Summary: CivCity Rome 1.1: text and graphics missing
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.14
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: le.berred(a)free.fr
After installing CivCity Rome 1.1 (French version) on a recent version of Wine
(1.3.14, but also on 1.3.15 and 1.2.2), using winetricks corefonts to solve the
missing text in menus, it is impossible to play to that game.
Some details are missing (text and graphics AFAIK, see attached screenshot).
It looks like those display problems correspond to the following error
messages:
fixme:d3d:debug_d3dformat Unrecognized 909201952 (as fourcc: R16)
WINED3DFORMAT!
fixme:d3d:getFormatDescEntry Can't find format unrecognized(909201952) in the
format lookup table
fixme:d3d:debug_d3dformat Unrecognized 909200449 (as fourcc: AL16)
WINED3DFORMAT!
fixme:d3d:getFormatDescEntry Can't find format unrecognized(909200449) in the
format lookup table
I tried that game on two different computers, one with an NVIDIA 8600GT and the
other one with an Intel integrated card (X4500HD). The very same problem occurs
on both.

This affects the cracked version. Originally, SCCT is procted by StarForce

Sorry if this happens to be a dupe, but I can't know whether other reported

Example large datafile
BioEdit installs and runs fine, but freezes when you try to load a datafile.
Steps to reproduce:
Download and install BioEdit (http://www.mbio.ncsu.edu/BioEdit/bioedit.html);
Run BioEdit;
Open a large datafile (example datafile in attachment - "large_data.fas");
The only error message in the console is:
err:seh:setup_exception_record stack overflow 1532 bytes in thread 0020 eip
7bc3e5aa esp 00230d34 stack 0x230000-0x231000-0x330000
Ctrl+c kills the program.
This does not happen if a smaller file is loaded (example in attachment -
"small_data.fas").
Note: This example is not a particularly large datafile. I just called it large
to distinguish the two examples.

The problem exists in Wine-0.9.33, 1.0.1 etc.
To reproduce the crash in the demo:
1. Install the demo.
2. winetricks ie6
3. Launch the demo. In the main menu click on <Options>... the game will crash.

information and not even calling get_mountmgr_drive_type in some cases (such as
a network share), so any configuration in winecfg had no effect.
I have attached a patch that causes C: to always report as DRIVE_FIXED, which
fixes my problem, and should avoid any problems of this sort in the future.
However this still means that winecfg overrides have no effect on network
shares, this only fixes the most common problem of C: being considered a
network share.

Test example
1) Create a new Excel file.
2) Remane sheet 1 as "a & b" (without quotes)
4) Put some value in first cell
3) Go to sheet 2 and link the first cell to first cell of sheet 1 (now named as
"a & b") (='a & b'!A1)
4) Save (as .xlsx / MS Excel 2010) and close Excel
5) Reopen excel and load the saved file
6) It will display a "broken link error" and the first sheet will now be named
as "a & b" whereas first cell of second sheet still links to ='a & b'!A1
(correct)
It seems a escape / unescape issue while opening the .xlsx. I'm pretty sure the
issue is while opening, not sving, as the same issue occurs if you create the
file as described above in windows and try to open in linux with wine.
The issue is occurring since wine 1.5. It wasn't in the past.
I've attached the test .xlsx file

Summary: -pipe makes mingw-g++ work unreliably
Product: Wine
Version: 1.6-rc5
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: b7.10110111(a)gmail.com
Classification: Unclassified
Created attachment 45461
--> http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=45461
Test case
How to reproduce:
1. Install mingw from mingw-get-inst-20120426.exe, use default settings. Don't
pay attention at log clean error.
2. Do
mingw-get upgrade "gcc<4.7"
mingw-get upgrade "g++<4.7"
(these are versions which should work for Qt-based apps; not sure if "gcc" line
is actually needed)
3. Unpack attached test case
4. Now either run build.bat from "wine cmd" there, being inside the test
directory, or run:
wine c:/mingw/bin/g++ -c -pipe -O2 -o mainwindow.o mw-processed.cpp
(you don't need to install Qt since the test file is a c++-preprocessed
version, resulting from running "g++ -E")
5. Get the following error:
{standard input}: Assembler messages:
{standard input}:5343: Error: junk `(%esp)movl $0' after expression
{standard input}:5343: Error: too many memory references for `mov'
6. Remove "-pipe" from command, and this works with the same assembly code.
This all is quite sensitive to assembly code generated, e.g. remove "-O2" and
you don't reproduce the bug; remove some lines from source — and again not
reproduced...
Corresponding assembly code which causes the error (from changing "-c" to
"-S"), from line 5343:
movl %eax, 16(%esp)
movl $0, 12(%esp)
Seems previous line appears partially (starting from "(") on the next one, and
second one is truncated starting from ",".
I'm not sure what component has this bug, seems this is related either to
string manipulation, or piping data between apps.

Fullscreen games which change resolution do not switch back to correct

I've had this problem with both Both The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the

When switching back, the screen remains at maximum resolution and the apps run

After doing 'winetricks vd=1024x768' to work around bug 34012,
continued with Altium Designer install. Next problem was
it refused to accept my username and password.
+relay,+seh,+wininet showed that it was crashing in InternetQueryOptionW()
somehow. The installer caught the crash, so there was no backtrace, but it
did give the address in the gui and said it was a read from NULL.
Passing that address to winedbg's disasm pointed to str_to_buffer().
The option it was retrieving was INTERNET_OPTION_PROXY_USERNAME;
evidently req->session->appInfo->proxyUsername was null.
This may be a regression introduced by the recent commit
bedf296a27d5689beb693637407829b0bd6d8a1c
The attached patch gets past this problem and on to the next.

I couldn't figure out why winedbg complained "Can't attach process 42db: error
87" when I typed "attach 17115". I know the PID of my Windows executable, as
provided by top, ps, System Activity, etc.
You need to supply the *Wine/Windows PID* of the process, e.g. using the "info
process" command to winedbg, and this *isn't* the UNIX pid. This is mentioned
further down in winedbg(1), but it would be so much clearer if the man page,
the "info process" command and other documentation consistently used "wpid", as
http://www.winehq.org/docs/winedev-guide/debugger does.
There is missing help that also needs to use "wpid":
* winedbg --help's usage output doesn't mention the --auto wpid usage (though I
couldn't get this to work).
* the help command within winedbg doesn't mention "attach wpid"

I wrote a simple program make a query of "select * from Win32_Directory" to
WMI, and it crashes every time. But it works well on XP.
And I find that it's caused by the funtion of seed_dirs(), in
dlls/wbemprox/builtin.c at line 1086, without checking if "const struct expr
*cond" is NULL. So when it's NULL code "cond->u.expr.left" would lead to the
crash.
I found it on version 1.6 at first, and then downloaded v1.7 to install and
the problem still exists.

minimal fix for a clipping problem
This is sort of bug 25717 revisited, in that that a problem, that happened
shortly before it was fixed, has popped up again.
I haven't been checking it in awhile, but today I did, then had to trace it
back to 1.5.26.
After a bisect, it came to commit "gdiplus: GdipMeasureCharacterRanges should
treat empty layout extents as infinite when StringFormatFlagsNoClip is
specified.".
Clipping went broken again, resulting in invisible text.
Minimal fix attached and sent to wine-patches.
As I said, it's the clipping again - without resetting < 0.5 to (1<< 23), 'if
(!(format_flags & StringFormatFlagsNoClip) && scaled_rect.Width != 1 << 23 &&
scaled_rect.Height != 1 << 23)' condition doesn't go into effect.

Summary: number.c could not compile due to "dtoa" naming

Product: Wine

dlls/jscript/number.c could not compile on Cygwin (on Windows 7) due to a
naming conflict of name "dtoa". Apparently the name "dtoa" was already used in
wine/port.h
I was able to fix this issue and compile Wine properly by renaming all
instances of "dtoa" and "DTOA" to "dtoaa" and "DTOAA", respectively, in the
number.c file.

The page fault's backtrace.
Hello,
I have just compiled the latest git wine version.
wine-1.7.0-114-g73aef40
When I do
cd ~/lol/LoL_Prefix/drive_c/Riot\ Games/League\ of\ Legends && wine
./lol.launcher.exe
the LoL welcome window appears, with its prominent "Play" button.
Then when I click the "Play" button, a new large window appears with an
"Account Login" form that prompts for the account and password, and almost
simultaneously the Wine "Program Error" window appears, reporting a crash at
dlls/winmm/waveform.c:273 (see attached file backtrace.txt).
According to traces I added, I think I have located the problem.
Except from waveform.c's WOD_Open() function:
if(WINMM_IsMapper(info->req_device)){
devices = g_out_mapper_devices;
mmdevice = read_map(g_out_map, 0);
lock = &g_devthread_lock;
internal_index = MAPPER_INDEX;
When the user requests the WAVE_MAPPER, the code calls read_map() with device
index 0 without first checking whether the number of devices is greater than 0.
Could you please have a look?
Thanks!
Best regards
Fabrice

programs/cabarc/cabarc.c could not compile on Cygwin (Windows 7), due to an
issue with variable _O_ACCMODE. Apparently _O_ACCMODE was not being defined
properly, which was causing a reference error on line 152 (switch (oflag &
_O_ACCMODE)).
I was able to resolve this issue and compile Wine successfully by replacing
_O_ACCMODE in line 152 with 1, making the line: switch (oflag & 1). I'm not
sure if this is correct, but it did at least solve my immediate problem.

There used to be a bug in Sins of a Solar Empire that caused fonts to be
improperly sized in-game. They did not fit the boundaries of the UI elements
they were inserted into. The problem was fixed quite some time back but it has
reappeared in 1.6-rc3. I have tried up to 1.6-rc5 and the problem is there. If
I go back to 1.6-rc2 the problem goes away. This effects all of Sins
expansions, including Rebellion, as well.

Wine MeGUI console log (first run)
ARCH-Linux x86_64 (fully updated). Clean win32 prefix.
MeGUI (OpenSource GUI wrapper for various video encoding utilities) download
latest build at:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/megui/files/latest/download?source=files
Install:
winetricks dotnet11
winetricks dotnet20
winetricks gdiplus
(all successfully install)
I've also tried installing avisynth 2.5.8 and K-Lite-Mega-Codec-Pack-7.8
(does step makes little difference to the MeGUI program crash).
MeGUI will run. Update itself. Updates are stored in a local /update_cache
folder as zip'd/7z'd archives. Gets to a stage of asking for a system restart.
Whether you say "yes" or "no" (and manually shutdown MeGUI with the "Exit" menu
option) the program eventually crashes. The Wineserver shuts down. Starting
MeGUI again results in an immediate crash.
This a deal breaker for the software. The download MeGUI zip archive needs to
be updated to extract the tools in the /update_cache folder. Otherwise there
will not be any encoders available to use. Earlier installable executable
version of MeGUI exhibits an identical crash when updated...
