other settings launcher still hangs but even running the
wow.exe will not work even though it did fixed the issue last build. Please
help

World Of Warcraft crashes after start with message "unhandled exception"
(with/without -opengl flag in command line). After crash Wow.exe showing in
processes with 100% CPU using.
Installing vsredist and directX9 not help.
In Windows XP WoW runs correctly without any errors.
On Ubuntu 9.04 with same NVIDIA driver works normal.

Daemon tools lite version 4.46.1.0327 crashes after the initial creation of
virtual drive and asking of permission to use stats. works fine on windows xp
on same computer. Have also tried replacing the files incase they were
corrupted, no luck there.

Error/debug log
Sometimes when logging into WoW (pressing the button to login) Wow.exe will
freeze with the error "wine: Unhandled page fault on execute access to
0x00000001 at address 0x1 (thread 0009), starting debugger..." and I have to
force kill it with the 'kill' command from a tty (since you cannot alt-tab out
of WoW).
Sometimes, however, it will login normally with no problems. I do nothing
different whether it works or not.
I am running Debian Squeeze 64-bit with mostly stable packages and compiled
wine to run in 32-bit mode (for ease of use).
I have attached a debug log of the issue. It occurs even on a fresh wine
install and prefix, also.

When running Stronghold Legends 1.2 with either lowest or highest graphic
settings, I can start the'Singe Player' -> 'Legends Campaign' and send out my
troups, but when the initiating voice tells me something the second time the
game always crashes.
When trying to play 'Single Player' -> 'Legends Trial' -> The pink fluffy nice
and full of love and cuteness trial' , the game crashes showing the logo of
Stronghold Legends

The 3D models look all messed up. All characters look really strange, with
parts like hands, shoes, arms all over the place.
Some character animations are defective, and some won't animate at all.
I suppose it has to do with this fixme:

This app's installer requires winxp and doesn't
bundle the visual C++ 6 runtimes. It also needs
some XML functions we don't yet implement. To get
past those issues, do

The installer gets pretty far, but fails with
wine: Call from 0x7ee51f20 to unimplemented function
gdiplus.dll.GdipGetImageEncodersSize, aborting
and a dialog box offering to send a crash report for ImpCnt.exe.
So the missing gdiplus function is the subject of this bug.
(You can get further by installing native gdiplus,
but the install hangs about 2/3 through the progress bar.

While starting steam crashes and writes the crash log. However it continues on

Windows supports the following semantic for SetTimer():
hTimer = SetTimer(0, MY_ID, TIMEOUT, NULL);
note: hWnd is zero, callback is NULL.
In this case Windows sends WM_TIMER to the thread queue after specified TIMEOUT
milliseconds with wParam==hTimer returned by the function (not MY_ID! and this
is because of zero hWnd!)
When SetTimer is called this way it returns somewhat special in hTimer, for
example 0x7edc.
Under wine, it returns 1 and sends WM_TIMER immediately, regardless of TIMEOUT
(I tried with 6000ms==6s)
Reference: MSDN:
If the function succeeds and the hWnd parameter is NULL, the return value is an
integer identifying the new timer. An application can pass this value to the
KillTimer function to destroy the timer.

This commit change configure and configure.ac, however for debian, /lib is for
64-bit,
and /lib64 is a just a symlink to /lib. The net effect of this patch will

I 've been seeing people sending in test reports for this app every now and
then , so i decided to give it a go myself. The only thing it does is spit out
a few fixme's (shdocvw) and then exits. With native shdocvw (and shlwapi) the
update screen comes up fine and the update process goes fine. However , while
trying to start the game it just hangs. (This bugreport is only for the first
part)

Console log of crash
Plnetside 2 Crashes upon opening any of the fullscreen menus (ESC-Menu, Map,
Any terminal). This started to appear with the 11.02.2012 patch (added Amerish
Continent). Beforehand it worked fine.
Meanwhile there has been an new Patch which didn't fix it.
According to the Comments on the AppDB page for the Game this issue occurs with
Nvidia driver 304.64/60 and 310.14.
I tested with all combinations of Windowed/Full screen/Full screen Window and
Emulated Desktop On/Off with no change. Game Graphics setting also make no
Difference.
I tested it on Git Builds of Wine (self compiled), I did not change the Build
over the patch (same build before and after the patch), and any newer build did
not fix it.
Installed winetricks: d3dx9_43 dinput8 physx vcrun2005 vcrun2008
Attached is the Console Crashlog, notable thing I've seen is that it is always
a Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x00000014.

Log of attempted start
PDF Password Cracker 3.2 Enterprise immediately page faults upon open.
This is reproducible with the trial version -- go to http://crackpdf.com/ , and
click "Free Download" under "PDF Password Cracker Ent v3.2". Install in a new
prefix, and run the program after.
Wine output attached, let me know if you want a gdb backtrace (and if so, how
you would like this backtrace obtained).
The problem, prematurely, appears to be in GetSysColor() of user32.dll.
Is the application trying to skin itself? I see a reference to "skinmagic",
which I would guess is http://www.appspeed.com/html/products.html 's "SkinMagic
C/C++ Toolkit".

I stumbled across
http://slashdot.org/~Spy+der+Mann/journal/185683
which complains that his favorite html editor, Hapedit,
doesn't work well ("the font's all messed up").
I downloaded and launched hapedit. Font seems fine to
me, but clicking on the "Browser" button fails to
launch a browser to preview the current document.
I peered at +reg traces but didn't see how it's trying
to detect the default browser. On Windows it brought
up Firefox fine for me.

Binary and sources of test application
It seems that HTTP_HttpOpenRequestW has problems with escaping some characters.
In attachment there are simple application and its sources which tries to
download data from URL: "http://mapview.dyndns.org/Czech Republic - Ceska
Republika/CR-Mapy KCT/77_77 jihlavske vrchy/coordinates_list", but in wine we
get 404 because spaces is not escaped. There is error message on terminal which
informs us about escaping problems.

Planetside 2 (Beta) is unplayably slow on my system, probably 0.5 FPS. The
character selection screens are a little slow as well, but manageable.
My system: AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor, ATI RV770 [Radeon HD 4850], with
12.4 ati-drivers (fglrx), 3.4.0-gentoo.
I attached my console output (ps2-slow_fps-fglrx-console.txt). Notable errors
include:
err:d3d:context_create wglSwapIntervalEXT failed to set swap interval 0 for
context 0x158d28, last error 0x591
and
err:winediag:shader_generate_glsl_declarations The hardware does not support
enough uniform components to run this shader, it may not render correctly.
I tried with the radeon driver, but the game pagefaults once you try to Play
(will attach as ps2-radeon-backtrace.txt).
I tried playing with the Direct3D registry settings, just to see if it's
something easy. When setting OffscreenRenderingMode to backbuffer, or when
setting PixelShaderMode to disabled, the game pagefaults when you hit Play
(attached as ps2-backbuffer-pagefault.txt, it's the same place for either
registry setting).
Any advice on things to try?

v2.5.0.0 of ImgBurn has a new Advanced build mode interface known as the 'Disc
Layout Editor'.
If you right click an entry in the treeview on the left side of that window and
select 'New Folder' it'll crash with an access violation.
I'm unable to reproduce this issue on any real installation of Windows
(from Windows 95 -> Windows 7) so I can only assume it's something in Wine
(sorry!).

I have the "10th Anniversary DVD Edition" of Riven. I'm able to install it,
but when I run "wine Riven.exe" it returns to the console almost immediately
without printing anything.

Had to do
winetricks vcrun2008
to make patcher happy, and
winetricks d3dx9_36
to see anything but colored rectangles.
Then it ran fine, albeit at 10fps, on my gt 220 / e8400.
Switching to the old renderer in the game's video settings doubled fps,
and the game seems to run reasonably well.
But when you quit, you get a game crash dialog, and then wine's crash dialog.
The log shows
fixme:ole:CoCreateInstance no instance created for interface

Arch Linux (up to date), I have tryed the latest git version and the version
from 1.5.6-1.5.8. As long as the program uses OpenGL (Possibly Direct X as
well), if you have your hardware acceleration off, the program crashes on start
up. In my case: nouveau nofbaccel=1 noaccel=1 in modprobe.d/noveau.conf will
prevent all my wine programs from launching other than steam (It is ran on
another computer and X forwarded to this one). But for all my games, the Linux
ports of them run just fine, but in wine they crash instantly on there first

When starting Picasa 3.8 on Fedora 15. All that is shown is a black window. The
mouse pointer changes as I hover over different locations on the screen, but
the display remains completely black within the window.

Crash log
RAMMap.exe (new tool from SysInternals) crashes when run. You need to change
the version to Vista or higher btw.

Every now and then, winemenubuilder seems to hang.
It happened to me just now installing progecad 2010 trial.
winedbg btall (see attachment) shows that winemenubuilder was started with -w,
which is described in the source like this:
* If the -w parameter is passed, and the shortcut cannot be created,
* this program will wait for the parent process to finish and then try
* again. This covers the case when a ShortCut is created before the
* executable containing its icon.
It hung in WaitForParentProcess().

Edcast can not be started, due to an error. It just crashes and then wine says
me, that if this happens I should send a bug report.

Trying to load the game complains about the dll X3DAudio1_4.dll being missing.
Loading that dll into the game directory manually allows it to get as far as
changing the screen resolution before dropping a game-propietary crash-dump
into the game directory.
Contacting the developer, they were helpful enough to stage that the crash was
occuring in Microsoft's DirectX audio engine (the X3DAudio1_4.dll file) from
the crash-dumps the game itself generated, so we're basically back at square
one in that regard.

Planetside crash output from WinXP trial
If you run Planetside, it will function until the Character selection screen.
Specifically right about when it would load the graphics for the characters
themselves. Additionally you can bypass this screen by selecting your
character from the Sony Launchpad. The game will load up like you are in game
but right as your should see in game graphics - it again crashes.
I've tested in with a clean install of Wine 0.9.61 on NT4, Win2k, WinXP &
Win2K8. All of them crash with no differences in behavior.
Attached is the output from wine when launching Planetside. There are two
dumps. The first (~line 202) is actually from the Launchpad - it seems to have
no effect though. The second crash (~line 910) is what kicks you out of the
game. Just as an additional note, where the bash prompt shows up in the middle
of the output is when it switched from Launchpad to Planetside proper.

Dear Concern,
I have been recently shifted from Windows platform to Ubuntu 11.4. In order to
run in house built application which runs perfectly on Windows i have installed
wine on my machine. Actually it is a trading software and i am able to run it
in view only mode but when i try to perform buying and selling funtion by F4
and F5 function it prompts attached wine application error. I also find few
lines in the wine application debugging which i enabled for troubleshooting
purposes. I am attaching them as well for reference.
Kindly help me resolve this issue, as it is one of the big hurdles in my way
for smooth switchover to Linux.

I tried to run a .NET 2.0 application with Wine 1.5. Its GUI uses
System.Windows.Forms.NumericUpDown controls.
When setting the NumericUpDown's Value property (data type is Decimal), it may
raise the following unhandled exception:
System.OverflowException: Value was either too large or too small for a
Decimal.

Apparently, the NumericUpDown control wants to compare the new value with the
existing one (to determine if an update is necessary, i guess), which results
in throwing the exception.
The application works fine in MS Windows (using the native .NET framework).
With Ubuntu 12.04 as host OS, the problem occurred with Wine 1.5 as well as
Wine 1.4, and with either dotnet20 or dotnet20sp2 package being installed.
This issue might be related to bug #18709.
