All movies are stored in "MAINDIRECTORYOFTHEGAME/data/FMV" in mpg format. Their

I can load the game to the main menu, but when I start a new game (either the

reaches 100%.
There is no crash dialog or backtrace, it is the game's own error reporting
application (CrashScreen.exe) which is intended to start there (requires
mfc42).
To reproduce the problem with the demo version:
1. Install the demo as usual, then start the game with DemoE5.exe. Dismiss the
error message about missing 'Log' directory.
2. In the main menu choose <New game>, <Tutorial>. The game begins to load but
it quits suddenly as soon as the loading bar reaches the top.

I'm using the Expert Software distribution of Sega's Sonic 3D Blast.
The wine prefix is in a 240M loopback disk, needed to bypass the size check in
the installer because otherwise it thinks that the drive isn't as big as the 5M
it requires for install.
Steps to reproduce:
wine explorer
navigate to the cdrom device
run Install.exe
Click next a few times to install the documentation.
Leave the checkbox to run setup checked (otherwise the game itself is not
installed)
Click OK to install the game to C:\Sega\Sonic3d
The fault appears to happen when trying to install DirectX, but there is no
option to skip the DirectX install.

Please read additional details in the notes for the entry in the AppDB:

As a workaround, I attach the patch I am using to play.
I also attach a WINEDEBUG=+win log of a duel (the Duel happens towards the
end).
In the log, please note the most important windows:
hwnd = 0x100aa : this is the Player Hand that "disappears" below the Player
territory. In the Log look for:

Among the dozen versions of Wine which I tested (ranging from 0.9.32 to 1.1.36,

correctly in the top row of the screen the items that the player collects in

related to some inventory items, the newer ones typically display nothing.
Moving the mouse over the item's position still describes them, but it would be
a PITA to play the game this way.

Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.54.
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor

Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: Simetrical+wine(a)gmail.com
When playing Neverwinter Nights 2, version 1.11.1153 (no expansion pack),
sometimes in outdoors environments all textures are white or gray, making
navigation fairly hard. Apparently this occurs only during the daytime. I've
attached a debug log from me starting the game, loading a saved game exhibiting
the problem, wandering around for a minute, and then exiting, with debug
options: warn+all,debug+all,err+all,+trace.
Some relevant-looking lines that are repeated very frequently are:
warn:d3d_shader:IWineD3DVertexShaderImpl_CompileShader Swizzled attribute
validation required an expensive comparison
fixme:d3d_shader:shader_glsl_select >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION
(0x502) from glUseProgramObjectARB @ glsl_shader.c / 3226
Especially the second. But what do I know. :) If there's anything else I can
do to help (screenshot? different debug options?) please say.
See also comment at
<http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=10531>:
"The outdoor setting that was used in many of the towns and villages had light
problems. The problem seemed to arise at daytime, and seemed to be a result of
incorrectly handled light effects. It resulted in a screen that was too bright,
often so bright that nothing at all could be seen. The only remedy was either
to wait for the night to kick in or to try to navigate using the map which was
really annoying."

I run Wine 1.5.10 on Arch Linux using an Intel HD 3000 graphics solution and
the corresponding driver.
It’s hard to explain what the game looks like, so please just have a look at
the screenshots in the first comment.
Of course, this could as well be an issue with my graphics driver. However, I
think this is somehow related to Wine. Using older versions of Wine the game
looks different. Again, just have a look at the screenshots.
You can find the terminal output in the attachment.

In every Wine version I tested –– 1.0.1, 1.1.42, 1.3.36 and 1.5.6 –– the
keyboard mapping shows the annoying habit that several keys don't get
associated with a symbol; XF86Explorer reports „(0) No Symbol (0) No Symbol (0)
No Symbol…” to stderr for ^ (or ~ on german keyboards), the windows and menu
keys, and some keys on the keypad. This is regardless of the X11 keymap used
in xorg.conf or the one set via gnome/kde keyboard switchers, even of input
methods like ibus, uim, or scim (I deactivated them all and tried plain „C”
locale with latin-1 instead of utf-8). Curiously, in GUI applications these
keys work, but they don't in DirectX applications, like games (eg. the TES
series or shooters) or rendering/modeling engines.

Since support for mouse events through XInput2 was added to wine (version
1.3.18), I am occasionally having trouble with Uru - Complete Chronicles
(appdb:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=10836). I set
up Uru to run in windowed mode, and a shortcut in KDE to minimize a window.
Sometimes, when I do that, the mouse ends up being caught in a tiny square (I'd
estimate of about 50px) in the bottom left screen corner. I can not move it
out, and clicking does not have any effect, at least not in the button that's
actually drawn there (the K-Menu). Hitting the minimize shortcut again to
minimize whatever window got the focus, releases the mouse. Unfortunately, this
is not reproducible.

This is to report some more formatting bugs in Wine winhlp32. I don't know
whether the underlying cause is related to bug 14288 but in this case the
effect is different so I opted to open a new bug.
Open the attached relnotes.hlp file in Wine winhlp32 and compare with Windows
winhlp32.
Click Known Problems. In Wine winhlp32, there is are grey lines drawn around
and in the Order/NLM/Software table (there should not be any outline). All the
text which should be below the table is missing.
The same issue occurs in the Sample code table in the Notes and Recommendations
section.
In the Optimizing Performance section, the table is badly broken (and text
which should be below it is missing); each "Copy file" entry appears in a large
box, and the corresponding "To optimize the performance of" entries are
missing.

After install, the normal way to start the patcher/launcher is to run
eonpatch_r.exe; that hangs for me unless I start it with WINEDEBUG=+winsock.
Once I do that, I can update the game. Pressing PLAY will (when it's in the
mood) launch ClientLauncherG.exe, but that aborts quickly, right after
tbb.dll attaches.
I'll attach a +relay log.

I searched for another bug report on this but did not find anything. I've
tested the same application on two similar systems with similar software loads.
Essentially, the application (Majesty) preforms considerably better on a
single core system than it does on a more powerful dual core system.
Single Core System:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3300+
1.5 Gig RAM
GeForce 6200 256M
Dual Core System:
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
2 Gig RAM
GeForce 7800 256M
Both systems are running Debian Etch, with kernel version 2.6.18-5-k7, NVIDIA
GLX Module 100.14.19, and Wine 0.9.53 (using Scott's packages).
I would expect the dual core system to run as well, if not better, than the
single core system. However, it is extremely sluggish on the dual core system
and blazingly fast (in some cases needing to be slowed down) on the single
core.
I have also tested the dual core system with 0.9.54 (built using Scott's 0.9.53
package as a basis), with no improvement. I'll happily provide any additional
information that would be helpful.

mmdevapi capture test from native w7 machine
Most wineXYZ audio drivers do not handle mmdevapi capture overrun correctly. In
particular, the ALSA & OSS drivers randomly overwrite old with new data,
depending on the read pointer within the capture buffer.
Native roughly supports, with some quirks, a scenario like:
Initialize(duration=Xms);
Start;
Sleep(X+Yms); /* Y extra spare time */
Stop; /* optional, buffer is full now */
repeat GetBuffer/ReleaseBuffer until (hr != S_OK);
The goal is to obtain one buffer (~Xms) full of data.
The attached log from a w7 machine shows what packet gets recorded at what time
by tracing GetBuffer's performance counter output parameter (qpc). The key
data points are:
>capture.c:544: rate: 48000
>capture.c:293: GetBufferSize 23941 period size 480
>capture.c:248: Sleep.1 position 480 pad 16800 flags 0, frames locked: 480
>capture.c:250: sleep qpc=67335132
>capture.c:293: GetBufferSize 23941 period size 480
>capture.c:303: Overrun position 1440 pad 23941 flags 1, frames locked: 480
>capture.c:305: overrun qpc=67355139
This position and qpc jump of exactly one period I don't understand.
>capture.c:331: Cont'ed position 1920 pad 23461 flags 0, frames locked: 480
>capture.c:333: cont'ed qpc=67365133
>qpc=67375139 0 position 2400 pad 22981 flags 0, next 480, frames locked: 480
>qpc=67385135 1 position 2880 pad 22501 flags 0, next 480, frames locked: 480
Note how position correlates with 10ms increments of qpc (in µs).
>qpc=67795152 42 position 22560 pad 3301 flags 0, next 480, frames locked: 480
>qpc=67805153 43 position 23040 pad 2821 flags 0, next 480, frames locked: 480
>qpc=67815148 44 position 23520 pad 2341 flags 0, next 421, frames locked: 421
>qpc=67823919 45 position 23520 pad 1920 flags 0, next 59, frames locked: 59
>qpc=67825154 46 position 24000 pad 1861 flags 0, next 480, frames locked: 480
>qpc=67835147 47 position 24480 pad 1381 flags 1, next 421, frames locked: 421
>qpc=68085155 48 position 36480 pad 960 flags 1, next 480, frames locked: 480
>capture.c:352: Test failed: Valid IAudioCaptureClient_GetBuffer: 08890001
>qpc=68085155 49 position -1 pad 480 flags 1, next 0, frames locked: 0
qpc indicates that old packets are being delivered until iteration <48, where
another position jump occurs.
Summary:
- I don't know where native's 23941 frames buffer comes from.
It's neither a multiple of the period size nor of 1024.
- Upon underrun, a DISCONTINUITY is immediately signaled and one
packet is skipped. The latter is weird. (I'm wondering whether
native overwrites one packet within the circular buffer as an
overrun detector, then skips it?).
+ Then, almost a full buffer of old packets can be retrieved with
GetBuffer.
- While the full buffer is 49 * 480 + 421, only 48 * 480 + 421 frames
can be retrieved with a qpc indicating pre-overrun times.
- The last old packet is flagged with DISCONTINUITY too (iteration 47).
I'd have expected solely the following one to bear this mark.
+ When there's room again in the buffer, GetBuffer yields new packets
(iteration 48). Both position and qpc reflect the overrun gap that
appears to have last for 250ms. DISCONTINUITY is set too.
- There's some strange packet splitting at iterations 44-45 that may
correspond to a wrap-around of native's buffer.
I wonder why native does not limit buffer to multiples of period size.
- Note that the position 23520 of the 59 frames fragment rest is the
same as that of the previous 421 frames packet. A bug in native?
The qpc is different and looks ok.
+ GetNextPacket exactly matches the following GetBuffer, even when it
yields less than one packet, e.g. 421/59/480.
- GetCurrentPadding >= period size does not imply a successful GetBuffer,
see iteration 49. Only GetNextPacket correlates fine. A bug in native?

Wine 1.3.16 is as far back as I tested. For 1.3.16, 1.3.20, 1.4 rc 1, and 1.4
rc 2, if you uncheck the Microsoft DirectX Media check, this will allow the
installer to succeed, whereas if you don't uncheck that, it will fail.
When it fails (DirectX check left checked), it stops at about 100%. When it
succeeds (DirectX check unchecked), it goes to 116%, in the case of the
versions mentioned above.
There were some versions there for a while, somewhere not too far after 1.3.29,
that went to 117% when you didn't uncheck the DirectX test and they failed, and
when you did uncheck the DirectX test, the installer stopped at 100% and
succeeded. Whereas with these other versions it doesn't go over if you _don't_
uncheck it and does go over if you _do_ uncheck_ it. It still held true that
unchecking let it succeed and leaving it checked caused it to fail.
So this is a separate bug from the installer simply crashing.
Notice how this is different than the DirectX check bug: 29806. This is about
the installer going over 100%.
I get this 9 times in terminal from when the installer crashes in the case of
1.3.16, 1.3.20, 1.4 rc 1, and 1.4 rc 2:

Summary: mciwave breaks on MSDN example
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.30
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winmm&mci
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
I'm reviewing mciwave and mciseq and found numerous issues. Concurrently, I'm
augmenting the MCI testsuite. I've attached my current mciwave
work-in-progress tests to give you an early insight into my work.
The tests so far confirm my model of MCI: I view it like an old-fashioned tape
deck with buttons, which you can press in any order. Still there's error
checking, e.g. you can't resume when stopped. Like a tape deck, you can switch
from playing to recording at any time.
Oddly, you can combine fast forward and play in one command, but not rewind
with play.
The attached tests work fine on (at least one machine with) MS-Windows, but
cause Wine to fail and hang in multiple ways. You've been warned!
I'd be pleased if people could run the tests on more instances of MS-Windows.
I plan to strip down this test file until it at least does not hang anymore in
Wine. Then only can it be submitted. Concurrently, I can submit patches to
the mci* codebase.
Current issues with the mci code in Wine are:
- not distinguishing between STOPPING and STOPPED, PLAYING and GOING TO PLAY,
etc.;
- seriously broken asynchronous execution;
- non-error-proof use of InterlockDecrement. It must only be called
when waveInAddBuffer and waveOutWrite succeed, as those cause
callbacks to happen;
- RIFF .wav file not always correctly written;
- the mmio is as much as resource as the wave device and must be
properly released (mmioAscend, not only when saving);
- many items here and there:
+ bogus 44000Hz frequency;
+ premature return (in mcicda);
+ conversion between #bytes and samples;
+ switching fInput while playing;
+ copy&paste errors (InterlockedDecrement need be initialised
differently when recording and playing)
The major issue is concurrency. There I'm not sure how to proceed and rewrite
mciwave (and mciseq and mcicda).
o One model, Erlang-like, which the OSS driver also implements, is one thread
per play and exclusively using message passing to receive commands. This would
simplify NOTIFY everywhere. It clearly offers the advantage of being closest
to the sequential execution model that is easy to reason about. IMHO, it does
not play nicely with the pause command (state machine).
o Continue as currently written, but then think twice and even 3-7 times about
how to perform locking among the concurrent threads:
- Put InterlockIncrement() to more uses?
- Put Events to more uses?
- Unlike mciavi, there's no CriticalSection in mciwave and mcicda, yet
I'm unconvinced that the current synchronisation via volatile dwStatus
can suffice.
- But then, identifying the critical sections will be tedious and error prone.
o Combinations of both, e.g. one thread per play or record (not unlike the
present code), and dealing (correctly) with PAUSE, STOP and RESUME inside it
(via e.g. events to restart a paused thread, or indirectly, by relying on the
callbacks+events sent when invoking waveOutRestart and waveInStart -- is it
legal at all to call those from a different thread)?
o Is there any other concurrency model suitable in Wine?
Regards,
Jörg Höhle

Duplicated uuids in a typelib will cause troubles with typeinfo lookup. Midl
refuses to generated such typelibs, but it looks like it might have a more
strict constraint - uuid should be unique in a file, and we don't want it to be
that strict (see bug 27718).

the setup proceeds normally, through the welcome screen,
quicktime installer prompt (though QuickTime 16bit 2.1.1 installation didn't

But as soon as the file copying window disappeared, the installer froze, no

Summary: Clang Static Analyzer: Null path
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.22
Hardware: x86-64
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2

Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: lukebenes(a)hotmail.com
Clang Static Analyzer identifies Null path
File: dlls/crypt32/rootstore.c
Location: line 413, column 10
Description: Null pointer passed as an argument to a 'nonnull' parameter
static BOOL import_certs_from_path(LPCSTR path,
HCERTSTORE store, BOOL allow_dir)
{
...
fd = open(path, O_RDONLY);
//Clang: Null pointer passed as
//an argument to a 'nonnull' parameter
...
}
To understand why Clang suspects that NULL may get here, let's examine the
fragment where this function is called:
static BOOL import_certs_from_dir(LPCSTR path, HCERTSTORE store)
{
...
char *filebuf = NULL;
//Clang: 'filebuf' initialized to a null pointer value
struct dirent *entry;
while ((entry = readdir(dir)))
{
...
size_t name_len = strlen(entry->d_name);
//Calling function to change filebuf
if (!check_buffer_resize(&filebuf, &bufsize,
path_len + 1 + name_len + 1))
{
ERR(...);
break;
}
snprintf(filebuf, bufsize, "%s/%s", path, entry->d_name);
if (import_certs_from_path(filebuf, store, FALSE) && !ret)
//Clang: Passing null pointer value via 1st parameter 'path'
//Clang: Calling 'import_certs_from_path'
ret = TRUE;
...
}
}
In this code, the check_buffer_resize function is called where either the value
of the filebuf variable must change or FALSE must be returned; but the function
may fail to change filebuf and return TRUE instead. Take a look at the
function's code below:
static BOOL check_buffer_resize(char **ptr_buf,
size_t *buf_size, size_t check_size)
{
if (check_size > *buf_size)
{
...
*ptr_buf = CryptMemAlloc(*buf_size);
...
}
return TRUE;
}
The function contains only one condition where the ptr_buf variable is changed,
and if this condition is false, the true return result will allow you to use
this variable further on.
A similar issue is with the memcpy() function:
File: server/directory.c
Location: line 548, column 21
Description: Null pointer passed as an argument to a 'nonnull' parameter

Clang Static Analyzer identifies Uninitialized array item
File: dlls/avifil32/api.c
Location: line 1753, column 10
Description: Assigned value is garbage or undefined
#define MAX_AVISTREAMS 8
...
HRESULT WINAPI AVISaveVW(....int nStreams ....)
{
...
//Declaring 8-item array, [0..7]
PAVISTREAM pInStreams[MAX_AVISTREAMS];

return AVIERR_INTERNAL;
}
...
//Initializing first 7 items, [0..6].
for (curStream = 0; curStream < nStreams; curStream++) {
pInStreams[curStream] = NULL;
pOutStreams[curStream] = NULL;
}
...
for (curStream = 0; curStream < nStreams; curStream++) {
...
if (curStream + 1 >= nStreams) {
/* move the others one up */
PAVISTREAM *ppas = &pInStreams[curStream];
int n = nStreams - (curStream + 1);
do {
*ppas = pInStreams[curStream + 1];
//Clang: Assigned value is garbage or undefined
} while (--n);
}
...
}
...
}
In this code, an array of 8 items is declared. The code will continue executing
as long as the nStreams variable is less than 8, i.e. 7 at most. All the loops
in this function with the conditional statement (curStream < nStreams) fail to
iterate through the last item, both before its initialization and when using
it. The line Clang displayed the message on is just that very line where the
eighth item with the index 7 is taken, as the (curStream + 1 >= nStreams)
condition will be true at curStream==6 and nStreams==7. Addressing the
pInStreams[curStream + 1] array will give us the last, previously uninitialized
item.

The presence of the window manager should be detected and, if it is not

The code will continue executing if the palette_size variable is larger than or

one and then decremented by one. As a result, the 'i' variable will remain
equal to zero, which will cause the division-by-zero error.

Summary: [Japanese Font]Wine default fonts replacements for MS
fonts are not beautiful.
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.13
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: fonts
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: matyapiro31(a)gmail.com
This is not enough to be called a bug.
However,many or almost all Japanese wine user complain that the Ume fonts are
not beautiful and download the MS Mincho font.
I think this is because wine does not use system font.
(such as Takao Mincho in Ubnutu,Hiragino in OSX).

During battle sequences, there is a graphical effect which causes a fullscreen
blur for the player to activate a quick-time event and press a button. During
these effects, the game's video freezes for some time before resuming; the
audio continues playing as normal for the duration.
It's likely that this occurs both in the demo and the full game.
I am willing and able to provide any debug output on demand.

With the GetOpenFile() code path, Ableton does not crash. But with the

has different result values than the Windows one and that would explain why
Ableton crashes.

Summary: SimCity2000: race condition causes crash in MCI during
startup
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: winmm&mci
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hoehle(a)users.sourceforge.net
Created an attachment (id=28457)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=28457)
mci+winmm trace & crash backtrace
The attached log shows a crash that is triggered because the asynchronous
mciseq/mcimidi player is still attempting to open the device while the main
thread already successfully called MCI_CLOSE.
The mcimidi player does not implement proper locking. Unlike mciwave, its state
variable is not yet set to MCI_MODE_PLAY when opening the MIDI device, which
lets MCI_CLOSE not see something is busy playing.
Actually, even looking at mciwave, one can construct unfortunate sequences of
scheduling that would cause mciwave to hang in such a situation. So there's no
trivial patch simply moving
wmm->dwStatus = MCI_MODE_PLAY;
a couple of lines up.
The crash generally occurs when starting SimCity 2000 using
"wine 'C:\Program...\Game\simcity.exe'"
Curiously, "wine start simcity.exe" always works. As I said, it's a race
condition.
It seems like sometimes, the initialisation of WINMM and MIDI takes a long
time.
The bug is then triggered when MCI_CLOSE is called by the application.
MCI_CLOSE is called, among others, when clicking "exit" in the initial menu.
Often enough, the app crashes before showing this menu. IMHO, the fact that the
app calls MCI_CLOSE that early is triggered by another bug in Wine that AppDB
testers have mentioned every now and often, but never put to Bugzilla: SimCity
2000 starts fine (showing its logo) when using full screen mode, but needs a
resize or uniconify when using a virtual desktop: then presumably, the app
sends MCI_CLOSE to stop the music, causing or not a crash via the present race
condition.
BTW, since the crash occurs in the asynchronous MCI MIDI player, the app
nevertheless works...
This issue has nothing to do with the bug, presumably in the app, that "wine
simcity.exe" crashes whereas "wine 'c:\full\path\simcity.exe'" (should) work.

Now that bug #8433 has been fixed, the game can get past the initial loading
screen without crashing, but the screen is not refreshing after the loading
screen is displayed. You can hear audio playing and various text is displayed
(overwritten) on the loading screen.
At some point menu options appear at the bottom of the screen and you can start
a new game by pressing <Enter>. You can hear audio from the game but the screen
is still showing the corrupted loading screen.
Setting OffscreenRenderingMode to backbuffer acts as a workaround. One of the
drawbacks of this setting is that the opening screens showing the graphic card
and input setup are displayed upside down. Once the game begins to load, the
screen is displayed normally.
Performance is abysmal when you start a new game but I don't know if this is
due to the backbuffer setting.

In some applications providing text output, the output cannot be read because
the glyphs are mispaced and overlapped one to the other. Possibly this happens
when the text is monospaced.
To test
1) Install LTSpice this is an application given for free actually promoting the
use of Wine (http://www.linear.com/designtools/software/#LTspice)
2) Run the software
3) File->New Schematic
4) View->Spice Netlist
This only shows a couple of lines, because there is actually no schematic. But
typically the software can provide a lot of textual output that is rather
unreadable, making the software not very useful. The only work around is to
select the text, copy it into the clipboard, paste it into an editor to read.

Summary: uninstaller has no proper usage message
Product: Wine
Version: 1.3.26
Platform: x86
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: fgouget(a)codeweavers.com
First uninstaller uses WINE_ERR() to tell the user he got the usage wrong (like
when he forgets a parameter). That's wrong as this is not a Wine error.
Second it never prints a usage message thus leaving the user guessing.
Finally if run in the wineconsole the user will see no output at all but that's
a somewhat independent issue (see bug 28185).

Ran under Wine, the following program receives ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE as a
Windows last error when the flushing call fails.
Note that if you are testing under Windows Vista, you need to run the program
with administrative privileges to be able to get the handle to the volume.
For brevity, I've omitted GetLastError() printing for failure cases except the
flushing one, but, needless to say, you may want to add them for full
correctness / error handling / safety, or do let me know and I'll happily add
these and re-post the code.

do exactly this:
env WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-some-app /usr/local/wine-install-dir/wine
~/path/windows-app-installer.exe
the resulting desktop icon, in properties, would have under command, the
following:
env WINEPREFIX="~/.wine-app" wine "C:\Program Files\Path\app.exe"

What I'd like it to have is:
env WINEPREFIX="~/.wine-app" /usr/local/wine-install-dir/wine "C:\Program

Component: cmd
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: vicmarcal(a)hotmail.com
The bug appears when testing:
wine cmd /C for /R %i in (*.exe) do %i
Seems there is a parsing error:
$ wine cmd /C for /R %i in (*.exe) do %i
syntax error near unexpected token `('
`wine cmd /C for /R %i in (*.exe) do %i'
The command "wine cmd /C for /R %i in (*.exe) do %i" exited with 1.
The problem seems with the parsing since if I create a batch file(script.bat)
with:
for /R %%i in (*.exe) do %%i
and afterwards issue a:
wine cmd script.bat
The script is correctly executed.

Summary: cmd doesn't handle "else if" correctly in all cases
Product: Wine
Version: 1.7.28
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: cmd
Assignee: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Reporter: jbb.rose(a)yahoo.com
Distribution: ---
cmd.exe doesn't seem to handle "else if" constructs correctly in all
cases. This is making it difficult for me to run some complex build
scripts under wine.
Using this batch file:
C:\Users\bjj\Documents>type try.bat
@REM bjj test hack
@echo off
echo Args: "%1" "%2" "%3" "%4"
if /I "%1" == "DEBUG" (
echo It is debug
) else if /I "%1" == "RELEASE" (
echo It is release
) else if /I "%1" == "TRY" (
echo It is try
) else (
echo it is neither: "%1"
)
On Windows 7, all the branches seem to be handled correctly:
C:\Users\bjj\Documents>try foo
Args: "foo" "" "" ""
it is neither: "foo"
C:\Users\bjj\Documents>try DEBUG
Args: "DEBUG" "" "" ""
It is debug
C:\Users\bjj\Documents>try RELEASE
Args: "RELEASE" "" "" ""
It is release
C:\Users\bjj\Documents>try TRY
Args: "TRY" "" "" ""
It is try
However, on wine 1.7.28 the "else" branch is sometimes executed when
it shouldn't be:
W:\>try foo
Args: "foo" "" "" ""
it is neither: "foo"
W:\>try DEBUG
Args: "DEBUG" "" "" ""
It is debug
it is neither: "DEBUG"
W:\>try RELEASE
Args: "RELEASE" "" "" ""
It is release
it is neither: "RELEASE"
W:\>try TRY
Args: "TRY" "" "" ""
It is try
Judging from this example, it appears that the "else" clause is only skipped
if the final "if .. else if ..." clause is true. If one of the earlier
clasues is true, the final "else" is unexpectedly executed.
I haven't tried this batch file with earlier versions of wine.
Thanks,
Brian

I'm responsible for the development of a "simple" game engine, zenilib. It
compiles and runs natively under Linux, so most code isn't doing anything too
platform specific. The Windows build runs magnificently in Linux when using
OpenGL for rendering, but something is preventing applications from starting at
all when attempting to use Direct3D9.
You can download the engine and supporting files here:
http://zenilib.com/download/#vs
To reproduce:
1. unzip zenilib_0.4.1.0.zip
2. unzip zenilib_0.4.1.0_support.zip
3. cd zenilib/config
4. cat zenilib.xml | sed 's/OpenGL/DX9/' > temp && mv temp zenilib.xml

Wine log for xdnd

Bug is related to winamp, a windows music player (www.winamp.com). Other
applications may be affected by this bug.
Problem:
Every File drag and dropped to the playlist-window of winamp will duplicated.
It generates double entries for every file dropped to the playlist-window.
Version of wine:
This bug has been introduced since version 1.3x. In wine 1.2 everything is
fine.
Details:
If you drag drop a file to the main window of winamp, no duplicate entries will
be generated. But if you drop a file to the playlist-window (a window within
the winamp application), you will get two entries (duplicated). So it seems to
me that the bug is connected to how the drag drop code specifies the target
window.

For presentations, you usually have to change your screen to the right
resolution such that the external monitor / projector can display your slides.
However, I found that when you start PowerPoint 2007 using wine 1.2rc7 or more
specifically the wine server before adopting the screen resolution, then
PowerPoint or at least parts of it will stick to the former screen resolution.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Start your computer with a certain screen resolution, say 1280x1024
2. Start up PowerPoint 2007 with wine.
(Everything is fine, presentation mode works as expected)
3. Change screen resolution
4. Activate presentation mode
-> The presentation will be rendered to fit in the old screen resolution and
there is no way to change this.
Possibly this also affects other applications.

Using the Steam "Verify Integrity of Game Cache" option produces the following
in the GameValidation.log file:
Starting validation of Left 4 Dead 2
Validation failure: w:\games\steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead
2\left4dead2\bin\client.dll
Validation complete: 24850 Total Files, 1 Failed Validation
The file is then re-downloaded.
Rerunning the check produces the same results.
Deleting the file has no effect: it will be re-downloaded, and will fail the
validation check the next time you run it.
I noted that the message in the log showed "client.dll" as all lowercase, while
the filename is actually "Client.dll". I tried creating a link, but it still
failed the check. I tried renaming the DLL, and it still failed the check.
The game is installed on a BtrFS partition. I'm using Kubuntu 10.10 (AMD64),
kernel 2.6.35-22.

Hi All,
Oh now this is truly a pain in the neck (why the P2 priority). Lotus Approach
does not have scroll wheel support. In XP, you can load a utility called
"Flywheel" that will give you back your scroll wheel. Problem: flywheel does
not work in Wine.
Would you please enhance the mouse drives in Wine to support a function similar
to Flywheel to allow Approach to use the scroll wheel? Or, fix Wine to use
Flywheel?
Many thanks,

My system updated to Wine 1.5.7 this morning and since the game Ragnarok Online
has been unplayable due to performance issues.
This bug is also apparent in 1.5.8 but does not appear in 1.4.1
The game becomes horribly choppy and lags at insane levels. Through some
initial testing, it seems this is related the amount of objects drawn to the
screen and not sound issues that have been previously mentioned.
This is running on a quad core i5 with 16gb ram. Using Wine 1.5.8 I have tested
that Counter Strike Source can run with all settings maxed at a steady frame
rate of 80fps, while Ragnarok Online with all settings at minimum jumps between
1-5 and the 60 fps cap depending on how many sprites are on the screen.
Please email me if additional testing/support is needed. Always willing to
help.

I was using Age of Empires II in Wine 1.4.1 from Debian packages, and it worked
fine in general. I upgraded to Wine 1.7.4, and the mouse cursor is now
flickery, choppy, and sometimes jumps around randomly, making the game quite
annoying to play. Other aspects of the game seem to have lower framerate too,
but this is more subtle and I may be imagining things; the mouse cursor issue
is definitely the most noticeable.
I also got some crashes, but they are rare, random, and hard to reproduce.
I ran a full git bisect between 1.4.1 and 1.7.4 (which took me quite a while),
and identified 3c023a5db5538a7622d4518e8ce24d36e1c459b1 as the commit
introducing this regression ("wined3d: Just set the first render target to NULL
in wined3d_device_reset()"). The mouse cursor movement is absolutely smooth
right before that change.

Screenshots taken from LMMS 0.4.13, Crystal VST 32bit, Linux Mint 14 (nadia)
MATE 64-bit, VirtualBox
It seems with wine-1.5.24, there is problem with LMMS 0.4.13 and never lmms
windows builds(32/64bit) running on 64bit linux and wine.
How to reproduce:
If you load VST plugin via VeSTige, VST GUI is sometime transparent, see
attached screens, if you reload VST plugin GUI window (via on-screen VeSTige
button), GUI shows, but whenever VST GUI loses focus, for example you click on
some other lmms window, VST GUI window goes transparent again.
There is no error console output in while this happen. So no crash or debug
output.
It seems to concern wine-1.5.24
(http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-wine/ppa/ubuntu/), with with wine-1.4.1 there
are no problems.

invisible when screen is flickering and use workaround "change resolution" is

Between Wine 1.5.27 and 1.6-rc1, a regression occurred where Fate/Stay Night
(English Translation) by Type Moon began returning a black screen.
All functions (sound, etc) of the visual novel work. However, due to the black
screen, nothing can be read and none of the images can be seen. Also, although
save data can be saved and loaded, it is impossible to see what you are loading
or saving due to the black screen.
I would have submitted test data for v1.5.27, but I was unable to due to the
function for adding test data of wine versions before 1.6-rc1 being removed.
Wine 1.4.1 did not have the problem
Wine 1.5.27 did not have the problem
Wine 1.6-rc1 had the black screen
Wine 1.6-rc5 continues to have the black screen
Crossover 12.2.2 has the black screen
All five of the above were tested today, on July 22, 2013. No winetricks. I do
not know about the state of the bug in Wine 1.6 due to Macports not having
released a package for it.
Thank you.

Possible clue could be copy protection, but
1) crash also with CD in drive instead of mounted pr1.iso and
2) pr1.exe is perfectly working under XP SP2 on VirtualBox.
"Petit Robert 1.2" was issued before version 2 rated gold in AppDB entry #8729.
Unfortunately I do not have that CD version 2 but only CD version 1.2.
ISO could be downloaded at

I used to copy the pr1.iso DLL under .Wine as suggested somewhere but without
success : always same bug.
Same bug on at least 2 computers and 2 os : debian (squeeze) and ubuntu
(precise). Idem with previous Wine 1.4 or Wine 1.5.14 versions.

succeed.
Seems similar to bug #13388, except that nowhere can I find mention of

log "wine Launcher.exe"
/dev/ttyACM0 is the device that appears when i connect my mobile phone with the
USB cable.
Note that gammu/wammu detects my phone on this port but can't connect either.
Samsung PC Studio doesn't give any messages as to why it can't connect, it
doesn't even say it can't.
This bug might be a duplicate of some other usb/serial port device bug, but i
leave that to the judgement of somebody with more experience.
Attached is the log from running "wine Launcher.exe"

Patcher of Perfect World (from mail.ru, v.149) spends at least 2 seconds per
every file it checks and also 3 (or more) secs per every file it updates.
Patcher utilizes one entire core of my CPU when checking/updating.
Seems like it is a graphical problem because of window with alpha channel?...
Xubuntu 12.10 32-bit, Geforce GT 630, AMD Athlon x64 2x2600Hz if it matters

With Wine (on Mac OS X), starting with version 1.5.1, the games rFactor and GTR
2 run slowly / run with laggy jerky video (which they didn't do so with Wine
versions 1.5.0 and earlier).
(And, also, I think that, with Wine (on Mac OS X), starting with Wine version
1.5.1, the program VSTHost maybe runs using more CPU power? / runs less
efficiently? (than it did with Wine versions 1.5.0 and earlier.))

After working around bug 24358 by adding port forwards to the
local router and running parts of the bootstrapper with +relay
or +winsock, the next problem is that the login window
is blank. 'winetricks ie6' works around that.

Using the recipe
winetricks dotnet20 ie7
one can then install need for speed world's launcher,
but the launcher has trouble downloading the game.
There seem to be more than one failure mode;
sometimes you get a dialog and can press "download"
to retry, other times it locks up.
It does eventually succeed after something like
2-3 kills+restarts and 2-3 clicks on the download error dialog + download
button.

Log trying to log in with good username/password
To reproduce: on a Windows or mac, go to monkeyquest.com and create an
account. Verify you can log into it there. Then on Linux, do
wine iexplore http://monkeyquest.com
Then try to log in. It will silently take you back to the login screen.
There is no significant difference in the log between using a good
and a bad password there. I'll attach a log using a good password.
