I've not been seeing any problems starting Gothic II + AddOn for a while now.
I'm using wine-1.7.0, game version 2.6 and a NoCD-fix (German).
Fabian, maybe you're trying to play with music enabled but didn't install
native directmusic? Looks like that in the crash log. 'winetricks directmusic'
or set musicEnabled=0 in Gothic.INI. winetricks sets more overrides than you
need. I had to remove the dsound override or it would crash with an error
window popping up: "C: failed to initialize sound, MSS reported: Broken waveOut
driver – ’buffer done’ flag never set". This is the issue Xavier reported in
comment 20.

Crash log with wine 1.7
Still present in wine 1.7
I installed the game, the addon (Night of the Raven), the official 2.6 patch
and a NoCD fixed exe.
The game starts, vdfs32g crashes immediately, but the game continues.
At the intro I can hear sound, but have no video. After the intro the game
crashes.

Lest Detlef dies or is otherwise incapacitated before this is resolved, some
reproduction instructions would be greatly appreciated :)
According to README.TXT, "Configuring `RedMon` is not a job for novices."
I ran `wine setup.exe` and got a window that says, "Installation
successful.\nProcedure not found." The title of this window is "Redmon -
Redirection..." (and I can't read the rest).
If I'm correct, this program acts like a soft printer that receives print
instructions and sends them to another program's standard in pipe. So if I
print a file to this printer, it could then be fed to ghostscript to create a
pdf file, right?
This seems like a useful and interesting program, but perhaps some reproduction
instructions for a simple task, say, create a (redmon) printer port that echoes
to disk and print from notpad to this port would be quite useful.

Sc2 does not even open a window. It crashes before the login screen. It ran
very fine until patch #14.
Sometimes i get the planet in the background rendered, and it crashes bevore
the login screen.
The blizzard crash reporter reason for the crash is:

occurred at 0023:04EEE0FA. The memory at '0x00000000' could not be written.

Starcraft 2 randomly loses sound. To get it back I need to open 'Options' menu
in Starcraft 2. Sometimes (very rarely) sound gets back without such
intervention.
In PulseAudio logs there is only information that connection was closed. There
is nothing significant in wine logs.
I also experienced similar sound-off in Half-Life 2 (and ep1,2).

4. Compare with behavior in windows — there a newline followed by a new prompt
appears, much like in bash, instead of quitting cmd.

Wine logs from when you launch the application to when it crashes
Description of problem:
While playing StarCraft II, the application crashes. Usually while starting or
finishing a game.
How reproducible:
Just play some games. There's one game which reproduces this crash a 100% of
the times.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to multiplayer game.
2. Select the option "Join game".
3. Select "Desert strike" in most popular games.
4. After loading the game and before starting, it crashes.
Additional info:
This problem is related to this version (1.3.33) of Wine, as in 1.3.29 it
didn't happen. [*]

archives seem to work fine.

How to produce:
Launch Starcraft 2 with another ingame resolution set than Gnome desktop
resolution. The resolution changes, Starcraft 2 launches, but it appears behind
the panels (gnome-panel). There is seemingly no way to bring it to front. When
exiting the game the resolution is still unchanged and has to be changed
manually. Also the mouse clicks about 2cm above where the pointer actually is.
So to exit I put the mouse 2cm below the exit button.
Expected behavior:
Resolution changes, Starcraft 2 launches and covers whole screen. When ending
the game the desktop resolution should be restored.
How to circumvent the bug:
Start Starcraft 2. Exit the game. Start game once again. It now appears as it
should.

How it happened:
Right click, go to properties, tick "allow executing program" and set Wine as
default program. After that, double click it, and after a while, the error pops
up. I did not even see the program's logo yet.
I did not tweak Wine in any way as I have just installed it. LMMS used it for
its VSTs too, so I am not sure if there is any relations.

Sorry, it's just that I wanted to say before you release a new version.
Since several Wine versions many - not say nearly all but one - of mine Windows
applications stopped working.
I have now tested and found that V1.5.24 works perfectly e.g. with Dragon Age
II, while 1.6-rc4 doesn't even let me to the configuration screen.
Same prefix. Same compilation options (I use Gentoo, therefore I can change,
and I tried, but without any success...)
Please give me a hint how I exactly can help.

This has just started happening with Starcraft 2 patch 1.2.0, though I'm fairly
sure it's a new (buggy) codepath being exercised in Wine and not simply a bug
in SC2, as nobody else online appears to be experiencing the issue.
Basically, when trying to use the store in Storm of the Imperial Sanctum (a
custom map), SC2 crashes. Full steps to reproduce:
1. Launch SC2, log in to Battle.net.
2. Click the multiplayer tab.
3. In the "Custom Games" box, select "Create a Game".
4. Search for "Imperial".
5. Create a game with the map, "Storm of the Imperial Sanctum".
6. From the game lobby, start the game.
7. After the map loads, select any hero (it doesn't matter which).
8. Click the warp prism near the top left of the pool of water your hero is now
standing in.
9. Select the second "tab" in the dialog that opens up.
10. Select "Vernal Inhibitor", the leftmost item in the top row.
11. Wait a few seconds.
12. Observe crash.
There's probably timing or other non-obvious factors involved in this bug,
because it's not 100% deterministic, though I've been able to quite reliably
reproduce the crash with the above steps. During normal play of the map,
similar steps would be taken at least a dozen times (if not more), although
from experience, the crash only occurs a fraction of those times. Needless to
say, a crash is virtually guaranteed in every normal play of the map.
Unfortunately, Wine does not appear to produce a backtrace when this crash
occurs, and the default debug output looks very mundane. On the other hand, the
Blizzard crash handler does normally show up, and I've sent in several crash
reports to them with it, but I'm not optimistic that they'll do anything useful
with them.
The Wine version in question here is today's git (wine-1.3.11-151-geb11dee),
although I also verified that the problem is identical in both wine-1.3.11 and
wine-1.3.4 as well.

Wine trace followed by blizzard error log
Starcraft 2 crashes at Startup with the Blizzard ErrorReporter. I have a Quadro
FX 1800 with 768MB, that Starcraft says is a Geforce 8300 GS with 128MB. The
console errors say that the adapter is out of memory.
Attached are the wine error trace and Blizzard error trace. I am running 1.3.36
compiled from source.

user.def under [Control Panel\\Desktop]

you can download a small app to send information to the tax-service in order to
get subvention for childcare.
The app installed fine and i could fill in all forms without problem. But after
i put in my credentials to send it to the tax-service, an serious error occured
and the app has to shut down. The app-dialog underneeth the error-screen says
'sending failed () see help'.
After the app is closed I also get an error from Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
library stating "Runtime error: R6025 'pure virtual function call'"

Could there be a Whole hard drive compress button so we can compress the
hard-drives and not use the 7 Zip or any thing like that?
Is it possible to make a Program to Compress a Hard Drive so much and make 10X
more then ur hard Drive has?--
like if 1 has a 500 GB hard Drive and compress so much it then have a 5 TB hard
Drive worth all the stuff that is compressed... most likely maybe slowish but
could be worth it if that could happen?

Console output
Starcraft II has always worked fine for me, but since the latest patch 2.0.10,
it just fails to start. I see up to the login screen, then crashes, and I'm
greeted with the Blizzard error report tool.
It's either that, or the newest version of wine (1.6), those are the only two
things that have changed AFAIK.

Running the game, the main menu and start screen work fine. However, during
gameplay, only a black screen is rendered with the UI. Nothing seems to be
happening in the game(only ambient sounds are heard). There also appears to be
no way to get back to the menu(as far as I could tell).

Ignore MotionNotify events when XI2 is enabled
When XInput2 takes over the mouse, regular MotionNotify events continue to be
handled alongside it. This causes the cursor to erratically skip around when
the slower method (X11 input) tries to reposition the cursor while XInput2 is
already handling future events.

When trying to download Wine 1.6-rc5 using Macports, Macports states that
1.6-rc4 is the latest version. As a result, it is not possible to provide AppDB
test data for 1.6-rc5 on MacOSX using MacPorts.
